I spent the final night of a 12-night trip to Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, located in the Historic Center with a fantastic view of the Zocalo from the rooftop restaurant. The room was very comfortable, the staff was excellent, and the food, including the buffet breakfast, was good. I recommend a stay here.

Beautiful and historical hotel right on the main square (Zocalo). The room was very large and comfortable for 2 friends. The rooftop bar/restaurant looks over the main square, including the Cathedral, and it was amazing. I highly recomend and would stay here again!

The building, room, location, service from everyone we met, rooftop restaurant and views and ... well... everything, the Gran Hotel exceeded our expectiations. From the coffee and treats in the special access room in the morning (and throughout the day), to our comfortable bed at the end of a long day of exporation, we loved our Mexico City home at the Gran and would go back in a heartbeat.

Our suite was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Mexico City can be a bit overwhelming but Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico was a perfect refuge. The restaurant was terrific, both for food and for the incredible view overlooking the Zocalo. There was also a lovely lounge for residents of the hotel only.

I will openly admit I chose this hotel purely based on its location, and for the fact that it was in James Bond’s Spectre. It was my first time in Mexico City so I wanted a hotel that was in the historical centre. I literally cannot say enough about the hotel. The room was beautiful (I had a junior suite) overlooking the Zocalo—clean, comfy bed, nice bath amenities, etc. The hotel itself is an icon from another era, with one of four of the largest glass ceilings in the world—absolutely stunning. The rooftop restaurant has spectacular views and a lovely buffet breakfast.

However, the most memorable part? The staff. Right from the moment I walked in, I had never felt so at home. Adrian checked me in and was so helpful in booking a tour and offering any help to make my stay the best. Mario, Miguel, and Alejandro were always at the front door ensuring I had my rides in the old elevator (it’s beautiful), and Miguel even walked me 10 minutes to my taxi pick up one morning when the streets were blocked off. It was truly a pleasure to have stayed at this icon of a hotel in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Only complaint was the temperature regulation of the rooms. At night the A/C wasn’t too powerful. Hot to sleep, we asked to have it checked. Was the same the following night. They did check it for their defence.

Bunch had a great selection.

The Gran Hotel is absolutely gorgeous and there is no better view from the Rooftop Restaurant. Yeal and Emmanuel helped us immensely during our stay and even with catching an Uber to go back to the airport. It is in a great location to Constitution Plaza, we even got to see the President of Mexico and the Military parade. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Will stay there again.

The hotel was wonderful. It is well located in the historic district - the hotel itself is an architectural gem. It is well maintained; and the staff was very accommodating.
Our large 4th floor suite was very impressive.
Because the hotel is located on a pedestrian only street, our taxi could not deliver us to the entrance door- it would have nice to know this fact prior to our arrival.. We arrived VERY late at night; and found it a little difficult to locate the entrance doors to the hotel. The entrance needs to be better lite and have lighted street level signage for the overnight hours when there is no doorman. That being said, we would most definitely recommend this hotel; and will book it again when we return to Mexico City.

I had to add an extra night to my reservation because my flight got changed so I added a night the next day I switch to my initial reservation and I realized that I had left my sonicare toothbrush. I asked the front and they said nobody ever returned it. It was a $200 toothbrush .

Don’t forget to ask about the VIP lounge that’s open to all, for your free drinks and snacks. . Only downfall , you can hear the music from the street and you’ll be up early with the noise.

United Airlines messed up and forgot our luggage so coming to a hotel right next to the center, with all the basic toiletries in our room, and great manners from all staff upon arrival was a wonderful experience.

Everyone was extremely helpful and can’t really imagine staying anywhere else next time I go to Mexico City.

Stunning hotel!

We loved our stay at this hotel, it's a beautiful building with stunning views of the Zocalo from the hotel restaurant. The room was very spacious and comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was really nice with lots of variety.
I highly recommend staying at this hotel!

Gorgeous art deco hotel in the center of the Historic Center of CDMX. This is my third time staying here, and it is a beautiful, perfectly manicured and kept property with very attentive staff. Although we did not receive any VIP perks as we usually do, my only complaints are the restaurant is extravagantly priced for very mediocre food (although the view is stunning) and due to pedestrian restrictions cabs/Ubers cannot drive up to the front of the hotel anymore, meaning you have to drag your bags a block or so to the hotel entrance. The hotel is an iconic gem in the heart of Mexico City at the Zocalo. It was a treat to be able to enjoy the beauty of this hotel in the heart of the city. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel's age and the location come with some downsides - the main entrance of the hotel is within a pedestrian zone making access for cars and taxis confusing. The hallway outside our room had a distinctive odor of mold despite being very clean - the room and bathroom were immaculate.
