An okay stay on the way to Yosemite. I stayed in the older units next to the restaurant…it was noisy from the restaurant parking lot being right outside the unit. Not the cleanest, but fine for a one night stay. The lodge rooms may have been nicer and definitely quieter so I recommend booking one of those.

Terrible customer service. Check-in at the hotel is until 10 pm, but if you need to check in later, you need to call and let them know and pay about $28. The administrator called me at 9:30 pm, I couldn't answer right away, and they left a voicemail for me to call back. I called back at 9:35 (there is call confirmation). No one answered. I called many times. I also tried through customer service. I arrived at the hotel around 10:30 pm, but no one was there and no one answered. I do not recommend it to anyone

We booked one of the two private cabins on the property and it was so quiet! I loved that aspect. But - Probably one of the most uncomfortable beds - hard as a rock and every time your partner moves, it wakes you up.
Not bad from the outside, cute little porch with chairs, but once you take a closer look this place is not very clean. The ledge of the counter in the bathroom behind the sink had a layer of dust on it (yes I ran a clean towel over it) and the floor boards had the same layer. I assume whoever cleans does not know they need to dust, as well. It was super gross…. The floor of the main suite was okay; clean enough to walk with slippers on…
The water machine they have in the main office for refilling water bottles & such had bugs crawling all over it. Total turnoff but none IN the water :) Super friendly staff, bummed the hot tub was closed…. I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but location was great for Yosemite and visiting friends in Groveland.

Unfortunately this property had very offensive outdoor lights that they left on uselessly all night long even that ridiculous light on the porch of our cabin which we could not turn off. It made sitting on the porch horrible. You could not see a single star because of the inappropriate offensive bright outdoor lighting. HOrrible. WOuld never stay there again.

I am not typically a complainer, but the television was not connected to the direct tv box and not configured or working, there were noisey employees talking and playing music at the table directly outside our door, pubic hairs in our bed. Also the WiFi would not work. Bath faucet not working correctly. Other than that it was ok.

I would also recommend they tailor their curtains because the AC mostly cooled down their curtain and not the room lol.

There is only one reason why you are staying here .... and that is to have a bed to sleep in on a trip to Yosemite. Amenities? do they matter? they have a fire pit ... i did not see anyone using it.

The lodge is managed by the same place as the lodge next door, but having a different name. Check in is next door. There is a bar/ restaurant on property looked cool, but closes early.

I dont know what else to say, room was OK, nothing special. Clean but small. The trash truck came by at 8 am and sounded like they were picking up the same dumpster for 20 minutes straight waking us up. If you wake up early, it wont be a problem.

When we arrived I was concerned what the room would look like. The property needs a lot of work. It’s very rundown with buildings that need to be disposed of.

The personnel were great. Very nice. Answered all our questions and offered to change our room if we we were dissatisfied.

Our room was great though. The interior was spotless, bedding fresh and the bathroom was clean with plenty of available amenities.

So while the outside was a little worrisome, the room itself was great.

This place was honestly so cute and perfect. We went there to take a little vacation after being diagnosed with cancer, and I'm so glad we did. 10-15 minutes from the entry to Yosemite, 30-40 minutes to Hetch Hetchy, and everything was just gorgeous. The restaurant was good - good food, great service, with a cute lil gift shop. I do wish the store it looks like they used to have was open, but that's okay. Overall, definitely a repeat stay for us.

We recently stayed at Buck Meadows Lodge from Thursday, July 31st to Friday, August 1st. I have never said this to a hotel in a lifetime of hotel stays. We checked in around 9:00 p.m. after dinner. We were exhausted from a day of hiking and all we wanted was to shower and go to bed. My wife went first and saw that the bathtub had not been cleaned. It was actually dirty, grimy and had hair. She had to use a soapy washcloth to wipe the bathtub clean. As I said, I have never seen this in my lifetime, arriving at a hotel with a dirty bathtub. It is disgusting and unacceptable.

This was probably the worst booking I have ever made. Location is nice, close to Yosemite. However, it already has a late check in at 4:30 and they weren't ready until 5:00. When I mentioned the inconvenience due to having kids I was told 4:30 is “the earliest” they’re ready. When I asked if we could use the pool while we waited, I was told no, that would be a liability. Once we finally got into our hotel our TV didn’t work. They have direct TV, but ours wasn’t set up. It wasn’t glitching, the monitor was quite literally not linked. When I called the front desk I was told the tech guy leaves at 5:00, so there is nothing they could do. Yet, I didn’t even get in my room before that time. When I asked if I could switch rooms, or be reimbursed I was told there was nothing they can do. Again, I have kids. We are not an iPad family, so having no TV wasn’t great. Once we finally made it to the pool, the spa was down. This hotel is rundown and overpriced and the customer service is horrible.

We enjoyed our stay. It was incredibly convenient, the food was great(we ate several meals there), and the service was excellent!! The room was good, but simple. On the down side, the shower pressure could have been better and the dumpster was outside our door, so the garbage truck was, too, a few times-and loud. They do not provide daily maid services and we almost ran out of toilet paper one day, but overall, it was all good and affordable. A general store would have been so helpful for odds and ends! Overall, we really enjoyed it and would return in a heartbeat!!

Disappointed Despite the Friendly Staff

We booked this property based on its four-star rating and were initially hopeful. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff was friendly and welcoming.

Unfortunately, the stay took a turn once we got to our room (602), which is right next to the Lucky Buck Café. The walls were paper thin, and all day and night we heard constant squeaking from the room doors and heavy foot traffic. Daytime naps were impossible, and the banging from café cleanup lasted until after 11 p.m.

The room itself was clean, but the bed was incredibly uncomfortable—lumpy with completely worn-out pillows. My fiancée and I both woke up with sore backs and necks. It was the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on.

The lodge is conveniently located about 20 minutes from Yosemite, which is a plus. However, the noise issues, poor sleep quality, and terrible Wi-Fi (which made even trying to find another hotel impossible) ruined our experience.

We travel often and rarely write negative reviews, but this one left us frustrated, angry, and disappointed. I would not stay here again. If you’re visiting the area, I recommend looking into Rush Creek, Evergreen Lodge, or Blackberry Inn instead

After being in Yosemite, it was nice to have this lodging about an hour out from the Park.

We were unfortunately in the smaller, 1-story building, and did not enjoy our stay. The doors are thin and have a large gap at the bottom, so you can hear every conversation, door slam, etc. happening outside, which left me trying to fall asleep for an hour and a half. The rooms feel like old motel rooms that were refreshed to look modern, but there’s a dinginess around the edges. I can’t imagine anyone ever choosing to stay here as a destination unto itself - it survives because of its proximity to Yosemite.

I picked this hotel as it was close to a Yosemite NP entry gate. I was advised that check-in was strictly 4:30pm and not a minute earlier. Feeling tired after a long drive and with no options of things to do at the property at 3pm we had no option but to drive more!! I know time is required for room changeover but would be nice to see some accommodation of weary travellers!
Apart from that we had a good stay. We had a room near the cafe and it was quite spacious and well appointed. As it faced the road we were a little bothered by the external lighting coming in through our window.
We had an early dinner in the cafe which had good food options and staff were very good.
All good and a good location for visiting Yosemite.

Stayed there for 2 nights with family. Got to our room in 604 and noticed that the toilet is clogged. Called the front desk and was told by the lady that it usually takes time for the water to drain. I requested from her for a lodge staff to check it but was told that she’s by herself and no one is available. She had us get a toilet plunger instead. My husband who tried to remedy the situation, walked to the Yosemite Lodge front desk lobby to get the toilet plunger. Of course, the plunger didn’t work! Didn’t call the front desk again since it was already after hours.
Disaster happened the following morning when me and my family were getting ready for our trip to Yosemite Park. Toilet was still clogged and this time, dirty water was already coming out from the shower tub drain. Called the front desk, no one answered, so had to personally walk there disgusted and very upset. A different front desk lady was apologetic and moved us to another room.
It was such a horrible, terrible and stressful experience! We will never ever ever again stay in this property.

Buck Meadows is great for saving money during an extended trip to Yosemite- it's clean, quiet, and does the job. Having the Lucky Buck restaurant right next door was convenient- my family's favorites were the french toast, steak and soft pretzel. Staff were friendly and the place filled up later on and had a nice atmosphere. We went down the road to the Iron Door Saloon the next night- the ribs were fantastic/ highly recommend, and local beer on tap. The Buck Meadows room we stayed in was small but clean- the bathroom was nice and big. We had some trouble with the TV but the front desk walked us through resetting the cable box. Some things about the room that weren't great: there was a pretty good sized gap at the bottom of the door. Winter temps got into the 20s/30s at night. Some weather stripping would solve that easily. My husband used his jacket to stop cold air from entering the room (I don't like hearing the heater constantly turning on all night and our 5-year-old is a light sleeper). Our kids are big and we camp, so no real problem, but if I was staying here with a baby I may have felt differently about that gap. Also it took a very long time for hot water to reach our room, in the summertime no big deal, but in the winter it's a drag to have your hand in freezing water for that long. Overall I'd stay here again when traveling on a budget or just needing a place to crash after a full day of serious hiking without little kids.

Buck Meadows staff was amazing! The cleanliness of the property and the rooms were also amazing! My only issue that is preventing me from staying here again, was the BED. The bed in room 605 was so hard, we tossed and turned all night and was really sore in my back, shoulders and neck. Due to this we didn't get a goodnight of sleep our whole stay. If they have more comfortable beds I would definitely consider staying at Buck Meadows in the future.

Several things were so disappointing.

We have 3 SMALL dogs and bring a crate for them to stay and sleep in. We did not know about nor were we prepared to pay the ridiculously high fee for dogs. Secondly we expected to have a tv in room that worked. After several attempts to operate tv and multiple conversations with rude and very disinterested front office we gave up. Only sink was plugged up. One positive is the man who cleaned our room and bathroom did a fantastic job. Friendly, polite, helpful. We will not stay there again.

When we arrived to our room there was an RV taking up two parking spaces in front of our room so we had to park a ways from our room, they finaly mooved. The toilet was dirty with hair and urine behind the lid. We were woke up around midnight to something banging on the inside of the wall in the bathroom so we turnd on the AC because it was louder thand the nois coming from the bathroom. The person that check us in was very pleasant and welcoming and the restaurant serves and food was wonderful. We will stay here again if we come back this way.

The photos are misleading- the pool is attached to a hotel next door 5 minutes walk away through a car park. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly- there was left over food in the fridge. The fridge wasn’t cold enough and the dial had been removed so you can’t adjust it. However the motel is convenient for Yosemite. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful despite being very over-worked.

Our room was small and noisy- a few doors from the Restaurant and right off the highway. Despite paying the $25/day dog fee, I was rudely Interrogated by someone on staff asking if I was staying at the hotel and if I had paid for my dog.
Check-in/out was not friendly or helpful.
“Onsite” EV charging stations were not working so we needed to drive 15 minutes to find a charge.
For the price Buck Meadows Lodge is not worth it!
