I’ve stayed at many properties in Beijing over the years and I’ve come to make the Kempinski my top choice. Its location is great and staff are great, but it also has combination of classic elegance and quality that many other hotels lack. It’s not ostentatious, but everything is super high quality from the breakfast to the rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful and I like that is in the river. My only suggestion are that the beds could probably use new mattresses. But they are still quite good.

We stayed here in 2024 and 2025 on holiday. It is an excellent hotel with many international guests and well equipped for business due to its location. The receptionists speak English well. Gym is small but has sufficient equipment. Extensive variety of food for breakfast. The most popular hotel restaurant appears to be Paulaner. Room service is prompt. The cakes at the deli are delicious. We will certainly be here everytime we are in Beijing.

The experience was poor because of the two reasons.

1. The swimming pool was not available when I stayed there due to renovation. The hotel never mentioned that they stop using swimming pool when I booked the hotel. I hope the hotel could let me know in advance as swimming pool is one of essentials for me to select a hotel.

2. The hot water in shower system was not stable. The hot and cool water was not supplied properly. Therefore, the water could be unpredictably hot or cool and it was hard to control.

I hope the hotel could provide full refund for this stay as a five star hotel should have provided a better facilities.

Nice hotel generally but quality has slipped

I’ve enjoyed staying at this hotel, but it’s not as nice as it used to be. The staff are friendly but some seem not well trained. The hotel is nice, but is it worth the money? Feels like the hotel is not as well managed as it used to be. The spa upstairs is very run down and the steam sauna has been broken for months, with no indication of when it will be fixed. The bathroom in my room was not very clean, a bit moldy and gunk on the floor. The breakfast is one of the nicest of any hotel I’ve stayed at but the quality has slipped recently.

I stayed twice, June 29 and July 7, 2024. Both times I did enjoy my stay. All in all the services were excellent and the attitude, as well as friendliness of personnel, made me feel like I knew them before. Breakfast and food at the Italian Restaurant were superb and delicate. Unfortunately, the Wienerschnitzel at German Beer Garden & Cafe was not quite fresh, but still enjoyable.
Ivy at the Reception gave me the best advice and directions for Beijing. Thanks

Great surroundings, but problems persist

I stayed the place because of the surrounding environment, good place to walk around in the back of the hotel, lovely and renovated outdoor place is a great attraction. The hotel’s management team is a huge disappointment, guests smoke inside the rooms with doors open which the entire hall way was filled with smoke, guests smoking in the bar/coffee, I reported to the front desk, with little result. I understood there are always small groups of people destroy a culture of good behavior and concern of others due to their ignorance and stupidity. These selfish and idiotic people don’t deserve the facilities. However, I think there is fundamental problem from the management team, I travel a lot, but only in China, I see people smoking in hotel rooms and hotel public facilities.

Right by Subway #10 line Liangmaqiao station, In the same building with YanSha shopping center, convenient yet quiet location, very friendly staff and service, restaurant food is good too. My standard room with one king bed is not that big, but has all the amenities a five star hotel room should have, Hotel no longer put toothbrush in the room, but you can still get one by asking front desk. Slipers still provided.

Very efficient and professional since check in. This property is no smoking but when I was walking to the room, we could smell cigarette! Got in the room , rang the reception to let them know that one of the room must have been smoking. They managed to deal with it quickly and when I went out later the smell was gone. Very convenient since the metro station is in front of it - Liangmaoqiao is the name is i am not wrong. Part of hotel was being renovated but it didn’t bother us since we was there for a night. Will stay there again.

Be careful if you book this hotel through Expedia. The hotel directly stated that \"We do not get enough from Expedia to cover the costs of the executive lounge.\" On top of this, I was told at check-in that I had been given an \"upgrade.\" This translated to a room on a lower floor than the executive floor, and a sofa with disgusting white stains all over it. On the plus side, the room and hotel did not have any hint of cigarette smoke, a plus in China. The room was very small, with a view of a construction site/vacant lot. The one saving grace of the hotel was the attentiveness of some of the lower-level staff. For instance, housekeeping took less than a minute to find and lend me an adaptor for my laptop charger. All in all I would not choose this property again when there are admitted 4-star hotels which are both better and cheaper, and 5-star hotels which are of a similar cost, but which are actually what they advertise. Kempinski is not a 5-star hotel.

I am amazed by the maintenance of this hotel after several years. It has kept up with the high standard set many years ago being in the embassies/foreign area of Beijing. However, the little things need the housekeeping department to be more detailed in the performance of their tasks. I found an empty room slippers' plastic bag under my settee upon checking in; no dental kits the following morning; and no razor and cream in an empty box the second morning. Housekeeping had came in at least twice ...

Excellent location near third ring east road which I think is the most convenient place to stay in Beijing. Newly remodeled rooms are nice. Bed is comfortable which is important to me. Only hitch was check in. Waited for too long at front desk and when they finally gave me a room, there was someone still in it! They apologized profusely and gave me some chocolate.

Staff initially informed me of the renovations (7am to 9pm drilling) and offered to put me in a room that was somewhat more distant from the workers. Staff claimed they inspected for smoke smell, then gave it to me. It had a strong odour of old smoke. They moved me to Room no.2, no smoke smell. The room had non-functioning air conditioning. Temperature inside the room: 26 degrees (temperature outside 36 degrees). I insisted a room with broken air-con was as unacceptable as a room with a strong smoke odour, and asked them how they thought I could accept it. Room no.3 had both air-con and no smoke odour. This process took 3 hours. Kudos to Mr Adrian, whose aplomb and fine communication skills made a miserable experience more bearable. But the rest of the staff needs retraining, if they think they can stick a guest into a plainly unacceptable series of rooms and replacements. This for a five-star rated hotel is obviously unacceptable.

First time at the Kemp and very pleased. Very good location. Across the street from a subway station and within walking distance of Solana mall and Lucky street. Clean and nice, although it’s 2018 and time to get rid of the wall-to-wall carpet. 30 pin dock charger need be replaced with a Qi-charger for modern phones. We really enjoyed our stay. The bakery downstairs is amazing! Try the Danish!

Largely an established business hotel but also suitable for tourists visiting Beijing. Quite distant from many of tourist attractions but as there is a subway station right outside the hotel, not difficult or expensive to get to the main sights.
Hotel is undergoing extensive refurbishment at the moment so you may experience some noise but we didn’t find it any issue at all.
Good choice of restaurants in the hotel itself (the buffet breakfast in the Paulaner is particularly good), but many nearby restaurants, both local & international within walking distance.

Shocking discover!

Extremely disappointed of staying at world renowned Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center on Dec 21-24, 2017. I was not informed the renovation until checked in at around 1am on Dec 22nd, but was advices that the renovation is on the 11th floor, 5 floor above mine at room 655. I was waken up by the drill in the morning at 8:22am directly above me, I recorded the noise and shown on the phone with the front desk, the receptionist could heard the drill through the phone from my room, but she said it was contracted out so they couldn’t control when they work, I asked to speak to the manager on duty, so she called and apologized the problem, and the drill stopped. And it continued awhile later, but I was already up so I thought I better leave .... so I did. The noise continuoued on the 2nd day, and on the 3rd day it was even earlier, on dec 24th, it started at 7:20am, it’s a Sunday morning, totally unconscious, I was unbelievably frustrated and furious, can’t imagine this is Kempinski Hotel which I had fond memory, not anymore, what the Lufthansa Beijing center displayed was way under par of a 4 or 5 star standard. Not only just that, the shower was incredibly unstable, extremely hot for a minute and extremely cold for a minute, show turned into a struggle with time. At the check in, the receptionist said I reserved for one night even though my reservation said for 3 nights .... and at check out, I was charged 65RMB for tax, although it was removed, it adds another dent!

This is a clean modern hotel. No mold in the showers. Comfortable bed (not rock hard Asian style ). Would stay again except for the smoke smell in our room (a non smoking rooms). We reported about the smoke, but nothing was done. If you are sensitive to tobacco smoke, just avoid China.

Big room, clean, helpful and polite staff, close to metro station. Nice lobby. Nice gym at the apartments just outside (the gym in the hotel is small but still ok). I didn't go to the swimming poll but seems nice too. The only complain was the noise from the construction work the days that we stayed there. The area there has nothing special to see, thus not recommended for sightseeing.

Some floors are currently under renovation. There was construction noise from 8am to 5pm, which could wake up you in the morning. Water from the bathroom taps is yellowish...hotel staff said it's because of the construction work. In addition, the teapot for making hot beverages is not clean. I was not comfortable of using it. Overall, the hotel is not good to stay during renovation which will last till July according to the staff. I think the hotel should offer discounts during the renovation period.

Great value for the exceptional service & quality

I was at a conference in a nearby hotel and I chose to stay at the Kempinski because it looked like a better value than the other hotel.

I was blown away with the customer service at this hotel! I travel extensively throughout Asia and this has to be one of the best hotels for price, service and a room quality.

When I left the hotel, some packages did not reach the hotel for me before I had to depart. They promptly sent all packages to the next city that I was staying at.

They have 5 ladies dressed in red dresses that speak English perfectly and give service second to none!

I am very very impressed with this hotel and will 100% stay here each time that I am in the Beijing.
