This place was absolutely fantastic. Great location with convenience nearby, walking distance from the main attraction, yet separated enough from the mess of the historic centre. The service was superb, great breakfast served everyday and attention and kindness from the staff. I definitely recommend it and certainly would be back.

Staff were all outstanding and extremely helpful in making sure our stay was comfortable and our itinerary interesting. The hotel was amazing quiet and unique architecturally our balcony was great for relaxing and looking out over Porto. The location was great for us as we enjoy walking and did not want to be in the thick of the tourist area, we had the the Casa du Musica, local restaurants and markets on our doorstep. We would recommend Casa do Conto in which we stayed or the sister hotel Tipografia which we visited and has a bar and outside area and small pool.

Property is very contemporary boutique hotel in older section of Porto. Close to most sites in the travel guides & some hidden gems. Staff is accommodating to guests’ needs. We didn’t like the 1/2 floor concept. Still had to take luggage 1/2 way up or down & over a gap at the door. My friend found this a little disconcerting. Buffet breakfast was wonderful continental+ & lounge open at night for drinks. Most staff spoke good English.
This is for Travelocity—the address you gave to this property is the older one which is a block & 1/2 away. Please update as I didn’t pay attention to the address change in subsequent emails. Also, emphasize that even though you may be reserving a room for more than just one night, the hotel takes only one night’s pymt. for a retainer. Most of the properties you advertise take the entire amount. Was a bit surprised at arrival that I had to pay addt’l $300+.

Really cozy yet modern stay at Casa do Conto. Was here with my boyfriend for 4 nights, and from we arrived till we left, we were taken care of and was warmly received by the hostess. Breakfast was included which was lovely. Overall, great stay and we enjoyed loads.

Super stylish but some issues

We stayed in the new Tipografia and there were a few teething issues. They were preparing for the official opening and there were workmen, cables, tools etc all over the public spaces, which did not make them comfortable to be in so we couldn’t use them. Noise travelled throughout the hotel and disturbed the time we spent in our room. They only have 1 tea bag for two people, one pair of slippers and very small dressing gowns. However, the hotel is super stylish, very comfy bed and Mafalda was really very nice. Breakfast was good but not explained very well and the local area was just a short 10 minute walk into town. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants along the way.

Amazing hotel - service, design, space!

Wow - this hotel blew me away. The architecture and design were spectacular. The room and the public spaces were gorgeous. Breakfast was really top notch. And I can't say enough about the service. Every person at the front desk went out of her/his way to help - charting out roots on maps, telling us what to see, how to get there, what to eat, etc. Marsea was over the top amazing. When we left she created an itinerary for us on our way to Lisbon. One small drawback is that the location is about 15 minutes walk into the tourist part of town. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and the local restaurants, however, be aware that the hotel isn't in the center.

Gorgeous hotel. Lovely staff. A bit ‘form over function’ as all very much about the look. Excellent rooms very comfortable, but had to pay for tea and coffee! Breakfast looked great but had little choice really. Eggs only hot food on offer. Hotel a very long walk or taxi ride (€7) from Old Town. Not a problem for most but we were there in temperatures of 38*... If you are looking for a stylish boutique hotel this is excellent. If you want convenience and just a place to sleep then maybe go somewhere nearer the river front

I'd never stay anywhere else in Porto.

I don't usually leave reviews, but after such a wonderful experience at Casa do Conto, I feel that I must. When I arrived, Raul and Joanna made me feel like I was the most important person in Porto! I was made to feel so welcome, and nothing seemed too much trouble (Raul even helped me to park my car). They were both on hand to offer recommendations for great restaurants in the area. The next morning, another of their colleagues (who I'm sorry I didn't catch the name of) presented a great breakfast to me and made the check out process so easy.

There is a lovely garden at the back of the building as well as a charming common area which add a real touch of home. Raul helped me to my room with my bags, and I was delighted with what awaited me beyond the door. A trendy room with all of the facilities you could wish for. A powerful shower, lovely balcony, and very comfortable bed, along with a whole host of other amenities, such as a coffee machine, chilled water and a great variety of lighting - bright enough to read, but with the option to create a cosy atmosphere (which believe me, as someone who travels for business every week, is a lovely change from the norm).

I have already recommended the hotel to friends and family, and would personally never stay anywhere else when visiting Porto in the future.

Very interesting hotel in an older residence completely renovated in poured concrete rooms, floors, walls. Excellent staff always ready to help, perfect breakfast with made to order eggs, large spacious room with high ceilings. Our room faced the street with two large windows and a pair of French doors opening onto a typical small european style balcony. Only drawback we found was no in room safe, and no luggage valet so our luggage ended up staying on the floor for our three night stay. Not exactly in the center of things but a 20 minute walk and you are in the main tourist areas. Definitely will stay here again if we return to Porto.

Great place, felt like a real treat to stay here.

A unique experience. Modern, clean hotel with very stylish decor and ambience. We had a room with an internal balcony with a view over the garden which was great to sit in and relax. We also had a small kitchenette with fridge, hob, espresso maker. The bedding was top quality, as was pretty much everything. The location is a little out of the central touristy zone and quite a walk (20 minutes or so) but it is near a metro station and there are local restaurants close by. Good breakfast and friendly helpful staff. The hotel is staffed 24/7 so security is very good. We had a lovely time - it felt like a real treat to stay here. Easy travel to airport as the line goes through local station.

Best points - wonderful lofty room, large bed, finishing touches like water decanter and crystal glasses. Breakfast superb especially presentation of fruits. Considerate, helpful and amiable staff. Good location - close to metro for station and airport. Pleasant walk to main sightseeing areas.
Minor negative points - jury still out about concrete bathroom (personal taste) and description of kitchenette far fetched (actually just tea and coffee making).

Boutique art hotel within an easy walk or metro ride to the historic centre of Porto. A very contemporary renovation provides you with a spacious light-filled room with minimal clutter. My partner and I stayed here for two nights with our infant. The staff were friendly and professional, and the hotel is both modern and warm. There are cool design elements throughout the space, and the hotel itself has an interesting history. It is a short walk to the old city. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something cool and a little different.

A Hidden Gem

Casa do Conto doesn't look like much from its exterior and the immediate surrounding neighborhood is worn looking, which is not untypical of the central Porto area, but behind its front doors is a true gem. The five story row house has been completely rebuilt in a modern art deco style with all the latest amenities. The first floor is below street level but has a comfortable breakfast dining area that leads out to a private garden for guest use on warm days. The second floor is entered from the street where the \"front desk\" is located with a comfortable sitting and reading room in the rear area. There is also a display of tasteful, unique gifts available for purchase. The top three floors contain six very spacious and well-furnished rooms with one room facing the street and the other the garden. French doors in our garden view room led onto an enclosed light and airy sitting area that had a wet bar with small fridge and a two burner electric top. While the bathroom is small by American standards, it's sleek, modern and was fine for us. We didn't need it but the hotel has parking available in a private garage immediately across the street. However, I would not recommend driving in central Porto as its a labyrinth of narrow, hilly, streets, and the locals drive very fast. We had an excellent late evening dinner at one of several closeby restaurants.

A unique hotel

A unique boutique hotel on the border of central Porto just 2 metro stops to the historic area. Titu and the staff made our visit comfortable and enjoyable . The hotel has quite a story of creation as it suffered a horrendous fire which resulted in only the exterior facade being saved. The subsequent interior re-design is a work of modern art by the company, Pedra Liquida. We were fortunate to meet the primary architect, the charming Alexandra Grande and her elegant mother on the Sunday of our departure .

A well mannered taxi driver was sent to the train station in Porto on arrival. This was a great service as this was the first time we were visiting Porto. On arrival we were greeted by staff who took care of the luggage and the paper work in a very friendly and efficient manner. During the stay whenever we needed help the staff promptly provided the support. The hotel staff also arranged for the tour which turned out to be an excellent experience. The breakfast was excellent. The room was artistically decorated. On checking out the staff efficiently arranged for a taxi and negotiated the fare on our behalf to take us to the train station.

In summary it was a great experience to stay in the hotel

Casa de Conto is a unique contemporary hotel, with stunning architectural features. Immediately on arrival we found the staff helpful and attentive. Our room (JF) was fantastic and spotlessly clean, notable details were the ceiling and exposed concrete, it was spacious with a large comfy bed and rainfall shower. Although we had a street facing room, we wasn't at all disturbed by noise. The hotel is located nearby to Carolina Michels Metro Station and the City centre is a short journey away. Nothing was was too much trouble for the staff, which gave to a faultless and wonderful stay. We intend to return very soon!

Casa do Conto is a small gem of a hotel (six rooms on three floors). Its innovative architectural features are hidden behind a traditional Portugese facade and the oh-so comfy beds are in stark contrast to the polished concrete walls. An eclectic array of fittings (21st century modernism to Sixties Scandinavian) complete the picture. The staff are friendly and ever-helpful and the breakfast is a real treat - fresh fruit and eggs to order. Recommended - but not if you're a fan of chintz and frills.

Attention to detail is the name of the game

The hotel ownwers are architects and had done a total reburbishment when it caught fire. Determined to make an even better job out of a disaster they dared and achieved an amazing result where modern cons and raw building materials live in perfect harmony with contrasting tradicional opulent details. Attention to detail is the name of the game .Breakfast is fresh and delicious and there is a metro station on hte corner. the neighbourhood is very quiet. Perfect place to be - a real inspiration.

perfect for the independent minded traveller

The place is dramatic, peaceful, comfortable, convenient.

We had a first floor, above the street room and yes, with windows open there is typical city noise. But the well designed windows, which easily shut, easily cut the decible level in half, if not more.

We found the breakfast to be excellent, the distance from the touristic areas perfect as you can burn off calories with a fifteen minute walk, the staff sweet and helpful.

By the way, the bus system is very easy and we ended up spending 3 days at the surprisingly nice beach area.

A very good place, if not actually a prime central location

Beautiful furnishings, great service, very clean, great breakfast. If you are looking for a place in the central part of tourist Porto though, this is definitely not it. They will tell you it's only 20 minutes from the 'historic center' -- by that they mean the big plaza with the municipal building - it's actually a good 30-40 minute walk from the river (and that's all uphill coming back! ) which is where most tourists coming to Porto to try the ports will want to be. ... That said, it's very accessible by metro which is very easy, and we liked the walk, and it was otherwise a great hotel and a very pleasant stay all around (though they should have a safe in the room).

Sowohl das Zimmer als auch das äußerst zuvorkommende Personal bleiben uns in bester Erinnerung. Das Frühstück war sehr hübsch und liebevoll angerichtet und kein Wunsch blieb offen. Außerdem haben wir ein kostenloses Upgrade (3. Stock mit Balkon und Blick über Porto) bekommen. Alles prima! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

A casa do Conto é um ótimo
Boutique hotel. Há poucos quartos, o atendimento é pessoal e cordial. A decoração é muito elegante, os quartos são grandes e o café da manhã é satisfatório. Os dois únicos pontos negativos são o tamanho do banheiro, muito pequeno e desconfortável e a localização do hotel que está afastado de pontos turísticos.

Magnifique expérience!!!
- L’hotel est très bien situé: 30 min de l’aéroport en métro, au centre ville et à 10 min à pieds de tout ce qu’il y a à voir à Porto centre.
- Le personnel est fantastique: après avoir visiter 15 pays et plus de 30 villes dans le monde, l’accueil dans cet hôtel est je peux le dire unique et formidable!
- Petit déjeuner: très bons produits et plus qualitatif que quantitatif.
- Chambre: propre, moderne et spacieuse.

Pour résumer, c’est en grande partie grâce à l’ensemble de l’hotel Et surtout le personnel que notre séjour a été génial et que nous le recommanderons à tous nos amis et familles!
