First, the good stuff. Excellent staff, most helpful with a late arrival due to a stranded connecting flight, and with a late checkout.
Good food and drinks, and service to go with it.
The not so good... The WiFi was hopeless. Virtually unable to connect to a speedy and/or reliable signal. Our own phone data was also hard use inside the hotel - but we would get multiple notifications as soon as we stepped outside.
Bathroom... I get 'mood lighting' in the lounge room but why have it in the bathroom? I craved a bright light to shave, my wife the same for makeup etc.
Also, having a sliding door on the toilet was a great idea but with no handle on the inside, it's difficult to open, especially in the middle of the night, particularly with jet lag and NO BRIGHT LIGHTS.
We liked the hotel, a lot of the big things worked great, it's the silly little stuff that bothered us. We'd love to come back and stay again

We stayed in the hotel for four nights. The hotel is well maintained and our room is spotless and the mattress is good. The size of the TV well exceeded our expectation. The water pressure of the shower was low but okay. The breakfast was very good especially the salad bar and fruit, and Chinese food. The bakery is on the low side and worse than those offered a couple of years back when we stayed in the same hotel. Coffee (espresso, latte,…) were very good and the staff were very tentative to clean tables and reload milk to coffee machines. Once you are done with your breakfast, you can take a cup of coffee/latte/… with you. Thank the hotel for this warm gesture. The location of the hotel is clearly the best with a metro station just some 2-3 hundreds away. Overall very happy with the stay.

Location is superb. Smacked right in the middle of Nanjing Road. So convenient. Room was spacious and bright. The only down side was the housekeeping staff either chatting amongst themselves or on their phone so loudly in the early morning and it disrupted our sleep. Other than this. Everything is good.

We loved staying at the centrally located hotel. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are very nice. I asked to stay in the hotels for extra 2 hours and the front desk graciously gave me the time. The central air system works strangely, but we opened the window for some cool air, it worked for our stay

Clean rooms, great service, and an amazing breakfast. The housekeeping team did a wonderful job and frequently left us free fresh fruit. All of the staff members were very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was awesome, featuring hundreds of freshly cooked options from local Shanghainese specialties to Western favorites. The air conditioning also worked perfectly and was very quiet at night. Will definitely stay here again!

If you’re booking through Expedia for 3 people it’s not guaranteed you will get a place for each person to sleep. My wife and I booked with our 17 year old son and was told it’s not guaranteed a rollaway bed will be provided and despite booking for 3 an extra charge was charged for the bed we did eventually get. AC isn’t great and TV did not work. Breakfast was good.

It’s Fine, but for that price I wanted more than fine. The staff is amazing though very friendly.
A few issues with cleanliness ( cigarette butts near the doors of the elevator and hair that wasn’t mine in my bathtub found upon arrival)
I was looking forward to using the amenities but there is no spa, no steam room and no sauna available to women, only men have access to a sauna. The hotel does have a nice location.

I stayed in Shanghai at the start of my trip and at the end,the beginning I stayed at the Conrad. The Conrad is right next door and about the same price but the service and amenities there were exceptional. Go there instead

It's a great experience to stay in Crowne Plaza, clean room, convenient location, friendly hotel employees etc. Although encountering some issues during our stay, the gentleman (sorry that we forgot to ask for his name) at the front desk was so helpful and willing to solve the problems promptly. Liam Lu at the concierge was so helpful during our stay. He is so friendly and very professional in doing his jobs. They are definitely an asset to the hotel. We will stay in Crowne Plaza again next time when travelling to Shanghai.

Great rooms and a central location

Lovely large room with separate bath and shower. Great breakfast on the second level. Close to People’s Park and the Shanghai Museum and the central walkway down to the Bund. Only a five minute walk from People Square station if you’re on Line 2 metro from Pudong Airport. The swimming pool was closed during our stay for refurbishment so worth checking if this is important to you but the gym is excellent.

The hotel is well connected with malls and metro station within distance. Very convenient to get to the Bund as well as there is a shuttle tram on the road where you could pay 10 Yuan per pax to get closer to the bund. Hotel wise, cleaning staff was attentive . The hotel's room ac seems to be set at low temperature even on such weather. There were no clothes hook in the bathroom which is very weird since the room we chose was a renovated unit.

Manager and staff were very friendly specially the one who helped us with speedy check in. Great location for accessing Nanjing Rd and we could see the Pearl Tower from our room! We arrived early and they were able to check us in 2 hours earlier and also gave us late check out. This was really appreciated since we had a toddler in tow. The junior king suite we stayed in was really spacious, again perfect for our active toddler. Highly recommend

The location is in walking distance to People’s square metro station. Our room has a great view to the Nanjing road walking street, the bund and the oriental pearl tower. There are many coffee shops, local food stores nearby. The room is quiet and spacious, and well maintained. The staff were very nice and helpful. Overall a great stay.

Located at the center of Shanghai Huangpu district, the hotel has the best access to Citywalk of Najing road right at its entrance. It's also very popular among international travelers from my observation during my 6days stay. The service is also top notch. From luggage service to front desk and room service, everyone is very friendly, polite and ready to help the guests. My returning flight was delayed 24 hours due to typhoon so I called the staff to extend the stay midnight. It was connected immediately and the staff helped me extend the same room with no hassle. I really appreciate their professional service. My stay was a breeze and for sure I will visit again.

Crowne Plaza is located at the end on Nanjing street in Shanghai and this excellent location had excellent dinning and shopping.
The checkin and checkout was easy and a shout-out for Kathy who upgraded us to a VIP room with a view of the Shanghai skyline and my wife loved it. One thing I would recommend is that the breakfast buffet should clearly identify vegetarian dishes to avoid any confusion.
We highly recommend this hotel for visitors who have a few days to see the city.

The hotel is right smack on the busy street of Nanjing East Road and so it provides easy access to the MRT (People's Park Station is just 5 to 10 minutes away). Food is a plenty so there are a lot of options. Hotel itself is very clean.

We love that the hotel provides self-initiated services such as replenishing water / water bottles and changing towels on a daily basis even though we did not ask to make up room.

The hotel is clean and elegant. Front desk folks are very courteous.

Bad staff service and outdated room furnishings

Most of the staff there are either inexperienced to understand or handle our queries and they are not very helpful. The only person I can comment is the lady that processed our check-in although rooms were not ready as we were early. I understand she requested for a clean and if possible, refurbished room. Think her last name is Zhang. All the other front desk staff are mostly unfriendly although I speaks Mandarin. They were selective on guests and my simple request for a power plug got ignored as they say it’s all taken up (for 2 nights!)
