Such a peaceful and confortable stay at Edge of the Forrest motel. We only stayed 2 nights but they were 2 of the most comfortable and peaceful nights we've had on any overnight stays. The king bed is heavenly and Steve keeps the room temperature perfect so that you don't freeze even in winter. The bed also has heating but I never had to use it.
The forrest surroundings are lush and serene and the brewery is just a quick walk down the back trail by the forrest. The town centre and everything you'd want to see is within 20 minutes walk from the motel so transport was not a problem. Steve's dog Clover is gorgeous too and loves pats. Would highly recommend staying here if you want a quiet, comfy place that isn't far from all the fun.

Steve is a great host. He was quick to share lots of information and answered all our questions as first-timers to beautiful Margaret River country. The rooms and grounds are first-rate. Downtown shopping and restaurants are a short walk, but Edge of the Forest is really in the edge of the forest. We loved our stay and hope to return.

We’ve stayed in numerous hotels/motels in and around Margaret River over the last 15 years, and this motel is the friendliest we’ve ever experienced. Steve was great to deal with and chat to, and the accommodation was good. We’ll definitely be back.

We love Margaret River and being able to walk into town for dining is fantastic, but the motel is far enough out of town to chill out in the native bush that surrounds the property. If you’re unsure of where to eat then ask the owner, he’s been in the area for sometime (Local) and has his finger on the pulse, but remember to book a table or you could be disappointed.

On the Edge

Edge of the Forest is also Edge of Margaret River so I think we were looking for something a bit more woodsy. The location is a convienant 10 minute walk to town and a brewery is about 75 meters away. Steve, our hosts, was awesome and mixed business with personal requirements perfectly. It is nice to see someone own a business but still able to put a sign on the door saying \"Morning Sports with the Kids, back around 11\" - it says something about the person.
The room was small but cosy and the bed was extremely comfortable. There are some renovations going on so a bit of banging but that will be completed soonish. The garden you see in the picture was very nice along with a grill we cooked gorgious steaks on.
No welcome gift and for being in wine country that was kinda odd but no points deducted since that is a bonus vice a requirement.
I guess I was disappointed in the lack of open space and living amongst the trees. I mean - lots of trees. The setup was similar to a motel, but it was nicer than that, hard to explain.
Overall, I'd give Edge of the Forest a 7.8 as I am a tough grader overall.

The secret is out.

Nestled on the edge of the forest as you come into Margaret River this small motel with only 6 rooms is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The rooms are spacious and housekeeping maintain a high standard of cleanliness. Steve the owner is very friendly and has a great knowledge of the area. There is a laneways down the back and a short one hundred metre walk to the Margaret River Brewing Company who have an alcoholic ginger beer to die for.

A short drive down the Main Street gives you ample options for dining out. Pubs, Chinese and Thai food to mention a few.

Highly recommend this gorgeous little boutique motel. Our room spacious, well equipped for longer stays, great beds, wonderful shower quiet sleeping at night. Lush surroundings & fabulous host, Steve and best of all Clover ( pet dog ). Short 5min walk to all the Quaint little town of Margaret River has to offer.

This is a small complex in a quiet bush like setting. The owners make you feel very welcome, I was even escorted to my room and had the services and dining options explained. Although there are no dining options on-site there are many options just down the road.
I certainly enjoyed the stay and would certainly book again if I needed to stay in the local area.

Great location - 5 minute walk into main Street of Margaret River. Motel room small but very comfortable. Microwave & basic kitchen utensils supplied which were very useful. Bed & pillows a little hard for us but still comfortable. Staff very friendly & helpful. Fabulous gardens & little patio area for each room.Highly recommend for 1-2 people.

Secluded Quality stay with good amenities

Everything was perfect and reflects the 9.6 rating on Hotels.com. its all as they say and better. Nice cosy place within Margaret river town and we found it easy to cook with the quality BBQ in the garden, and enjoy a meal alfresco in the well maintained secluded grounds.

We loved our short stay at this lovely place. The room was spotless. Bed and pillows great. We were happy to see plates, bowls, toaster, microwave & cutlery. We had breakfast on the little veranda over looking the beautiful gardens. The lovely town was just a short walk away. The owners were great too. The lady told lots of places to see and eat.
