These old iconic cabins have been brought up to date with old looking appliances and a well hidden microwave! The bathroom was spectacular with a separate water closet. Fabulous restaurant on the property. After a long day of hiking, an excellent meal and waking up to the sound of the rushing river was fabulous. Worth it, definitely worth it.

The stay was amazing! We had a few little hiccups but they were fixed immediately. Everyone was so nice! My only complaint was that the wifi in the cabins was just bad. Not that our vacation was centered around tv, but we wanted to watch the Stanley Cup Finals one night and our ROKU wouldn't hook up at all.

We loved staying in these cozy cabins!! They were clean and comfortable and so easy to hike before and after all the daily tourists. We enjoyed take out from the restaurant and borrowed free DVDs for family movie night. Also rented bear spray. Would highly recommend!

The room was very nice, well maintained. A little cool in the morning as the heat did not work. The restaurant was terrible. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, it was as hard as a rock, I could not eat it. Breakfast was not much better. I broke a tooth eating the bacon.

Staff were extremely friendly, they even sent a btl of wine to the cabin as a birthday gift...So kind of them... The cabin was very clean...Only reason i gave it an overall 3 stars was because the cabin had an old musty odour i'm assuming dutch is because of the age of the cabins... As well, it's a little bit of a tourist trap, lots of buses and people pulling in to walk the Canyon and I do prefer privacy versus lots of tourists..Hence the 3 stars, but overall rooms were clean. Shower was hot. The staff were very friendly.

When we had an issue with our room, the staff was very quick in making it right. Very clean, spacious, and private. A real fireplace and an electric \"wood burning stove\" were nice touches to make it homey, while also providing a fan in case we got hot. Claw foot tub and a shower in a huge bathroom were super nice as well! The restaurant and coffee shop were both great, and it was super convenient for hiking to the Upper and Lower Falls. We love this place!

Cottage was well set up for 2 couples each have their own room. And would be great also for a family.

We ate at the bistro I had the canyon burger and the others had the fish and chips . Food was really good and our waiter Rueben was really good.

I love being able to hike to the falls before or after the tourist are all gone .

This was our 4 th stay in a 3 year period .

The views are impressive.

This place is an absolute gem! Unplug from technology and enjoy the gorgeous mountain surroundings. The hike up to the falls is not to be missed. The cabin was rustic but full of simple upgrades to make you comfortable. The bistro and coffee shop were excellent. You will love your time there 😊

Adele at the front desk was amazing. From the first call to book the large cabin, extra firewood and check out - excellent service. It is a little expensive for 1 night - but I had an Expedia coupon 👍 but totally worth it. My dad has a cane and it was a bit of a mobility challenge to get from cabin 8 to the restaurant and shop/cafe due to steepish paths or stairs so we used the driveway which takes a little longer and still has an incline on the way back. Pros: Beautiful cabins, amazing views and excellent service and the mountain fresh air. Cons: food is pricy and a little bit of mobility challenge. FYI-bring some paper towels and regular glasses. 😉

The cabins are so cute, they were lovely to stay in and the beds were very comfortable. One of the lamps had no bulb in. The TV had to be unplugged to turn it off because the Toshiba remote did not work with the TV of another make. So we were not able to adjust the volume either on the BluRay disc we watched. Do eat in the restaurant! Dinner and breakfast were both superb with very friendly staff. Loved the vintage cars around the place.

Great location, right at the Johnston Canyon hike trailhead. Staff very friendly, cabins clean. A small bottle of wine was ready for us on arrival. No TV rd option but they had dvd movies to borrow. Internet very slow. Just a heads up…if you want to rent bear spray there it is $10/day but they keep your drivers license! You can buy also for $75!!!! We chose neither. I would stay there again. Great place if you are heading up to Lake Louise/Moraine.

What a gem! Cute, well kept cabins of all sizes on a beautiful property by the creek. Coffee/gift shop and restaurant/cafe are just down from the cabins. It is actually on the trailhead to several hikes which makes it extra convenient for an early start or even an evening stroll in nature.

Our Cabin #22 was very nice except it was not what I expected. I didn’t expect it to be one bedroom and a small bathroom as in a hotel with a desk and table. It worked out fine but I would definitely research the options next time. And for the nightly cost, anyone would expect better quality toilet paper then the rough, thin stuff provided. We loved the property and it being totally dog friendly was such a great surprise. I would recommend these cabins highly.

While our studio cabin was small, there was no where to put our duffel bags and other belongings, except on the floor. We suggest two folding suicase stands, a hook on the back of the bathroom door, and a shelf in the bathroom bigger than an 8\" square in the corner that must be cleared off to plug in anything. We loved the gorgeous grounds, the glorious hike to the waterfalls, and the bistro.

Secluded in a maze of what appears to be old but updated clean cabins. Quite small but quaint. A nice front porch with two Adirondack chairs to enjoy your evening or morning coffee. Bathroom was teeny and sink had no where to keep my items for getting ready “like face wash, makeup, hair styling tools. No bedside table for c-pop and water I like handy during the night. I used a suitcase to hold those items. There was a little room fridge. Tv but couldn’t get it to work. I paid more to stay here than any other place my whole trip and expected a bit more. BUT, if you are longing to stay in a cabin in the woods by Johnston Canyon it would be perfect! I especially liked that we were at Johnston Canyon so parking wasn’t an issue.

First time staying here. The cabins are old, but very well kept and add to the charm. We loved the little porch and spent a lot of time sitting there, even saw a fox go by. It’s quiet and away from the noise of people visiting the falls. Parking right at your cabin, easy check in/out. We ate supper outside at the restaurant and quite enjoyed it.

Can hike out the door,beautiful area,liked check in staff member, nice cabins, loved bus service to town,wine,had an issue with hot water for the shower in the morning,and didn't get a parking pass to board the morning bus which was not a huge deal. I tried to help clean up the Johnston Canyon trail which was more a parks staff responsibility. Overall, nice vintage place surrounded by wilderness.

We loved how quaint our little cabin was and how it was next to Johnston Canyon. We liked how easy it was to get to other Banff sites as well. The restaurant on-site was delicious with very friendly staff. We were provided 3 free breakfast vouchers because we stayed 7 days, which we appreciated very much. We do wish that there was a discount for eating at the restaurant when you're staying on the property as we found food in Banff to be very pricey compared to a big city like Toronto where you have more options. (Think $12-$19 for a sandwich).

These are so close to the Johnston Canyon enterance. The canyon can be very busy but this loation makes it possible to beat the crowds in the morning. The cabins are cute and they allowed our dog to stay with us. As typical with the area, there were lots of bears so just be sure to practice bear safety while walking. Loved the staff too!

Requested cleaning after 2 nights and this was not done despite making 2 requests. A mouse was seen in our cabin on the 3rd night.
This place advertises tennis courts but they are not useable.
Dining on site was great and servers there were very good.

Our family stayed in a two bedroom, two bath cabin. The two baths were actually one with a sink and toilet, and another with a tub, shower, and a sink. Beds were comfortable, and cabin was clean. Office staff was very nice and friendly, however, we felt like there should have been a more efficient way to contact them after hours. Only option was to send an email.

The store/coffee shop on site was very convenient, however, we were disappointed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. In addition we were very disappointed with the non working ice cream and milkshake service. We were told each day it would be working tomorrow, but it never was.

Just know this lodge is old and dated. The ceilings are very low, the beds are small, the WiFi doesn’t work. The resources and amenities are very limited. The staff of the restaurant and snack shop were uncaring and bothered. They were out of everything at the snack shop. It was raining and with no paved parking or walk ways, we were in the slippery mud. Overpriced for what it is!!

The bathtub was extremely slippery. Falls are dangerous. Either tub mats should be provided or non-slip appliques should be put on the tub bottom. We had to put the cloth mat that is normally used when stepping out of the tub in the tub to keep us from falling while showering.

Everything was great! The only feedback I would offer is that in the honeymoon cabin (carriage house??), there wasn't anywhere to put your toiletries bags etc. in the washroom. Similarly could have used one more spot for a suitcase to sit, so that it didn't have to be on the floor. Otherwise it was all awesome.

We loved staying at Johnston Canyon, easiest access possible to the most popular hikes and viewpoints in Banff NP. 20 min to both Lake Louise and Banff. The cabin was great, the beds were comfortable and it stayed plenty warm at night.

If you stay here and plan on cooking, bring oil, butter, or something non-stick. None is provided.

Cute LITTLE cabin. 2 adults and a large dog shared a standard queen cabin. We asked for, and housekeeping happily sent over a microwave oven, 2 plates and some utensils so we could cook our own dinner. A very safe and well maintained trail to the upper falls was well worth the walk. The falls were spectacular.

Disappointing Second Stay

Disappointing second stay at Johnston Canyon. Stayed here in September, and loved everything about the place. This time I booked a smaller cabin, and although it was cute, there were a few annoying things. After check in, I tried to make coffee but the lid on the coffee pot was broken, and fell off, and the coffee went everywhere. The girl from housekeeping turned up quickly (thankfully) with another coffee pot and helped me clear up.
The next issue was have to listen to builders working on neighbouring cabins. This went on all through Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings. I would have loved to sit outside on the deck to relax but this wasn’t possible due to the workmen. It’s not at all relaxing listening to drills going!
Next issue, there is no heating in the bathroom, and as the temperature was below freezing at night and early morning, using the bathroom and shower was not a pleasant experience!
And lastly, the food in the shop cooler wasn’t as nice this time. In September they sold lovely yogurt parfaits and freshly made sandwiches. This time there was only curled up old sandwiches and pots of fruit that was past its best.

Amazing location in a rustic cabin. There are a lot of hikers passing by. The front desk is great.
