The property was in perfect condition. The food at all of the restaurants was very good. We had the All Inclusive and we were not disappointed. We had a suite, the beds were very comfortable. Everything about our stay was excellent! We never got hassled to purchase a TS either. All and all, a great stay!

I will never go back to any Solmar resort nor to Cabos. First we were “upgraded” to some mold smelling room at the back side of the resort, at the street side. Unacceptable, so we went back. Our original room was in renovation, so we got for one night another room and had to move the next day to yet another room. A bad start. Those two rooms were nice and large. About 30% of the place is in renovation. Extremely strict smoking rules, not even a corner in the resort you could smoke. Not allowed to swim in the ocean, which is one thing. But the moment you’re on the beach, close the water, they already come running and screaming after you and treat you disrespectfully like you’re a child. Moreover, no potable water in room, no bottles, nothing. We could buy a bottle for $9 USD every day. The resort and Cabos altogether is abusively expensive and it doesn’t feel Mexican at all (no mariachi, hardly any Mexicans, for 90% American tourists), way too American. The location however is beautiful and breathtaking! But I’ll never go back there. Mexico has so many better places to enjoy.

No major complaints. It is a great location. Staff was very friendly. And the grounds were kept in good clean condition.. The rooms are nice other than the large whirlpool tub in the master bedroom sweet. Also seemed like the staircases were closed due to maintenance on the tile work, which could be annoying at times as the elevator was very slow.. overall I would highly recommend this property.

This is a beautiful and pristine resort located on a quiet stretch of the ocean. What you experience everyday are boats lazily floating by doing some whale watching. The staff are AMAZING and some of the friendliest I have met at any resort. Shout out to LeyLani and Rodrigo of the entertainment staff! You will feel welcomed your entire stay. The twice weekly shows are definitely worth going. The emcee Roberto is hilarious.

Fell down resort stairs that didn’t have handrails. This created a situation where I had to be medicated, back to the USA. I requested for resort to give me back credit for time not used. (Accident was day after first arrived). Through Expedia which was unsuccessful I’ve seen zero response or apologies from the resort themselves which is very disappointing. Expedia tried but resort did nothing for use. However staff personnel were very kind. Especially a doctor they have with the resort

Great resort. The path to Marina was closed so had to walk around the long way to get there. Not pushy about time share. Food/drinks$$$ but it’s what you would expect from a resort. (we did not do all-inclusive because we knew we wanted to try lots of the local restaurants.) weak drinks for $16+ a pop, but amazing food. Room was spacious and clean-pools were beautiful, lots of fun activities to do.

I recently stayed at Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
From the moment we arrived, the reception staff was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Instead of feeling like valued guests, we felt like we were inconveniencing them. Any questions or concerns we raised were met with dismissive attitudes and zero effort to help.
The biggest issue started when we discovered that the heater in our room was not working. The room was cold and uncomfortable, and despite reporting the issue, nothing was done to resolve it in a timely manner. To make matters worse, there were plumbing problems and a terrible mold smell throughout the room. The room itself felt very old, outdated, and poorly maintained — definitely not what you would expect from a resort of this level.
Because the heater was never properly fixed, we were forced to pay for a taxi ourselves and go to Walmart to purchase two portable heaters just to make the room livable. This was completely unacceptable and an unnecessary expense that should never fall on guests.
Another frustrating aspect was the pools. While the hotel advertises itself as “family friendly,” most of the pools were designated adults-only. This made it very difficult to enjoy the amenities as a family and felt misleading.
Overall, between the rude reception, unhelpful staff, broken heater, plumbing issues, mold smell, outdated room, and misleading pool access, this stay was incredibly disappointing.

Excellent room, supposed to be an older hotel but could not tell as our room was totally up to date, bathroom like a spa! Overall hotel in \"as new\" condition, staff quick to smile and help with anything you need. We added breakfast buffet to our package and found a decent variety ( omelette/waffle station etc.) Bottom line was the hotel exceeded our expectations. Two thumbs up for zero annoying vendors on beach. Two more for the staff!!

My room was newly renovated. However, most rooms are 30 years old and have plumbing problems. Older rooms are different for seniors to bathe in step down tub shower combo.

Enjoyed the Sports Bar in the lobby. It was reasonably priced compared to other offerings on the resort. Food was good in the Sports Bar. Coffee Bar was good - coffee pretty strong so had to dilute it but the pastries were good.

Our stay was excellent!! Our room was a pleasant surprise-very spacious. The staff was outstanding starting with check-in through checkout. We were fortunate enough to attend both the Mexican fiesta and the beach party- had a fantastic time. The entertainment staff go above and beyond. I can’t remember all their names but Roberto, Leylani, Sarah, Rodrigo-all so friendly. Waiters at the pool were outstanding. We can’t wait to come back!!

The refurbished rooms are great except the new bed mattress are on the firm side. I slept on the sofa.
However, the rooms that have not been renovated, look nice and clean, but they have a lot of problems with plumbing. At least that is what my cousin said.

the building we were put in was under construction for the 2 weeks we stayed. Jack hammers running from 9 in the morning till 5 O clock in the afternoon. We could not stay in the room at all in the day time as the walls were vibrating. Every where you go in the resort the their are stair to climg or go down. you are not allowed to go in the ocean as there are guards telling you to get out of the water. we will never return there again ,and anybody I talk to about the trip will be told the same thing.

Very comfortably beds- luxury linens in the Master Suites
Great for kids; lots of activities and Entertainment team is top notch
Short walk to Grand Solmar was a highlight of our week. Gorgeous pool areas, Roca restaurant was very, very good with beautiful ocean views.
Cons: With exception of the newer, higher priced units, rooms and property in general are a bit dated.
This is a fairly expansive resort with countless paths , hallways and stairs, Many have uneven surfaces either from age/wear or by design. This is definitely not a “heels friendly” place. Bring your nicest tennies! Food is just OK. If you are non - alcohol drinkers, the options are pretty slim as far as NA beers or cocktails go.
All in all, this is a nice resort for at least one visit if not more.

Original room was a bit mildewy, so we requested a move and they completed that the next day. That was a bit of a disappointment, but the second room was excellent. Second year in a row we ended up making a move after one day.

Staff were mostly great again this year. Entertainment team - Leylani, Sara, Aimee, Jair, Miguel were great. Meseros at the pool were excellent - Eduardo, Daniel, Ricardo, Jaime were gracious and attentive. Meseros for breakfast were fantastic as well - Fernando, Jorge, Jose, Humberto.

Playa Grande is our second home.

The room was excellent with a huge balcony overlooking the marina — cannot beat the location. I booked this place specifically because it offered a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen — very hard to come by, especially when looking for an all inclusive resort. Staff was very helpful and friendly and the resort itself was lovely. I would, however, only recommend this hotel to those who have money to spend and no timeline. We definitely did not get our monies worth. We paid for all-inclusive which just paid for meals — we were still expected to tip at all locations (and dine-in is required, so that’s a lot of tips), the on-site coffee cart was not included, and despite having a full kitchen, they don’t even include dish soap or complimentary coffee, let alone a wet bar or even bottles of water that are the norm at most resorts and many basic hotels. Surprised and disappointed that you are required to dine-in at each restaurant; you can’t order out and there’s no place to just grab food and go. This was very frustrating having brought a toddler where we were trying to stick to nap times (especially with slower service, making the fastest meal still at least 90 minutes) and having booked excursions off site.

Property is very well situated between the ocean and marina area/mountain view. Property was spotless and well maintained, staff were very friendly and poolside service was really great. Hector our server over the course of our stay was amazing - I’d seek him out specifically. Room was large and had everything one would need. A couple of things were a little dated (funky electrical and well worn patio doors) and could use a refresh but know there are upgrades ongoing at the property. Did not distract from our overall satisfaction with our stay. Young adult children in ocean side room had a perfect set up (and new sliding patio door :). Would absolutely recommend the property and will look to return again.

We had a blast during our Christmas 2025 week visit - my wife and I along with our 3 adult children had adjoining rooms - plenty of space, clean rooms and great views. Adult pool was very fun and great views of the ocean and whales! The beach was beautiful....nobody trying to sell us anything and very clean! We also enjoyed walking to the marina. Rooms very clean - maybe a little outdated like some reviews say but we did not care about that! Staff was also very nice. We are very likely to return.

The water was yellow in the shower everyime you first turn it on. Room was very loud from noises above us and outside the room waking us up several times. Cant adjust water temp for bathtub / shower
either burning you or its off. There was a very loud party above us last night contacted reception and was told they would contact security. Got little to no sleep before our full day flying home. if your not all inclusive the mini golf is 20 usd for 9 holes / person

Overall, a very nice property with a few exceptions. Very low quality televisions in our suite. Surprising for a high-end resort. Lamps in suite beaten up and in poor working condition. Got food poisoning yesterday morning at the Playa Grande’s Calima restaurant. Pretty much ruined our last day on property. Spa services below par in quality, particularly staff attitudes. Unlikely to return. By far the best employee we dealt with all 9 days was Daniel on the pool server staff. He was amazing!

We were disappointed with our room overlooking the marina as it was loud (clubs at night, seals and dogs barking, and lots of traffic noise). We preferred the pacific view room we had the last time. The resort and amenities are beautiful and the staff are very friendly. We love the location with lots of things to do within walking distance. Wish we could swim in the ocean, but the sound of the waves crashing and beautiful sunsets made up for it. We’d stay here again but only if we were guaranteed a room on the Pacific side.
