Slow food service but room comfortable

I only made use of the room at night. I did not have any meals at the hotel. I did attempt to order a toasted cheese sandwich and coffee at about 11:00 in the restaurant. The order was reluctantly received. I had to leave a e cancelled 10 minutes later because the preparation of the order had not yet commenced.
The last time my toasted cheese sandwich took nearly 2 hours to arrive.

Dreadful experience

Despite the best effort of the staff I personally had a horrible experience. On my second day whilst taking my morning shower raw began coming out of the shower head and subsequently filled the whole room with a pungent smell. Thanks to the manager I was moved from room 314 to 228. Apparently it's not the first time this has happened so it maybe a serious structural issue. The final straw in on leaving the elevator was not in working order. The response was \" Ah well\"!!!!

Good, well priced business hotel.

Always well located for business in and around the Midrand area. Only complaint is the same as that of previous stays: on weekends (in this case Friday and Saturday nights) guests arrive drunk at 1 or 2 am and make a huge noise in parking areas and passages outside rooms and the security does not seem interested in tackling this. All 3 rooms I booked for this job complained about the same thing.

A very pretty facility.The room was clean and comfortable.
But I could not sleep 3 out of 4 nights because the other guests on my floor were loud and disruptive most of the night and the staff would not make them be quiet.

We were there for a short business trip. The staff was very helpful and accommodating for the entire 3 nights. They allowed us to check in a little early which was great as we had early meetings on our arrival. It’s a great hotel to stay at, it’s near shopping mall, and gautrain station which was great for us.

Finally, a good hotel with comforts in Midrand.

Booked accommodation for one of our consulting technicians. He loved it and found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and the staff friendly. The transfer services to the airport helped us tremendously due to the late check-in.

Great for overnight stay

This hotel is a great place to stay if you only want a room for a night we were there on holiday and found the hotel had no bar no restaurant for an evening meal no Paul no garden to sit out and relax during the day there is an Irish bar next door where you can get a drink and something to eat and also a 15 minute walk to the Boulder shopping centre where they have everything you could ask for there the rooms are comfortable and air condition service great no complaints about hotel but would not stay there again unless I was on an overnight stay

Very close to the shopping

The Hotel staff are the main feature that make this hotel worth staying. The Room was clean and good condition but no complimentary water.... otherwise the room is very pleasant. I spent one day doing shopping and the Hotel Taxi was excellent for service and support.

Best Hotel in Midrand

Although heard that hotel is old, yet everything is find for this hotel. Just I'm only face the the laundry return not in time, but hotel done a great apologize. However i realize there are some missing on my clothes. Is my mistake that do not check properly when they return and only realize when get home. Please make sure the laundry service can be better.

Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. However, when phoning for assistance, on 2 occasions the phone was not answered. The TV was not working. I asked for a shower cap which was provided, but when I took it out of its box, it was torn and staff said it was the last one they had. The \"hot\" breakfast was cold on arrival at 07h30. I ordered dinner from O'Hagan's on site as there is no dinner venue, and it was served in take-away foam boxes. I therefore requested a plate and cutlery, which were brought by hand (not on a tray), the cutlery was unwrapped and no serviettes were provided.

Would avoid at all costs

This hotel associates itself with taxi company \"Interco holdings\". The taxi company drives you further away from your intended destination and then demands more money off you to take you to where you want to go (or in our case didn't even bother to offer), we were left stranded at a far out train station & missed our connecting train from j'burg station. Overall the whole ordeal cost us in excess of R1000 and caused huge stress. I Would strongly recommend anyone to avoid this hotel

The stay was average .. When booking I requested 2 types of beds for the 2 rooms and to have the rooms close to one another ..
None of the requests were met .. On arrival the hotel had no knowledge of our request .. It did not appear on the hotels system ..
This is poor management
The hotel is not located in the most affluent and safe areas of Johannesburg.

Value for money but you pay for what u get.

Courteous reception. More courteous when she saw I had a Platinum car for the hotel group. She was lovely. And let me book in early. But a nightmare followed. Terrible party sounds from across road and drunken brawl in room next door. Eventually I called reception to do something about next door. It slowly dissipated but my sleep was gone for the night.

Very relaxing. However, the refrigerator in the room requires some attention. The shower is excellent.
The personnel, very warm and friendly, whilst an element of reluctance was detected by some of them.

Cheap hotel in convenient location

We stayed in the hotel for one night, because we attended a wedding closeby. The hotel was clean and had safe parking. It is not really close to any major tourist attractions, but perfectly fineif you have to be in the area for a night or two. It was easy to access by car. The rooms were small but comfortable. Bathroom had a shower, toilet and basin. There was airconditioning. Checkin and checkout was fast, and the staff friendly.

My 2 nights spent at the Mercure Midrand was very enjoyable. The hotel is centrally situated, making seeing my client, going to gym and having supper a non-issue.

Service is friendly without encroaching on my space. Whatever my request was, was dealt with efficiently and professionally.I will definitely stay here again.

Your typical 2-star hotel

From the get-go, the hotel doesn't even have its own shuttle service and outsources it to a maniac driver who will risk your life in consecutive close-call car accidents during the just 2-block ride from Midrand Gautrain station (the only stars that this hotel receives are for its convenient location.) Upon arrival, he then had to audacity to demand R70 for the 50-second drive. The hotel itself has nothing to praise for. Subpar room mixed with a dirty bathroom where used soap bars from previous patrons littered the shower area. And if you stay for longer than one night, then don't expect your tubes of used shampoo and body wash to be replaced with fresh ones. The business center is a joke: a measly single desktop PC on the 2nd floor that isn't even connected to the internet. When I approached the front desk about the need to check-in my flights online, the 2 receptionists were completely useless, saying that I would have to pay for a data plan on the public computer. The only thing that saved my stay is the convenience of a strip mall just outside the gates, where you can get stellar pub food and Chinese take-out.

The hotel is in a good location in Midrand very near the convention center. The staff are helpful, but the internet would be better if it was unlimited, rather than 100 megabytes free and then you need to buy a plan.

Reasonable value for money if booked in advance; Check in service was not that welcoming but check out service was a bit better; breakfast rates are exorbitant at +- R 140 per person; Rooms are Ok but bathrooms in need of modernising; hotel is adequate for a business stay in the area.
