The hotel was a little hard to find coming directly from the airport but once we found it, overnight street parking was convenient and safe. Staff were so pleasant and helpful. The patio area out back was perfect to decompress after walking all day. Breakfast was nice and everything we had was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend this hotel.

We were a bit concerned with the negative reviews before we went. The rooms are basic but clean and cleaned every day. Breakfast is what you would expect in any hotel in Italy. The staff were helpful and accommodating to requests for additional tea and coffee in the garden area. There is graffiti on the walls in the street but you see that all over Rome. The hotel was close to a supermarket and dining options and a couple of blocks from the metro.

Hotel Best is on an extremely busy and noisy street. It is old, dark and uncomfortable. The only plus is the pretty patio near the breakfast area. Breakfast is not particularly good or pleasant. Don’t go there.

Great rooms and outside area for breakfast. A little far from the city center, maybe 20 min walk to the Colosseum. The service was also great, but a tad confusing. One man claimed the hotel didn’t offer transportation to/ from the airport and hotel, but another man was able to book my party a shuttle from the hotel to the airport for only €15 per person. Nonetheless, they do accommodate, the employees just need to communicate a bit more

Nice hotel The room was okay for a short stay due to its smallness.
The breakfast was again okay though again the room was small but it was never overcrowded.
We were able to get hot drinks up until 2000 hrs. from a machine in the breakfast room.
The travel was by Tram 5 or 14 from The Rome Termini takes only 4 minutes.
The connection for travel around Rome was a 5 minutes walk to the Metro at Manzoni. The Metro gets very crowded .

Good location, and very friendly staff.
But rooms were small, breakfast had very limited choices and was very cramped, often area was too small for the number of guests, the deco was dated, there was no glassware when we asked for glasses in the evening was given plastic cups.
Every morning we found the showers didn't provide enough hot water, it was bearable but water would get cool during shower, so wasn't enjoyable.

Most definitely NOT a 4* hotel!! I would rate it 2-3*. I would only recommend if getting a very cheap deal or price is comparable to other 2-3* accommodation.

Comfortable hotel and very good location

This is a great little hotel just outside the main historic centre but within easy walking distance of all. The Coliseum is the closest and takes about 20 minutes to get there, 10 minutes to the nearest Metro station (very easy to navigate) and several nice local restaurants with good food. The staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable, good shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast is good, all buffet self service but did lack fresh fruit. Other than that all good and would highly recommend.

Nice staff. Nice outside area and small roof terrace. Not much to do immediately outside but more restaurants are a walk away

Only complaint would be that the bath didn't drain well at all when having a shower - mentioned to them a few times and they stated it was ok.( which it wasn't)

1.9 miles to Colluseum. Easy stroll on a nice day

Staff helpful in ordering taxis.
Overall good for those on a budget

A Fair Hotel - you get what you paid for

Room: I stayed in two different rooms in the hotel:

- do NOT let them put you in a room on the bottom floor facing the street. This is the room I INITIALLY got. The air conditioning wasn't working properly and the Tram is very loud. Couldn't get any sleep at all. It was like sleeping next to a runway.
- The shower has a very unusual set up... instead of a shower curtain, they have a glass barrier/door that only extends HALF the length of the tub. You have to be very careful in order for water not to get all over the floor.
- the mini safe they provided was also labelled as \"out of order\"....

After complaining about these things, the concierge allowed me to switch to a room on the third floor, facing AWAY from the street.
- air conditioning was awesome, shower was cramped but adequate. No real complaints.

Common areas:
- the hotel is very small. The breakfast is very minimal ( cereal, bread, deli meats, juice, coffee). The dining room is very cramped.
- nice dining area in back.

Location:
Pros:
- less than 10 min walk from the closest metro station. Less than 5 min walk to a convenient tram stop.
- you can get pretty much anywhere you want to visit in Rome in less than 30 minutes from here.
- a couple of restaurants, a super market, a gelato place and plenty of convenience stores within 10 minute walk west.
Cons:
- hotel is located facing a busy road with a tram line on it (VERY LOUD if your room faces the street).
- the area just north of the hotel is pretty sketchy

We stayed in a triple room with our daughter. It had a double bed and a twin bed with little space to walk around. Room and bathroom were in good condition. We had hot water and clean towel service.

Nicest Staff Ever!

The staff at this hotel was EXCELLENT! Very kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond the first night we were there in helping us with my mom in her confused state. Gave us an excellent recommendation for a restaurant that was close to the hotel. The breakfast provided was great too! Plenty of fresh meats and cheeses and bread!

Short cheap break we needed!

We arrived to a warm welcome! Had a room 401 which was nice! But no hot water for most of the day! As all I wanted was a warm shower before I set off to see beautiful Rome! But had to have when we got back in the evening!
Breakfast is continental love the rolls! But gets a bit boring after 4 mornings of exactly the same!
I will say it's quite far out! On the first night of coming home I felt unnerved walking back to the hotel! But then got to know area was ok & felt safe!
Thanks for a pleasant stay!

Lovely hotel. Great staff. Very welcoming and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Little bit noisy with the trams outside as it was a room at the front of the building, but was fine. Close to metro and within walking distance of main attractions of Rome. Would definitely recommend to a friend or stay here again.

The only draw back was we had a room on the tram side and they ran (noisely) until 11 00pm each night. I understand that the hotel is due for fairly extensive renovation from now until the summer of 2017.

Although the location of the hotel by itself is a great it lacks a lot of basic stuff . The breakfast is not to Rich; I had the problem in my room and I asked to fix it on the bathroom for the five days I stayed it was not fixed I think they should work more on their stuff they should work more on showing clients a little bit more respect and answer

Wonderful experience. Rooms might be slightly small but was more than adequeit .
The quality of the furnishings far exceeds any top city center hotels. Two inch solid wood doors keep out noise. So quiet we thought we had the hotel to ourselves.

Nice hotel, not far from the centre of rome

Helpful staff. Clean room, if a little on the small size. Terrace is nice out the back for smoking and breakfast. But full of mosquitos though, maybe as it was very hot while we were there. Good for a short stay sightseeing in Rome. Theres a supermarket at the top of the road. We ate in a nice little restaurant very near by on the 1st night, recommended by the hotel. Metro is a 15 minute walk away, easy and quick to get around. The staff helped us by checking our bus back to the airport was all arranged and let us leave our suitcases there on our last day as we weren't flying till the evening.

Small with good transport links

The hotel feels more like a bed-and-breakfast than a 4+star hotel but it is comfortable, clean, with good air-con; and the staff are courteous and helpful.

Rooms are quite dark and there isn't a lot of space, but they are comfortable and clean.

The breakfast area is a little cramped but there is a patio which you can use which is very pleasant on a nice day. There are also some good small restaurants nearby and excellent transport links (tram, metro, bus and train). The airport shuttle buses drop-off and pick-up about a mile away at Termini station (two stops on the metro, 10-min tram ride).

I would stay here again if I was visiting Rome.

Good and bad...

Noticed graffiti on the exterior walls of nearby buildings as I was being dropped off. Went inside and the staff was very accommodating. Answered all my questions. I asked if they could take my bags in early (before 2 p.m. check in) and they were in my room when I returned 6 hours later. Nice free continental breakfast and patio area outside that you can eat. Room was very clean but the drain in the shower was clogged and got water on the floor. Location is very close to public transportation both train and bus. Bed was very hard.

Stayed May 26, went on a cruise, freturned and stayed two more nights in June. Desk staff directed us to a great restaurant and arranged for free shuttle and discount. This nearby restaurant was our favorite place to eat. The staff was very helpful and understood English very well. Arosh was very patient with us as we needed help anytime it involved calling any service we required - ie limo service to airport and cruise ship, printing of boarding passes, booking tours.

When I first arrived I was concerned that I might be too far away from everything, however after a day of walking around I quite enjoyed being away from the bustle.
It is a 20 minute walk to the colosseum and Termini train station (main station) is a couple of blocks away.
I must go back to the staff though, they really made my stay a welcome one, and as a single female travelling in Europe for the first time I really appreciated their assistance.

There are so many other nice hotels in Rome.Do not stay here. We couldn't move in the room, there was no hot water, and no bar. We had to wak to get a coffee. And the area isn't even nice- it's sketchy. I did not feel safe there nor was I happy.

Nice back-yard for open air breakfast

The hotel was a bit longer from the main railway station, than we imagined, but when we got used to metro and trams, it was ok. Though too far from the tourist atractions, to take the sieasta \"at home\". Nice, clean and well decorated room with nice bathroom, but I hope we got the smallest double room, because there was hardly space to empty the suitcases. A Nice surprise to find e beautiful back-yard reachable directly from the breakfast saloon.

Great air conditioning. Ceiling was beautiful plaster design. It was quiet. Room looked out on the back gardens of the next street. Room was tiny. I had no room to unpack my large suitcase. Can't imagine if two people were trying to share the room. Shower so tiny I barely fit and I am a thin female. Doors wouldn't close so the floor always covered in water. No tissues in the room. One tiny waste basket. Bed uncomfortable - you could see the sag in the middle. Buffet breakfast had good pastries, hard-boiled eggs and a good coffee machine. No waiter service. No room service as advertised. I actually got yelled at from the from desk for using the coffee machine at the end of the day to get hot milk to help me sleep.

From the outside this hotel doesn't look great. Inside you will find a well kept small hotel with great staff. The hotel is older but well kept with marble throughout. The rooms are not huge but are spacious enough. It's clean and the staff are great. We were even luckily enough to be able to check in at 11am instead of 2pm.
Breakfast is simple and the area could be bigger but it does the trick. It's a bit of a walk from the train station with luggage given the narrow sidewalks (about 15-20). It is super close to the subway which makes getting around really easy!!!
Close to a few good places to eat for supper as well.

Beware of Tax for staying in Rome.

They charge me 6 euros per night per person for staying in Rome. Not happy at all and was not informed when I made booking with Expedia. I was charge when I was checking out. Left a bad taste for us leaving Rome. They also want you to pay in cash. The guy on check out was not very friendly to add to the problem. Location was not in the city but if you like walking then it's fine.

Pros: Great, responsive service and friendly-when we got locked out of our bathroom they upgraded us to slightly larger room; nice breakfast spread, quiet hotel for the most part (except the woman’s high heels on the floor 5 am one morning)
Cons: Tiny check in area and small modest rooms-our first one had a shower so small it was a challenge to take a shower. Not the greatest location- near the train station (which was ok), but long walk from the main action downtown, and not the kind of area we’d feel safe walking around in at night.

I stayed in this hotel and it was not too bad, it is far from FCO, but it is only 20 minutes walking distance from the Colosseum, I got a cab to Vatican city and it was only 20 minutes away. The only thing I will say about this hotel is that a \"deluxe\" is extremely small, I am happy that I got one because I would hate to see how small a standard room was, although I have been to Europe many times I'm used to how small the rooms are.

Above expectations for the price paid, friendly and helpful reception desk. Has on street parking with meters. Room was good standard with great bathroom/shower. If on a budget, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay in Rome. Taxi journey to the main sites or a tram from outside the hotel is required.

This hotel is excellent. Great location to city. Quiet even though room faced the street. Trams/buses running past the door. Buy tickets from tabac just along the road. Good restaurants close to the hotel. Very helpful staff, great facilities and excellent value. We had a triple room, air conditioning, good bathroom facilities, lifts. No problems storing luggage after check out.

Don't have room 201!

The hotel and rooms were very nicely decorated, however our room, 201 was tiny! There was just about enough room for one person to stand up at any one time and no room to put your baggage. The bathroom was so small that I had to move into the bedroom to towel dry.
After checking the website I found that this was in fact a single person room, and not a double bedroom that I had paid for. I informed the hotel staff and they were unable to change my room to the one that I had paid for til the final day of our stay. Very disappointing.

the hotel was overall ok, it was overbooked the first day we've arrived so they have a different hotel booked for us. the rooms have nice design, but would not give it 4 stars, no coffee making facilities in the rooms, breakfast was ok but not much choice. also we've run out of hot water only to be told by the receptionist that we need to wait for 30-40min as the main central heater was switched off.

Comfortable hotel and an excellent base

The hotel was a very good base for exploring Rome, sufficiently removed from the noise and cost of the busy centre, but close enough to walk to the Colosseum (15 mins) or access the nearby metro/bus stops and several very good small restaurants. Reception and room staff were excellent and a room change request after problems with the shower were readily organised (breakfast staff perhaps less friendly for some reason). The patio was available for breakfast and drinks and was very clean, well kept and a nice spot to relax after a busy day seeing the sights.

2 STAR HOTEL WITH MINIBAR

Booked this thinking that as a 4 star hotel it would have some standards. Sadly not. Room was tiny and bathroom had no tub despite our informing hotel at booking and subsequently we had a 14 month old infant. Could barely move around room. Hard, old mattress and one small pillow per person. Loos and leaky appliances in bathrooms; generally old and tired looking; bedspreads made from same cheap poly fabric as the curtains.

To be fair to them they did provide a travel cot which they allowed us to use outside the hotel on one occasion. Also staff are friendly and helpful to the best of their ability. They moved us to a larger room with a bathtub on the second night. And free breakfast is generous if not of the highest quality.

All in all a big disappointment and a classic example of a hotel that ticks the boxes to get its star rating whilst the quality and amenities are 2 star at best

Excelent for tourism!!

The hotel is very well located. You can walk to almost every tourism hot spot in downtown Rome. I. E., only 10 minute walk to the Collosseo, 5 minute walk to Piazza dei Cinquecento and Termini train station and 2 minute walk to the nearest Metro (subway) station, through which you can go to almost anywhere in the city, including Vatican City (you can still walk if you want, but it would take you like 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Rooms are very comfortable, neat and clean. Facilities are well adapted to modern standards and ther is free wi fi in the rooms, even though signal's strenght is highest in the lobby.

Breakfast included and ok.

Staff very nice and helpful. All in all, worth the money and perfect for tourists who don't want to overpay.

Not impressive hotel

Bed, bathroom, dining room, elevator are very small. Hallway is small and narrow. Thin wall between room isn't noise reduction. There was a big high school group (~20-30 teens) at that time during my stayed. They were loud and crowded in the breakfast room.

I am Asian- American. I felt claustrophobic
Bathroom is as small as the bathroom in the airplane. You can't bend down to clean your legs at all.

This is not the hotel for Caucasian travelers at all. Not even if you are Asian size. Everything is too tiny for the price you pay. They made me open 3 rooms for 5 parties. They won't allow me to open 2 rooms.... just to make more Euro and the room space is very limited....unable to add extra bed.!

Nice hotel close to main station

An enjoyable 5 day break to Rome. Weather was pleasant allowing us to enjoy our tours of the main points of interest such as the Vatican, Sistene chapel, Colosseum, Spanish Steps and zoo.
People very friendly and cooperative. Far too many souvenir sellers near the points of interest.

In a not so good neighborhood but close to public transportation which is a plus. Breakfast serve is very good. The room is clean and new. The staff should smile more and should make their guests feel at home. They should talk to their guests more.They seem lack hospitality. The people outside are more hospitable and cheerful.

Small price, small room!

Smallest room we have ever stayed in! Décor was nice, comfortable beds but could barely walk around the bed!
Breakfast basically only tinned fruit and dry pastries and dining area so small and poky, you had to wait until someone left to physically get up from the table.

Nice hotel

The hotel itself was very nice, it was clean, the staff were friendly and the rooms were a good size for a couple. Hotel itself didnt have much you could do but obviously you are in rome so the time spent in a hotel is quite small. Hotel is 5 mins away from a metro station from which you can get just about anywhere in the city.

Very bad hotel

When i got into my room, there were pubic hairs in the toilet and bed! House keeping went up and started screaming at me and saying that se was not loosing get Job because of me. I had to pay an extra room for them to change me and since they were angry, the receptionist was rude and said to me \" now, what do u want? Because the housekeeping Spoke to him and he told me that she has worked there for 5 years and that they know how she works\" there is no place to put soap and shampoo in the shower, have to put it on the floor, bed was horrible and Room was hot!! Expedia sells it as a four star and i had to pay dou le the price for that 2-3 star hotel

Couple in their 50's

The staff where very friendly and always ready to help and answer questions and give suggestions. The room even though small was comfortable and really loved the fact that we could open the window. The bathroom had everything that was needed. The shower was a bit small and suited to younger people. The hotel was very close to all transport, train, tram, buses. 10 min. walk to these. Even though breakfast was not a hot breakfast it was very nice. We found it was sufficient, fresh daily and tasty. We really enjoyed our stay here at Best Roma and would come back.

Handy for transport to all areas, Manzoni Metro station within 5 minutes, bus stop and trams outside front door, good local amenities,(supermarket, restaurants).
Compact rooms, (we had a superior room for 3, room for 2 would be perfect)
Friendly knowledgeable staff.
3 day pass on all transport costs $16.50, great value

Great hotel for sightseers

The hotel is in a good location - 15 minute walk to the colosseum! When we checked in the receptionist was really friendly. He gave us a map of Rome and circled sights he recommended we go see on it along with useful bus/train info. We would never have seen so many beautiful sights if it hadn't been for him! Will be recommending this hotel to friends for sure!

Great place to use as a base to explore Rome from!

Hotel Best Roma is a good hotel to stay in to explore Rome. It is relatively close about 1.5km to the Termini train station in Rome which is a hub for trains and buses. The area is relatively safe if you travel with others. You can also take a tram or bus for 1.50 Euro to the Termini station from 1 block away from the hotel, it takes about 10 minutes to get to the Termini station.

The breakfast is standard continental European which is pretty good to be included in the room cost. The room is a little small from North American standards but it was clean and had what was required. We spent only time to sleep and shower in our room and thus it worked out perfectly to allow us to explore Rome as tourists. Good value for the money. The only thing I would change for next time is to be a little closer to the Termini station.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience,since the superior triple room we reserved and fully paid was not available. They gave us a simple room with 3 beds, after complaining they change us to a triple room but super small. We complained d again and finally were send to another hotel, without compensation for the first night nor the loss of time and aggravation.
The hotel,is small, breakfast poor and the staff was not kind. This is NOT a 4 stars hotels, but a poor 3 stars.
