This is a beautifully decorated and comfortable BnB in a historic manor house. Walkable location on the edge of town center, near harbor and 3 blocks from Village Green and Acadia shuttle base . The owner and staff are welcoming and very helpful while the breakfast choices were always delicious. Afternoon live music in garden was a relaxing touch. Our room was spacious and bed comfortable. Well worth price!

The location was perfect to be able to walk around downtown. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and kept up. My only complaint would be that the live music was just a lady, nice but, doing karaoke with a bad speaker system. We were looking forward to some drinks and relaxing with maybe some accoustic or light band. Super disappointed in the karaoke and talked to other guest the next morning that felt the same. Oh the breakfast was delicious.

I cannot say enough about this property! From the amazing staff, to the fine details, this is hands down one of my favorite places we’ve stayed…EVER! I loved that gf breakfast was an automatic option. The room was so spacious, and decorated with so much care. Chris, the owner talked to us at breakfast, and is so down to earth. He’s got a great thing going, and we’ll be back for sure!!!

We had an amazing stay! The property was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and exactly as described. Everything was well maintained, and it made for a very comfortable and relaxing experience.

What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Every person we interacted with was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and always greeted us with a smile. Their outstanding hospitality made us feel valued and at home throughout our visit.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would gladly stay here again. Highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay with exceptional service!

We had an amazing two-night stay in the Down East King Room at Sand Bar Cottage while celebrating our anniversary. We were welcomed with sparkling wine and chocolate-covered strawberries, which was such a thoughtful touch. Chris, the owner, made a point to welcome us personally, and every staff member we met was incredibly friendly and hospitable.

Breakfast both mornings was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The location couldn't have been better. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to do in Bar Harbor, including crossing the sandbar to the island at low tide. We also loved relaxing by the fire pits in the evenings while enjoying the live music.

If you're visiting Bar Harbor or exploring Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain, I highly recommend staying at Sand Bar Cottage. It was the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, and we can't wait to return!

I can’t imagine going back to Bar Harbor and not staying here again. It was just perfect. The entire property was amazing. Our room was spacious and clean. The food was delicious. The staff was as friendly and helpful as could be. The property is in a Perfect location so we never moved our car. We walked everywhere. An added bonus was the live music in the evening. The yard was lit up with twinkle lights and we were offered drinks as soon as we sat down. I can’t recommend this place enough. 10 out of 10!!!

I vacationed in Bar Harbor with my husband and grown daughter. The Inn exceeded all my expectations. The house is lovely, comfortable and in a perfect location. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. We had breakfast on the porch each morning and treats at tea time each day, I’ve really missed that since returning home. The breakfast was THE BEST! We were on the go a lot but did get to enjoy the music in the garden one evening. I had a wonderful time and hope to return someday.

Fantastic FULL breakfast—coffee, tea, juice, muffins, and a gourmet entree each morning. Our room was in the back “secondary” house on the second floor. The location was great, very walkable to town. Loved the live music on Friday and Saturday nights in the garden. We would definitely return!

This is a charming place to stay in the picturesque Bar Harbor area. We were there for four nights. The room was fantastic, clean, spacious, and the bed was very comfortable.
The real winning touches here are the little details and efforts made by the staff. A fireplace that often has a welcoming fire, tea time complimentary cakes and punch, scrumptious breakfasts, and an occasional offer of live music out on the grounds.
I would recommend this place for anyone who is hoping to catch that B & B/independent old inn kind of vibe during their stay in Bar Harbor.

Snacks, tea and coffee: they are very generous with food all day.
Room: we chose room 7. It might be smaller than other rooms in the house, but we love the quirkiness of the room. Typical NE room, small space, but full of cool nooks and cranies. Full of amenities in the room and bathroom. Love the sitting.
Walking distance: a 5-7 walk to the water, park, and restaurants. There's a nice path along the water, great stroll. Great view of the different islands.

Our (my husband and I) stay at the Sand Bar Cottage Inn was truly awesome. The property itself was so charming. Our room was in a separate building and was spacious and comfortable. It was very quiet. Our daily breakfasts were so delicious -- one option was savory - like a sausage frittata and the other sweet - like banana foster pancakes. Truly, the breakfast was a highlight of our day. The location could not have been better. Just a quick walk to main street and the harbor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again when our plans bring us back to Bar Harbor.

Afternoon tea and breakfast offerings were always-changing and unique. We enjoyed the privacy of our cottage room, but the community of the house and dining. Cottage Inn staff was all friendly and helpful! The proximity to everything was very convenient. The water pressure was incredible as well.

We enjoyed our time here because of the gardens and front porch, the evening of live music in the garden every night. It was very close walking distance to everything in Bar Harbor… 5 min walk. Room 1 was clean and spacious enough for 2 people. The only negative would be that possibly a staff member’s living quarters were above us and heard them walking every morning at 5:30

This was part of a larger trip. There are not many options for staying in Bar Harbor. Most are these old victorian houses. The person who greeted us was not welcoming. The room was very basic, a bit like staying in a Motel 6. Nothing hospitable about the property. The cleaning person sat outside of our room (6ft away), waiting for us to check out on the day we left so that she could clean the second we left the room. When I went to give my key back, the woman (who has entertaining personal friends at the front desk for coffee) asked me how everything was. When I said, 'Umm, it was okay'. Hoping this would open conversation, she said 'okay, I'll take your key, bye'.
She went back to conversation again with friends.
I had to interrupt their conversation to ask for a milk alternative when grabbing to go coffee on the way out. She seemed perturbed.
Not sure there is much to offer in Bar Harbor for nice places, however, this place at over $600 a night was awful. How embarrassing for these properties that they are overcharging their guests in these tourist like areas while delivering a sub par stay.

The Sand Bar Cottage is the best place to stay in Bar Harbor! Arrive, unload, and stay parked while you walk and enjoy all that Bar Harbor & Acadia has to offer. Not worrying over finding parking was the greatest perk, but the entire property was beautiful with blooming flowers and the staff were all extremely helpful and hospitable. Our cottage was absolutely perfect.

Sand Bar Cottage Inn greets you with beautiful gardens, a welcoming front porch and lots of smiles. We made the BEST CHOICE of a place to stay on Bar Harbor. As a airline family, both of us have spent a lot of time in hotels and wanted something different for our Bar Harbor stay. Comfortable beds, clean showers and charmng decor greet every visitor. The owner, Chris, is a delightful person and his personality is shown through the employees, decor and all. Oh, let's not forget the breakfasts! These are AMAZING!!! and to top it off, there are cookies and cake every afternoon tea! We are definitely going to be back!

We had booked here for a one night stay in July 2025 but when we arrived we loved it and decided if we could we would love to stay for another night. Chris was very accommodating and got us an another night here. This was nothing but fantastic! Excellent location, staff were phenomenal and the property was nothing but beautiful indeed and well kept. I would highly recommend this hotel and Chris and his staff were very friendly and we were treated with the utmost respect. BTW we had breakfast there both mornings and it was Devine! Can’t wait to come back❤️

We were greeted with the warmest welcome from Kenesha who was very kind and helped us out to book an additional night. Our luggage was transferred to a new room the next day while we were hiking. So the transition was smooth and with no delay. Chris was extremely friendly and was around the property every day. I loved the happy relaxed atmosphere and felt like visiting a family.
We stayed in Acadia Cottage which was a lovely space with the only slight inconvenience - AC unit felt a bit too loud since I have a high sensitivity to noise. We got lucky and were able to sleep with open windows. It was very quiet outside since the room is tucked in all the way in the back of the property.
Parking was a bit challenging at times but there was always enough space available.
Daily breakfast was quite exquisite and freshly brewed coffee was available all day together with an afternoon treat.
We also got to enjoy a life music right in the beautiful garden next to the main house.
Overall, it was everything we were hoping for. Thank you Chris for being such an amazing host!

This is an excellent B&B! Chris, the host, makes everyone feel at home and relaxed, it truly is like a home away from home. It is located really close to all of the downtown restaurants, shops and waterfront and it was so nice not having to worry about finding a parking spot in a busy Bar Harbor.
The Sandbar is a place where you just want to stay, maybe stay forever, if it were only possible!

The property was in an excellent location near the sandbar. Our room was very clean and the food was outstanding. The staff did a very good job with everything including making us feel welcome. Our third floor room in the back was very quiet but the queen bed could use a mattress topper to make it more comfortable.

I love it when you get to a B&B you are looking forward to because of the reviews, and it doesn't disappoint right out of the gate. Our room on the third floor was quiet and sleeps four comfortably--great for a family with two kids. The property is kept up nicely, and the breakfast was freshly prepared by a chef and both a sweet and savory option were given.
That said, both egg dishes served (a quiche and a frittata) were too salty for my taste.
The proprietor could not be more welcoming and pleasant-- some folks just enjoy meeting people and being hospitable-- it's truly a joy to meet them on your travels!

What a Wonderful experience. Inn Keeper Chris is a treasure and the place is spectacular. Great attention to detail make a huge difference. For instance my wife gushed over having a designated make-up removal cloth in the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent as was the afternoo treats. If you're going to Bar Harbor, stay here!!!!

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at the Sandbar. The bedroom we stayed and the common areas on the ground floor were very inviting and comfortable. Chris and his team went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant visit. Each morning there were two breakfast options (one savory, one sweet) and in the afternoon some homemade treats to go with the coffee and tea. Highly recommend.

The room was nice and big! Beautiful property. Loved the outdoor entertainment, the afternoon tea/snacks, and the delicious breakfasts. These were things we didn't experience at other B&Bs. We wish we had visited earlier in the month, as some places (restaurants/stores) had already closed for the season, and it was getting colder. Also, will stay longer if we have the opportunity to visit again.

Such an amazing and beautiful place! The Sand Bar turned our girls trip experience into something even more special! The delicious breakfast and snacks were so much better than expected, and we expected a lot! The decor, close proximity to everything we needed and wanted to do. We parked the rental when we got there and never moved it again until we were leaving! Goodbye Sand Bar! We love you!!!

Lovely stay at the Sand Bar Cottage Inn

We had a lovely stay at the Sand Bar Cottage. The location was perfect. Chris and his staff were very professional and pleasant. Our room & bathroom were spacious. Our only negative comment would be that we did not receive housekeeping every day. The bed was never made up nor was the trash removed, at a minimum. The room fees were upwards of $425/per night. Housekeeping should be provided.

We loved staying here. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our room was great. We enjoyed the afternoon tea time treats. Coffee and tea were always avaliable. Our breakfast each morning was amazing. We loved the outdoor area options from eating out on the porch to sitting out in the garden. The location is great. It's close to all the restaurants and shops and a short drive to Acadia. This was our first time to Bar Harbor. Whenever we come back we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you Chris and staff. They made sure we had everything we needed.

The Sand Bar is hands down the most magical spot on the island. From the moment my husband and I stepped onto the property, we felt an instant connection. Chris, the sweetest innkeeper ever, welcomed us like old friends, and after four nights, that’s exactly what he became. He went above and beyond, making us feel completely at home.
The property is a dream: the beautiful gardens, charming cottages, the welcoming porch, the character of the Inn all weaving together to create a haven of serenity.
Mornings were lovely with amazing breakfasts, and in the afternoons, sweet treats became our little ritual, enjoyed on the porch as we soaked in moments we’ll treasure forever.
Thank you, Chris, for making our stay so incredibly special. We’ll return, not just for the beauty of Sand Bar, but because of the magic you created for us.

The location was perfect and was key to a successful vacation. Street parking is a nightmare! Being able to have free safe parking on the property and shops and restaurants within walking distance made all the difference. The hospitality rooms are beautifully decorated and welcoming. Breakfast each morning was delightful and delicious! Our room was spacious and comfortable. Their staff especially Chris is very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back.
