It’s old hotel but if they look after I am sure will much better appearances. What they need just cosmetic make over. I used to like stay here since I was young. They used to look so nice. Longtime ago every time I stayed there the bed beautifully covered with green pretty bed cover. Now just plain. The cover lots stains. Thoughts the bed and pillows still comfortable! The furnitures look old. The foods bit boring! But excellent friendly staffs! Also trustworthy and honest! I lost my gold earrings, the cleaners found it and she put on the wooden tray mini bar in the bedroom. Overall still comfy hotel just look so old. One more things! They need new coffee machines for breakfast restaurant !!!

A pleasant stay!

Had a wonderful stay at Mercure Jakarta Kota. I must say, the front office staff went out of their way to take care of my requirements and even ordered some IKEA products I wanted to carry back. Special thanks to Rika & Hafist Subchan for their excellent customer service. The staff across were nice and courteous and always helpful - house keeping, restaurant, room service, support staff and front office. The rooms were spacious and nice, and of course the breakfast buffet too! Was a pleasant stay and would love to come back again.

The room was outdated but nice. Really big and quiet. Breakfast buffet was good. The area is in the midst of what looks like a transformation. A lot of buildings are boarded up, and it looks like a subway is being dug on the main road. Explains the reasonable price for what really is a good hotel.

You won't regret staying in Mercure.

Had our stay for more than 2 weeks there during my Jakarta trip meeting my family in town. We had great stay in Mercure. The service was excellent, all staffs are friendly. House keeping team did fantastic job helping in cleaning our room. Overall, it is recommended staying in Mercure and you won't regret it. Excellent !!

Location is good for night tourism, but the hotel is quite old, can be seen from room furniture, sanitary, etc. Also they only have 1 access which regulated by odd-even traffic policy.
Friendly staff, only they cannot give any late check-out.
Stay in the non-smoking level but still can smell the cigarette smoke on corridor or other places.

The hotel was close to the old town which i wanted to explore. It was easy to walk to this older dutch influenced part of Kota district, with its square of museums and cafe Batavia. Hotel staff were friendly with an excellent concierge/greeter who fixed several issues (not of the hotel's making for me, including sending postcards, which no one seems to send these days, so others were a bit lost when I asked them for stamps). Quite a nice restaurant area with good choice buffet or ala carte menu. Bottles of Bintang were a little slow in coming but welcome when they did. Nice small swimming pool. Some re tiling was taking place but looks good. Spa not used but looked a bit pricey, but might have been worth it if authentic Indonesia treatments. Opposite is the Dutch bakery or Dunkin Donuts. Plenty of places to eat and two medium malls opposite over the busy street. If you want full 5 star in the middle of the business district maybe go to Jalan Tamarind (about 20 mins by taxi from Kota, when the traffic not too heavy) however this is a clean friendly hotel, with a bigger brother hotel 300 meters down the road ( I did not visit this one). If booking by Expedia, you cannot claim hotel points.

Poor location, with rooms in serious need of renovation; below average service. No hot water one night; room was dirty; missing towels; hotel had bad smell throughout; terrible check in experience. Hotel cafe was out of or incapable of serving than 50% of items on menu. Overall there is nothing to recommend about this hotel, which seems very poorly managed. A much better choice is probably available for a slightly higher cost.

Our stay was pleasant and comfortable. The surrounding area is safe and there are quite a few amenities like malls with eateries and supermarts. The hotel is within reach of many local sights. Trans-Jakarta bus stop is opposite the hotel and hailing a taxi is easy. The hotel is also within a taxi drive of about 20 minutes from Sudirman Baru train station to Bandara. The hotel would be wise to inform guests wanting to take the train that the ticket machines do not accept cash. Foreigners will need to use their credit cards or if they have a local bus link card.

The check in took too long.They said they did not know i booked through hotels.com and Hotels.com haven’t paid them.I made the booking in June to go there in January.I wasn’t the only ine with the problem.There was two more people from Japan that had the same issue.The recepcionist was not nice either.
Finally went into the room and The toilet flush was broken too.Overall not a good experience and will not be back again.

Great value, large room, clean and secure. Decent quality gym too.
The area is very busy lots of cafes, malls and restaurants.
And if what you want is not on your doorstep just hail a cheap taxi or better still get the rapid bus which has a stop right outside the hotel.
Didn't try the hotels foods so can't comment.

My family insist to get non smooking room, and with the manager help we got the rooms but after their repair it first.

For Asia, Mercure (Kota) is a decent hotel. Good location. Bluebird taxis available right outside. Restaurant in hotel with food available 24 hours. Fridge in room. Coffee in room. 2 bottles of water everyday. Clean sheets and clean towels. Very comfortable bed.
The carpets in the rooms could use a cleaning. But this hotel is much better than some of the other hotels I have seen. Very courteous staff

Old room, cheap curtains let most of the outside light in so don't expect to get any quality sleep during day, no face towels in bathroom, room smells bad, room service takes an hour to deliver and comes in without forks and spoons . One person in reception was handling about 10 people at time it took me 40 mins to check in .
Terrible hotel for the price paid , not recommended at all .

Nice hotel in a good location.

The hotel is located in a vibrant area, close to the old Kota possibly the most interesting district of Jakarta. There are many good eating places nearby. The hotel is also next to the Transjakarta busway stop Olimo on line 1 making travelling around Jakarta relatively easy and fast.
The deluxe executive room was very spacious, bright, clean and nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. The daily service was excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

i picked the hotel for my recent business trip to Jakarta from Expedia due to its price range, however, it turns out to be a surprise to me. my experience staying there is indeed a very positive one.

Staff there are very friendly, warm and professional (reception, restaurant, call centre, etc)
room is clean, tidy with good house keeping
TV programs are rich with choices
easy to take a cab as there are always 2-3 standby in the hotel for you.

I booked a room for three days, December 27, 28, and 29, 2014, knowing that I would be arriving in Jakarta on the morning of December 28 after a long trip overnight. I was willing to pay extra for the night of December 27, because I knew I would be tired, and I wanted to get a room right away when I arrive in Jakarta. I even called the hotel in advanced, to let them know that even though I had booked the room for December 27, I would really be arriving in the morning of December 28, and I want the room ready for me. The lady answering the phone said that it would be fine.

I arrived on the morning of December 28, only to be told that there was no room ready for me and I had to wait. I was not pleased at all. After all, I had paid the night of December 27, and the hotel still did not have a room ready for me. It took some time to argue and to wait until finally I got my room.

The room condition was ok, but I left the hotel with some itch on my arms and legs. I suspect there were bed bugs but I could not confirm.

Just like the rest of Kota - great building allowed to be run down into the ground. I'm sure this once was a fantastic place, but now after say 20 years of not doing anything to maintain the place - it looks like a dump once you get past the lobby. Even at the pool the guy gave me a towel with black stains on it, like he's just cleaned his motorbike chain with it.

Good functional hotel with nearby facilities

Location is great in China town area where you can get lots of food nearby (walking distance). Rooms are a bit old but big and clean. Shower/Washroom is also big with good water pressure. May not be a high end hotel but for my travel needs, this hotel meets everything that I want. Food is pretty decent in the cafe for breakfast, have not tried the others like the chinese restaurant.

We stayed two nights in this hotel in Feb '14. After going to the wrong hotel in the cab (The grand mercure) we arrived at the Mercure Jakarta Kota. The rooms were nice enough and all the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately it is right next to a construction site so there was a lot of noise. There is a nice pool and spa though no one else seemed to use it. Its right across the road from TransJakarta busway which is the cheapest and easiest way to get around while avoiding the traffic. We found out that breakfast was not included and that this is something you have to pay for up front. For what you pay the hotel is decent but average… nothing special - there are better

Had to do a bit of waiting during check-in when the receptionist highlighted that our booking was not registered in their system. Luckily we had a printed copy of the online-booking made from [this website].
Otherwise, the service rendered was excellent. The hotel's location made it very convenient to go anywhere in Jakarta via taxi or even the public buses - with the Busway station just across the road.
HIghly recommended.
