Room was generally clean, but mugs were changed on one of the days. There was a very strong smell of smoke on the last night of stay, when we had to get up 4:30 to catch a flight, it was disturbing…but I understood if other hotel guests choose to smoke in a non smoke room, the hotel has limited things to do at the time.

We stayed 3 days here. The location was so convenient- it’s in the center of the city. The front desk lady Bess was wonderful. She went out her way to help me.
Match may be the best season to visit Nanjing. Flowers are blossoming through the city. Food was so fresh and good. We had a wonderful time in Nanjing.

Poor service and cheap hotel

Terrible experience, the room is over 30C in early April!! The hotel staff lied that the whole building's airconditioning does not working, ignored that the cooling system works well in restaurants, lobby, and even the hallway outside the room. They just shut the airconditioning to save money, and lied to their customers. I don't know how they manage to operate the business, it is just not a 5 star hotel.

Great Hotel and Location - Let down by room temp

The location and amenities at this hotel were fantastic. It’s central with great views of the lake and an excellent breakfast fare at the buffet. However we did have some issues to the response we had to the fridge and room temperature.

It was unseasonably warm when we visited. Usually during this time it’s 18-22 degrees Celsius but it was 35 degrees this day. We had travelled into Nanjing from Huangshan where it was also 33 degrees. The room when we arrived had the heating set to 29 degrees and the windows were left open. The internal temperature of the room was 32. We tried changing the room temp but the thermostat didn’t change the temperature whatsoever. We spoke to the hotel staff and they advised the the floors are set to a temp and we couldn’t change it and to open the windows which were already open.

When we arrived the fridge was not on so we turned it on and changed it to the coolest setting. I travel with medication that requires it to be stored below 4 degrees which hasn’t been a problem this trip as every hotel has had refrigeration. When we called the hotel staff they advised that this was as cold as the fridge would get. They promptly provided ice.

Unfortunately due to this the stay itself was not comfortable as the room only dipped under 30 degrees after 9pm. When a storm came through and kept us awake.

As mentioned the hotel is great for everything else. Maybe we had an off stay as all other intercontinental experiences have been amazing.

Had some payment issue at check in. Problem cleared in about 10 minutes. Reception gave me a free breakfast because of this problem. The hotel is the tallest building in Nanjing. Subway line 1 and 4 is right outside of the hotel. Big room size! Friendly staffs.

I live in Nanjing and wanted to treat myself to one night in my city's tallest building. The staff were generous and welcoming. The location and views are obviously amazing. The bed was dreamy and the shower was powerful. The only possible complaint would be out of date decor that is not only dated but starting to show stains and damage.

Luxurious hotel in a great location

We really enjoyed our stay here - the room was on the 67th floor with fantastic views of the city. Breakfast was extensive and high quality, and the lake and Ming Walls were very close, as was the subway. A couple of areas for improvement would be the bars, which weren't amazing, and the temperature of the room. We were only there in April, and it was already too hot at times for the AC to cope - wouldn't fancy being there in the height of summer!

From the moment we arrived, Iris, the fantastic receptionist, made us feel very much at home and took care of everything we needed. Concierge were also extremely helpful in helping us to book cars throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was fantastic and the service was impeccable. We were staying to celebrate a birthday as well as lunar new year. We will definitely come back.

Must Stay Hotel in Nanjing

InterContinental is an amazing stay in Nanjing! The view of the city is absolutely breathtaking (especially from the 45th-floor balcony and 78th-floor bar). My room was spotless, spacious, and exceeded my expectations. All of the hotel staff was friendly and if I had any problems, there was always somebody to help. The breakfast buffet is a great way to start the day. Any food you want, whether Western or Chinese can both be found in the hotel. Would stay again, 5/5.

The air conditioner was not working property and the room was hot and stuffy. My initial request to the reception to look into the problem was not attended to, and only upon pressing at the reception, the management finally revealed that they were in the process of upgrading the system and my problem could not be dealt with until the day I checked out. They then changed me to another room, asked me to open windows, and hopefully with the room facing east, the room would be cooler. With windows opened, there then came the traffic noise! If he hotel had problem with the air-conditioning, they should have led the customers know in the first place and not try to hide it!
The breakfast should have been excellent with a great variety of delicious food. Unfortunately my wife found a long hair in the salad she was about to finish. She took a photo and intended to complain. I asked her to forget it and keep the photo as a souvenir from a 5-star hotel.

This is a fabulous hotel, so enjoyable you almost won’t want to leave to explore the city. Impeccable service, very comfortable room, excellent amenities. The staff speak very good English so it is an easy choice for international visitors. It’s well located for exploring Nanjing, which is a very interesting and pleasant city.

The hotel is located centrally and close to the NJ University, the Xuanwu Lake, and the Rooster Temple, as well as on subway line #1. The front desk staff was excellent, very patient and helpful. I got upgraded to a room with a wall of windows, and my parents got upgraded to a suite that was quite luxurious. Breakfast had a great variety of both Chinese and western food. My only complaint is about food/drinks service in certain parts of the hotel. The 76th floor restaurant and the 45th floor bar both had terribly sluggish and impolite service. It took forever for all the dishes for our lunch to come and we had to cancel one dish which wouldn't come after we were done eating. It took forever for the barista on the 45th floor to bring the beers to us. The service staff should receive some training in efficiency. At breakfast, the staff couldn't make a latte properly and it was always lukewarm.

Stayed in one of the club rooms - enjoyed dinner and breakfast every day in the club lounge. The staff were all very nice and anxious to please. The staff in the Summit Restaurant helped us arrange a last-minute luncheon for several of our local friends/colleagues, and it was just perfect!

The room was fine. The staff at the front desk seemed out of the loop however, all other staff was wonderful. All in all a rather nice stay. Ordered an early breakfast as my flight left before breakfast was served. I asked for coffee with the breakfast, none to be found and actually took more then a few attempts to make clear to the front desk staff that I had placed the order. In short there seemed to be a real disconnect between staff. Check in took a bit more time and effort then seemed necessary but at least they were rather pleasant about it. Check out seemed arduous as well.
Still as I said before overall a good stay.

There were multiple problems that I left a list of 9 different things wrong with the stay. No internet. I had to demand someone come fix the internet. Bathtub didn't work. HVAC unit didn't work. Etc., Etc., Etc.. I will never stay there again. Serious communication gap between front desk and any technician or other personnel needed to resolve the situations.

The best in Nanjing!

The hotel is prominent on the cities landscape and offers a luxurious stay. The room layouts are original but occasionally not practical. We had a great round tub but it was located awkwardly in the middle of the room. The toilet was not a very private stall. The staff was very helpful. For where you are it was a great stay with the best views in Nanjing.

There was one instance of when i went into the bathroom that there was urine and human waste on the floor, but i guess the cleanliness of others when an issue has just occurred cannot be blamed on the hotel staff. I went back to the same bathroom later that afternoon and it was cleaned up.

An oasis in Nanjing

Beautiful hotel in a great location in Nanjing. I stayed there over a weekend in between reservations at the typical Chinese business hotels, so this was a pleasant experience. Great amenities, food more expensive than local restaurants but perfect options if you're traveling alone and don't speak Chinese. Service is different from what you might be used to in the US, but everyone is very friendly and helpful. Also, perfect location to many tourist attractions.

2 nights in June. This is probably the nicest hotel I have ever been in. Go to the restaurant on the 47th floor for excellent food. There is a subway stop about 1 minute away so this is also very convenient.

It's almost a 5-star hotel with a 4-star price. We got the pool to ourselves most of the time. It's a 3 lanes, 25 meter pool. Hotel room is huge and spacious with a 45 inch TV, with many channels to watch different shows. Hotel is next to subway station that can pretty much take you anywhere in town. Will definitely stay here again next time to Nanjing!

With so many 5-star hotels around town, service is what makes this hotel stand out. In true new money glamour the rooms were modern, luxurious, comfortable, the selection at breakfast was enormous, great location right next to the Gulou metro station; but the service was what truly impressed. We checked in late coz of flight delays but there was still a queue at midnight, and they \"compensated\" us with a free upgrade and chocolates. The late night snacks and extra bedding were all served up with a smile. Staff at breakfast attended to guests promptly, and by the time we were done with breakfast they often had a taxi waiting for us downstairs already (that's a feat in China!). Don't think I could fault them at all...

Wonderful hotel

This is a wonderful hotel located right on the metro. We have stayed here twice now (once in the summer and, once again, just last week for New Year). We also intend to stay again in the future.
Breakfast is good, if not a little chaotic; in-room dining is excellent; the rooms are very nicely appointed, large and relatively quiet; lovely staff; and great views when the pollution is low.
One minor point regarding our most recent stay in the winter - when the hotel had its heating system on the room was incredibly warm. We changed the air conditioning system from heating to cooling on arrival, setting the temperature at 19 C. It never dropped below 25 C during our 4-night stay, making it difficult to sleep. However, having travelled throughout China in hotels of a similar class, this seems to be the norm.
