The hotel was very nice and the lady that checked me in was very helpful. We were only staying for one night and it looks like an excellent spot to jump on the public transportation. The only downside, which I knew going in, was that the rooms do not have air conditioning.

The hotel was very conveniently located as far as walking the city.

Desk staff was very accommodating, as our check in was 3 pm but our flight arrived at 7:45 am, and they let us store our luggage until check-in. They even offered check in as early as 1 pm. Desk staff also offered recommendations of things to do in the period of time between arrival and check in.

The hotel is not fancy, but very comfortable, safe, and provided all amenities we needed.

The only negative is that I booked the hotel specifically because of having an on-site restaurant/bar, but the restaurant/bar was closed during our visit.

Before leaving this review I read a few of the negative reviews of others. Some had decent things to say and some were just rude and expecting 5 star treatment in a 3 star place. This is a no frills hotel. You get what you pay for. Nothing fancy. And that is okay!! These hotels rooms are basic not for hanging out in all day. There are lots of things to do around the hotel so go explore!! Hotel am zoo is in a very convenient location. Close to coffee shops and bakeries and a good diverse selection of restaurants. Also, Our hotel room was clean and simply put together, it feels very safe here. Also the train station is just steps away from the hotel.
The staff at the front desk are very kind and courteous. They were extremely helpful to me when I was trying to figure out the train system and by a ticket to Aachen. I butchered many German words (my pronunciation is horrible) but they were very patient with me and figured out what I needed.
If you are looking for just a place to stay so you can explore the city then Hotel am zoo is a great option. Definitely recommend for the traveler needing a no frills but affordable, safe, quiet and clean place. 🤗

Highly recommend this hotel. For the price, comfort, and cleanliness, you can NOT go wrong!! It is in a great location with restaurants nearby. The main shopping area for Frankfurt is only a short 10-minute walk. The zoo is across the street.

The location and price were excellent. It’s hard to rate anything else as amazing, mostly because of the service. Our shower drain was plugged, and we reported it to the desk and were told someone would look at it the next day. Nothing happened. Also, the housekeeping staff regularly leave a lot of their equipment sitting on the stairs of the main stairwell in and out of the building, which is not just annoying, but also a safety hazard.

However the bed sheets and towels were not clean, I asked them to change them. TV was not working.

Good accomodation for my purpose (attending a seminar for a couple of days nearby). It's great that the zoo and many good restaurants are so close by. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint I would have is that the water in the shower didn't go away easily and that it's a curtain rather than glass (curtain was partially not hanging properly and let the water through. I've raised that point at the reception and they were going to look into it. I didn't try the breakfast, as I bought what I needed for the day in the small bakery at Friedberger Anlage (which is really good!)

Two things would maybe stop me from ever staying there again and it is a shame because I liked everything else about the facility and staff. The temperatures were in the 80s and there was no a/c which is normal for the area but so is the option of fans. The other, the facility has an outdoor cafe and though the business is closed, street people, guests and well anyone, uses it all night long to socialize. The noise carries i to the rooms, especially with the windows having to be open. If temperature comfort or quiet is a factor, this may not be a facility to consider.

A little odd, kind of run down, but safe and cheap

Desk staff was exceptional, the hotel itself not so much. The hotel was actually in a second building and more run down than let on. The sheets had little rips in them, as did the towels. The carpet was stained and the shower never truly turned off. It is in a safe area and I would recommend it to tourists who are willing to put up with a less than stellar, but safe and acceptable room. I believe the main building is much nicer so it's kind of luck of the draw, but again, it's a cheap hotel in a safe part of Frankfurt, so there is a trade off there. Easy to walk the area and you can get a train from the airport for about $5 right nextdoor.

Very good people there, the hotel is very convenient to walk downtown and Sachsenhousen. Then the train is right underneath the zoo station, which is very easy to remember. I am definitely coming back on my trip to Frankfurt

Erittäin epämukavat sängyt. Vastaanoton henkilökunta tympeää, eivät auttaneet esimerkiksi tavaroiden kantamisessa kun hissi hajosi ja piti päästä 4 kerrokseen matkatavaroiden ja 1 vuotiaan kanssa. Myös aamupalan maksullisuutta peiteltiin. Kirjautuessa sanottiin aamupalan kellonaika, mutta ei sitä ettei se kuulu majoitukseen. Hintaa ei ilmoitettu myöskään aamupalalla vaan vasta kotiin lähtiessä.

Ich habe nach einer Übernachtung und dem Check-Out später noch eine weitere Nacht gebucht. Das zweite Zimmer war wohl früher ein Raucherzimmer und hatte Teppichboden (das Zimmer in der Nacht davor Laminat). Wenn man wie ich etwas empfindlich gegen Rauchgeruch ist, stört das, obwohl alles sauber war. Man sollte bei der Buchung oder beim Check-In darauf achten, was ich aber versäumt hatte.

Ein Hotel, was in die Jahre gekommen ist, aber dennoch einfache, saubere Zimmer bietet, preiswert und ruhig. Sehr nettes Personal, guter Parkplatz, interessantes Umfeld, gute Anbindung an öffentlichen Verkehr. Genügend Kleiderbügel, bezw. . Haken im Bad, 2! Stühle, Bett und Bettzeug angenehm.Leider war Teppich fleckig aber wenn man keinen Luxus braucht, ist dieses Hotel sehr zu empfehlen.

Das Hotel ist gut gelegen. Das Personal am Empfang war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir überachteten 3 Nächte im Hotel und das Zimmer wurde nicht 1x geputzt! Wir haben das Zimmer auch erst gegen Mittag verlassen, haben aber das Putzpersonal am 2. Tag explizit gefragt ob sie nochmal kommen kann und sie hat zugestimmt. Sie ist aber nicht zurückgekommen…
Das Bad war allgemein bisschen schäbig und das Bett sehr unbequem.
Insgesamt für den Preis nicht empfehlenswert..
