2. The Verandah staff seemed racially biased towards foreigners than Indian guests, which didn’t look good. I was ignored, no napkins at the tables, no one checked in if I wanted to get any omelette or dosa, both at dinner and breakfast buffet.
3. Raintree staff and poolside staff were great.

I stayed at Leela palace just before here and I can see why it’s better to stay there than here.

Lovely Hotel, early checkin issues

A great place to stay in Chennai, couple of good points and one downer. Overall it felt slightly a business hotel but with alot of colonial heritage. It had a nice (though hot pool) to relax at, more importantly it had an amazing restaurant called Rivertree tucked away that has delicious tasting menus and not too pricey. Go there. The downer wa a the check in. Knowing we’d land at 05:30 we advised them of this and booked an early checkin (by 10:00), we arrived at 06:30 and did checkin formalities and they kindly let us take breakfast and hang around. Sadly at 10 no room was ready and they tried to deny confirmation of early checkin. After frantic activity a room was found (slightly better than booked) by 11:00. When you tired from a flight you don’t need this, and if we’d been advised it wasn’t going to happen we wouldn’t have hung around and would have gone out to the beach and waited. On top of this they still charged us full whack for the early check. A bit of a sour note on what could have been a lovely stay with v friendly staff.

First time staying in Taj properties were not a disappointment. Service was impeccable, the restaurant verandha was amazing for breakfast. We did spend some time at the bar in the ground floor, the lady who was singing that evening just killed it!!! Good bar food and decent cocktails.

Really enjoyed our stay at Taj Connemara! The staff were all super friendly and soooo accommodating. It seemed like nothing was too much of an ask. The property had a grand British colonial feel about it. I’d say it’s historic but not dated. Really nice pool.

Gym could be bigger but it was adequate (and better than most hotels). I lift regularly and was able to get a decent workout in.

Good choice of eateries inside the hotel walls. Breakfast buffet was great - special call out to Shaji who always kept the coffee coming & made our stay special!

Highly recommended - I’d happily stay again

#Pleasant Stay at Taj Connemara - A Solid Choice

I recently stayed at Taj Connemara and had a very good experience overall. The hotel met my expectations in several areas and provided a comfortable base for my trip.

## Highlights:

1. **Staff**: The staff were friendly and professional. They were helpful when I had questions or requests. Attentive towards our 9 month old baby. Special mention to Hari & Nithu at morning breakfast 'Verandah'.

2. **Room**: My room was clean and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, which allowed for restful nights. Chong at housing keeping did a marvelous job.

3. **Amenities**: The hotel offers useful amenities. I particularly appreciated the spa and the pool.

4. **Location**: The hotel's location was convenient, making it easy to access various parts of the city.

Overall, I had a positive experience at Taj Connemara. It provided good value for the price and met most of my needs. I would consider staying here again on future visits to the area.

My favourite stay when I’m in Madras. The iconic old world charm is only accentuated by friendly staff who remember you even after a whole year. Food and dining was truly commendable with a fantastic buffet spread which is serviced by a very courteous and professional team. Special thanks for all the hot South Indian delicacies from the live station. It is a heritage hotel with separate wings based on Indian, Colonial and Oriental themes which is very well curated. Nice hotel but lacking attention to detail for the prices they charge. When we checked in the first room offered to us smelt damp so we asked to change, the second room was located next to a service entrance with dirty washing visible and the view from the balcony of the room was directly into the air con unit. The room we were eventually offered was very nice but the issues experienced were disappointing. Afternoon tea was also included in our package, despite being asked to book a time at check-in the person in the bar serving the afternoon tea seemed surprised to see us. We had to wait half an hour during which we sat in the bar which lights flickering, which the way we’re trying to fix. We did eventually enjoy our two night stay, the staff were all very nice and couldn’t have been more helpful. However we had higher expectations for a Taj hotel.

My only concern or giving four stars is that the bathroom was not up to the mark. It was very dated. Looked very very old with spots on the big mirror. There were fewer amenities available than the other Taj Hotels I have stayed in. The bathtub had faded. The lining around the bathtub was not good as as somebody had tried to patch up things. The shower was not up to the mark. Rest everything was great Full marks to the staff and to the cleanliness.

This is my 3rd time I stayed in this hotel with my family and my experience was amazing. We were treated like we belong to a royal family. For every entry and exit from the hotel, a porter will always be there to open the door for you. I stayed for 5 days and either Saravanan or Saravanan B opened the door for me and helped me loading and unloading the luggage from the taxi. We were greeted by their front desk as if we belong to a royal family. Rosa welcomed us by making us wear a spiritual garland and served a honey-lemon drink, was delicious. We were escorted to our room and our luggage was already sent in our room. They have a restaurant on the ground floor named Veranda. We had both breakfast and dinner in Veranda. Food was delicious and there were quite a few options from Indian traditional food to Western. A Prabhakaran is the magic chef and I admire his modesty and hospitality. They offer buffet in breakfast and if you had the breakfast you won't even need lunch. I am short in words for the hospitality I received from customer relationship managers S Lokanath, Rishab, and Anjali. They were with us until we were done with our breakfast or dinner asking us if we need anything. Since my family was unable to make it in-person, S Lokanath and Rishab arranged in-room dinning and sent the food as per my wife and kids liking. If I ever again visit Chennai, I will definitely stay in this hotel.

At check in make sure you stay on the east side of the hotel, facing the hotel.

West side requires renovating and refurbishment. We had to take my wife to hospital to demonstrate she was unwell for us to get a room with a door to let fresh air after two days of 13 day stay. Windows open partially and too stuffy and dusty.

Reception try to sell you an upgrade not provide what you had requested.

Staff on the ground, poolside, restaurant, house keeping are just amazing. They made our stay great. Some middle managers are amazing when they realized our issues. No need to give names, too many are just amazing.

The chef, made us healthy breakfast, just first class. made my wife get better.

Would I stay there again? Yes. Feedback is to overall manager to fix issues to get better.

Everyone is a VIP at the Taj

A glamourous oasis of calm in the very centre of Chennai. This hotel is special, and the staff treat you like royalty. A most special mention to the man who looks after the pool during the week - he made the sunbeds for us and even offered to move our things to the shadier aide of the pool when the sun was too hot. A real stand out. Another superstar was Miller.g who truely made us feel like VIPs in the veranda restaurant on our last night. We were most saddened to leave as the staff made us feel like this was our home.

We stayed in a heritage room which was beautifully appointed - though perhaps when bookind be mindful that this is the older side of the hotel.

Connemara is in a great location- central for most things. Staff are lovely, very helpful, but restaurant/ drink service painfully slow. Food generally good.
Hotel is a beautiful building but is looking a little tired in places, needs a bit of an update. However, I would stay again, but these things could be improved.

We had a lovely stay at Taj Connemara in one of the heritage rooms.
The staff here are excellent, they were very attentive to our needs and provided a wonderful service. The property itself was extremely clean. We were there with our six month old baby and the hotel provided steamed vegetable purées at our request free of charge every day of the stay. We had lunch at the restaurant once and ordered from the in-room dining a few times and the food was always delicious.
There were a lot of mosquitoes in the lobby area and the room, which was disappointing at a five star hotel. The bathrooms in the room could also do with an upgrade. The second door in the shower wasn’t there which meant the bathroom was wet after a shower.
Having stayed in a few other five star hotels in India, I thought this property lacked the wow factor but a great team of staff from concierge to reception to food and beverage and laundry teams make you look past it. Thanks to Vijay and his team on the second floor for keeping our rooms clean.

Taj Connemara - living off the glory of the past

Connemara was once an Iconic Hotel. Today it is a relic of the past, like on old dowager. The wardrobe doors dont shut, the doors creak, water is not hot and response to complaints is pathetic. Even one star hotels have better water heating capability. While the common areas have a nice aroma, rooms are musty. But the only consistent thing is the quality of food, which is outstanding.

The hotel has be refurbished and renovated and given a new look, since it's a has a long history.
