Old. Needs new carpet. Nice to have a refrigerator but it is right by your head going on and off all night. Wood base of bed sticks out so far you stub your toes or hit your shin constantly. I don't know if the other rooms have that base. Would be nice to have a hook in the bathroom or shelf to put clothes on for when you get out of the shower. Would also be nice to have at least one extra hand/face towel already without having to ask for it. Looks like they could have a nice restaurant and outside seating but it was closed and has been until they get a new chef. Door did not fit door frame so light came in from hallway across our faces while sleeping.
We will not stay there again.

Our pet friendly room was small and felt a bit cramped with furniture but the bathroom is huge. Although the mattress was comfortable, the mattress cover did not breathe and made us sweat profusely. Unfortunately, we figured too late to ask to place a few towels in between the mattress cover and the fitted sheet. We also had issues with the thermostat even when it was set on cool the air was hot (opening the windows helped to get fresh air). The staff was amazingly accommodating. Overall, it was a nice stay and allowed us to travel with our sweet golden retriever who loves to sleep next to us.

We could not turn off the air conditioning for some technical reason. As a result we had to move to another, smaller room on the other side of the hotel. In order to do that we had to contact the phone number on a welcome sheet, but the signal for that person's phone went in and out because he was 30 minutes away from Groveland. Finally, we moved into the other, smaller room, which was fine. And the person who helped us was, indeed, helpful and friendly. As a result, we had a room smaller than the one we paid for.

We were staying Christmas eve, so I called ahead to see if we would be able to get dinner that night. The gentleman i spoke said that the Groveland Hotel dining room was available Christmas eve and that they had \"plenty of openings\". When we got there, the dining room was closed. We asked the young woman at the front desk if there was somewhere we could eat; she said \"the Mexican place\" was open (without naming it or saying where it was), and that the Hotel Charlotte was \"probably\" open. Neither place was open. The man at the front desk at the Charlotte was actually helpful, and checked online and sent us to Firefall Ranch, where we had a very nice dinner. The room was nice enough, we liked the location, but we won't be staying there again

We loved this quirky hotel situated just next to a cowboy saloon established in 1842, with colourful characters sitting at the bar. My partner, with whom I fell madly in love 2 long months ago, gave me a run for my money on the bue pool table, both her and the table being in great condition.

Cozy hotel with nice balcony setting for happy hour and watching the sunset. Our first room was above the bar area where noise travelled, but maybe a given for an old structure. The air blew all night (could not turn it off), but once staff was alerted, we were kindly moved to another room with a working thermostat.

Not sure if people of color will feel comfortable

Very nice history and location was different. Loves most of the staff but there were 2 workers that I had issues with. My boyfriend is indeed a very large black man and the town had 2 other people of color which meant he stood out. However, the first night a thin man with blond hair rudely stared me down to the point of extreme discomfort and the next night a young blond girl acted like she was going to be attacked by him when he walked by. Someone needs to address that. However, there were other staff that was completely a pleasure to meet.

Horrible hotel stay!

The hotel was very misleading with saying completely remolded. It was very dated. There is no sound prooofing so you could hear everything going on inside the motel. We had the family suite and there were not truly 2 rooms. No door for privacy. The patio guests were up until 1:30am in the morning and we could hear ever word they said and every laugh. No sleep for us at all. When ever someone would go up and down the stairs it would creak. You could hear the neighbors coughing in their rooms. When someone’s toilet would flush etc. The hall light shined under the doorframes because the doors are so old. The carpet was so old and dirty, it had an oil on it and was gross to walk on bare foot. When we checked in there was no staff. We had to wait 45mins as the front desk staff was cleaning the rooms. We also didn’t get our breakfast that came with the room, as their kitchen cook quit. Last but not least we woke up in the am to bug bites on our hands and arms.

While the aesthetic and ambiance behind the hotel was nice to see and experience I couldn’t help but be disappointed. A beautiful hotel I was excited to have a good rest at Groveland before our trip to Yosemite, unfortunately my Adobe suite bedroom for the night was an unpleasant experience. The room was very warm and while I tried to text staff they couldn’t really help as it was after hours. For some reason the AC would not turn on. The staff next morning stated a portable cooler but that also was not working that night as the water attached to it was melted. I was very sad and wanted to enjoy. If staff ever want to contact for a refund or discount I would be happy to change my review. Staff were nice however for what I paid I did not enjoy my stay.

Hotel is a beautiful old historic building in a perfect location near Yosemite. Rooms are small but comfortable with tall ceilings. Thin walls so you will hear your neighbors a bit. Restaurant setting is beautiful with lovely live music on certain days but unfortunately was disorganized or understaffed with underwhelming food and frustratingly long wait times.

Small hotel but oh so sweet. Our flight was delayed and we let Taylor know in advance. He texted us to make sure we were ok on our drive down from Sacramento. We finally arrived after midnight and Taylor was so kind and gracious. Helped us with our bags and was just as sweet as he could be saying that our delay was no troubleat all! Looking for a lovely find of a hotel outside of Yosemite, this is the perfect spot to rest. We will return!

All about Sam!

Front desk staff Sam was the highlight of this place.
We had reserved and paid for a room with kitchen on Hotels.com. Once arrived they said none of their rooms had kitchen!!! And our room was to have two beds. Had to go back and forth to finally get one with a king and Murphy bed. Although that’s what we had paid for!
If it wasn’t for Sam being hospitable we would have left right away. As it was we ended up leaving a day early because the town and area had nothing much to offer.

Breakfast was awkward, and if you forgot to order the day before, they generally won't serve you unless there are leftovers or others who checkout without claiming their breakfast. Manager, Sam, was nice but unable to address issues. Dogs barking all night, people loud and roaming around hotel all night.

The location was right on Main Street and the staff was so nice and helpful. The only negative is the hotel has absolutely zero sound proofing. It is right next to the bar and other guests came in shouting and would wake up my kids. They would get fussy and then other guests upset kids are fussing. Two guests literally got into a shouting fight on a Saturday night, screaming the \"f\" bomb.
Hotel cannot control guests, don't blame them for that. Just a warning it could happen.
Hotel restaurant was also very lovely with live music.

Would recommend staying, maybe just not with small children.

I stayed in this hotel prior to climbing in Yosemite and needed an early night to get up at 2am. The hotel is perfect and if you are staying to relax then it's a nice place. Unfortunately there was a (great) Jazz band playing at the outside patio till 10pm which kept me awake, and then also a neighboring bar that played loud music till midnight .... again, nice hotel and good food if you just like to relax

Wonderful stop after a fun drive out of the valley. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Drinks on the balcony overlooking Main St. was a great way to unwind. Patio dining was a great feature and the food was excellent. Y only negative about this place was that the fee for our dog was very high (more than twice what we paid anywhere else while traveling). and was not revealed until we arrived.

Hotel is quite aways from Yosemite. It is in a town that closes up by 9. It was very difficult to find a place to eat. We knew the hotel served food, but then found out not on Monday and Tuesday which was when we were there. No elevator. Our room was called a suite. Bedroom was on small side and definitely dated. We could not control air temperature. There was a floor heater we could use, it te bathroom was freezing! It had been updated but the paint needed to be redone. Room was very pricey for what we got. The complimentary breakfast was nothing much. The hard boiled eggs were nearly impossible to peel. Most items prepackaged. Won’t be coming ba k.

Horrible experience. Hotel didn’t send instructions for after hours sign in. They put the key under the rug and I would never find it if not another guest signing in late who luckily had instructions sent to her phone. When we entered the room there was a dirty sleeping mask on the floor, speaks tons about cleanliness. Most important AC in the room # 7 is broken and we were struggling for a whole night with hot temperature! It stayed 78 even when we put it on 60. We couldn’t sleep at all. And we had a whole day hiking plans next day. We were exhausted. Hotel refused any compensation. Nobody ever contacted me with explanation even though front desk promised they would. STAY AWAY! The worst service and hotel experience ever.

The hotel is conveniently located near Yosemite and restaurants. It is an older building with lots of character and history with some modern conveniences. Our room was on the second floor—a long way for seasoned citizens to haul suitcases! The room and bath were small—the bed was too soft for us. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

I liked that the hotel is walking distance to other restaurants. The parking was nearby too. The front desk staff was friendly and provided verbal instructions.

The corners of the bed frame were exposed and I banged my leg. The room was small and did not have a lot of walking space. The hotel set the thermostat for the rooms and I woke up in the middle of the night to close the vents that were located in the ceiling.

They don’t tell you that at the end of September so much shuts down…the restaurant, plus you have to make your own bed and put out your own trash and go to the desk if you need clean towels. They say that someone is at the desk from 8 to 8, but that wasn’t true either. I went to check out at 10 am and no one was around to be seen. Disappointed for what we paid for this place!

The air conditioning and the coffee maker didn’t work in the room. The shower water was so hot I almost scorched myself. The sink was next to the bed outside the bathroom. I stayed 3 days and no one cleaned my room.
When I checked out, I was told to just leave the keys. Never asked about my stay.
I would not recommend this hotel.
The people in Groveland were sincerely nice and helpful. It is a nice community.

I enjoyed the fact it was a historical residence.
We accepted a 3 night stay but when we showed up we had to move ourselves after 2 nights to another room. Totally unacceptable and ridiculous. We took another room. This should have been already discussed. Our room was a little too small. Remove the unneeded chair.

The hotel was affordable and 30 min from the Yosemite gate and 60 min from the valley floor. It was Thanksgiving and the hotel was understaffed. Thanksgiving dinner was in the bar and they ran out of food and it came out cold. The TV was set on a cartoon movie for the child of a woman who worked there. Normally a bar would have football on esp for Thanksgiving. It was unbearable. The TV in our room didn’t get football either. It was difficult to set up onto our Xfinity account.

The staff was really nice. The bartender (man) gave us a lot of info on what was closed and he saved us a lot of time. The women that worked there gave decent restaurant recommendations.

Our room was really small and with the king size bed there was very little room to walk around. The bed was on top of a wooden box and we banged our legs pretty badly because the room was too small to walk around.

Parking was free and wifi was free.

This hotel is 108 years old and very well taken care of. The pizza factory was delicious and walkable. We enjoyed our stay in Groveland. My son is going n a wheelchair. Everyone was helpful and we had front row parking. My sons wheelchair is 23 for inches wide. We fit in all the doorways.

Our stay was ok - the experience was unique which is what one has to expect staying in a historical hotel.
No one at the desk except between the hours of 4-8pm. Of course, no elevator! Room on second floor - Our water was dirty/rusty for a few minutes - they did provide 2 bottles of drinking water. Central air - so no controls in the rooms. They did turn the temp down and provided me with a room fan that allowed me to be able to sleep.
The pillows were big and firm-fluffy and not comfortable to me - glad I had my own.

The staff was friendly and the location is great but the room I had really needed a facelift. There was a musty damp smell and when I entered the bathroom I found it. The white shower curtain had good 12 inches of red mold all the way across the bottom working its way up the fabric so I can only assume it never gets washed. Also there’s was no liner, just a wet cloth curtain. The hand towel had brown and black stains on it, probably someone’s make up. After seeing those two things plus a bunch of dust on the light fixtures, chipped paint on the walls, etc, I decided to leave a couple hours after checking in. Disappointed because I lost the $ I spent and it seemed like a nice place apart from the actual room.

Beautiful hotel in a quaint little town. I loved the balcony with seating area and the welcome drink is a nice gesture. The room itself is small but spotlessly clean and well equipped with fridge and coffee maker. It is approximately and hours drive to Yosemite valley. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this hotel to friends. We ate in the restaurant one night but the food was expensive and very average. There are much better restaurants within walking distance like the Iron Door.
