Unparalleled standards

As always, my stay at Intercontinental Foshan was incredibly pleasant. Thanks to Javin at front desk, restaurant waiter Wells, front desk Annie, lobby reception, Lilian, breakfast room,
Miu and Mandy. A hotel can be clean, well located, reasonably priced, etc. These are things we expect from a 5* hotel but the people are what makes one hotel stand out from another. The standards followed by the people at this property are unparalleled elsewhere.

I was so pleasantly surprised to find my favorite front desk clerk (Javin) waiting to serve me at check-in. She is always the highlight of my visits to Foshan Intercontinental! As always (when she is able) she upgraded me to a superb room. Javin always makes my stays here just a little more pleasant! The hotel the entire staff are world class. Take it from someone who knows. I’ll take 5 international trips this year but the intercontinental Foshan is always consistently number one for me in service, food service and atmosphere. The dining staff and restaurants are also consistently number one. The know my preferences and go absolutely out of their way to ensure all my needs are met. This property excels in every way. I’d give it 6 stars if I could!

T.Lee's first stay in Foshan

My expectation was high when I booked the hotel due to the picture of the swimming pool. The location was excellent and close to the subway station. Check-in was smooth and fast. Got a nice upgrade to a junior suite. The stay of the first few days was excellent except the very last day when I went to the swimming pool which is a non-smoking area but there were people smoking lying on the chair. However, no hotel staff enforces the rules. Also, the men's change room to enter the pool's area was not maintained well. I will stay in this hotel again but not using the swimming pool.

Lost in translation

The main attraction was the outdoor pool and on arrival found out the pool would be closed the following day so very disappointed and the Chinese to English translation had the wrong dates so confusing. After establishing the pool Wouk be closed the hotel did offer a room upgrade which was appreciated. Very nice stay. Staff corrected the translation.

Rooms were very outdated. Booked a club room and it was no better than a standard room. Was on a non-smoking floor but rooms and corridors still smelt like stale smoke. Air-con is in the rooms but doesn't seem to change the temperature, we found the entire hotel to be extremely hot. Lots of the cardio machines in the gym were out of use during our visit and the gym was unbearably hot (even at 5am).

Not being mean but maintenance of the hotel is poor, there's no toilet can be used inside the changing room of swimming pool area, the cleaning condition is quite bad as well. Furthermore, I lost a small metal stick inside my room and am quite sure where i put, however, I can't get it back finally.

Very pleasant stay - I would be pleased to return

This was my second stay at this hotel and it is very pleasant. I appreciated the quality service and the overall facilities. The staff all have a good working knowledge of English, which is very important for a business hotel in China. The hotel is located close to a mall which boasts many shops and restaurants. The area is very beautiful,within a lovely lake district, and is very clean and safe. The local people in the area where very friendly and welcoming to us.
I highly appreciate the shuttle bus to the Canton Fair.
The metro station is also only 10 mins away!
I would certainly visit this hotel for my next visit to the Foshan area

This is a very good hotel with international standard. The property was well maintained and services above average. My only negative comments are:
1. There was a burn mark on the rubber mat on the writing table caused by placing hot iron by someone. This should have been changed.
2. The breakfast should be better for Intercontinental Hotel standard.

Stayed at this hotel several times and will keep on doing so. Great Hotel with nice and comfortable rooms and this time had a great view of the river. Concierge and Restarant staff should speak better English .WiFi should be better as well. But all in all I enjoyed it at this Hotel and

most basic thing.. I can't communicate with the staff and it is extremely annoying!! English level is not there and even though staff is friendly it makes experience very unpleasant. Will not stay here again. And Manager says nothing they can do. Also Food is 4 out 10. Poor menus, very Chinese oriented and quality of ingredients is poor. In room dining menu is very limited and 70% chinese, and worst of all you will spend 5 to 10 minutes explaining your order. Other things is ZERO flexibility and willingness to change on any aspect to please customer. They are trained by the book.. In summary very poor hotel...

Physically, this hotel is outstanding. Clean, beautiful, well-positioned, comfortable, relaxing. We, however, had shockingly bad service. Valets, Bellmen, Restaurant Staff seemed untrained and confused. We hard infuriating experiences in both the breakfast restaurant as well as the Chinese restaurant on the 3rd floor.

An absolutely outstanding hotel in every way. Everything in this hotel is excellent. Most specially the service from the concierge and bell boys is fantastic. Excellent breakfast, one of the best i have had in a hotel in China. Very clean room and bathroom and friendly staff. The only place i will be staying every time i am in Foshan. and i forgot, Loved the swimming pool, very relaxing after a long day.

My stay was comfortable and view from my room was awesome. Cannot fault the interaction I had with staff of the hotel. Did have some issues with dining at Cafe Aqua and my food allergies, even though I had made it clear upon ordering dinner each visit, on two out of the four occasions my meal was delayed as the instruction had not been carried out the first time. My instructions were written in Chinese and the staff understood and repeated my requirements to me. Whilst in both instances this was identified before I consumed the meals and staff were very apologetic and doing what they could to apease me, it did tarnish my dining at this restaurant.

Great hotel. Rooms are clean, comfortable and large. Great place to stay, especially for people from the US. Lots of English-speaking staff. Breakfast buffet has a good mix of local and Western food. I travel in Asia a lot and this is easily one of my favorites.

I have stayed at the Intercontinental Foshan twice now. It is a beautiful hotel with excellent service and would recommend to anyone. But, beware the true expense is in the restaurants. You can easily match your daily room rate in food costs each day..

For the money you are better off staying at the swissotel foshan

No hot water in my room at the time of my stay due to routine maintenance.

Mould in the tile cracks in my shower, which was surprising for such a newly built hotel.

Drain in the bath did not work.

Ordered a glass of wine, but the bottle had been open for 4 days as the waiter informed me.

The topper with this hotel was when they refused to give me the general managers name and email so that I could send a complaint letter.

I looked up the hotels enquiry email and sent 3 emails on separate days, never got a response.

I wouldnt go back, they just dont seem to care, which is surprising for an intercontinental.

숙소는 대단히 좋은 시설입니다.
다만 다소 1월의 추운날임에도, 히터로 선정하고30도를 설정했는데도 찬바람만 나왔어요.
나중엔 껏답니다.
3층중식당9시오픈에 맞춰 딤섬세트 식사주문했는데 요리나오는시간이 길고, 일부는 냉동을 해동한건지 질감이 좋지않았네요.

The overall performance of this hotel is above average for my opinion.
As world known 5 star luxury hotel I would expect they can do a lot better.
1. Didn’t get the room type as pre-requested.
2. The bed sheet is broken with hole and dirt marks on.
3. The bathtub didn’t work.
4. The water pressure is weak.
5. The air conditioning is weak.
