The resort itself, and the ambience of the resort is beautiful however, they only have three dining options for restaurants and the buffet never changes it the same every day very low quality for buffet food and not the best quality of food in general. I would recommend to stay here but to go outside of the resort to eat if you want real good tasting food overall for the money it’s OK. I don’t recommend if you’re gonna be staying there long to stay there but if it’s a short trip, it should be fine. I’ve definitely stayed that nicer resorts with lots more food options.

The beach and pools were nice. The view from our room was nice. I enjoyed my massage. The food in the Italian Restaurant and Hibachi was good. The food in buffet was cold, wasn’t replenished enough, and seemed like the same things and not enough variety. The hostesses were friendly in the buffet. The staff when you first arrived and at front desk were only friendly at first because they are trying to sell you something. After that they didn’t really speak and not really friendly at all. The activities were fun and Joshua did a great job. I did have a butler Jessica assigned to me who set up reservations which was helpful. We stopped at concierge for more towels and coffee that they send would send up but never did. The phone didn’t work for room service after they answered my call then no answer. The rooms were very outdated. The floor in our room looked dirty. The bathroom shower area was very small and hard to maneuver around with the toilet so close. They really need to upgrade resort.

Over the years i have stayed at all different resorts. All have been great. My major complaint here was the food. Breakfast was fine. The lunch options not so much. If you went to the sit down restaurant your food was cold the same with the buffet and most dishes not edible. Dinner buffet was not good. The hobachi and the Italian restaurant were good but not great.
The lounge chair in our room was well worn and dirty. The room and other chairs always felt damp probably due to the condensation drippings from the air conditioning vent in the ceiling.
They tell you, you don't need reservations for the restaurants, but anyone with a reservation gets taken in first.
You need to get up early and put your towels on the beach chairs that you'd like. I don't think there's enough chairs to accommodate the amount of people that stay there.
Think of mentioning, they were closing for renovations. I wish we had known that when we booked our holiday.

Beautiful property with great access to the beach, tasteful sun beds and amazing views. The restaurants are delicious and you always get a sitting, either early or later. However it is not really suitable for families, since the pools aren’t heated and half the property is adults only, which severely limits options for parents - that was our greatest disappointment.

Our stay at the Grand Park Royal Cancun was fantastic. The resort is stunning and offers plenty of amenities. Our room was spotless, the food was excellent, and the beach and pool areas were absolutely beautiful. Both pools were enjoyable, but the adults‑only pool was especially nice for a quieter, more relaxing atmosphere. The service throughout our stay was exceptional, and both check‑in and check‑out were quick and seamless.

Beautiful resort, very clean, beautiful views. Room great! Loved the entertainment & pools. Can't give very good/excellent rating bc food ranged from meh to bad: flavors, selection & prep. Meat overcooked, food barely warm, very few alt options if you have food allergies/intolerances. Restaurants randomly closed but no notices telling you when. Had to have a reservation for the Hibachi restaurant which were never able to get only 1 table sat at a time. Which brings me to the fact they seemed understaffed in all restaurants and by the pools. Buffet was meh & same foods every lunch & dinner.

Spa-asked for list of services ahead of time. When we got there found out not all were actually available (pedicures). Massage was great but no extra amenities with it like we have had at other resorts.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful, but not always available due to being understaffed.

Also, they invite you to a \"welcome breakfast \" to discuss their vacation club. Fyi the breakfast is just at the buffet having to listen to the hard sell while you ate. We didnt do it but saw others doing it.

Lots of people on beach selling stuff which is not unusual, but they are allowed to come up to the resort which is annoying.

Went to Isla Mujeres for the day taking advice to take the bus ($1) to ferry. Lots of people calling you to their shops which sell all the same stuff, but public beach great, good restaurants & highly recommend renting golf cart to drive around island!

The Grand Park Royal Cancun exceeded our expectations -- the food was fantastic (tip: have breakfast in one of the restaurants, as it's all made to order), though you do need to make reservations for the ala carte restaurants ahead of time, especially if you want to eat on the earlier side. The rooms were lovely, the staff tremendous, and the all-inclusive plan meant that once they put your wristlet on you, nothing else was needed for the remainder of your stay. We will absolutely stay here again.

The only complaint we had is the sales pitch given to us by Grand Park Royal as soon as we checked in, we were tired and thirsty after travel, and had no idea it was coming.

We traveled as a family of three with a three-year-old. A few things we did not like: the restaurants were not as expected. If you are a 'foodie,' this resort is not for you, though you will definitely not be starving. The buffet had plenty of options, but they were limited. We do not recommend Flor de Sal at all; we waited 45 minutes for our three-year-old's order. She was hungry, so we eventually left, and the buffet saved the evening.
The drinks were so-so. They can mix a very basic rum and coke, but I was unable to find a single bar that could make a nice Negroni or Old Fashioned. They also tried to sell timeshares (which they do not like to call a 'timeshare,' but it is). We politely declined.
What we did like was the buffet; it saved us many times after less-than-enjoyable restaurant experiences. A special shoutout to Erika—she was amazing, always smiling and genuinely friendly! It is also worth mentioning the exceptional cleanliness and very friendly staff. Claudia at the front desk was also polite and professional.
Would I recommend this resort? Yes, go check it out for yourself if you are not a major culinary enthusiast.

The service staff were amazing. However, we checked in at 8pm and was hit with their time share team. After say we were not interested for about 20 minutes we were able to get to our room. The next morning we noticed they were doing exterior maintenance above our room. I had pay a little extra for the swim up pool outside our room as it was our 10th year anniversary to have them sanding and scrapping paint during the day that made it most unenjoyable.
But, the room it self was great and again the wait staff and food was incredible. First class service and might back again, but would ask more questions regarding the maintenance going on during our stay.

The rooms were outdated, we booked a swim up pool and felt it was not really private. People were throwing cigarettes butts in the swim up pool. Food wasn’t very good at the buffet, once a popular item ran out it was not replenished. During breakfast they do not offer bacon unless you ask for it, and at times they will say they cannot give you any due to no more bacon allowed for server section. 2 restaurants are available only at dinner, while the Mexican and seafood, and buffet are both open during select hours 7am-11 am (breakfast) 12:30 pm- 3:30 pm (lunch) 6:30pm-11pm (dinner) there is a snack shack open 11am - 6pm that serves burgers, nachos, fries, hotdogs, pizza. This all tastes like cardboard and your only option unless you order the 5 items on room service. Ordered room service and food was cold, the sandwich didn’t have any meat on it. Note: for the Japanese restaurant, Italian restaurant, and the steak house you will need to make reservations between 8am-11 am local hotel time or you are SOL. UNLESS a hostess are willing to squeeze you in. This hotel uses reusable plastic cups to serve alcohol beverages in and will pull them out of the trash to wash and reuse again. I advise to bring or buy your own cup to drink your alcohol or soda from as it’s not very sanitary. The first thing you are going to be asked if for your passport and reason for your stay, you will then check in and be harassed into going on a tour for a time share,

I give Grand Park Royal Cancun 3 stars overall. The property itself is nice, the service staff was excellent, and the location is great, but our experience had some major drawbacks.

Check-in and check-out were both incredibly frustrating, taking over 30 minutes each time, which really put a damper on arrival and departure days.

For an all-inclusive resort, the food was less than subpar. The variety and quality didn’t meet expectations, all the meals felt underwhelming.

On top of that, the initial and repeated approach by the timeshare sales representatives was overwhelming and intrusive making it difficult to relax which significantly impacted the overall quality of our stay.

4 Stars - Stunning, Nature-Filled Grounds and Wonderful Staff, But the Room and Food Fell Short

I’m giving 4 out of 5 stars, and it’s just barely. I almost went with 3 because of a few issues that affected day-to-day comfort, but the strengths here are real.

The Grounds (the standout)

Let me correct something clearly: the outdoor grounds are impeccable. Honestly, they’re the most beautiful I’ve seen in the Hotel Zone, and they convey real nature in a way most properties simply do not. The landscaping feels intentional, lush, and thoughtfully maintained. Walking the property is genuinely enjoyable, and if you’re someone who loves being surrounded by greenery and a “tropical” vibe that feels authentic, this place nails it.

Service (another major strength)

The staff are the other reason this review stays at 4 stars. Across roles, the people working here were polite, considerate, and dedicated. Even when something missed the mark, the tone was still respectful and kind.

I visited, reserveing an oceanfront view room, to surprise a friend for her birthday, and overall we had a wonderful stay. There were a few issues, though. My friends were initially placed in a different building from their kids, and they ended up having to pay extra to move to a smaller room just to be near them. On top of that, they had an issue with roaches in her room, which was disappointing and definitely not what you expect at a resort.

Since it was our first time there, they also tried to sell us a membership. The whole pitch felt a bit like the timeshare presentations I remember sitting through as a kid, so I let them know right away that I wasn’t interested—I didn’t want to waste their time or take away from my group’s trip.

Aside from those moments, the rest of our stay was beautiful.

The beach is the best maintained on the strip and was also quieter than other larger resorts. The villa including the Bali bed is a great value if you want to lounge at beach a lot. Food is of very poor quality, staff is friendly and attentive, property is poorly managed, all outdoor access areas( walkways) are uneven making it unsafe to walk( personally seen 2 people falling down over my stay) impossible to get beach chairs, all pompous guest service for a “steak house” reservation at an empty restaurant with a diner quality food. Guests screaming and blasting music, slamming doors at 2 am, took an hour to get someone to calm them down. All in all disappointing!

Overall nice place good food and excellent location. The host that worked the breakfast at the Italian restaurant above the gym was underwhelming. The waiters were all nice but he was not. I told Edwin how rude he was and he apologized to me on his behalf. He is a great worker. The host felt he needed to let me know my gym top and sarong weren’t appropriate for breakfast yet other women were parading around d I. Their one piece he claimed were ‘gym’ clothes. When he noticed I didn’t take his counsel well he changed his response and said ‘I’m just warning you, for when you go to the buffet. The staff there won’t let that outfit fly’ I said ‘sure.’ I wore the same clothes to the buffet and NEVER had that kind of a response. I felt singled out by him and almost harassed. Not cool. Not coming back. Promote Edwin. Not the host. Everyone else was cool. Timeshare presentations are intense. Prefer not to have them pushed on me at check in.

Would have gotten 5 stars, but the only thing I didn’t like was they wanted you to go to a “special breakfast” onsite where they talk about vacation rentals to get a $100 gift card to use on their one paid restaurant or spa, she was a little pushy but we just said no. We talked to others who went and they said it wasn’t bad and worth it for the $100 spa gift card.

The rooms were clean, even though property is old they have changed a few things and still renovating some amenities. Contrary to some reviews the AC worked fine and the showers were great. Only problem was going in January they do not regulate pool water temperature and it's usually cold and they have minimal level events and entertainment through the day not as big as some other resorts.

We had an overall pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our visit, always greeting us with a smile and willing to assist whenever needed.

The food was decent and enjoyable certainly satisfying and well-prepared. It met our expectations and offered a good variety.

However, one downside of our stay was that the TV in our room did not work, which was a bit disappointing when we wanted to relax in the evenings. We did inform staff, but unfortunately it wasn’t resolved during our stay. The bathroom is a bit small as well.

Despite this issue, the welcoming service and comfortable atmosphere made our experience a positive one overall.

The resort is amazing. The grounds are perfectly maintained. The beach area is better than any we have seen in the hotel zone, with spacious and ample comfortable seating. Stay was a positive experience. Check in was sketchy. Were told different things about access to amenities from different people. We arrived early at 12p (confirmed ahead) and waited until 4p for room. Good enough. Had access to everything while we waited. Our room (villa) was spotless. The beach is why you come to Cancun and this resort’s beach is awesome. Service was hit or miss as was the food. We had a butler who helped with reservations for a beach bed daily (great perk) and anything else we may want. You can use them as much or as little as you like. The grounds are spread out and well maintained which we liked but could be a challenge for people with mobility issues. Would we return? Maybe.

I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful resort November 19, 2025. After extensive research, this resort truly stood out. I can confidently say I’m so glad we booked it — five days was simply not enough!
The resort itself is stunning, with excellent restaurants, a gorgeous beach and pool area, and beautifully appointed rooms.

Rooms:
Grand Villa Master Suite Ocean Front (stayed with my fiancé):  The suite was incredibly spacious, featuring a large, comfortable couch & bed, and a beautiful bathroom. Our private terrace, complete with a plunge pool right on the beach and overlooking the ocean, was absolutely breathtaking. 
Royal Suite Double Hot Tub Beachfront (parents’ stay – adults only): This room was also very spacious with a lovely layout, a large jacuzzi, and an absolutely stunning ocean view.

The beach was gorgeous with soft sand & the ocean warm enough to play in the waves! With VIP status, that included complimentary use of the beach cabanas (normally around $200 USD per day). Reservations can be made through your butler. A special shout-out goes to our butler, Jesica, who was incredibly attentive & kind!
I spent most of my time in the large main pool with beautiful views of the beach & a swim up bar.

Food was really good. Favorite a la carte - Italian & the Teppanyaki grill

Final Thoughts
This was hands down my favorite all-inclusive resort I’ve ever visited. While we usually enjoy trying new resorts, this is one I will absolutely return to.

Room was clean considering the age of the resort.
Shower was not draining properly and was unable to be repaired.
We stood on beach towels with bath mat on top in order to keep our feet out of dirty water.
At one point the turn down maid came in to take our dirty coffee, cups and wine glasses. Since we had a swimout room we happened to be there to watch her rinse our old glasses in the bathroom sink and towel dry and then put them back for next day.
We weren't supposed to drink the water from the tap, why would it be okay to drink from unsanitised glasses??

Also, very vacation club heavy (time share experience)

This resort is short of service, quality and luxury, time for a name change or a reno.

Improve communication with guests and resolve issues sooner.

Secondly floor room with ocean very was very nice. Room was clean and comfortable. The wind whistling through the sliding door frame was annoying at night.
Cleaning staff were very polite and courteous.
Restaurants, buffets and snack bars had plenty of selection. Food was fresh and enjoyable.
Serving staff were very attentive and engaging.
Evening entertainment was very good.
The beach and ocean facing view was great but a few more beach chairs and cabanas would have been nice.
Overall, very please for a first time experience.

We’ve been going to Grand Park Royal for 10 years. We enjoyed bringing our children and now we enjoy going as a couple. Staff is amazing and very friendly. Not a spring break party resort if that’s what you’re looking for. Only complaint would be that I wish the hot tub wasn’t always filled with young kids.

We loved our experience at this hotel. We stayed for 9 nights and the staff was amazing. Edgar at the cafe always greeted us with a smile and was super nice. We also had a butler named Alejandro and he was so helpful and great. The food selection was great at all the restaurants and Diana at the buffet area provided us great service. We will definitely be returning for an even longer stay.

1. The food was very poor
2. People chased you all over the resort trying to convince you to sign up for a membership.
3. The adult pool was so cold, it was not heated

This hotel is everything you’ll think it’ll be and more. The beach was steps away from our room, the pools were very nice and the adult pool was there if you wanted a more quieter relaxed experience away from the other kids. The food was mid but that’s what you usually expect from an all inclusive serving around 5000+ people at a time although that Italian restaurant was really good. Unfortunately the hot water did end up going in and out in our room but ended up fixing itself, the toilet got clogged and we called someone they came immediately to fix. I can say this hotel cares and takes care of their customers! I would love to come back and visit!

As a family of 4, with 2 teenagers, we had a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. Everyone at the hotel makes us feel very welcome and comfortable. A big THANK to our butler, Jorge. He was amazing and helped us with every need we had (restaurant and beach reservations, transportation, etc.). We recommend this hotel 100%. The size of this hotel was perfect for us (it was not huge, but it was not small either). The food was very good and fresh (perhaps not many options in the buffet restaurant, compared with some other hotels, but again, it was good). The a la carte restaurants, we enjoyed them all (but you need to be a little patient in some of them because the service might be a little slow).

We came to the resort and paid premium during holiday week to celebrate New Year and got absolutely no celebration. There was no communication about the event or need to make reservations. The hotel had our phone numbers and emails, but nothing about New Year was communicated. Upon checking into the hotel two days prior, we were told that the details of New Year party are still being worked out. There were no signs in the lobby, by the pool/beach, or other common areas. The event was held in a small ballroom, despite ample space on the beach and other spaces in the resort. We only found it after asking the concierge. The ballroom filled up quickly, and a huge number of guests were turned away due to lack of space. When the overflow guests went to the hotel bar to try and have their own celebration, staff refused to turn on music, and sent us back to the ballroom that was already full. Frustrated and left with no good choices, we decided to walk the beach, only to see numerous New Year celebrations at the neighboring resorts. When we complained about our experience to guest services the next day, all we got was a lukewarm apology.
Also, this was by far the worst food selection and food quality in our 10+ years of attending various all inclusive resorts. We were so frustrated with the food, that we left the resort for dinner two of the evenings, and paid exorbitant prices at restaurants in the area.
Lastly, we barely got any sleep all week due to a crying baby next door.

We didn’t get the room we paid for. Restaurants were closed and reservations were needed on the first night at the restaurants but we weren’t told that. The food wasn’t very good at the buffet, which is the only place we had to eat during those times. We had no information about the resort in general. We weren’t even given information on the WiFi. It was specified airport transportation was included and then we had to pay for it. Only 3 restaurants and the buffet were included in the all inclusive and then they had restaurants closed for private events during the stay so our choices of places to eat were very limited.

There was a lack of communication that let us without not knowing what to do and how to guide ourselves throughout the hotel. The food was ok in most places, but service was very slow and inconsistent throughout the hotel. We had a very bad experience with hotel service where it took over 3 hours and my wife was intimidated and coerced by the night manager. The hotel has apologized for the situation but still that left us very disappointed in general.

The staff was so welcoming. Cielo greeted us upon our arrival and explained everything to us. The waitstaff that I really enjoyed talking to was Rigoberto and Erika. They always seemed happy and loved to chat when they had time. The hostess, Diana,tried to teach me a phrase in Spanish each day. I enjoyed learning. The variety at the buffet was simply amazing! The resort was lovely. I’d stay there again.

Very very pushy to buy into the Royal perks club wanting a meeting to sell you into upon arrival. Room had multiple issues. Broken toilet and then poor flushing, no hot water one day. Shower did not drain. Outdated but we were only there to sleep.
Food the breakfast was the edible. Lunch was usually skipped Dinner could have been ok if served hot but everything served the whole trip was luke warm.
Butler service was 12 stars the only saving grace for this resort to get a 6/10
Overall not a grand experience. Would try anywhere else before staying here again.
