Nice hotel within walking distance from Assisi center. The room was cold and tried to put heating on did’t work, i went to reception and then they said they’ll turn on electric heater, but not much difference it did’t really warm much, was making fore AC. Room was nice and clean. Unfortunately, breakfast was disappointing too, not much variety and limited options, was expecting something better considering they have also a fine dining restaurant.

An interesting former palace with spectacular views over the Umbrian countryside. The hotel was perfectly located on one of the main historic roads yet was quiet. Very easy walkable access to all major sites. The buffet breakfast was excellent with fresh honeycomb, delicious cheeses, fresh fruit and cake and the usual hot options.We highly recommend and would stay again.

Ideal location, halfway between Basilica San Franceso and Chiesa Santa Chiara. Everything in Assisi was within short walking distance. Crucially, the hotel had 10 parking spots directly in front, which allows entrance into the ZTL (otherwise forbidden). Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Booked the \"family room,\" which was huge and had a great view. Great value.

Photos are much nicer than the actual rooms which are tiny… bathroom extremely tiny.
The outdoor terrace was only accessible for restaurant so breakfast was indoor a room with absolutely no view!
Our bedroom window gave on the outdoor smoking area! Not nice when you are a non smoker.
And the lady at front desk on our arrival…. Not welcoming. So i would not recommend.

Beautiful position, very comfortable bed and view from Junior Suite on top floor was breathtaking.
Staff were a bit nonchalant although bartender was attentive. Breakfast needs to be improved. Croissants ran out, cutlery too and coffee/ tea machine never really worked smoothly.

This hotel is excelent, ver good rooms and good services in the hotel. The problem is that in Assisi all the hotels are far from the Train station. I sent a mésage to the hotel asking for a pick up servicié with payment and I never received answer. I arrive to Assisi at night and is difficult to get taxi.

We got lucky and parked immediately outside the hotel.
The bedroom was lovely, comfortable with great views over the church and the countryside beyond.
The outdoor bar area in the garden was dirty with litter and discarded cigarettes lying in the grass. There were 3 staff none of whom cared enough to tidy this up. Unsurprisingly the bar had very few customers.
The breakfast area is horrible. Feels like it’s been managed by an external company. Food average.

Wonderful stay at Fontebella.

The location was magnificent. Our room overlooked the valley and the view was spectacular.
The breakfast provided was the best we had in all our hotel stays.

The hotel is very centrally located in the 'Centro Storico'. We had a lovely room with a beautiful view of the countryside. Bathroom on the small side but we had all the facilities. We were able to park our car just outside the hotel on the first night and in a car park close by the second night. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was included.

The staff was awesome. Alberto was real knowledgeable and attentive during our wine and oil tasting. The room view was amazing. The parking was perfect. There were a few challenges though. When we first checked in, the sign at the front desk stated wine and oil tasting for 15euro a piece. We asked about it, and the person at the desk said yes, wine and oil tasting for 15 euro a piece was available. We booked it, had a good time, and when we checked out, they charged us 10 euros more stating it was wine OR oil tasting for 15 euro a piece. But the oil tasting was one tasting of oil and one breadstick make with oil. I think they were wrong in doing this. The sign clearly stated AND, not OR. Another issue was the air conditioning could only be controlled by the front desk. During our three day stay I had to call down five times to have them keep the air on. It was very off putting. We lived in Italy for 3 years, and never ran across this. Lastly, the room had an electrical box on the walll direclty above our bed. At night, the green light indicating the electrical box was working was like a green flash light going across the room. there was no way to turn it off. very challenging to get to sleep with the light on.

Extremely disappointed. If this is a four-star hotel, I would hate to see a three as a matter of fact I’ve stayed in threes that should be four or five. Sterile room no warmth, no tissue no sanitary bags and tiny. He gave you the feeling you were now a Franciscan monk Living a limited lifestyle. The only thing good about the hotel was the lady in the breakfast room who was exceptional. She tried harder than anyone we have met to make our stay good. I would not recommend this property to anyone especially if you’re a VIP.

Very disappointing.
They have airconditioning, but you have no control of it. The hotel adminstration turn it between 7:30 - 10:30 AM then they turn it off and then turn it back on between 7:30 - 10:30 PM. Even with this, you had to call the front desk when you're in your room to ask to turn it on.
Bathroom was a decent size, but very little lighting. Very hard to shve and my wife could not see to put on make up.
The shower head was only at a hieght of 5 feet. Luckly it was a hand shower or else I would have had to get on my knees

This is not a 4* hotel. I've never left a review, as I tend to get it right with my picks. I've travelled extensively, staying in hostels to 5* hotels, but..1)Not able to control our AC; controls were there, but the buttons were removed. Our key, once in its slot, turned the lights & AC on, but the AC quickly turned itself off after a few mins. Had to ring reception several times to turn it on. Told it was off to give the AC a \" break\". Call it what you want; we didn't pay to stay in a sweat box. Couldn't move in the room w/o sweating. After a while, the AC would again be turned off.2)Shower head held up by tape, which didn't stay up & became a tap.3)Various outlets in the room weren't working.4)Breakfast was a poor standard, for a food region such as this expected a greater selection of cheeses, hams, & olives (none available). The fruit was not fresh, & the drinking water warm.5)Asked to come at a set time for breakfast due to COVID - no issue with this, but then I would have preferred not to have seen the waitress place the cheese slices by hand (no fork or gloves) on to the serving plate.6)Informed on check out that we had to pay for the water in our room, no sign indicating this beforehand - I've no problem paying for water if I'm aware I'm \"purchasing\" it. Found this very underhanded.7)As a gold member, I was due a complimentary drink on arrival, but nothing was offered.Details matter & to call yourself a 4* hotel, I expected quality, which is severely lacking here.

The Palace Fontebella is a gem

We stayed here overnight. A very welcoming reception. They had a bar and nice, comfortable living room settings to enjoy your drinks.

The bed was very, very comfortavble, quality pillows and bedding. The room had a large wardrobe, desk, 2 end tables, 2 chairs and small table. The view from the room over the valley was incredible.
The bath had a large tub, and enough counter space for items.
There is a Michelin restaurant in hotel, but we were too exhasted to eat. The included breakfast was delicious. Best croissants we have ever eaten.
The people who wotrked there are very friendly and helpful.

The stay was amazing! We had the suite of the first floor, it had a double decker rooms and a FANTASTIC VIEW. Couldn't get enough of the valley view. The folks at the front desk were very nice and helpful and parking was onsite and very easy. Everything was really nice and easy and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!

The location of this hotel is perfect walkable distance to the hallmarks of Assisi.
The customer service unfortunately offered a horrific experience. A lady who goes by name Tiziana totally lack of manners. While my checking out, she attempted to charge for a lunch I had already paid previously, I had to show her my bank statement from my American Bank application option for her to believe me, how she handled the situation was a true pain and such unprofessional experience that it left a horrific bad taste as I was leaving Assisi. Later I called back to get her name, and Giuseppe tried to cover for her and hang up on me while I tried to ask who is running this hotel, as clearly there is room for improvement. First she told me that Elena manages this hotel, later said Manuela, when I asked for their phone number he rudely said Manuela was in Milan and refused to give me any contact information to talk to her.
My advise is for you to stay in the hotel next door Ghiotto. This hotel needs some serious organizing with the clients accounts. Always keep your receipts until you leave because they will try really hard to double or triple charge you. And there is not one to talk to about it. Just don’t stay here!

You have to take a taxi from the train station to the hotel 20 euro. The buses don’t run regularly. It is too far to the village to walk. The hotel is in a perfect location, but be prepared to do a lot of walking up hills and stairs to see all of the village. The staff were very friendly and check in was easy. Our room was small and it had stairs in one corner that you had to climb if you wanted to open the window. Our room was on the street side. If you get a room facing the back of the hotel, you get a breath taking, magnificent view. Our bed was uncomfortable. It really needs a thick mattress protector or a memory foam topper. The small bath tub and shower was very awkward to get in and out. The room has a small refrigerator. It was very clean. The breakfast was just a continental type with not much variety. There is a lovely comfortable seating area in the foyer.

The hotel is conveniently located in the lower part of town in between Basilica St Franccis and Piazza del Comune, both within 5 min walking distance. It is a few 100 metees from the major city entrance John Paul 2 parking, again within walking distance but also reachable by car with parking in front, but best call the hotel upfront to reserve and waive traffic limitation system. Very nice convenient hotel with modern feel and look, very nice rooms.
