I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast is simple and tasty and sets you up well for the day. It’s served on your own balcony which for us had a lovely view of Ella Rock. The guest house is located very close to the Main Street which his filled with restaurants and shops. The walk there and back is very steep, but you are in Ella!! The lovely man who runs this place is so friendly, helpful and welcoming. If you want a local feel this is the place for you.

We really enjoyed our stay in the villa. It was lovely and spacious, beds were comfortable and the location was excellent, close enough to the excitement without having to hear any of it. Poorna is very friendly and communicative and they did a great job with our laundry. We saw a mongoose in the yard whilst we were there in addition to the very cute dog that lives there. No air con which was fine but also the windows don't have fly screens on them so we were a bit reluctant to leave them open at night for fear of being eaten by mosquitoes so we relied upon the fans in the room. We didn't have a problem with hot water but we were also mindful to be quick. Overall a lovely place to stay near all the restaurants in town.

Great property for a quick stay. It is not a luxiourious stay, however the owners are kind and served an amazing breakfast. And the location is amazing. We would stay here in a pinch again! Would have given 5 stars, however we had a small issue with some ants in the washroom.

Luxury in Ella

This place is incredible! We were a little worried when our driver initially dropped us off with our bags at the bottom of the steep road and said the road was too tight for the minivan to get through. We walked a little further than we should have, but we found the hotel and as we were escorted to our room our mouths dropped. The room is incredible! We were 3 people, but this place was clearly meant for 6. Two king beds on either side of a little staircase that took you up to 2 single beds (loft style). This place would be perfect for friends or a family with kids. We almost wanted to cancel the rest of our trip and stay longer.
The room itself has a seating area, a kitchenette, a small fridge. The bathroom is provided with shower gel and shampoo (these are luxuries that are not provided in all hotels in Sri Lanka). The set up feels more like a guesthouse than a hotel room.
The location is wonderfully located next to all the restaurants and the shopping. We took a walk in the evening and had dinner at Chill Cafe (which was recommended to us twice by locals in different cities). Definitely can't wait to go back to Poomaz Peace Palace.

Beautiful place to stay in Ella!

Amazing, family-run place. We had a beautiful view of the mountain and they made us a delicious breakfast every morning. The staff were so friendly and accomodating. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. There is a very steep hill which can be hard if you are bringing yo your own luggage but worth it for the views.

Central location in Ella

We stayed at the Poomaz Peace palace for 3 nights. The accommodation is within minutes of the main street and because of the close proximity you can hear the live music each night. However the music usually does stop by 23:00.

The room was spacious and clean and offers a fridge, kettle, hair dryer, soap, towels and has a shared balcony where breakfast is served each morning. The wifi connection was good and Poorna the owner was very responsive and available via whats app for any requests or problems. ( We made a request for a spare blanket and a take away breakfast on our last morning. Both requests were facilitated efficiently)

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Poomaz peace palace. The only niggle I had about the room was the placements of the plug sockets meant that you aren't able to charge your phone from the bedside.

I would recommend Poomaz peace palace to anyone who wants to be close to Ella centre.

Very friendly staff and wonderful property. They are located close to the main area of restaurants and a quick drive to things like Little Adam’s Peak. The place itself is very nice and well maintained. Breakfast is tasty- what seems like the standard Sri Lankan breakfast, but well done.

Lovely view from the balcony

We spent two nights here and we were comfortable even though the room was basic. Breakfast on the balcony was lovely. There’s a steep climb back home after going down to the main street, so you will give your calves a good stretch, but it’s worth it for the view of Little Adam’s Peak that you get in the morning. Overall a very good choice of accommodation in a small, quiet guesthouse.

This is the PERFECT place. The host is amazing. The location is great, walking distance (1 block) to the main area of town but far enough away to be out of the noise and bustle. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast is amazing, served on a private terrace. Highly recommend.

Wonderful place!
Walking distance to the restaurants and main street ... poomaz is sooo nice you ask for anything and u will have it in front of ur door in one minute!
The breakfast is delicious, room spacious and so clean! You will feel at home. We even wanted to have some laundry but it was too late in the evening and the second day we were leaving he suggested to do our clothes in his private washing machine! I highly recommend the place

Great view, close to city but quiet

We had reserved at Poomaz but lost it at the last minute. Poorna helped us find another place for the night. On the second night we stayed at Poomaz. The room was clean and had a beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect away from the city. The only downside was some barking dogs in the middle of the night but the owners made them stop. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, Poorna. A great location in Ella, 1-2 minutes walk (down a steep hill) to the main street and perfectly located for hiking to Ella Rock/Nine Arch Bridge/Little Adam’s Peak. Clean, tidy rooms, large fridge, no air con but this wasn’t needed in Ella. Poorna arranged local trips for us via tuk tuk, very cheap laundry facilities, gave us advice about the area and the best routes to take for our hikes. He made contact via WhatsApp before our arrival and had our room ready for us early (no extra charge). He was responsive to messages quickly with helpful responses to our questions about our stay and the area. Breakfast was varied and delicious, made by him and his wife, served on our balcony. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Ella - from experience it was much better to stay just a few minutes off the Main Street, much quieter and beautiful views toward Ella Rock from the room.

Our stay at Poomaz Peace Palace was amazing! Poomer is such a great host. He helped us with what sights to see around Ella and how to get to them. He even drove us to our next destination!
The rooms were nice and clean. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Ella. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Don’t miss this place - absolutely incredible

This place was all I could ask for and more. Clean rooms, modern shower and bathroom with hot water, prefect central location, amazing balcony overlooking the mountains (unbelievable sunsets), and most importantly - amazing hosts that will help you with everything you need (they helped me get my laundry done asap, among other things). The homemade breakfast is delicious and unique, and you can choose when to have it right outside your room. I heard a lot about this place and really glad I got to try it. If they have availability—don’t miss out on this gem. Could not recommend this place more.

Utterly Fantastic Hotel! Highly Recommend!

This was easily the best hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka! The owner was so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was absolutely perfect. The balcony/patio situation was wonderful for working outside and relaxing. Also, the location is nearly unbeatable! I could not recommend this place enough!

Very pleasant stay with great communication from the host. Comfortable room with quiet fan. Room had a shared balcony with nice views over the town. Was provided with a pot of tea daily to enjoy on the balcony. Property is up a steep hill which was a bit of a challenge with a heavy case but easy to manage when on foot. Pub to bed in 5 minutes. Happy to recommend.

Fantastic guest house with devoted host

Beautiful guest house in great shape. The owner is a young man devoted to great service. He even drove us to the train station. We were a bit sceptical of the lack of AC, but Ella is a bit more chilly than the rest of the country, so it wasn't a problem. Also a very memorable breakfast.

This is a great spot! It is right the heart of Ella, and a great location to see all the nearby attractions. The owner is super friendly and helpful, greeting us with tea and cake, as well as providing tea and juice free, which was needed after some tough hiking. Our room was super clean and had a great view of Ella rock. The most welcoming, kind and helpful owner we’ve met! Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Great location, 1 min walk to city center. Host is a young lad, very helpful. The view from the terrace is awesome (Picture attached). Hot water available, no A/C but not required in Ella because it's in the mountains and slightly cooler. Walking distance to train station (10-12min walk) Based on the bedroom you get you may get a view of Ella rock from your window or step out into the shared patio. Breakfast spread well worth it, has sri lankan pancakes, toast, omelet, fresh brewed tea, coconut roti and side. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing time at Poomaz Peace Palace. We had a big room with an amazing view over Ella. Perfect lication and very close to restaurants, shops Etc. Vriendelijk personeel, kamers zijn op het eerste zicht proper maar badkamer is dringend toe aan een goede poetsbeurt. Douchekop zit onder de schimmel en wc pot was al in een hele tijd niet meer deftig gepoetst. Als je niets vraagt, weet je ook van niets betreffende mogelijkheden in de buurt of hotel. Maar dit is typisch Sri Likaans

Wij hebben enorm genoten van ons verblijf! De accommodatie was netjes, schoon en groot genoeg voor een gezin. Ook de locatie was ideaal – rustig gelegen, maar toch dicht bij bezienswaardigheden en restaurants.

Het personeel was vriendelijk en behulpzaam, en stond altijd klaar voor vragen of tips. Ontbijt was goed verzorgd.

Kortom: een plek waar we ons direct thuis voelden en zeker nog eens zouden terugkomen. Van harte aanbevolen!

Besviken tyvärr, toalettstol trasig men dom lagade nästa dag, dusch svårt att få igång varmvatten, vattentryck jättedåligt och i kranen kom ganska brunt vatten, super kallt på rummet och lite mosquitos då dom hade lämnat fönster öppna utan nät, handdukar dåliga, ingen tv. Frukost får ej att välja för en person på Expedia endast 2 fast man bokat för 1. Läget e bra centralt men ta med öronproppar. Frukost okej för 1300 men kaffet va mest vatten
