My stay here in 2026 was alright. The pool located on the beach was taken away, as that was the main attraction of this hotel when I stayed here in 2024. For a $400/night stay here for the 2 bedroom suite, we called for 4 bottles of water (less than $1 market price) and was told it would cost $10 to bring it to our room. Breakfast is mediocre. Staff was a mixed bag. View is nice. Paid pretty much for the view.

The room we stayed was noisy due to construction next door but the staff was able to change our room per our request quickly to accommodate our needs. Great courtesy and services.

I was very impressed from the moment I walked in the door. Excellent service and a cool drink during check in.

The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are large, the buffet breakfast is huge, and the food is fresh! The iced Vietnamese coffee was delicious! The private beach area with walkway above the busy street, with chairs, towels, and drinks/food option was fabulous! The staff is kind, and helpful in all ways. They arranged a limousine ride back to Ho Chi Minh City airport for us, and it was wonderful! We will return again for sure!

The property is absolutely First Class. The issue would be a lot of construction as Vung Tau is growing into a major destination. We won’t hold that against The Imperial Hotel, it just bears sharing. There are roadblocks and noise which will no doubt subside. Hopefully soon. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the food is great. Very helpful friendly staff. The beach has way too much rubbish, even in front of the hotel. But…this is a special property!

Staff was very nice, especially the bell hop gentleman that brought my luggage to the room. His name is Anthony. He spoke great English and was very friendly. Asked if my needs and provided great suggestions, Always willing to assist. He should be promoted and train new staff on hospitality. He gets it.

For the daily inclusive breakfast, again great staff service and delicious variety of foods.

Price is in the higher side for the quality but service makes up for feeling welcomed and catered to.

Due to tet holiday, the hotel was extremely busy. Things to note: make sure you bring CMND (Vn identification) or passport. If passport is non- Vietnam, make sure to include visa entering VN.

We arrived 2h30 after long trip so was pretty tired. Were being told to wait as checkin time is 3pm, they asked for phone number to contact when room is ready. While waiting, you were offered welcome drink which is very nice and refreshing. After an hr or so, we asked again and apparently the room is ready. Except for checkin, service is overall good, nice hotel, room has some worn out. Few steps to the beach, a bit far 1-2mile away from central with food and entertainment.

Honestly guys, this is just a mismatch of expectations. The hotel probably was super amazing 15-20 years ago. However it still has the same furniture from back then. Generally there is little to no maintenance in the buildings or rooms. Set your expectations low.

Also -- the town itself -- Vung Tao. It could be lovely, and probably someday soon it might be? but when we got there its basically just a bunch of construction on the \"beach\". New beach clubs and/or restaurants etc incoming I guess?

Speaking of restaurants and the \"beach club\". The connected seafood restaurant claims to be in the top 10% of all restaurants world wide. An extremely curious claim ... and while I was eating there, I was wondering what the other 9 restaurants (out of 10) are like.

The beach club... its... an old pool, some 20 year old plastic lounge chairs, with a super great view of the beach construction... and expensive drinks. My main impression it was \"sad. \"

Save your money. Go to another beach destination.

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but this experience was so bad I felt compelled to warn others.

The room smelled like damp mildew, and the bed was unbearable—sagging, with springs poking into your back. My wife had to take sleeping pills just to get some rest.

The food? Awful. The buffet was the same every day, clearly reheated leftovers, and tasted like it. Save yourself the risk of food poisoning.

The private beach, the main reason we booked, was unusable due to jellyfish season—something Expedia or the hotel failed to disclose. The beach itself was across the street, poorly maintained, with construction noise, broken chairs, and rusted facilities. Service was also lacking, requiring constant effort to get attention.

To top it off, the shuttle company the hotel uses, *Toan Thang Car*, was a nightmare. The driver tried to scam us into paying extra for better seats, and later, the van broke down, leaving us stranded on the roadside.

This hotel is far from a “5-star” experience and is a complete waste of money. Ownership clearly doesn’t care or want to invest into maintaining the property it needs major work. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

I read a review of this property, which said that was dated. First of all, it’s not even 20 years old. Second of all it is from the genre of old English royalty.

And it’s exactly how you feel when you’re there. I could list some complaints like the pool was too cold but then again this was January But everything was just impeccably maintained and beautiful.

The people working in the hotel were beyond my expectation. And yes, I travel throughout the world and stay at pretty expensive places. But this was very reasonable in price. Everything from the breakfast which was outstanding was wonderful. My wife is Vietnamese. I am not, but I tend to eat all Vietnamese food most of the time of course. I was really really happy with their selections in the morning.

The room was as if it was royalty. The bed felt like I was Getting in bed with Maria Antoinette. I don’t think my wife would’ve liked that.

Unless it was after the guillotine.

I wonder if they’re gonna publish this.

If you want to enjoy this city, which by the way is one of my favorite other than Danang. This is the place to be. Close to everything wonderful beach club wonderful pools both sides of the hotel. Very good restaurant on the sea.

When we call to request, they informed us plates and utensils were only provided to guest who stayed 7 days plus. Room did not offer a safe to keep our valuables. The propery is very nice, high rise building with small swiming pool on the roof. Beautiful view approximately 3km from Down Town Ho Chi Min City. It is reasonable priced and has very nice breakfast. The comon area are decorated very nice. Rooms are large and clean. One problem is that we are not able to open the windows to get fresh air, but the AC works great.
Overal very nice hote with excellent staff.

The hotel was nice. The staff were somewhat friendly. The hotel has a no outside food or drink policy which was really irritating. Especially when that isn’t revealed until check in and the room was non-refundable You are forced to eat at the on-site restaurants or find something local. So if you don’t feel like leaving your room you are stuck with the hotels extremely over priced and limited room service options. I would call the room service a down right rip off.
The breakfast buffet that we added on to our room was decent. Something I ate gave me a bad case of food poisoning. I was extremely ill for the last four days of our stay. My wife was fine and we basically ate the same foods.

Most nearby and hotel restaurants didn’t run AC during the time of our visit (October). For good local foods one must go away from the beach front areas to the city centers.

Stayed for 5 nights in a Heritage Deluxe King Oceanview room. Quick and friendly check in process. Good sized, well proportioned rooms with classic decor - and a very comfy bed. Good choice of food at the breakfast buffet. And a great pool area - with a very reasonably priced pool side menu. Would definitely stay again when in Vung Tau.

The Imperial Hotel is the Real Deal

This hotel is fully legit. Everything you see on the site that you think is an over-sell is actually for real. This is a very nice, big hotel with impressive lobbies and courteous staff everywhere. The room we booked was like a presidential suite, and borderline opulent. As Americans we felt very comfortable here. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, and frankly a highlight of the trip. There are two pools. A fun one, and the big nice one on the beach at the \"beach club\" that you can walk to from the hotel lobby. Yes, the beach club thing is completely for real, and right on a private beach you will have basically to yourselves. At times we felt like we were in a rap video - it was in fact that cool. The other interesting thing is that Vung Tao is a destination spot for Vietnamese tourists, not foreigners. So about 90% of the other hotel patrons were well-to-do Vietnamese people. So, if you are scared about going to a nice hotel in a foreign country and being surrounded by other foreign tourists - don't be. This hotel is authentic, upscale, and Western-friendly. We were well taken care of by genuinely courteous staff at all times, and will be coming right back here for our next trip to Vietnam.

The good: Staff, breakfast, pools, beach access, ornate and stylish decor.
The less good: It's a little remote. There is not much within walking distance, unless you like giant open-air seafood restaurants, of which there are many, but their reviews aren't so good. The food at the hotel restaurants is excellent however.
If you want a lazy getaway where you lounge by the pool, go to the beach club, and eat in the hotel, this is perfect. If you want a little more variety, then accept taking taxis everywhere (admittedly still cheap but a pain).

Expedia customer service: please help me to ask for refund for our bad experience with The Imperial Vung Tau Hotel , see following incident:

April 1 , we stayed at The Imperial hotel room 1708 , we had very bad experience! We found out the toilet bowl was clogged shortly after dinner time, we called & the hotel sent someone to fix it around 7:30 pm. But in the middle of the night the toilet bowl was blocked again! Because of the problem with the toilet bowl, our room smelled bad all night long! I notified the hotel next morning April 2rd at 7:30am in the morning, and they sent another person to repair it, but the toilet bowl couldn't be used anymore, still blocked! At 10am , I checked out and informed the hotel management, but they said there was nothing they could do. I asked for compensation , they said I need to contact Expedia because the booking was by Expedia! We paid for an upgraded hotel 5 star, and we couldn’t go to the bathroom the whole night and we had to endure the bad smell in the room all Night !

Staff and service was excellent. From bell boys to kitchen staff and front desk clerk are very helpful and care making us feel very important. Front desk were very accommodating and help us change room as we were not happy with our first room.

We had number of issues with our room and after calling front desk ,problem gets fixed within minutes. Massage therapists were very skillful, I had one of the best massage there.

We were very surprised the hotel gave us a complimentary limousine ride back to Saigon after we checked out. That were way above our expectations. Food were also very good and a lot variety. Loved the coffee machine.

This is a nice 5 star hotel . It has been maintained well. Service is excellent from reception to doorman .. we love the seafood restaurant facing the sea. Met a lady manager? Who is excellent in service.

Lift access near the receptionist is a bit slow. Breakfast and variety taste great..
We stay in the family room.. 716.. feel clean. Surprise there are 2 toliets .Just the toliet near the main door do not have a soap dish and no place to hang the hand towel. Which can be easily improved. The other main toliet ia excellent..

Surprise that it seen to be low season and Vung Tau is quite deserted

Lucky there is a lotte mart nearby and cal use grab easily.

Its a beautiful hotel, especially the Private beach club which we loved it so much. The breakfast selection is good and the food is yummy. The room is big and beautiful. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Nothing to complain. Highly recommended.
