Absolutely loved this bushland cottage with everything you need inside for a relaxing stay. The bush setting with dozens of kangaroos, cows and sheep at nearby farms, beautiful trees and just a 10 minute drive to Margaret River village and not much further to all the local wineries and craft beer breweries. Super convenient!

What a delightful cabin in the woods
Just perfect , very well stocked out cabin with two bedrooms , clean tidy and secluded giving that feeling of complete privacy
Really comfortable beds , great for the kids too
Amenities included outdoor decking and bbq
Perfect woodland retreat and close to Margaret river yet far enough to give that real sense of peace and tranquility
Stayed in spring but can imagine winter with a log fire ( all provided ) would also be exceptional

Experience at Bussells Bushland Cottage

Great family vacation spot. Kids are able to run around freely and safely whilst taking in nature. Cottages are well equipped for everything you need. Few min drive to main strip in Margaret River whilst getting the fee of being out in the bush. Would definitely return.

Fabulous forest stay

Quaint rammed earth cottage in forest setting with kangaroos & bird life on doorstep. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, brekky provisions a lovely treat and great to be provided with litre bottles of milk & OJ & not long life rubbish Comfortable bed with electric blanket. Log fire was a treat during the wintry weather we had. Walking trails on property are an easy enjoyable walk. Lovely relaxing forest stay. Highly recommended.

Heaven in the bush

My husband and I have just had a wonderful 5 day stay at Bussells Bushland Cottages at Margaret River. It was so relaxing and after exploring the area it was always wonderful to come home to our little haven in the bush. Being rammed earth the temperature was always comfortable even though some of the days were pretty hot and a couple of the nights quite cool. There is reverse cycle air conditioning and ceiling fans and a wood heater if any of these are needed.

The cottage was so well appointed and had everything we needed. I was very surprised to hear that the cottages were refurbished 9 years ago. They are so well maintained that I assumed it was far more recent than that. I love that they are well separated from neighboring cottages so you felt as if you were the only ones there. We never heard any other people even though they were pretty much booked out most nights.

Due to being mid-summer there wasn’t quite as many birds as would be seen in the cooler months. But there were quite a few to be seen and heard - especially the red-tailed black cockatoos which are stunning birds. There are quite a few kangaroos in the adjoining farms. There are numerous tracks through the property so it is nice to wander around and enjoy the bush. The coast isn’t too far away and the Margaret River town is just 7kms away so you are pretty handy to all that is on offer in that part of the South West.

Nice stay. Beautiful bush land setting. Lovely greeting upon arrival. Very close to town. Wasn’t a big issue but providing paper towel/ gladwrap would be really good. Also we couldn’t connect to wifi (no signal) apart from that we had a nice peaceful rest.

Magic cottage in bushland. Super clean and the fire was so welcoming. Managers Jon and Ange are marvellous and even left a complimentary bottle of red and some food for breakfast in the cottage. Lots of kangaroos which was beautiful. Will definitely come again.

The cottages are all far enough apart that you feel like you are in a secluded bushland setting. Watching the kangaroos and birds from the verandah was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Had a visit from 2 very friendly 28s on arrival. The cottage was well equipped & comfortable. We really enjoyed the bushwalks and exploring the property. Centrally located it was a short drive to Margaret River, Cowaramup & Caves Rd. We will be back with the whole family next time!

Be prepared for the cold in winter.

Cottage was good in general except the heater from the usual fan coil unit was insufficient as heating was only available in the main room but not the two bedrooms, which meat it was really cold at night. Fireplace was as usual good enough to heat the main room but insufficient heat for the two bedrooms.

Dodgy incident

More than 2 days after checking out of our cottage while my family was in Albany, We were emailed a picture of a broken window and slapped with a AUD$200 charge to my credit card. In the email, We were also accused of breaking the window and then making a run for it. Questioning our integrity. There was no prior correspondence or call before this email.

We were firm that we did not damage the window and I wrote to the cottage management to seek for recourse. The cottage management was unyielding and did not lower the charge.

Unfortunately, the whole incident felt dodgy and we end up paying needlessly a lot more for our stay. I have never encountered such an incident before in all my years of staying in chain hotels and needless to say, I will not return.

The setting was idyllic in the bush land with plenty of areas to walk in and see the wildlife. There were Kangaroos grazing when we arrived. The cottage was clean and very well equipped with comfortable furniture and beds. An exceptionally pleasant experience all round.

The cottages are nestled between trees, with lots of space between them for excellent privacy. Lots of wildlife around, a very quiet relaxing place, well equipped cottage, great, central location to reach many interesting beautiful places north and south of Margaret River (which is bery close for groceries restaurant etc). We loved the kangaroos in front of our door and the possum's visit at night. Bobtails and skinks came by, and among the many birds were Black-tailed Cockatoos. We loved the place! Host has compiled a list with lots of tips and ideas.

Absolutely lovely place, spacious but cozy, once we got the wood fire burning, we did not even bother going out for dinner, I drove to Margaret River and bought back Restaurant takeaway. (both nights ! A wonderful rammed earth cottage. everything you need.

Amazing cottage within the forest!

A property that’s managed very professionally ... from the time of checkin (fuss free), to a welcome kit (including a bottle of wine, full set of 1st day breakfast with juice, milk and bread and a welcome stylus pen!) and a fully equipped kitchen with quality products. It’s never boring here as there are walk trails and some of the trees are labeled with colors that’s explained in a fact sheet (it became an activity for my 4.5 year old daughter to spot the trees). It’s a wonderful experience for us to be so close to nature and having kangaroos visiting our cottages. We loved spending the time in the cottages, esp during this rainy season! Though we have not met the owners during the stay, I am impressed with how they’ve documented their journey to revamp and their commitment to these cottages. Their attention to the details in the cottage is simply awesome!

A perfect place for a winter break. Although the weather outside was pretty bleak we were nice & cosy inside with the wood fire. All the amenities we needed, clean & very comfortable. Close to everywhere but you would think you were miles from nowhere & although all the cottages were full we never saw a soul. Highly recommend.

Loved staying here. People need to be aware that the small writing at bottom says second bedroom costs. I believe this should be clear at the top under more details. It is an extra $30 per night for the second room.

We were happily surprised with the location and quality of these cottages in the bush. If you want to be close to Margaret River (5 mins drive) but want some peace and quiet, this is the place to go. Plenty of wildlife to explore. Nothing flash but good quality and very clean. Great for self-catering too with lots of kitchen appliances and tools.

Gorgeous place, great location. Just enough distance between the cottages for good privacy. Excellent accommodation, all you need to be very comfortable. Breakfast bits were a very nice touch and much appreciated. Great for couples and there appeared to be families in other cottages. No interference from them tho. Close enough to town, taxis no problem. Mobile coverage isn't brilliant, which is as good as it is bad. Not the owner's fault there...

Great place, modern, clean and very private. The manager was super friendly and whilst it felt like we were staying in the bush we were a quick ten minutes to town and in the depth of winery country. The house was roomy and perfect for a few days away.

If you are looking for privacy, a bush setting, and decent fully self contained accommodation at a very good tariff. Bussells Bushland Cottages should suit you perfectly.
Everything is supplied, including a large outdoor setting and a guest laundry, a thoughtful amenity when you are travelling.
We found the bedding super comfy to sleep on, large wardrobe, and enough floor space for your suitcases.
Air-conditioning, and ceiling fans took care of our comfort, and the starter breakfast pack of cereal, bread ,and spreads was a nice touch.
It is a nice package at a nice price, in a nice place,it's a yes from us.!!

Cottage is in a perfect location for exploring Margaret River and even a day trip to Augusta. Lovely setting in the bush with Kangaroos hopping around and plenty of other wildlife to enjoy. Cottage was clean and we'll equipped with everything we needed for the long weekend, the starter pack for breakfast was a great and appreciated touch. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and couldn't go enough. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely quiet location close to the heart of it all

The cabin was incredibly well appointed with every little thing we thought of needing. The fireplace was great on the chilly nights and the location was just an quick 8 minute drive out of town. Secluded but still close to everything. The perfect place to base yourself for winery tours or just getting out and about in the region.

Soup for the soul

This delightful cottage lived up to our expectations. It was quiet, with well signed walks on the property. Kangaroos visited at dawn and dusk, and watched us as we watched them. The cottage was spotless and had all the amenities one needed in a home away from home. Although it provides solitude it is also very close to Margaret River and surrounds. I would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location and accommodation, fully self contained in a very relaxing environment with a country/bush feel. Accommodation was for a couples cottage with two queen beds. Wotif did not advertise the room correctly and on receiving my booking confirmation I was informed the following: The room rate for 1 or 2 persons is based on occupancy of 1 bedroom. Where guests require to use the 2nd bedroom, an extra bed charge will be levied, otherwise the 2nd bedroom will be locked. Wotif needs to update their advertisement of this as it isn't mentioned at all!

We were there for the Leeuwin Concert and it was a great place to stay. A short drive to the concert venue and great for driving into town for breakfast. The hosts were friendly and provided some milk, juice, cereal and bread for the first day's breakfast. Everything else was self-catering.

Close enough to Margaret River town centre for convenience yet set on beautiful grounds. Kangaroos, native birds and trees at your doorsteps. Eating dinner with kookaburras is amazing. Trees are marked with discs for easy recognition. Nothing has been forgotten in the cabins for the guests comfort or convenience. Great recommendations of the area from the owners.

Fabulous Bushland getaway.

The fully self contained cottages are wonderful. The gabled roofs give that extra spacious feeling and with all amenites, including a woodfire, you just need to bring your food and drink. Our hosts also provided a lovely simple starter breakfast which got us going the next morning. The bushland setting is wonderful and the cottages are very private.
My elderly mother and I were delighted with the wondrous birdlife surrounding the cottage and even had a friendly skink in the bathroom skylight! The bush flora was a delight as well with a lot of the native orchids and wattle showing their colours.
We even saw some roos having an evening feed on our mini bushwalk behind the cottage.

Weekend getaway down south

This is our second stay at Bussell Bushland Cottages and we love this place. It's comfortable and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. It has a full kitchen and wood fire heater. It's only a few mins from the town centre but tucked away on the bushland block so we had kangaroos hanging around out the front with their joeys which was beautiful to watch. You can go for short bushwalks around the property too which is also really nice, you can see kangaroos hanging out on the neighbouring properties. I can't remember her name but the manager is really lovely also and took the time to have a nice chat and was able to suggest number of things worth checking out. They also have some discount vouchers for guest to use at a few different places.

Loved the bushland vista and accessible bushland tracks. Kids really enjoyed the opportunity to come out at night and spot possums and other wildlife. Close to the centre of Margaret River; plus the manager was very helpful and friendly.
