The hotel is a nice place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet spot. The housekeeping is over the top. They keep things clean and do it with friendly faces all the time. I’ve got a few issues with some upkeep. The pool is in the basement and really is not inviting. I had very little air conditioning in my room. Complained three times. The first time, no action taken. The second and third, I heard someone outside my room and it looked like they simply reset the A/C. No one ever verified if things were good and out of 8 days, none were satisfactory. The beds/mattresses are also reaching the end of their life. As much as I liked the location, there are other hotels nearby that I would choose next time.

We recently stayed at this hotel during our trip to Porto and had a pleasant experience overall. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location was excellent.
However, there were a few service issues worth noting. Compared to another hotel from the same brand in Lisbon, the service here felt inconsistent. In Lisbon, bottled water was provided without issue, while in Porto we were told there would be a charge, even when requesting it directly at reception.
Additionally, during our stay, housekeeping did not replenish tissue paper or vanity kits, and we had to request them ourselves.
I’m sharing this feedback respectfully because the hotel has great potential, and improving consistency and housekeeping attention would enhance the guest experience.

Great hotel, great value. Only thing letting it down is the breakfast (not good value) and the “spa” facilities, the pool and jacuzzi were very dated.

Other than that the people were all really nice and helpful, the room was great size and comfy bed.

Spacious Room, Good location out of town

Although this hotel is not downtown there are still plenty of restaurants and supermarkets within reach. Uber or Bolt is your friend and you can get downtown for as little as 4EUR.

We didnt take breakfast as we were staying 5 nights and thought it a little pricey but plenty on the doorstep including a supermarket right next door where you could get pastries.

We had a high floor room which was north facing so no sun but nice views. If i was to return i would ensure to ask for the south facing where i assume you overlook the city. The room itself was large and the bed was huge. However it was dark, being north facing and due to dark furniture so seemed a little miserable

We didnt eat in the hotel but we used the bar on the rooftop which had amazing views.

We used the spa. They have monthly offers which seemed to be a good deal. The deal included the use of their circuit which was simply thermal baths with jets, hammans, jacuzzi etc. Some elements needed repairs but overall was nice as we were the only people in there. We used the swimming pool and contrary to another members feedback it was free for guests.

A fine stay but definitely not 5 stars. Room was large and great bathroom, but cleanliness was somewhat lacking, especially the carpets which were stained and dirty. Hotel itself was clean and modern - rooftop bar was nice.

Pool looked good - staff were rude when tried to use it, saying you needed to purchase swimming caps from reception. Not a very welcoming approach to using the facilities.

We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at the Porto Palacio. The room was clean and spacious. Great leisure facilities including a swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Fantastic breakfast. Convenient location close to the bus stop and metro station. The staff were friendly and helpful. I thoroughly recommend this hotel which is truly 5 star.

This hotel claims to be 5-star, but our experience was far from it. The air conditioning didn’t work the entire time we were there, making the room unbearably hot and impossible to sleep in. We reported the issue three times—each time we were told a technician would come. Someone showed up twice, only to tell us there was nothing they could do. No resolution, no apology, no compensation.

On top of that, the beds were uncomfortable and the carpet was stained and filthy. For a hotel that markets itself as luxury, the reality is way off. Poor maintenance, poor service, and not worth the money. Avoid if you’re expecting anything close to a 5-star stay.

A very good and reasonably priced stay. The breakfast buffet was spectacularly good with a big variety of cooked and continental options of high quality.

The only minor issue is that while having free parking was excellent it would be better if the entrance was more clearly marked from the road. The spiral ramp in and out is also rather tight so may be difficult to negotiate in an unfamiliar hired large SUV!

The property was very nice, however, the garage parking was extremely tight. Rather than send someone down to get my car, the desk clerk handed me the keys. Of course, I scratched the side of the car not being used to the extreme tightness. Netflix, YouTube and other streaming services did not work. I was told it was Sunday and people don't work -- heck, they are operating a supposed \"5-Start\" hotel and can't get their TV to properly work. My wife lives elsewhere and their hotel always has an emergency technicians available. The lamp light didn't work. The handle in the shower was difficult to turn. I have stayed in hotels around the world including Lisbon and Porto and I'd rate this a 4-star IF everything was working. What was nice was the bar and dining area, the large gym, the spa and steam room. I planned to use the spa but didn't get a chance to do so. Finally, the roof bar was nice and the view outstanding but like the primary menu, it should have a few more appetizer options.

Staff were attentive and friendly, and the hotel had good facilities, and was very clean. I would have appreciated a fridge in the room, as I travel on a budget, and often buy food for late night snacks or a quick breakfast, and the carpet was clean, but due to be replaced. Clearer information about the amenities on the website or in the room or elevators (great that there is a pool -- but where? Hours?) would have been useful.

The area around the hotel is clean and safe, but a bit bland; apart from a few buildings I could have been in any country in Europe.

Transit options for getting into the centre of Porto or out to the beach and aquarium were close to the hotel, but unreliable as far as the bus schedule was concerned.

Given the excellent service, comfortable room, and reasonable price, I would very happily recommend this hotel to family and friends or stay there again myself -- but I would allow a little more time to get to the old city (or take a taxi -- very inexpensive). Also, don't miss the roof bar! I only went on my last night, and really regretted not having gone sooner.

Not a bad hotel but not 5 star ! Too far away from the central parts where everyone wants to be. Hotel a bit dated and worn in the rooms . Stained carpets etc.. but comfortable enough. Terrible service at the bar on the top floor . Ordered a cocktail and the bar went walkabout then served 2 women first ! 20 min wait . Top tip ? stay some where closer to the centro

A Wonderful Stay at Porto Palácio Hotel

My stay at Porto Palácio Hotel was truly exceptional. The service was warm and professional, the room elegant and comfortable, and the views from the rooftop bar were unforgettable. I especially appreciated the relaxing sauna steam room and jacuzzi and the hotel’s perfect balance of luxury and convenience. The breakfast buffet was amazing, it has everything you need and staff on hand were extremely friendly and accommodating. A beautiful experience I’d happily repeat.

A lovely hotel, with very helpful attentive staff.
Rooftop bar and restaurant on the nineteenth floor.
I didn’t get chance to use the Spa but it looked lovely.
The Hotel is in a very safe area with good restaurants close by.
Porto is a big City so it’s a 50 minute walk from the River and main area, but taxis are cheap and readily available.

Six-day stay in June

We booked an executive twin room and were told on arrival that we had been upgraded from that room (which would have been on the 10th, 11th or 12th floor) to Room 1706 near the top of the hotel, with a fantastic view out over Porto to the Douro River and even a little piece of the Atlantic Ocean. The room was extremely quiet and very comfortable (although the pillows could use an upgrade). The internet connection was out our first night, so neither TV nor wifi worked, but we told the desk staff about it when we went out our first morning and it was fixed by the time we got back. Breakfast was very nice, served in a very large room, with lots of choices (including port and sparkling wine!) and specialty coffees available by order. The hotel is not centrally located, but metro stops are within walking distance and the metro is very easy to use, and taxis (inexpensive by US standards) easily got us to train stations for day trips and to the airport for departure.

This hotel totes itself as a 5 star hotel, but having travelled to many, it is not at that level. Buffet breakfast is limited in options compared to other hotels at a 5 star quality rating. The room I was in had stained carpet and the drain in the shower was not functIonal, nor was soap checked for levels. The location is not convenient for pedestrian access to the old city. But convenient enough to the metro. Room is quiet and the sliding door dividing the bath and toilet rooms (they were separate in my room) adds acoustic privacy. The separate bath and toilet room would be convenient for people travleeing together but less so maybe for solo.

Incredible staff but facility needs some updates.

All the staff we interacted with were excellent, this started with the front desk all the way through to the breakfast and housekeeping staff. We were there during the 12-hour long countrywide power blackout and the staff handled the challenging situation extremely well.

The hotel's location is a bit far from the historic district, but both step- on/off bus companies plus the public metro buses have stops just steps away from the front door.

Our only complaint involves the facility itself. The carpets, plumbing, and furniture needed some replacing.

You don’t have sufficient personnel in key positions that speak English. Not enough personnel in housekeeping waited to get pillows and towels for two hours, again the front desk does not answer the phone because they are too busy, not enough personnel. The phone in the room did not work, the security box needed the battery replaced. Coffee the room only for one.

They should definitely not use beige carpet in a hotel. It looked absolutely filthy. The hotel itself is presented well, however, the beds are extremely hard. We had advised them our air was not working in the room and it took on the third of our fourth night Stay for them to come and claim it was not working and moved us to another room, which was extremely inconvenient. It is also a 15 minute Uber ride downtown. I will pass on staying here again. Definitely not five star.

Great Location not too far out of town perfect for travelling into the centre if needed, very comfortable, wonderful breakfast, really enjoyed the swimming pool and hotub! all the staff are very helpful and welcoming! I enjoyed that the hotel was not too central as there were other places i wanted to go other than the center of the city. Would happily stay again!

This property is lovely, we stayed for two nights. Unfortunately there was a problem with our air conditioning. They did try fixing it both days but it did not work. We were unable to sleep it was so warm. We were not offered a different room and when mentioned again at checkout there wasn’t even an apology.

I recently stayed at this hotel expecting a four-star experience, but it was far from that. The room was outdated and poorly maintained, with stained carpets, damaged walls, chipped furniture, and torn curtains. The overall cleanliness was unacceptable for the price and rating.

To make things worse, when we raised these concerns with reception, we were told that groups are prioritized over individual guests like us, which felt dismissive and unprofessional.

The service was slow and the experience did not meet expectations. I hope management takes steps to improve both the room quality and their approach to customer service.
