Large car park, easy parking. Nice outdoor pool. Good room and very quiet. Breakfast was served early and was excellent. The dinner buffet was also excellent.

Our only complaint was that the room was not ready when we checked in at 2.30pm as the windows were being cleaned.

The area felt safe and the seafront was only a 20 min walk away. Lots of supermarket options nearby. Airport only 10 mins drive away, Perfect!

Overnight from boat to plane

Very close to port and airport, clean and clinical hotel made more for business than long stay. Incredibly clean, aircon is great has a decent sized pool and a fitness area.
If you want to go out for food it’s a bit Ltd, the restaurant in hotel is classy but lacks honest rubbish food.

We reserved a suite with full living room and kitchenette. We could not use the living room as both of the sofas were converted into beds. We opened a couple of the cupboards of the kitchenette and they were disgusting - everything under a thick layer of dust and filth. The bedroom and bathroom were ok, but the handsoap and bodysoap dispensers were completely empty, and the body lotion was so old it smelled rancid.
In all, a very poor experience for their top lodging.
BREAKFAST was however, EXCELLENT.

We stayed here strictly because of the free parking. The floor of our room had a soft spot. The bed was very uncomfortable. The hotel had a smell. We opened the windows but still there was that smell. We could walk to a mall and a beach close by but limited sandy area on the beach. The staff were friendly but when we asked for a kettle or a coffee machine in the room we were told that we'd have to upgrade to a different room but they had none. We drove to Porto very easily to check out the sites but parking was hard to come by.

Just what we needed!

The front desk staff member was superb. Polite, professional, knowledgable, helpful and friendly. AND she spoke perfect English which helped our situation immensely.
Dinner was very good, bearing in mind the Covid restrictions on service availability and the same could be said for breakfast.
Comfortable room, clean and very tidy. Bed extremely comfortable. Thank you TRYP.

clean rooms and nice lobby sitting area with the bar right next to it where u get coffee or hot chocolate!! . Close to the mall shopping and 6 minute walk to supermarket Breakfast is a 10 plus!!! great. However the dinner staff could be friendlier and could learn a few things about customer service in the restaurant industry and language was not the issue. Im used to having a coffee machine and an iron in my rooms , they do not have them but its not a big deal! great hotel overall and very clean...

The rooms are a little dated and the location although close to the beach did require 1/2 hr travel via bus to get downtown. The bus route is conveniently located near the hotel so that was a bonus. Pool was great and the selection for the breakfast buffet was good. There weren't many other options available for restaurants in the area so we did eat downtown as well.

forget nonrefundable reservations?

I didn't stay at the Tryp Porto Expo because I discovered after a couple of days of having made the reservation that I'd entered the wrong date. The app did not let me contact the hotel, and the booking was nonrefundable. I now have to reevaluate whether I want to use nonrefundable bookings ever again. (There would have been a week for hotels.com to resell the room.)

Not bad, but not great

Hotel reception was lovely and staff for the most part great. Room was a little basic and was disappointed, there was no complimentary water, the mini bar had tins of coke and one of beer and the bathroom was worn and hadn't been properly cleaned. The shower head keep sliding down the pole so expect neck pain trying to rinse your hair. Breakfast was ok but nothing exciting and it was quite a limited range. The night before we checked out I asked at reception to book a taxi for 9.30am the next morning. When the taxi didn't arrive I went to check and the receptionist had set me up for a wake up call instead. Glad we weren't in a rush to the airport! We were here on business and the location was close to the offices but would try somewhere else next time.

The hotel is excellent, but the resraurant is not!

The hotel is excellent.
The only thing missing is power outlets that not already used for the light or TV. There was no free power outlet anywhere to charge your phone or laptop.

If your hungry, try some of the excellent fish restaurants downtown.
The restaurant in the hotel desperately need a new chef.

A good hotel for business people and for tourists

We were tourists looking for a good hotel close to the airport which is 10 minutes away by car. After a long journey we had difficulties finding the hotel. DONT use the underpass at Junction 7 of the motorway, keep on top. Sat nav didn't help. However, if you find IKEA then you can see the hotel on the other side of the road. The hotel location has the added bonus of having a lovely beach and the Atlantic ocean at the end of the road .Good for an evening stroll before dinner. The dining room looked out on a very attractive pool , screened by trees. It was a nice experience for our last night in Portugal.Only downside was the air conditioning in our room didn't seem very efficient.

Comfortable very reasonably priced hotel

Booked for one night and stayed for eight! Very comfortable hotel with tea and coffee making facilities in the room . Wi-fi worked perfectly from the entrance to the room.
We noticed a constant through put of airport and business meeting during the week with a noticeable change to family visitors at the weekend when it was exceptionally busy at breakfast.
Outside Swimming pool was cleaned daily and nicely situated with a terrace and adjoining gardens.
The standards of housekeeping and maintenance appeared to be high during our stay. Most importantly the friendly professional and helpful staff attuned to our needs very politely and positively.
We would recommend and return to this hotel even though initially this was not our intended location.

Nice hotel with only a 15 min walk to beach.

This hotel was very clean and slightly modern. The room is comfortable and quite clean. It was close to the beach and other amenities and had a nice pool as well. I did notice one day after having the sign up for do not disturb for the day ( we didnt want to put all our stuff away) that when we came back it looked as if someone had searched through our things and then the window was left open. Wasn't impressed with that. Other than that hotel is great for a family stay or a couple nights. Also if you are expecting to use wifi it doesn't work in the room, we had to sit by the elevators.

great stay for early morning flight

We stayed here for an overnight to catch an early morning flight. While the hotel is some distance from the city - if you don't mind the bus this would be a great place to stay - especially if you have kids. We upgraded to a suite and noted they had bunk beds a la murphy bed style - which we did not use as were only 2 but thought it was a good idea. The area does not have much by way of restaurants but we could be mistaken given our limited stay... \It is not far from a lovely beach as well. overall highly recommended..

Excellent quiet room, comfortable beds, very good free internet, nice functional bathroom, and good climate control. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Easy walking to shopping at MARS with a very good array of eating choices - nothing else close by.
Apart from a single news station - CNN - no English TV. Good 20 minute walk to the waterfront, but well worth it.
Sadly there is no airport transfer as stated in the Expedia writeup. It is 17-18 euros for a cab. When you can take the underground from the airport for minimal cost into downtown Porto it makes the price somewhat less appealing.

Small but very comfortable rooms. Out of porto town but good bus service to city. Walking distance to beach and 500 meters from lidl to get your essentials if like us you were flying with Ryanair!!!!!
Free shuttle service back to airport. A lot of negative reviews on location but we wanted pool which is difficult to get in city centre for our budget. I found location excellent and very relaxing hotel.

Great place to stay just outside Porto city centre

Stayed for 1 week at Tryp Expo Hotel. The location is about 20mins by bus to the city centre and we found it no problem at all to get in and out. About 1mile from Matoshinos beach and on the way are some good value supermarkets. The hotel staff were very helpful and the room, although quite small, was fine. Clean and just what you need to recharge. Loved the breakfast, lots of pastries, fruit, juices and cooked food too. Would definitely recommend.

Good value but location won't suit everyone

The Tryp is really a businessman or woman's hotel, so is clean, efficient with comfortable, well-sized rooms. They provide a free shuttle taxi to and from the airport. The breakfast buffet is good but the evening buffet is expensive for food that can be cold and over cooked. Get a bus to Montesinhos instead (5 mins away) and enjoy wonderful fresh fish cooked on a street barbecue at any of the numerous restaurants near the beach. The hotel is very near the airport so is convenient, with no noise problems and you can get a local bus 200 m down the road for a 20 min ride into central Porto. The area around the hotel is unattractive - it's located right by a big shopping centre (Ikea, Decathlon, Zara, Auchan/Jumbo hypermarket) which we found useful but it's not pretty.

The hotel was great - very clean, very comfortable, and I would definitely stay here again. The hotel provides free shuttle service to the airport (located about 10 minutes away), and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There seemed to be a lot of business folks there. There is a huge mall nearby within walking distance. The city centre is a 30 minute bus ride away, and the scheduling is not very convenient.

Everything was excellent except that I couldn't get the air-conditioning to work during a freak heat wave in March. I didn't have the energy to ask for help with this, so it may well have been fixable.
Breakfast lovely and loads of choice. Good location and free car parking. Restaurant was flexible when I asked for a substitution to the set menu.

This hotel is brand spanking new (2011), very clean/modern, but located in an industrial/commercial area. It is relatively close to the airport (10 min), but due to a lot of new construction my GPS had some trouble directing me efficiently. Everyting would have been fine had not the AC been turned off. It was a day in the upper 80s (27 C) and my room was stifling. Upon inquiring i was told that the AC is centrally controlled. Basta. I won't be coming back here in the summer......

Tryp Hotel - handy for business purposes

The hotel is easy to locate and not far from the airport. The restaurant closes at 10:00 though and I could only get a sandwich from the bar after this time that looked as if it had been sat on. Other guests also complained about the poor service at the bar, having to wait for someone to turn up to serve them. Easy to park outside the hotel.
