Lovely peaceful beach. They have a station where you get your towels and sunscreen. Here you also rent chairs and umbrellas or buy floats.

I liked the location. The property and the beach were great. There was one particular front desk staff member who checked us in who was not clear on some important details regarding the resort fee and use of a 75 dollar credit that came with our room. The same agent also was unhelpful when it came to having our room cleaned. There were more amenities that we could have used at the resort but the same front desk staff member did not explain anything about that either. It really was the one staff member that brought the score down for the hotel. I know it's one person but the front desk is the face of a hotel and should be better.

The location is excellent and having direct beach access is definitely a major plus. Unfortunately, the property itself is in need of significant improvements. Our room had a strong humid, musty odor that was very unpleasant. We had to sleep with the windows open because whenever the room was closed up, opening the door would bring back the heavy smell immediately. The walls and carpeting also appeared worn and unclean.
While the location is wonderful, I don't think I would stay here again unless the property undergoes substantial renovations.
That said, the staff deserves special recognition. Every team member we encountered was friendly, professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. They provided outstanding service throughout our stay. I would gladly give the staff 5+ stars, even though the condition of the property fell far below expectations.

Stayed at Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows recently. The property is older but fairly well maintained and still looks decent overall. The rooms definitely need updating, and housekeeping seemed more surface-level since there was visible dust around the bed corners and shelves. Staff was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. Didn’t try the main restaurant food, but the coffee shop was decent.

Our family of 4 loved our time spent at the Royal Lahaina bungalows. We enjoyed the nightly LIVE music and the easy access to the pool and beach. Walking distance to the black rock was fast and a pleasant walk with our adventurous teens who enjoyed cliff jumping while I floated in the ocean. Highly recommend for families, the beach access directly from our hotel was unmatched. Calm waters, clear and feels like your own private beach.

The thin rectangle shower doesn’t have women who want to shave their legs in mind. The walls in the hallway have spackle mark all over it for the entire stay. Staff is great, good food, and the view is great. I wish they had a microwave in the room and the basic pools had a heater. The water was cold.

This was our first time staying at this property and it was absolutely gorgeous! Not only did it have a beautiful restaurant with yummy food and beautiful views, it had a café//coffee/ice cream shop and a cute little bar shack by one of the pools. I was also very happy that there was a mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker in each room. This made it convenient for our refrigerated snacks and I caught a cold while we were there so I was able to have tea every morning. If all of this wasn’t enough, the staff and their customer service were stellar! I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the best decision!! Amazingly clean property, with one of the best hotel ACs we’ve ever had. The staff at the hotel were all amazing from the valet service, to the room service, and the pool/beach service workers! Cannot recommend enough. The beach is stunning right in property, the pools are well taken care of and the location of the resort is right where you want to be, not to mention the free trolley that runs right to the hotel and to other spots around ka’anapali like Whaler’s Village.

Rooms were decent. Housekeeping was very friendly and nice! There’s a restaurant on the property, pool, gym, spa, and right next to the beach. There are other restaurants nearby. Whalers Village is about a 20 minutes walk and is good for shopping and dining. I gave 4/5 stars because I was never told about a $75 drink/dine credit during check-in. I am thankful for the person that checked me out mentioned it, so I was able to take advantage of it right at the last minute.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay here. It was my first time, but I am going to tell you. It was a wonderful time. The staff is great the valet parking the people the waitresses the waiters the front desk. Everyone was so nice to us. I can understand why they get five stars. We were very happy with our room. We got a deluxe king size ocean view, and we had a beautiful view of the ocean and the beach we went. We did take the breakfast package and I am so happy we did. Order from the menu or we could do the buffet and the staff was just wonderful to us. They make this place. Great if you’re thinking of staying here definitely stay here. It is just astonishing.

Be careful with upgrades and extra charges at check-in, especially if you are helped by Stacy. She was very nice and friendly, but some important pricing details were not explained clearly. She upgraded us to a suite for an additional charge, which was fine, but she also added valet parking and never clearly explained that it was $45 per day. The way everything was presented made it sound like a much smaller extra cost, so the final bill was a surprise.
I would highly recommend asking detailed questions about every extra charge, upgrade, and parking fee before agreeing to anything.
Aside from that experience, the resort itself is beautiful, clean, and in an amazing location. The views are incredible and we still enjoyed our stay overall.

This property is beautiful, has plenty of amenities as well as the best beach access. The only issue we had was that we booked an ocean view room, but most of the view was blocked by other buildings.

I booked an Ocean View room at Royal Lahaina Resort, but the room we received only had a partial side-view of the ocean from the right side of the building. In my opinion, this should not be advertised or sold as a true ocean view room. When someone books ocean view, they expect the ocean to be clearly visible from the room, not only from an angle.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing, especially because we informed the hotel in advance that we were celebrating our honeymoon. The hotel acknowledged our email and said they would do their best to make our stay memorable. However, when we arrived, there was absolutely nothing special in the room, and the view immediately killed the excitement for both me and my wife. It truly felt like the wrong decision to book this property for such an important occasion.
The room itself did not feel modern or luxurious. Amenities were very basic, and the coffee machine in the room was filthy, which was unacceptable for a resort that presents itself as a 4-star property. The service also did not meet expectations. Several staff members at the front desk and around the resort came across as rude and unwelcoming. A resort at this level should train staff properly on how to speak to guests with respect and hospitality.

If you love the smell of Raid, cockroaches, unhelpful front desk staff, messy common areas and half cleaned rooms - this is the place for you. Walked into a dirty room, upon a room transfer they put our luggage into someone else’s dirty room. Luau was ridiculously priced (over $600 CDN for 2 ppl), the food at the luau was an outdoor buffet that we didn’t eat because there was bugs in everything, and the birds would literally attack the plates. Cockroaches in cafes, and consistently cold breakfast. So many hidden fees, on checkout it was about $1000 USD added on.

Good stay and cute property! We stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed our stay. Upon arriving we were a little disappointed with the quality of our room (we were in a non renovated room) for a 4 star property. But the staff was understanding and gave us a credit for staying on site. Overall enjoyed our stay. Pool and beach were amazing! The Spa was also a big highlight - really enjoyed our massages!

This resort is a hidden gem. Far enough from the crowds of the \"big name brand\" resorts such as The Westin, Marriott and Hyatt and close enough to the shopping and restaurants at Whalers Village. The stretch of beach here is the best on Maui. The rooms are great and very clean. The views from the rooms are amazing. The staff and service here is outstanding.

I visited Royal Lahaina with my partner and we had a partial ocean view room on the 12th floor in the tower. The view was of the golf course, mountains and ocean. It was an amazing view for the price and I consider this hotel a great value. It’s a small resort with vintage Hawaiian vibes—simple and beautiful. The grounds are really gorgeous and lush, with a beautiful canyon tree which hosts performances at night. The sand bottom beach is heaven and it’s the best swimming beach I’ve ever experienced. We travel quite a bit and were in love with the entire property.
The property is walking distance to Whaler’s Village and other properties and restaurants. We went snorkeling at Black Rock (Sheraton has snorkels for rent there, super easy) and had shave ice after—then a short walk back to Royal Lahaina.
I would like to come back with my kiddos and try a bungalow—they are a bit more private but lack the views we had in the tower.

The property is walking distance to Whaler’s Village and other properties and restaurants. We went snorkeling at Black Rock (Sheraton has snorkels for rent there, super easy) and had shave ice after—then a short walk back to Royal Lahaina.
I would like to come back with my kiddos and try a bungalow—they are a bit more private but lack the views we had in the tower.

They have text system where you can message the Front desk, its not convenient they respond the following day if you have any questions. And during the day we’re checking in, we were arriving later time I tried calling them, the front desk doesn’t answer their. Also note they clean every other day. But overall we still had a good vacation.

Our room on the 12th floor offered phenomenal ocean views, and as Maui residents, we were thrilled that the property is so pet-friendly. The reception team was fast, kind, and efficient. The only Positive of the hotel is the Bell Desk staff are amazing. The rest of the staff are okay....cleaning my room at 7PM-8PM at night is not acceptable...nighttime cleaning is a deal breaker. Had to request my room be serviced and then it was not done that well...coffee cups not washed, sheets not changed, and the shower had mold in it. The rooms are in dire need up refurbishing. The hotel performed pest control in the middle of my stay instead of waiting till after check-out and requested all food be moved to the refrigerator for safety...seriously? The resort fee is $45 a night and parking is $40 a night --- outdoor parking where you compete with Luha guests that come to the property - finding parking can be challenging...but you're still paying $40 a day to park. Oh, and the pool is not heated! And no, Hawaiian sun does not heat it...and there is no jacuzzi. Not sure exactly what \"resort fee\" was paying for. Your room is serviced every other day, but as I mentioned I had to ask for each time and it was always done late at night and not that well... the room smelled from the dampness and the mold in the shower.

We have a new favorite place to our return visits to Maui. The Royal Lahaina is welcoming, not overwhelming. A sense of old Hawaii envelopes you in a way that cannot be found at a corporate resort like Hyatt or Westin.
We stayed in an ocean front bungalow and could not have been happier. Quiet, private and the patio opened to the grass area and the beach just steps beyond. Our sunset view each evening was picture perfect.
The resort has two pools and a bar and is lovely. It never felt crowded or loud.

Overall, the staff and hotel amenities were amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. However, the cleanliness of the resort had much to be desired. In our first room, there was a mineral and biofilm build up in the sink faucet, big lumps of dust covering the vents and bathroom door, a broken latch on said door, and a broken seal on the sliding door to the balcony that made it foggy. We asked to switch rooms after noticing these details on our first day. Our second room had a smaller but still noticeable mineral build up in the faucet, something plant-like poking out of the ceiling, dripping wood stain from a beam, trash under the tv stand (from previous inhabitants), and a random termite swarm the night of our fifth day. Every time housekeeping came to clean and restock our room, no one addressed the faucet buildup, wood stain, mystery ceiling intruder, or trash under the tv stand (which we found ourselves on our last day). Aside from our rooms, the pool chairs, umbrellas, and parts of the restaurant outside were covered in bird waste and were not cleaned. The staff were very helpful throughout our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed the amenities, but the cleanliness of the resort overall really took away from the experience.
