Parking wasn't great, there is enough for the number of hotel rooms, but not enough room for hotel guests if there is a function on....Which seems to be often. We had to park in a nearby carpark and keep checking for a free space.

Breakfast was ok. On the first morning it was quite quiet but they Kept running out of coffee and plates. The second morning was better. Food is nothing special.

The Room. We stayed in the Emily Dickinson room, it was ok. Nice decor. Bed terrible, needs replacing.

The BIG issue was the road outside. I booked this hotel months before we arrived. I had free cancellation up to 4pm the day before check-in. The hotel messaged me at 11pm the day before check-in saying that the road was closed due to construction and gave directions to the carpark. What they should have done is message days before and been honest about what the construction was. I could then have cancelled my reservation and spent the last 2 days of my holiday somewhere quiet. The construction was the road in front of our room being completely dug up. We were woken up both mornings at 7am with intense noise (jack hammer) and the room vibrating so much stuff fell off the bedside tables.
The hotel did leave earplugs in the room, brill, thanks!

Room was clean and cozy. Staff was friendly and helpful, we requested something that would tell us about the history of the hotel and the receptionist printed us a pdf sheet and brought it up to the room. The room was a bit cool and drafty so we requested an extra blanket and the receptionist brought up two really warm and comfortable throw blankets.

Breakfast was standard continental with eggs, potatoes, sausage, some baked goods such as croissants, bagels, one kind of doughnut, yogurt cups, granola bars, fruit, etc. The eggs sort of leave something to be desired but this is the only thing I would say wasn't great about the breakfast. I had the coffee and it was really good coffee - I am lactose intolerant so I was happy to have had an oat milk alternative.

The Library restaurant attached to the hotel had really high quality pub fare and plenty of options for drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. We happened to eat there during their Trivia Night which happens every Thursday.

The one big thing I want to say, though not anything the hotel has control over, is it looks like there is currently a lot of construction work happening in the downtown core and surrounding areas, especially right in front of the building. I gathered that they would be working on this project until well into Fall of 2026. We were woken up to sounds of construction at 7am 😅

The staff stood out to me; considering the many hats they wear and the hours worked; they were excellent! I would argue better than most of the major hotels i have stayed at over the years. The room was spacious and clean. The construction on the road in front of hotel is a bit of an eye sore but it certainly didn’t have any impact on the service. The breakfast was just fine. The parking was convenient at back of hotel.

Currently there is construction on the main street which could impact ones enjoyment of the town. The hotel itself was great and all of the staff were super friendly. I would encourage guests to call the property to find out the status of construction prior to booking.

The staff were very pleasant, and we were able to check-in early. Our Sigmund Freud theme room was exceptionally clean and spacious. The Library Bar has a very classic vibe and delicious cocktails. This hotel is a hidden, historic gem. I’d highly recommend it for business or pleasure.

I know it was built in 1905 but simple upgrades would have prevent the cold wind to come through the bathroom window which essentially froze my face wash since I placed it on the window sill. I could not sleep because the sheets were basically what I call summer sheets. I used up all the tissues in the room because I kept sneezing and blowing my nose.

Everything was good, the aesthetics and vibes of the hotel were really incorporated into everything. However, the breakfast should incorporate more of those vibes to match the authentic atmosphere of the hotel, and the soul of the town!. The mattress was okay , should be more comfortable. I read the reviews thinking I was going to be getting a very nice stay for a reasonable price. But I was disappointed with the noisy room I was assigned - the hot water pipes or something were clanging all night inside the walls. I was directly across from the elevator and stairwell, and it was like an echo chamber. It was facing the busy street which is fine for me personally, traffic noise doesn't bother me. But the pipes/elevator kept me up most of the night. I didn't notice the little packs of earplugs on the coffee tray till the morning (whose presence told me the hotel knows it's a noisy room). Bed was very comfy, but morning shower was scalding hot-cold-hot-cold which was infuriating. I was looking forward to a nice breakfast, these stylish boutique-style hotels usually have a good spread. Another disappointment, it was stale mini muffins and biscuits, chewy tater tots, froot loops, 0% yogourt (yuck). A typical, terrible continental breakfast that wasn't worth the calories. At least they had oat milk for my tea which was a plus, and fresh fruit. I've been at other BW's in Ontario with lovely breakfasts. This hotel did not measure up. Finally, I stood at reception to check out for about 5 min and no staff were in sight, not in the kitchen or bar, not behind the reception desk. Got tired of waiting, and I had to leave without seeing any staff. Charming building, nice beds and rooms, free parking, good location, but I do not recommend.

Included breakfast was mediocre at best. There were no forks, ran out of coffee and no one to ask. The one woman that was working, wearing sunglasses the entire time, was hit or miss checking on people.
Parking was awful. They want your plate and information but then there are no spots. Front desk woman just assumed we knew the streets and told us to park about four blocks away. It was fine as the people at the bar most likely were parked there.

Beautiful stay and just to say I will be back. Comfortable room. Cool themed rooms. I was in Frankenstein room!!! Elevator is decorated like the Doctor Who Tardis.
Lovely warm welcome by the young lady on the front desk.
The only reason for my overall 4 star is because when I tucked in for the night and pulled back
My sheets there was dried blood on there. I did send a photo to the official hotel review. Maybe it was part of the Frankenstein experience?

My only issue was that we booked this hotel on a specific date to see an act that was playing that evening in the hotel. Turns out that the act had cancelled without the staffs knowledge. We ended up spending good money for an evening in a hotel and no entertainment.

A little disappointed that we didn't get our room tidied during our 2 day stay. There was no information in the room that we wouldn't.
The bath-tub was very slippery; it would have been nice to have a rubber mat to put in it.
Buffet breakfast included egg-bites and tater tots that on Day 2 were obviously just warmed up from Day 1.
Otherwise room was spacious and quiet.

Charming hotel with great service. The breakfast offered was good. There is currently construction going on in the main shopping area. Everything was still accessible but I can just imagine how beautiful it will be once completed. Will definitely come back to see the area once construction is over. Many food options available within walking distance, we loved our dinner at the Stillwaters and the view was besutiful from the top deck!

We didn't know when we booked this hotel that the rooms were themed. What a great idea for such a fantastic place. We were lucky enough to get the Mary Shelley room and it didn't disappoint. The room was clean, the bed was more comfortable than most hotels I've stayed at. The only downfall was the a.c. unit was louder than expected. I slept through it, but my wife had some issues with the noise.
The complementary breakfast was perfect. A good selection of food and drinks to build up your energy for wandering around town.

A Paris Gem

We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Arlington Hotel here in Paris Ontario. The staff are welcoming and very friendly, and made us feel very much at home. There are great common spaces on the main floor of the hotel and a lovely side and back patio to sit and enjoy food and drink while people watching. We found our bed and Nina Simone room very comfortable and nicely decorated. We highly recommend the Arlington.

Really nice rooms which were themed, tastefully. Clean & comfortable. Couldn't fault the rooms at all , not spacious but absolutely fine.
Restaurant turned out to be the bar with meals available. Options on the menu were limited but good selection of drinks. Unfortunately we stayed over on quiz night which wasn't the most relaxing.
The included breakfast was adequate but nothing special and when we went for breakfast there seemed to be a very 'hands off' approach

Great one night getaway. Restaurants within walking distance Paris Beer Co nearby, too. Had the Oscar Wilde suite, huge space. Heritage property so expect all that comes with that (bit darker room, slightly wonky floor), but a really cool place to stay. Will be back, without question.

The hotel room was great. It was spacious with additional seating in more than one place. Lots of natural light, the windows had shutters that were easily adjustable for when it got too sunny in the morning. We had to use the thermostat a few times to keep the room comfortable and each time it worked within minutes and made our stay super comfortable. Everything looked well kept and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.
