I never met a staff person, so I can't say anything about that. I DID have direct text communication, however. The entire establishment is adorable and full of character. Those espousing sterile chain places may not like it much, but those - like me - who love reclaimed character will have GREAT appreciation for this beautiful gem. VERY comfortable and squeaky clean. The \"backyard\" view of the mountains is more than only breathtaking. I'd add a photo if I could, but \"something\" isn't cooperating and I can't upload one.

Although right off Route 26 in Saluda, NC this property is quiet and has an amazing view of the mountains. There is a communal courtyard overlooking the valley and mountains and a small bar area for gathering. My room was perfect with all the amenities you would expect.

Came down from OHIO and this was a nice small, quite place. Totally recommend.

Only thing i didnt like was when you first walk into the room its a little musty. But overall view in the back was beautiful!!

New owner, new name: Green River Lodge

The room looked like the photo. This is an old style motel with a wonderful view. Not all rooms get the view but all rooms get access to the view. Our room had a back door that led to the common back yard with the view, a fire pit, and a sauna. If we stayed a second night we would have tried both but tonight it was storming. There were some problems with the room but in the morning we spoke with the new owner, a local. She is getting repairs done and has plans to restore Appalachian character. It is close enough to the highway that you can hear some trucks. The driveway is a one way loop and the GPS tried to take us past the entrance. Look for the sign with the new name.

I spent a week at the property as I had business in Tryon NC, and this motel was 15 minutes to the event. It was quiet at night for the season I was there which was in March but still steady people staying. There was unfortunately a wild fire at the time but the staff kept us updated in the event of evacuation. The rooms are clean and are being updated as under new management. The views are stellar behind the motel. A work in progress but I think the new owners have a good plan for the motel and are working toward the progress daily. I spoke directly to them and they were friendly and very southern hospitality.
The little town of Saluda is a sweet spot in those mountains. The Wildflour bakery I’m told is the best all around but get there early in the mornings for their sticky buns, they don’t last long. I had pizza there on Friday night and it’s the best I ever tasted. Wakey Monkey coffee shop is a must stop also. Fresh home baked pastry’s and breakfasts and lunch served daily till 2. Coffee was fresh and delicious, owners were sweet southern kindness. The whole town has great history and everyone who lived there are more than happy to share stories. Trangie, the Mayor of Saluda told me much of the history along with VIVi in the visitors center. I highly recommend this motel for a great get away stay tucked in the beautiful mountains in NC. Lots to see all around the area and short distances to each place from Early Blue. Come back for a relaxing fire and quiet.

My wife and I stayed at the Early Blue Motel this past weekend, and we had a great experience. The check-in process was simple and straightforward, which got our stay off to a smooth start. The motel’s location is very convenient, being close to the town of Saluda, NC, and easy access to Interstate 26 made traveling easy.

The room was spotless, which we appreciated, but the highlight of our stay was the breathtaking view. It's absolutely stunning and undoubtedly the best reason to stay here. We’re already planning to return so we can enjoy the scenery in different seasons.

Check-out was just as smooth as check-in, making the entire process hassle-free. We highly recommend Early Blue Motel for anyone looking for a clean, convenient, and scenic getaway!

Stayed here the night before dropping our kids at a nearby sleepaway camp and it was great! We were in one of the original rooms - no frills, but was clean, fresh and had comfortable beds.

The backyard overlook area has breathtaking views and lots of great outdoor furniture and games to enjoy.

Loved the little town of Saluda just down the road for dinner and shopping!

Early Blue is a gem!!! Stunning views of the mountains. Crazy convenient to Saluda, Tryon and Hendersonville. Staff are friendly, and helpful answering any questions we had. We will definitely be going back soon! Can't wait to see the leaves change in the fall. Make sure to get a view of the mountains with access to the courtyard. You'll love it!

We were very pleased with this motel. We didn't contact the owners until late in the day. They responded back promptly with arrangements for the room and key. The room was clean and ready for us with towels and a message to contact them if we needed anything. Very hospitable.
Location was good, right off the road.
This is an 'old-style' motel that the owners have modernized. They were currently upgrading some other units which was a positive thing to see.
bonus was that we had an absolutely gorgeous view of the mountains in the evening out our back door.

The property is undergoing renovations, on a room-by-room basis, but hadn’t reached the room we were assigned. I wondered why all the other cars were parked on the other side of the facility. Supposedly we were paying for one of the upscale rooms with two queen beds. It was clean but a bit cramped. One of the mattresses made squeaking noises and the HVAC was loud and finding a comfortable setting was a bit of a challenge. Beautiful view of the mountains from the rear of the property.

I found the stay to be quite peaceful. Standing on the top of the mountain early in the morning, taking in the air & view was unparalleled to any place I’ve stayed before. Going down the mountains to the river and seeing how crystal clear it was & listening to the flowing water. The small town restaurants down the road had great food. Will definitely recommend and return to this stay

On arrival the property was CLOSED with an emergency phone number on the office door. The calls were answered by voice mail. When the calls were returned the innkeeper was snarky and indicated that our reservation was for a later date, which it was NOT.
The portion of the property which was visible showed signs of poor upkeep. (Admittedly the innkeeper stated that the property was closed for maintenance). Amenities were lacking compared with other properties at this price.
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. ZERO STARS OR LESS.

This little lodge was like a “Diamond in the rough”. It was very clean and the rooms were nice but nothing fancy, a little outdated. Bed was very comfortable and the AC worked and it is a place I would stay at again when I’m back in the area. The employees were so kind and very welcoming.

The view was amazing morning and night. Cute little outdoor area. The walls were thin and our neighbors came in late (and noisily), but turning on the fan helped. The rooms could use some updating, but the beds were nice (and comfortable), and it was super close to great local restaurants and the small downtown area.

Very clean and convenient. Overpriced for what you actually get. Nice view and nice people running the place. Not a bad place to stay, I just feel that the price was too high. I have stayed in other area hotels that were a little nicer for much less. TV remote only worked if you typed in each channel number and no iron in the room.

Some of the reviews made this place sound terrible. People just like to complain. The outdoor security lights were NOT too bright. The room and bathroom was very clean. The room did have a microwave,refrigerator, and coffee maker. Our room had a regular bathroom so i am not sure why it says \"detached \" bathroom on expedia...perfect property for a dog as the are behind the rooms is fenced in! Is it a little outdated? sure...but its a mountain lodge, not a hilton in the city. Its a clean motel with and amazing mountain view and yard which are two things that you wont get in a hotel in Asheville.

Unpretentious & cute it was cozy. The location, high on a rock hill
with forest views helped add to the quaintness. The weather in the 33rd/12 state that is covered by the astrological sign Scorpio(secrets)
was refreshing & invigorating, at this time of year. This time it was hard to uncover any hidden messages but maybe next time. It was hard to breakfast there. Good Deal.

We arrived after the office was closed. I called ahead and our key was left in a safe place for us. We left before the office was opened. Even so it was a welcoming experience, the lights were left on in our room. Very clean, neat and comfortable! The scenery was beautiful! If we are ever in the area again this is the place we would stay. Next time hope it will be for a longer period of time.
