Paid to upgrade for a room which overlooked the cathedral square. Very nice room. The communal areas were atmospheric. The reception staff were very helpful. One of the waitresses needs extra customer care training.

Hotel estupendo y personal eficiente y amable. Fuimos cuatro y alquilamos dos habitaciones. el último día que nuestra estancia Nos imprimieron resultados de vacuna que fue importante para nosotros porque viajamos a Boston usa y es mas fácil presentar que en el teléfono. Tiene una ubicación excelente en el corazón de la ciudad desde donde se puede ir a restaurantes, tiendas y bares. Estuvimos seis días, Agradecemos que nos cambiaran de habitación sin problema porque la primera estaba lejos del ascensor y mi marido ya es mayor y no puede caminar fácilmente Los baños están reformados pero solo con bañera alta no adaptada para mayores. Habitaciones con Plato de ducha serian necesarias para que minusválidos y personas de edad tengan más seguridad y no se caigan.

This is an absolutely lovely hotel with excellent, well furnished, luxurious rooms and it is beautifully presented. Lunch or dinner in the covered courtyard is a must and very well set out and served by attentive, friendly staff. The Tavern was closed on the days we stayed which was disappointing but drinks and snacks were still available in the courtyard. La Lola (gastro café?) was sadly disappointing and rather soulless (not sure what crowd or market they are trying to attract) but the rest of the hotel is really charming and an excellent base from which to explore Ávila.

Great two-night stay in Avila

Had an enjoyable 2-night stay at the Hotel Palacio de los Velada. Was able to park the car for a short time in front of the hotel to unload bags and check in before moving the car to the hotel's car park.

Room was nicely appointed, very comfortable, quiet, and had a view above the interior courtyard of the cathedral. Quality linens.

Breakfast was included in our rate and was a large buffet.

Have no complaints about this property and recommend it!

Perfect location but service only adequate

Hotel is in the ideal location of Avila. Easy walking distance to dining, shopping, and all the attractions we came to visit. Our first room had a bad smell of sewer but the staff gave us another room without question. The front desk service was acceptable but not really friendly to any inquires we had. The new room was nice and very quiet in the evenings with a courtyard view over the banquet area but the bed was not very comfortable. The main courtyard bar area downstairs offers a nice selection of food in a casual bar lobby type setting but after we ordered coffee one afternoon about 4:00pm we tried to order food and they said they stopped serving until 8. There were at least 6 servers still on duty for a handful of guests but nowhere on their menu did they show their food service hours so a bit frustrating. We also had a drink at the La Taberna bar in the basement which had a very cool underground vibe. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel purely for location but the customer service side really could take it up a notch to make international guests feel more welcome.

Very elegant, centrally located hotel in Avila. We stayed for just one night and did not get to enjoy most of the amenities because a group of local friends entertained us until very late and we headed out to Segovia the next day. Beautiful architecture to admire in and out, with most of downtown at walking distance.

Very nice hotel to check into after a long drive from Porto. A bit of confusion over whether u can drive up to the hotel inside ancient walls. And of course exorbitant parking charges - 25% of the cost of the room. But friendly staff, easy check-in, nice room and good breakfast. All right in the middle of this medieval city.

We absolutely loved our stay. The location was perfect for walking in the old town. The check in was smooth and the staff very helpful when ordering our taxi. Many other reviewers raved about the buffet and now we know why. The food and assortment of choices for the breakfast buffet was excellent. We would love to return. The hotel decor was so lovely, keeping with the theme of historic Avila; there was plenty of space and lounging areas to enjoy it.

Welcome from reception was non existent, purley functional. We called hotel to get info on parking - you have to go through a series of menus to get to reception including an English speaking option. Despite this we could not be understood so we're cut off.... twice. Hotel is very nice and in a great location but the unwelcoming reception and lack of any real personal service lets it down. If driving you can't book parking in the hotels garage, so it's first come first serve and the garage has very limited space for the size of hotel, so get there early otherwise you'll be forced to park some way away.

Ideally located in the centre of the old town. Literally a stone's throw from the cathedral (and no, you can't hear the bells!). From a tourist's perspective, everything is pretty much on your door-step. Taxi from station was about 5EUR (and isn't walk-able!).

Great location but musty and smelly.

The front desk staff made us feel like were bothering them. They kept rushing us even if we had a few questions still left unanswered. They need “customer—service” training.

The room was small and smelled MUSTY! The carpet smelled bad that we kept the balcony doors open to bring in fresh air. The bathroom did not have a vent so it smelled musty in there too!

Best in Avila

This is unquestionably the best hotel in Avila! Historic, beautiful building, excellent location. My only quibble was that the first room I was given was not very pleasant: relatively small, hot, no window just a skylight. I asked for another and got a very nice, airy room with French doors and a small balcony. Bathroom was quite large with an excellent tub. All in all, very good value.

Good Downtown Hotel

Avila is city with 15th. century walls which are very accessible. It has an old Cathedral and an interesting Medieval town within the walls, all of which are enjoyable to the tourist. Many walks, short and long can be taken for different old and antique buildings to be seen.

Very nice and stylish hotel. Haven't had any stay in hotel like this among my trips to Europe yet. One of a kind … priceless.
Yet the local tourist attractions are just so so. Not very interesting indeed. The town properly doesn't have the needed funding to maintain the buildings and churches.

Overpriced.

The photo of the central courtyard is inticing - and it is lovely in reality - but the rest of the hotel doesn’t live up to it. I think the renovation was around 15 years ago - and it shows. It’s all a bit passé now. Didn’t eat there but there are lots of bars and restaurants a 5 min stroll away, and parking on the outskirts of the walls was only €1.05 for 24 hours. Just need to park in the right direction though (Hotel didn’t mention that but luckily a local did when we were parking).

We wanted a hotel that was convenient to drive into town (it is inside the wall) and for parking. Great location, fairly easy to get to and out of. The historic nature of the hotel was very enjoyable. It is big and roomy with delightful courtyards for eating. Breakfast was excellent. The town is very accessible. Would recommend and stay there again.

This is a wonderful hotel from every perspective. Service was consistenly excellent. Our room was spacious and bright. Bed and all linens were premium. The bathroom is spacious and made of marble and very attractive matching tile. New bathroom fixtures. Everything is kept scrupously clean. The hotel has a beautiful central atrium with glass ceiling with an overall cover that is drawn to provide shade during hottest time of day. Resturant and bar are in atrium. Parking is under the hotel. Best of all, the hotel is right on the cathedral plaza, right in the center of town. Two minute walk to cathedral, less than five minute walk to entrance to stairs leading up to walk along the wall the surrounds the town. Avila is very charming. The hotel's plain facade belies a very lovely interior. This hotel added much to our enjoyment of touring and visiting there. Only downside is that the hotel elevator does not descend to garage level. Rather than carrying luggage up a long flight of stairs from garage to lobby elevator, we unloaded at lobby level before parking in the garage. Simple solution to a minor problem. Also, gates through the medieval walls entering the townstreets are very narrow as are the streets throughout town.....but that's to be expected in such an old town. Overall: Great hotel, beautiful town, good value for money.

I stayed there for one night. Getting there in s car was tricky but once arrived it was great. The hotel is literally 25 meters from the main cathedral facade. Everything in old town of Avila is easily reachable within a short walk. Hotel staff were super friendly. Parking for my car in the underground lot was only 10$ per day. Price was very, very good. Great restaurants are just outside the city walls ~ 100 yards away. I'd stay there again for sure.

A good hotel

The hotel is very well situated. I think upstairs had recently been redecorated as one could smell the paint and everything looked clean and fresh. The bedroom was pretty and had a very nice bathroom with a marble surrounded basin which gave an air of cleanliness and luxury.

I love that this hotel was right in the middle of town. A few directions as to places to eat the first day would have been helpful but the hotel breakfast was great and the room was very comfortable and spacious. Everyone was very friendly at the hotel AND around town. I definitely want to go again.

We really enjoyed this hotel, especially the courtyard dining area. We wished we'd eaten there instead of the independent basement restaurant, but we did enjoy our desert and cocktails there. Our room was on the 2nd floor under the roof and had a bit of a height constraint, but was otherwise comfortable. In Avila, this is the place

We went during the festival in September and it was fantastic. This hotel is located right inside the city walls next to the cathedral. The town is great, this hotel is a very high class hotel and is impeccably kept. I would recommend for anyone. The staff was nice, everything else first rate.

This is a very chic and original hotel with great covered patios. And well positioned next to the cathedral and close to the beautiful Avila wall. The rooms are very comfortable. Only minus was the staff, who was not very friendly :(
