We loved the property and our room. The room had a heating system but no AC, but given the time of the year it was perfect. We had the windows open most of the night to let the room cool down. The hotel had an easy walk to the bus stop and train. The staff was nice and friendly. Would def stay there again.

We have had a pleasant stay at hotel Alessandrino. It was nicely priced for a hotel in Rome. The room was clean, which is for us one of the most important things. The hotel staff was nice, relaxted and helpfull. Our room was small but it was ok for city trip. Bathroom could use a upgrade, rainshower was not ok anymore, but normal showerhead worked fine.
Downside of our room was mainly the noice from washing machines, cleaning and reception at all possible hours. The wall do not isolate any sound.
Location wise it is not typically in the most exiting area. It is great for going to the vatican, but little bit more far to other large attractions. It is walkable to center but expect times of 45minutes. Otherwise take a bus (8min walk) or other means of transport.
I think for what you pay you get a fair room.

Book only if your low on funds

This location is decent but requires a 12-minute walk, mostly uphill, which may be challenging for some. While it's in a nice area, the lack of nearby transportation and the steep incline may be inconvenient.

Our bathroom was not properly cleaned; there were signs a previous guest with blonde hair had stayed in our room. The walls are thin, so noise can be an issue. The bathroom design was poor, featuring an accordion-style shower screen that closes into a cramped square. Since the floor lacks proper drainage, the bathroom floods unless towels are placed around the shower. Additionally, the shower handle gets dangerously hot, which could be a concern for children.

Another issue is that the elevators are turned off after 9 a.m. for reasons unclear. Furthermore, you are required to leave your keys at the front desk whenever you leave, with staff assuring that \"someone is always there.\"

While the hotel claims to be 4-star, don't be misled—this is more of a 2-star experience.

Very cozy hotel situated in a good neighborhood. One breakfast spot and one Irish pub less than a 5 minute walk away. Close to the train station. Only thing is there is a church right next door that sometimes has chimes early in the morning, but by the second day I learned to sleep through it.

The hotel has good location, near vatican. However, it’s up to the hill. If they can keep all in good condition such as replace shower head, working hairdryer, good draining system for shower and sink, that will be nicer. If the hotel can provide the kettle in the room, that will be much better.

Was comfortable. AC works great, much needed in July when we visited. The area up on the hill was somewhat remote. There weren't alot of restaurants in the area. There is a small conveniece store a few blocks down the hill, so if you need anything. There was no parking at the hotel, unless you have a motorcycle. The street was jambed full with cars and we had to take our chances parking in front of a gate that belonged to the city and looked like it wasn't being used. But to be fair, we experienced similar parking conditions in other urban areas in Italy. Otherwise the hotel was good, with an attendant at the front desk. We stayed 2 nights and they replenished our towels as we asked.

There were ants on the bathroom floor and we couldn’t get restful sleep because we found bugs in the sheets. When we went to check out, the front desk person was snoring in a nearby room and only woke up after we called the front desk, which caused us to almost miss our train. The property was nice, but there are better options for a similar price.

This overpriced ‘hotel’ is more like a hostel… in fact, a hostel would be better.
The aircon doesn’t work.
The showerhead doesn’t work and the setting can’t be changed because it’s broken.
The sheets and towels have holes all through them.
The rooms are seriously noisy from other guests.
The location is sketchy.

The hotel itself was good for a single room and the price paid. Only downside is the hotel is situated on a slight hill but about 5-10min walk depending on pace there is public transport available, bus and train which go to various places. Bus ticket is only €1,50 and is valid for 100minutes. Strongly recommend using the train station to and from the airport as its only about €9, depending on age and amount of travellers, compared to €50 for a taxi.
The staff are helpful so just ask at the reception what you want to know.

We choose this hotel as a base for a long weekend in Rome but also based on a couple of factors, proximity to Vatican City and Rome, cost but also things like a mini-bar in the room, air conditioning, bathroom and a safety deposit box, oh and the roof terrace..
The mini-bar had nothing in it and the handle was broken so opening was a challenge. Air-conditioning = open the window! Only a shower in our small room with rust on a number of items, chrome missing off the taps and the extractor hanging off the ceiling by 2 screws. Safety deposit box only big enough to hold approx. 8 decks of cards.
The roof terr looks idyllic, first night it was pitch black and not very inviting and looks nothing like the photos.
The bed was a like lying in a mausoleum with pillows to match - HARD - with a ripped cover, luckily we were so tired after the first day, sleep came easily.
Reception were not very welcoming or helpful except Umberto (sorry if I got your name wrong) who helped us get to the Catacombs.

All in all the hotel was a disappointment and I would not recommend it!!

Free breakfast buffet in the morning. Roof top patio at night with views of the Vatican. Definitely would stay here again ❤️

The staff in this hotel is outstanding. The concierge was attentive and always ready to help in any way. The housekeeping was impeccable. This was the best housekeeping staff I have seen. They actually refill everything daily, and I saw the housekeepers moving furniture to clean!

The rooms were cool in spite of the heatwave, and our room had lovely shutters with a balcony. The rooftop deck with view of St. Peter's was a welcome retreat at the end if the day. The only negative I can think of, is that it is high on a hill, which makes walking tough. It is no problem for adults of average health to negotiate though, and the view is worth it. There is a 24 hour market nearby, and a great strip of restaurants/bistros just down the steps. Try Santo Stefano's for dinner.

Had a strange check in where the receptionist told us he needed to keep our passports for 10 minutes and we could come back and pick them up later!
The hotel is in a nice quiet area but needs a bit of updating. Our room was very small but the air conditioning was great whoch was so important during the 30+ degree heat that we had.
Breakfast was very simple and plain but ok for us, I would expect some people would be disappointed though.
If I stayed here again it would be for the area rather than the hotel.

Hotel: is a boutique very traditional Italian design which we loved! It has a side patio on the mezzanine and a roof top terrace on the 5th floor with an amazing view! Can’t miss that.
Rooms: we got the family room for 5, so it was spacious. Situated in the corner so we had a balcony door and nice windows with great view of the neighbourhood and the Vatican basilica’s rooftop. Beds are a little hard with only one pillow each bed which I think is normal for a hotel in Rome. But mind you, this Hotel is very clean which is very important to me. That’s a plus for me! Free WiFi and continental breakfast included each morning. Which is an additional plus for my family.
Location: is a little uphill on a very quiet residential neighbourhood. Try the cafe beside with the best pastas we had! Close to the bus stop of Gregorio VII and right on San Pietro Metro station. About 10-15 minutes walk to the Vatican.
Staff: Most of them are nice. Some needs to smile more and be more welcoming. Because that’s important to us, the guests. But, GIOVANNI and GEORGIA at the reception stood out because we felt welcome and are very, very pleasant and helpful! Daniel at the breakfast area and the cleaners are very nice as well!
Overall rating: Excellent, will recommend to our friends and families.

The place is cute on the outside but If you get a single room... it’s sooo freaking claustrophobic and awkwardly shaped. You need to leave the key with the front desk when you leave. They wouldn’t let my friends come up to my room without giving his passport information. They only give one towel. I asked for an extra towel and it was dirty. There’s no place to put your soap in the shower. The breakfast ends at 9:30 am... so I only ate 2x out of the 6 days. The rooms have no sound proofing... so bring your earplugs. My neighbors were loud until 1:30 am and I couldn’t sleep.

Saving graces for this place... when they ran out of eggs and I asked them for some, they made extra for me. Seems like the hotel staff is nice....they took care of the hotel room issues and called a cab for me. it’s an uphill trek to this hotel but it’s close to the Roma San Pietro train and bus stop and kinda close to the Vatican.

5th Floor had a beautiful view of St. Peter's Basilica. Uniquely located near the Vatican via a short walk. Near a train station and a few bus stops - making getting around by public transportation simple.

However... Hotel room safe did not have a lock. Mini-fridge was difficult to use because the handle had broken off. No hair conditioner provided. Amenities (water bottles) were inconsistently re-stocked (Not daily). Thin walls and noisy neighbors made sleep difficult - especially when someone checked out early in the morning, the staff was quick to clean the room, which meant vacuuming at 8am. No carpets, so noise echoed through the halls. I also asked the front desk for an extra pillow and was told there were no extra pillows available.

Overall, not disappointed with our stay but would have liked more sleep. If you are looking for a budget vacation, this is probably a strong choice, but I would have paid a little extra for improved service and amenities.

If you like walking this location is perfectly located near the Vatican. We walked everywhere from St. Peter's square to the Coliseum. Would not have been possible if it were located elsewhere. The staff was very helpful and most speak 2 or more languages which was very helpful. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants and sights to see. The free continental breakfast wasn't great. It's a very skippable amenity. The worst thing about the property though would have to be the beds. The mattresses were very hard and not comfortable in the slightest. All in all it was a decent experience.

While well situated (a short walk from the vatican), the hotel can be a bit hard to locate, tucked away behind a wall. The other advantage of this location is that it is super quiet.

This hotel is clean and comfortable and it has a good hot free breakfast. Front desk is friendly and there's a good view from the top floor (5th) patio. Located near the bus line and the train. It should cost no more than 40 Euro taxi from Fiumicino but you can train it for 8 euro per person. Expect a 4 Euro per person per night charge, who knows for what....and they want it in cash. If you use mass transit to and from it's a long walk uphill to get to the hotel.

I am going to say it was the worst bed I’ve ever slept on, hard as a rock. The a/c doesn’t get turned on until May so April guests can just deal with (that’s a pathetic policy). Tiny shower that’s worthless as there is no place to put soap/razor/shampoo. In America I’d give it a 2 out of 10 right behind motel 6.

Average condition, in average area close to Vatican. Hotels stayed in after that on the same trip, in Venice, Paris and Geneva, all raised the bar and definitely better in different facets. Venice, amazing hotel decor and interior (Hotel Principe). Paris, the best due to extremely friendly staff going the extra mile - feel like friends after the trip (Hotel Elysees Union). Geneva neat and new with nothing to fault (Hotel Edelweiss) - not as good as Venice or Paris hotels though.

Close but not comfortable

Loved the hotel's proximity to the Vatican, but not comfortable. The room was hot and stuffy with uncomfortable bed and harsh water pressure in the bathroom. The service and breakfast and was nice, but not enough to want to stay again.

The hotel is quite close to the Vatican. Closest cabinieri is san pietre, an uphill/downhill walk that takes about 12 -15 minutes.
You'll feel like a local as you're surrounded by homes/apartments in the area.
Wifi is quite slow though. Make sure to keep some € as you'll have to pay 4€/per person per night

Guest review during 2 weeks in Europe.

Overall hotel experience was decent, service wasn't that friendly from some staff but their were a few nice employees. They don't let you bring your hotel key out of the hotel which was very odd to me but they have old metal keys for all the doors so I assume it was to prevent copies being made. Room had large balcony to ourselves which was great and bathroom was nice. Beds were alright and location was good we were 10 minute walk from the Vatican and lots of cafes and restaurants.

Bare needs met, not 3 stars

I was kind of disappointed in my selection of this hotel. It definitely is not a three-star hotel, I would say two stars at most. It is old and outdated, the shower is ridiculously small, the rooms are noisy and walls are thin. Giovanni at the front desk was nice and helpful, but the rest of the staff barely answered questions. You need to take buses and other transportation to get to the main sites, we ended up taking taxis most the time. Out of all the hotels I stayed in Italy, this one I would put at the bottom of the list. The bed is kind of firm, the air condition owner was weak, and the Wi-Fi was also weak. Breakfast was adequate, although we had better breakfast us at other places in Italy. They also have a city tax that you need to pay in cash, all other hotels took a credit card. They finally did take a credit card because we did not have euros and our flight was in the wee morning hours. Thank God they did, as I was too tired to walk all the way down and up the hill to an ATM.

Okay stay.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights. 4 people to 1 room. We received a 1 full size bed, 1 twin, and 1 couch bed. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Wifi sucked-poor connection. The fridge could not get cold. The hotel provided breakfast (coffee, juice, cereal, milk, croissants, eggs, bacons, some deli meats) with our booking. They do not serve Lunch or Dinner if needed. No other amenities offered. The hotel was located uphill. Staff wasn't friendly. About 10 mins walk to the train station. About 20 mins walk to the Vatican City.
