Internet was weak, room was sooo small ( no room for a suitcase ), could not fully open bathroom door ( bumped towel rack ). Downstairs lobby area was filthy and elevator was really small and slow. The breakfast was ok. Most staff were good but one guy was unhelpful. Rather solemn and blunt. In general the area is very noisy and room had no heat or AC. Would never stay here again.

Viaje Hotel should not be listed on Expedia. The property shown in the photos does not resemble the reality at all. What appears online looks like a concept in someone’s head because what exists in reality is an unsafe, poorly maintained building that is closer to an abandoned structure than a functioning hotel.

The elevator is unreliable, and the stairwell (five flights) is unsanitary with the smell of urine, visible feces, and severely damaged flooring. The room was a tiny box with unfinished walls, poor ventilation that made it difficult to breathe, no balcony as advertised, and windows that provided no sound insulation from constant outside noise.

The breakfast area was equally unacceptable, with flies everywhere and food conditions that did not appear sanitary enough to eat.

In more than 20+ years of travel, this is one of the worst accommodations I have ever encountered. Properties with conditions like this should not be listed on a platform travelers trust. Expedia must implement stronger vetting and on-site verification before promoting accommodations that put guests’ health, safety, and trust at risk.

When booking for more people, you need to add them in the reservation. Otherwise you will be charged for $15 per people. At night the street is very noisy and you can hear the noise from the room till midnight

Please be warned before booking this hotel: the hotel is UNDER CONSTRUCTION and UNFINISHED. We traveled with our two young children and a lot of luggage, but the elevator was not even fully finished or operating during part of our stay. The rooms are unfinished. As one reviewer noted, this is a skeleton of a hotel (all fifth floor with major, unsafe construction happening on the preceding floors through which we were forced to climb with our young kids several times), and the owners ARE NOT UPFRONT about this very important detail at the booking stage. Deceptive. Moreover, even what is finished is lacking tremendously. For a new hotel, one would expect basic fixtures and elements in the rooms. The showers leak, there is very limited space for basic toiletry items, etc throughout the room, and the entire hotel has a strange, un-hospitable feel. Not sure how the facility was even permitted to open for business at this stage. I complained, of course, and received nothing as compensation for the troubles and deception. Most of the staff (young men) are friendly and helpful enough, with the exception of one employee who works the evening shift and is quite rude and inattentive, even when told that basic needs were not being met.

First time in long time that I have to rate a hotel so low. The pictures are not real, the noise in the room from the traffic is unberable. The area around is noisy, dirty and doesn’t look safe at all. I don't know why it has such a good rating on the app, maybe is because of the low price which in the beginning made me suspicious. I have to say that the bathroom was clean and renewed, that's probably the only good thing about this place

The room looked newly renovated but the shower leaked all over the place. The toilet seat wouldn’t open fully due to the paper dispenser obstructing its path. The staff were nice, courtesy, and accommodating. It was very clean. Breakfast was doable. Overall it wasn’t bad but not what I’m used to in America.

The entrance worried me a lot when I arrived; it was dark. I asked, \"Where is my hotel?\" because the first impression is like an abandoned garage, and the elevator has a dirty carpet. As for the staff, they were attentive and tried hard to help. The rooms need some storage; the closet is very small.

Management has given a false impression of what the hotel is. In fact, it is an old building in downtown Cairo which is being renovated. The pictures of the spa are not useful as there was no staff and it was suggested to me that I could go to one of the 5 star hotels which have a spa!! There is no picture of a buffet breakfast, because there isn't. What you get is a basic two bread, cheese, yogurt, fried egg, and a few pieces of melon - no vegetables. When I asked for a refund because of the false advertising, the management refused and stopped answering Expedia's phone calls. It would have been better to go to the 20 USD hotel across the street!

Staff at time of my check in was very friendly and co-operative. Room is nice and clean, we have electric kettle in room but no tea, milk or coffee so please get your own tea bags or coffee sachet with you otherwise there is plenty available around there.

Location is brilliant and very close to many city attractions, plenty of shopping around and metro station in nearby.

Lot of local street food is there in that area.

Breakfast is very basic but served the purpose.

Overall, good experience, clean, nice room and it is definitely worth staying there in medium budget.

Entrance on ground floor of a large block with tiny poor lift to hotel on 5th floor.
Room and upstairs reception spotlessly clean, staff very pleasant, breakfasts simple but adequate.
Room very simple with little usable storage, no hanging space, no chairs. Beds very firm. Shower superb but water flows over all floor.
Room was adjacent to main road so very noisy.earplugs required. Location quite convenient to access old Cairo and old museum. Few decent places to eat close by..mainly fast food.

For he price, this room is not worth it. It was clean and had two twin beds. However, there was little space to move around the beds and the room was COLD with no way to turn up the heat. There was only a fitted sheet and a very thin quilt on the bed. I actually wore my winter vest to bed. Do yourself a favor and choose a different place.

A little better but not a good hotel and lack the basic characteristics and necessities for guests. The building is frightening. The stairs of filthy, full of debris, unlit, graffiti, broken down doors . . . Yes, there's a small elevator to the 5th floor where the rooms are located but beware. The rooms were excessively loud. The breakfast was unsatisfactory and coffee was near impossible to get. I get this isn't the staff's fault. Having said that, I left two nights early because of the building and other issues. I was told I would get a refund but they never followed through, unfortunately. Orbitz indicated that they wouldn't answer their phone when they tried to work with them to follow-up on my refund. The conclusion? Orbitz said that \"because they wouldn't answer their phone\" they could not issue a refund. That seems illogical - wouldn't it be the other way around? If the establishment wouldn't answer their phone, shouldn't that be a red flag. Book elsewhere and be safe.

Mostly the staff communications. I stayed there 5 days and 4 nites out of which the water to the room was messed up for the first 3 days both in terms of temperature as well as the flow. As a result me and my wife could not shower for the first 3 days. Could not get the story straight from the staff whether the problem was with their facilities or was it an outside problem with the municipality. I will say that once the water got turned back on the shower was excellent. Also the room was very small. Other than that the Hotel was was good in terms of location and cleanliness

Hotel was still under construction. We booked for Luxury suite, it was still under construction so they gave option to pick 2 rooms. They showed 3 sets of rooms. Out of 3 sets, we picked 2 rooms that looked better than other ones.
Lift did not have a door. We had to manually push open the lift door. there was no message from the Hotel on which floor the hotel is and also and how to use the lift. We tried to use it few times and could not figure out, then another guest showed us how to use it. Hotel is on 5th floor.
Rooms have no lockers ,no closets or hangers. There was no heater or AC in the rooms. In one of the rooms, there is no shelf in the bathroom to put soap, shampoo etc.
room had some holes and unfinished walls.
Breakfast area super small tables. Only 3,4 tables there in whole area. so, we had to wait till the tables get free.
One day lift stopped working, I called the hotel they said use the stairs. It was evening time. We took 5 flights of stairs which are filthy and not lit up. I was quite scary.
I complained to the manager, they said they cannot do anything about hotel condition but will try to get the lift fixed.

Construction still going on, our room had holes still cut out as if it wasn’t finished. While trying to sleep you can hear the constructing going on, very loud!! The hall ways echo when a door is closed.. I wouldn’t stay again.. also the last part, right before you check out they go into your room and inspect it. They came out with out towels and asked us to explain a makeup stain on one of them.. but luckily it washes off if not we would’ve been charged.. I wouldn’t stay there again

Location: Center of City, near to main market, Nile river is walking distance away. Variety of food options available very near to the hotel, Money exchange services, Banks are very closed to the hotel, New and clean property

Price: Budget friendly hotel

Room: Rooms is neat and clean, Bed comfortable, Bathroom size good, Shower good, Hot water avaialble 24hrs, Room size ok, Balcony ok, Kitley,small freeze,TV Telephone, USB charging ports, Reading lamp available.
External laundry facility availble to wash the cloths.

Receiption area is good, Staff is friendly and cooperative.

Negatives:
Location: Too much vehicle noise from morning 7AM till 11:30PM due to very close to the main market road which busy all the time.
Hotel is located inside the apartment on 5th floor so don't expect the entrace like any other hotels. It does't feel that you are statying in hotel. Feel like you are staying apartment hotel.

Breakfast: Fixed breakfast like you get in flights, only serves omlet, one cut fruit, Two breads with jam, butter cheese, packed curd, Coffee or tea. No more breakfast options available. Brakfast area is inside the lobby. No proper restaurant area available to serve the breakfast, no kitchen available like any other hotels.

Room: No tea, no coffee, no water bottle inside the room, No room service, No restaurant inside the hotel, Wardrobe not available for cloth storage, Cloth hangers not available, table not available. Room only clean if you inform to clean

We booked for 2 nights in this hotel. There was no sign that we saw outside or at the entrance indicating where the entrance was. We had to asked the people. The hotel itself is ok, but the problem was the reception is on the 5th floor. And it happened to be that the elevator was not working when we arrived during our first day. So we had to drag all our luggage by ourselves to the 5th floor to a VERY dirty and UNSAFE spiral staircase, there were broken steps (tiles). So if you forget something and you already outside (Like we did), you’re going to have a workout. And be very careful going down or you’ll find yourself tumbling down the stairs. The elevator was fixed the next day. It will only hold 3 people and STAY AWAY by the entrance because there was NO DOOR. We decided to transfer to another hotel (without any refund) the next day even though they already fixed the elevator. The hotel staff and the facility is ok but I can’t recommend this hotel because of what we experienced.

There was not a stay at Viaje. Upon arrival, I walked up 5 absolutely disgusting sets of stairs because the elevator wasn’t working. I was greeted by a man wearing a “Valencia Hotel” shirt and repeatedly told me he wasn’t the receptionist. He called someone else and made me speak to them on the phone so they could look up my reservation. In looking around, I noticed that the space for the hotel was not finished AT ALL! There is no spa, no place for breakfast, etc. I still asked to see the room (despite feeling scammed) so he showed me a room that was not even close to the suite I booked, nor was construction finished in the actual room. Maybe in a few months, it’ll be as wonderful as they’ve advertised but as of this week, the hotel doesn’t even really exist besides a sign downstairs.

This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had in my life. This isn't a hotel, and everything you see in the pictures has no relation to the actual place. The filth is shocking. I saw cockroaches and rats in the reception area, and when I went up to the room, I held my nose because of the foul odor and the filth that filled the place.
Therefore, even though I paid in advance for a 12-night stay based on the misleading photos I saw on the website, I decided to leave immediately and look for another hotel to sleep in.
Anyone who wants to get sick and carry germs should go to this hotel, so I absolutely do not recommend it.
