Disappointing stay

It’s a beautiful hotel however the TV didn’t work. We advised the front desk and some tried to fix it but to no avail. We should have received a discount or some sort of compensation as this was a service we were paying for but nothing was offered. Also, the shower leaked everywhere.

A great start to a tour of Portugal

The hotel was very modern and beautiful. Loved our junior suite room. This hotel was part of tour package but we upgraded to the suite. The jacuzzi to soak in every night was much needed. The bed was big but very firm for me but otherwise no complaints at all.

When we checked in for the hotel no one gave us formation about what products in the room were free. We didn’t use the bathrobes, not sure if they were included or not. No one explained to us how to use room service or where the menu was. The room smelled horrible of cigarette smoke when we checked in. The jacuzzi is why we picked the room, but it was too cold when we got there and took 5 plus hours to heat at a decent degrees. By the time it was hot enough for our liking, we were too tired. Also, we spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to turn the spa on. The patio was wet from raining the night before, so I used the towels to dry the patio so we could sit, not realizing they were the only towels we had. We called room service for more towels and a container of ice for our wine. Neither of those came. We decided after this hotel that we like boutique hotels better. Here we just felt like another number, not as special guests, even though we paid quite a lot for the room, over $200. Was not impressed.

Parking is not included in the rental, and the entry and exit of underground parking was very tight.
THe hotel MAnager was very rude, but the staff was very polite and helpful.

Hotel staff very condescending.

Hotel staff was not friendly and very unclear about stay. One staff offered us to use a microwave to heat food and another staff says we couldn’t. Manager came down but was useless. Rooms are basic and with no special amenity. There are better options nearby for same value.

Best place to stay for a soccer match!

Overall a great hotel. I chose this hotel because it was the closest hotel to the soccer stadium. Be aware that it's not in the city, so if you want to stay downtown this is not the place for you. However, this was definitely a great hotel and worth the stay!
Comfortable room and modern. The bar and lounge area was large with comfortable chairs and couches and TVs with sports.
Would stay here again for another soccer match

A functional hotel with a professional touch and staff, a little too far out of town for my liking always getting buses and taxis to get to the old town,the bus stop was very close but i would have much preferred to have stayed in the town centre. The hotel could not be criticised though, the room was very comfortable and facilities and room great.The reception staff were really helpful though €2.25 for a small bottle of water from the mini bar was a bit excessive,tip, don't get water out of the mini bar!

Great hotel!

We were extremely pleased with Bessahotel. It was a delight for an European hotel. We were greeted pleasantly by the young lady at the front desk. She was extremely helpful as well giving advice on touring Porto. Our room was huge, and we lucked into one on the 6th floor with a balcony! The bathroom had an amazing shower, I have never had so many bath amenities! The room had a desk to work at as well.

modern , clean with basic facilities hotel in a quiet residential / commercial district with excellent transport facilities , close to supermarket . Walking distance from national park and a bus ride to a sandy beach and to the port area with excellent fish restaurants .
The Nort shopping mall is only 3 metro stops. Highly recommended for family and business traveller . Airport is 11 km away . Good breakfast

Deluxe hotel with deluxe rooms and deluxe staff!

I never had a chance to look around the neighbourhood - it is very residential with a school in front but had no impact on my stay. The hotel itself I really enjoyed - the staff were nice but I did not get that overly welcome feeling. Would stay there again for business in the area.

We stayed at the hotel for just one night, staying in a family suite with a king room and twin room plus two bathrooms. It was fantastic! Very clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Only possible improvement would have been coffee in the rooms.

Lovely hotel

This was a lovely hotel and very good value. Rooms were very spacious and immaculate. Breakfast was amazing. We were in Porto for a conference so chose this hotel because it was near where the conference was held. However, I would not choose to stay here as a tourist- it is a 10 minute walk to the metro, 10 minutes on the metro, then another 10 minute walk into the restaurant/bar area, further to the old town.

Stayed there for two nights and loved it! The bed was extremely comfortable; pillows were also comfy. The room was very clean. the view wasn't the greatest from our room due to construction going on across but there was no noise so it didn't bother us. Will definitely return next time we go to Porto and will recommend to anyone travelling there

It is a little far from town. But we drove and the receptionist suggested we take a long slow coastal ride to town. It was a beautiful and breathtaking path to take. Furthermore, we bought the hotel mobile wifi for only 3euros which lasted for a full day. Worthwhile stay!

Porto BessaHotel - A big hit

The last stop on our self-directed 16-day tour of Andalusia Spain and coastal Portugal did not disappoint! We LOVED Porto!!! The city is charming and friendly, and offers lots to do. We stayed at the Bessa Hotel after a search on Expedia.ca. We were very pleased with what we got. A little far out of the city but only a 6 - 7 Euro taxi ride into town. We upgraded to a terraced suite on the 6th floor and loved it. The staff at the front desk was very helpful especially in securing us a spot on a River Cruise up the Douro River for the next day. We highly recommend a stop on Porto and a stay at the Bessa Hotel.

Very nice, clean and elegant hotel! A real 4 star!

The hotel is beautiful, clean and modern. The room has loads of space even if you are there for a week. The bed was comfortable and I loved the pillows. I enjoyed my showers because there was loads of space, the bathroom was clean and the water pressure was strong.
One evening we visited the bar-restaurant area and we enjoyed yummy desserts and tasty cocktails made from friendly staff.
The staff were friendly and they were trying to help. The wifi was good but of course do not expect the quickest one.
The location of the hotel is safe. There are high schools or primary schools around so that may cause a bit of noise on weekday mornings but not too disturbing. We were staying on 1st floor so that may have been the reason of us hearing the ringing bells of school and shouts of children.
The only small issue is actually the location because you need to walk for about 15 minutes to the underground (metro) station (Francos) but it is not too tiring. Plus the taxi from the centre to the hotel is about 7 euros so not too bad.
I enjoyed the modern furniture on the lobby area!

Boavista in Porto

The hotel is located next to the FC Porto Boavista stadium which is a €10 taxi ride into the centre of the city. The hotel is very modern and the family (ajoining rooms) that I booked was very clean, with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. The only complaint about the room was the air conditioning was not working (August in Portugal) and after two calls I was told a colleague had fixed it... they hadn't. I investigated the next morning and discovered the aircon was switched off at the fusebox. The breakfast offered a wide selection of cereals, breads, pastries and some hot food. The underground parking (€7 per night) was a necessity as parking anywhere in Porto seems impossible. The hotel staff were all friendly and professional although I have a concern that after booking via Hotels.com I was also charged directly by the hotel so I might have to sort that out after checking my credit card statements. Would use this hotel again and recommend for it's modern interior and professional image although it is a little far from the town centre.

Not a good hotel

Very far out of town. Nothing to do in the area. No restaurant , no Cafe, nothing, just the hotel and a neigborhood. The only place you have at the hotel to hangout they let everyone smoke. They have a terrace and you can't go out because of the mosquitos. Any tourist reservation you have to pay cash with them. The reception staff does not speak any language to comunicate. Hate this hotel.

It was quiet and perfect as a solo traveller. The cleaning was perfect and they had nice shower gel, body lotion and shampoo from Rituals. It is an hour away from the city center if you walk. The staff at the reception were nice and always available.

Das Hotel war im wesentlichen in Ordnung.
Der Buchungsprozess fraglich und unschön.
Expedia schreibt „erst in der Unterkunft zu bezahlen“. EXPEDIA schreibt: zusätzlich keinesfalls eine Überweisung an Dritte zu tätigen. Kurz nach Reservierungsbestätigung durch EXPEDIA erhielt ich eine Aufforderung, vom Hotel dringend - in wenigen Minuten! - eine vorab Zahlung per Kreditkarte zu leisten, Sonst wäre meine Buchung storniert. Es ist dabei nicht klargewesen ob das Hotel dabei als dritte gilt. Eine Kommunikation mit EXPEDIA ist schwierig. Ich konnte keine Rückfrage stellen und habe über meine Rückfrage keine Antwort bekommen Es gab mehrere Tage Verunsicherung die Veröffentlichung und Darstellung von Expedia finde ich daher an der Grenze des seriösen. Ich werde daher mit Expedia nicht so schnell wieder buchen. es gibt Unsicherheiten. Ich habe immerhin über 1000 € bezahlt und wusste nicht ob die Zahlung korrekt angekommen ist.
