Kathleen
The best thing about hotel Oporto is the location for the price. I got a fabulous view of the Sao Joao festival fireworks. The room was bare bones but clean. The whole hotel seemed more empty and weird like The Shining. I think it must fill for conferences. The staff and breakfast were fine.
Barbara
This is a wonderful hotel! The staff were quite welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, offering direction, recommendations and arranging for transportation for us. The location is fantastic - ocean and bridge views from the room and an easy walk to the central area, yet off the beaten path, so very quiet. Breakfast was included, and with outstanding options. We had an early departure for the airport for our return trip, so they even packed take-away breakfasts for us! Our sincere thanks to the Vilar Oporto - I would highly recommend this hotel!
Caroline
Internal decor ok, room very dated and felt very budget, bathroom nice. No bar open in evening and this is on the out skirts 15/20 mins walk to centre. Terrace shocking, broken tiles and dirty, no bins. Our patio was completely shattered tiles, nothing to sit on. From back hotel looks more like a prison!
Catherine
Our checking went smoothly and our room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful with questions and any special requests. Breakfast was fresh with a good variety. The dining room and buffet area was kept tidy.
Pete van
Parking was available at the hotel. Breakfast was terrific! Beds were good. This hotel is a 20 minute walk from the historic center. A beautiful hotel recommended highly.
Lee Ha
The staffs are very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast.
Aliysha
Nice room with good views, breakfast is good. A little out of the way for me but Bolt/Ubers are cheap so able to move around
Rana

Staffs were nice but the building is very old. Many empty spaces. To walk from our room to the frontdesk takes forever. Place needs a serious renovation

Room ok, but no tea/coffee facilities. However it was cleaned and reset daily. Bathroom excellent. Breakfast decent, with a good selection. Excellent viewpoint.
There is a bar, but no preson to serve in it. You have to get someone from reception. If they are busy, then forget it. Outside sitting area of bar area decrepit. Overall, it feels like the hotel's best days are long gone apart from the bathroom which clearly has been recently refurbished. Reception, Breakfast and cleaning staff all very friendly. Very little in the way of restaurants in the vicinity. About 25 minutes walk to the Clerigos Tower, and bus stops within five minutes.

The hotel is great - comfortable rooms, exceptional housekeeping, quiet and in a safe neighborhood. Very friendly and fun staff.

Good hotel to stay
View from the window was really amazing. Hotel itself is very outdated and screams for renovation. Though it’s clean nothing was broken, breakfast was good, staff is friendly and helpful. It’s approx 15 min walk to downtown but away from busy streets and very quiet.
Manuel
This hotel is lovely, spacious, quiet, the staff are very helpful and kind and the breakfast is delicious! The breakfast room is bright, large and has floor to ceiling windows with river view. The front desk staff are outstanding!
Shivani
Nice hotel not too far from the centre, staff were very friendly and helpful
Andrea
The lack of dining options was troublesome.
Vlad
Conveniently located in historic city centre, close to a nice park (Jardins de Cristal)

This interesting building was a pleasure to stay in. They serve an excellent breakfast and have free parking. Location is convenient if you’re able to walk a fair bit to see historic city center

The photos of this property y false advertising. The hotel is very old, does not have a phone to comunicate to front desk. Air conditioning does not work when i asked front desk about it he told me customers prefer not to use that is why is not working he told me to open the window i could not sleep because there is a construccion going and they star makin noise at 7 am every day. Horrible service breakfast is horrible no selection. The hotel is every noisy you will not get a good night sleep in this place. I also got bitten by a spyder and my hand on my first night. My han was swallowed for 4 days horrible experience.

Good hotel with a very good shower, nice room, well located, very good breakfast. I didn't like the pillows though.

Clean & comfortable stay + parking
We had a quiet & comfortable stay at this hotel linked to conference centre, near to the Crystal Palace park / hospital neighbourhood. The reception were very helpful with parking advice and took time to explain all facilities ( good English spoken) We enjoyed the inclusive breakfast buffet on the top floor dining room with a great view on the bridge . A 5 min walk downhill took us to a selection of hotel bars, cafes and restaurants on the riverside (‘Soul Sense’ was our fave cool spot for eats & drinks)
Stuart
High standard
Lynn
This hotel is more a conference centre with hotel rooms than a hotel. It has to be the worse looking building in Porto. It definitely has a coporate feel. However inside it is very spacious, our room had a massive comfy bed, all the sanitory ware was modern clean, massive shower with lots of hot water. Room was well cleaned every day. Our stay included breakfast which was very good. All staff were very friendly.
Only minor downside was no tea making facilities and only UK channel was BBC World News.
Overall this hotel was outstanding value, a short walk from the historic centre of Porto

Great breakfast. Had hotel to myself in the winter time.
Anna
Be careful parking, it's a metered area without convenient meters. Interesting, churchy, basic facility in a decent location that's (long) walkable to central sites.
Maria
3 day stay
Very good experience. Friendly environment.
Cathy
A nice stay
It met the standards expected for a 3 star hotel. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. A water bottle was offered in the room at no extra cost which was a nice touch.

The hotel was clean and functional, the rooms lacked some character. It's a little further to the city centre than i thought. Good breakfast. Helpful reception staff. Overall a good stay.

GHASSAN
it was a huge old hotel. the common areas were very spacious. the hotel is nicely located, and you can walk to the historic center. there is also a nearby park that is popular with lots of birds.
Jonathan Filipe Da
Ideal location if you are hiring a car. Plenty of free parking and breakfast was included, unlike most other hotels in this price range. The walk into the centre is do-able in 20-25mins and along to the beach in the opposite direction (around 30-40mins), especially the first time, when you're exploring and enjoying the river views, but it does become a bit of a drag after several visits - i gather there are deals to be had if you arrange parking in the city centre at least ?72hrs ahead.
Staff are all friendly. The views are very nice considering the budget for the hotel, i think they could make even more of their rooftop, with some trees/plants, seating, new tiles etc but it would cost a bit and then the prices would probably go up..! Room was nice enough, the air con worked well and the bathroom was very nice. The slight downside for me was the single beds were a bit on the short side and im not exactly huge at about 6ft. Would happily stay here again.

This hotel is at the edge of the old town in Porto. It is very convenient for dining and getting around town. However this property is a dorm attached to a Catholic monastery conference center. It should be advertised as a dorm not a hotel. The beds were terrible and very uncomfortable. Overpriced for the room quality. Good thing we were staying only one night at the end of our trip.
Sabrine
The room was 1 hour ready after check-in. I was super tired but the staff were still cleaning after the reception told me your room is ready.
The place is noisy, all night windows in the corridor were splapping and making a huge scary noise during the night. The thing is there is no phone in the room you can call the resection to check what is going on! Which also was upsetting.

Buyer beware
It is a very confusing and spread out old building with only one elevator bank at the wrong end of the building. The hotel was clean but had no amenities, no air conditioning, no restaurant nor bar on site. Location was not great
Lisa
Great view from our room, breakfast was good. Was looking forward to spending time on rooptop terrace bit understaffed. And the terrace was adirty
Parinya
good location and view
Catherine
This hotel is part of a conference center but is very conveniently located and had onsite, protected parking available. Staff members at check-in were very helpful in pointing out interesting sites and providing walking directions. Room was comfortable and everything was clean. There were many options for breakfast and food was cleanly presented. In terms of eco-friendliness, I would suggest getting rid of the individual butter packets!
Marta
The staff at reception and in the restaurant were great, very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel.

King time to check in. Rooms needed fans because no AC.

There was a problem with the reservation. They offer us another room. It was ok overall but they didn't tell us there were lots of noise in that part of the hotel! Next day the moved us to the one we had booked. Staff ok.

Casa de Vilar is a very unique and large hotel. There is a lot of space so room was very quiet, as well as comfortable with a nice porch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would go back.

Wouldn't recommend
For the price..... this stay was very disappointing to say the least.
The staff seemed like it was a hassle to be there, no smiles, no friendliness
The room had no amenities, no temperature control, no toothpaste, no kettle, very cramped
Breakfast....... pretty shocking. Ham, cheese, store bought crossaints, yogurt and three sugary cereals. Oh and scrambled egg. No greeting at breakfast, no explanation, when food ran low it was moved to a smaller dish instead of being topped up
Came away feeling actually quite angry at the money I paid for the stay

The hotel covers the basics. 15 minute walk from the Center of the city and Palacio de Cristal. The reception also has a nice view of one of the bridges.
The wifi never worked in the rooms, the “restaurant” is more like a bar that serves coffee and pastries but there’s not a real atmosphere (or enough staff) to relax and have a drink nor have a meal.
The place will get the job done but don’t expect much besides the basics.

Hôtel propre. Chambres confortables. Parking gratuit.
