This was my fourth or fifth stay at Hotel DeCavalier. The staff is always great and speak English well. The staff is very accomidating and friendly. The hotel's breakfast is one of the best that I've seen. They offer local favorites and other traditional breakfast options. I would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

Nicely located comfortable and friendly. Condition of the hotel is a bit dated these days but the room was comfortable and quiet. There was no proper shower in the room only a jacuzzi bath (who uses those these days). Having a shower was difficult with a short lead shower hose.

Worst experience in a long time

This is a basic Italian hotel stuck in the 1970s with some fundamental failures, either in staff or procedures.

There were unnecessary confusion and complications checking in caused by the front desk being inconsistent over documentation.

None of the VIP access amenities were offered: no room upgrade despite a low occupancy, no late checkout (unless we wanted to pay …. So exactly the same as everyone else then), and we had to inquire about the bar discount (which was no more than a discount on the room mini-bar)

With no late checkout available, we chose to leave luggage, but were not offered any check. Asking for one we were told the luggage area was for any guest access, and the hotel took no responsibility. We elected to remove one of the items and the staff member shouted at us for taking the bag ourselves as “that was something the staff did”. On our return later in the day, asking for the one bag we left, we were told to get it ourselves. It felt they were mocking us!

Breakfast was basic, the shower was very dirty - hairs everywhere!

No return for us thank you.

Second time staying here. All OK but a little different to the first time. The water stopped working one morning (which I suspect was a hotel wide issue) but no updates provided by the hotel at all and a waiting game for it to come on. Not great when trying to get to meetings.

Additionally, the hotel has renovation work taking place and we were not told about this. It can make using the hotel facilities in the day for calls etc problematic especially when they offer business services.

Very convenient location, with a very nice neighborhood, with plenty of cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Front desk was staffed 24 hours and very helpful and customer service minded. Room was very nice and comfortable with good air conditioning :)

Breakfast not great but was ok …
Location really good , except for the begging from the piazza opposite … uncomfortable .
Located 5 mins from palace , well with a visit .
Parking is 12 E per day , safe , secure and underground keeping cool ..
Would stay again , would recommend . 👍

Quick stopover

A quick stopover in Caserta. The hotel is beautifully positioned and appears to be more of a corporate hotel. Very small room but bed linen and towels were five star. We were able to secure parking across the road but they provide paid parking close by. The Palace is very close and well worth a visit.

Recommended!

We have stayed several times at Hotel Dei Cavalieri and we keep coming back. Very friendly staff who remember you and always willing to help. The rooms are well appointed and always very clean. The restaurant is excellent with great pasta and wine list. The hotel is right in the centre of Caserta and everything is within walking distance including the Reggia de Caserta.

Check in was late, then when I asked y it was late, receptionist got angry.
So noisy in the hotel at around 2 am sounds like that’s when they rearrange their furniture or something and the laundry trollies in the early hours, 7am, sound like you are by a train station. No chance of good sleep in this hotel

Close to the Royal Palace and centrally located, it served our purposes for our stay in Caserta. A wonderful cafe on the corner and steps away from the palace gardens. Rooms were updated but amenities mediocre.

Will not return.

Tired hotel, which needs a makeover. Loudest old air conditioner in room. Restaurant not open for dinner as kitchen closed August. Could not even supply a bottle opener. Breakfast pretty ordinary. Could not recommend this hotel.

Clean, classy place! Confirm your booking before

Kind staff with nice, clean rooms. Not many amenities but the breakfast was a delicious spread! Just make sure to clarify if you want an extra bed because we had paid extra to book the triple room, but when we got there they told us they hadn't registered it because we were only two people.

4 nights in Caserta

The hotel was in the centre of Caserta and very near to the Palace and the old town. Car parking was easy and nearby for a small nightly charge.

The hotel staff were helpful and polite and the breakfast was a good mix of Italian pastries and the traditional breakfast. A fresh made coffee can be requested to the breakfast room staff.

The internet connection was fast and simple to connect to.

Our best stay in Italy

The best hotel we stayed in over 7 weeks in Italy. Reception staff, excellent, breakfast and staff, excellent, house staff, lovely, restaurant, very good. 25 euros for a 2 course dinner with a glass of decent wine. All staff were so hepful, cheery and nothing was too hard. Well done Dei Cavalieri!

Nice manager

Hey, the new manager tried very hard to make our one night's stay pleasant...it was my actual 60th birthday and that was why we were in Italy. We stopped over in Caserta because we had taken a train from Venice to Naples to pick up a car to continue on to Sorrento. Our dinner was kind of a bust (not the best food) but the new manager tried hard, I must say. We turned down our bed that night and discovered dirty sheets. Contacted the front desk who came up with clean sheets and her cellphone to photograph the sheets. Didn't remake our bed but just gave us the sheets to do it. Who does that????

Enjoy Caserta!

I stayed for three days in the heart of the city center. There was wonderful shopping, cafes, and restaurants in the immediate area. Providing you rented a car, there was much to explore in the distant area. The Palace of Caserta was minutes away.

Ideally located right next door to Caserta royal palace which is a must see
Also street cafes in the square right across from the hotel in the square
You would normally pay twice as much for half the hotel

Very nice. I stayed in August so got all the benefits of a hotel probably full all year with business travelers. Right on a splendid piazza, which is really a park. Right in the heart of downtown and old town, of which you will walk thru in only minutes to reach the La Seggia. Also comfortably walking distance for most from the train station. Room big (for Europe) clean with good bath facilities. Great breakfast.

Really nice, convenient hotel

This really was a nice stay. In a good part of town across from a well trafficked park. Room was nice (Jr. Suite), bed comfortable, newer hotel. Easy walk to the palace. Plenty of evening restaurants around. Staff were great, breakfast was good in morning, mostly carbs, but a selection of cheeses and meats too. Parking is offsite, at first appearance seemed a little dodgy, but there is only one way into the area garage and it's secluded and in the back. No evidence of any breakins, clean and well lit.

Disappointed.

We did not find out the restaurant at the hotel was closed until we checked in! No apologies to speak of. Sure, restaurants were within walking distance however, at the end of a long day it's preferable to have a place to eat where you're staying. There was no elevator service one evening when we got back from dinner. Looks as though rooms are being redone however, there was nowhere to put your luggage if you had more than one bag, no dresser, just a closet. I wound up using an end table as a stand for my suitcase.

Great location to explore the Reggia in Caserta.

This hotel is located at an excellent location to visit the palace. For us, it was also within walking distance to family. It is located on the Vanvitelli Square which is a beautiful little park. Parking is available for 10 Euro per day but is not located at the hotel. You must park 3/4 around the square, but it was really no big deal. Only thing I would recommend is to have at least one English speaking news channel available AND a comfortable chair to sit in. The wireless was sporadic at best in the room, but available in the lobby. The price was great and breakfast was part of the cost of the room. I will definitely stay here when we are in Caserta.

Initally we had a problem with the reservation. We met our Daughter in Rome, my neice and a friend. They traveled with us. I had a family room for 3. The hotel had a problem with her not being 1-10 yrs or age. When we got there we added a third person to my other room...no problem. But because they called this a \"family room\" my child had to be small. So, to prevent this in the future, I would just add an adult when I'd get there. Otherwise, it was great and very clean with modern decor and ammenities. The restaurant was small but great in the morning before we went sightseeing. A little off the interstate (crazy streets)...but, we soon got use to the area. Parking was a little wild. The lots are short and we had a van...scraped the top of the van! Thank goodness we bought the insurance on the vehicle!!! I definately ADVISE THIS! The staff was very accomodating to us and tried their best to speak English. Alberto was great! They did better at English than we did at Italian. If I was going back to Naples, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Sorento, Salerno, Positano, and Pompei I would definately stay their again. There was a total of 8 in our party. We stayed there 4-21 / 4-25, 2013.

I will absolutely return!

I picked this hotel based on what I could see on the internet. I also asked my relatives who live in the area if they thought this would be a nice place to stay. I was pleasantly surprised by everything. I didn't know we were getting breakfast in the morning which was such a plus! This hotel was modern, with wifi which was big for my family of five. They put us in rooms next door to one another. If we needed something, someone was there to answer our question immediately. The biggest thing was it was CLEAN! We had daily maid service and she does her job very well. I will definitely return to this hotel. I hope to go back in September!

Very nice clean hotel, great staff, great location

I spent a week in Caserta this month and really enjoyed Hotel dei Cavallieri. The location was excellent. Unlike a few of the other surrounding hotels, you can step out of Hotel dei Cavallieri and the Vanvitelli Piazza is 10 feet away, followed by several streets to shop. The palace and train station are walking distance. Staff is incredibly helpful and goes above and beyond to accomodate. Breakfast was very good, wait staff was very professional. Room was spotless and consistenly clean, nice televison. Bed was very stiff and uncomfortable, but it was clean. Do be aware of the cab drivers and their fees. When I arrived at the Caserta station from Rome, I got a cab to the hotel because of the long journey and luggage. The driver charged 15 euro for the ride from the station to hotel! It's an 8 minute walk-maybe 2 kilometers away. Was also charged 30 euro for a cab ride to a town 7 kilometers away. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but maybe requesting the meter to be run instead of a flat rate is a better choice.

The hotel have the potential to be in the future a very good place to stay, at the present the only 5 stars are the employees, in special Mrs. Laura at the breakfast section for the magic hands in a very difficult kitchen( small and inoperative for the quantities of guest) and Mrs. Vanna and the night service for the friendly actitude. With all the experience I have in hotels I will suggest to the board of directors a more atention to the systems like TV, dinning area and lighting system and a more friendly actitud with the employees, just becouse are the best in your organization and dont let the passengers feel the abroupt and insane actitude with them!

Great location

Hotel was in great location, room overlooked the beach. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and suggested a few restaurants with local cuisine. Condition on the outside of the hotel is deceiving, needs some work, however inside hotel is very nice.

Very nice hotel

Situated right in front of a nice piazza. Walking distance to the center of caserta and the train station. Hotel was clean and comfortable, but air conditionning did not seem to work well. Lucky for us, we had our first cool night, so I let the door a bit open the let the fresh cool air get in, but beware of mosquitoes that could come in the room if you don't close the blinds.

Breakfast could have a bit more choices, but it is more less the same everywhere.

Tips: If you don't want to stay in Napoli, but still want to visit it, Caserta is a good place to stay. By train, it takes 40 to 58 minutes.

good stop on way down south from Rome to Puglia

Happy with the price, location, breakfast, room comfort, helpfulness of staff...disppointment that the day we were there on Tuesday, the royal palace was closed! Parkingwas extra at 10EUR and you had to drive round the corner but it was possible to unload luggage in front of the hotel.

I did not understand why the shower was the way it was...tiny cubicle with a huge rain shower head!! Well, one can't have it all when it's a bargain

breakfast included the most delicious cakes...hope you are lucky to enjoy them if you decide to stay there. Good caffe too!

Close to Caserta Palace

It is about 2 blocks from the hotel to the entrance for the palace at Caserta, but it is not a difficult walk. We enjoyed seeing the palace and grounds. Our room was pleasant and compact, rather like a cabin on a cruise ship. We had enough room for our things for the two nights we stayed. They offered a nice continental style breakfast along with the room which included fresh baked goods. Parking was at a ramp about a block away, but you could unload your car at the front door.
