I initially booked a two-night stay at The Westin Xian but ended up leaving early and I’m glad I did. While the hotel has potential, it feels dated and poorly maintained.
We reserved a large one-bedroom suite but were given a lower-floor room that required a long walk to reach. Since we were traveling with my elderly father-in-law, we requested a wheelchair, expecting a hotel of this caliber to have a good one. Unfortunately, the wheelchair was broken. Although they replaced it, the second one wasn’t much better.
In contrast, the smaller room on a higher floor had a much better view and a more pleasant atmosphere. The hotel’s layout is inconvenient, with long walking distances and a lack of strategically placed elevators a major issue for guests with mobility concerns.
On a positive note, the breakfast was good, but overall, the hotel needs significant updates to meet the expectations of a luxury stay. It’s not a terrible hotel, but for the price and brand, I expected much better maintenance and service.

The location is very good and there is a wide range of food at breakfast Buffett, including Chinese and western cuisine. The room is outdated a bit but clean. I reserved a city view room but was given a room with sort of garden view. When I asked the hotel staff, I was told that the room with city view is generally noisy and it really sounds like an excuse. I just hoped that when checking in, they should’ve made it clear to me.

I recently booked an executive suite based on the appealing photos showcasing a beautiful view. However, upon checking in, I was informed by the front desk that the room I had booked was not available. After consulting with a supervisor, they informed me that the room was now available, but it did not offer the promised view displayed in the room details. To my disappointment, the supervisor explained that the photo in the room details was actually taken from a bar within the building and was unrelated to the room itself.

Furthermore, when I entered the room, I immediately noticed that the trash cans had not been cleaned, and there was a strong odor resembling urine near the door. This lack of cleanliness was disheartening and added to my overall negative experience during check-in. However, I must acknowledge that the location of the hotel is quite pleasant.

In summary, my check-in experience was unsatisfactory due to the unavailability of the promised room with a view, the misleading photo in the room details, and the cleanliness issues within the room. Nonetheless, I appreciate the hotel's desirable location.

Convenient location right next to Pagoda and many food & shopping options nearby. Very friendly and caring staff, allowing us to check in in the morning into an upgraded and very spacious room. The only thing that lacks slightly back behind the high hotel standard is the swimming pool with a little outdated facilities and sombre atmosphere. The hotel offers free entrance into the art museum attached which is worth a visit e.g. after enjoying the rich and tasty breakfast.

Substandard Westin, very disappointed

The hotel is located in a nice area however the service needs attention. On Sunday morning at 9am we were woken up by very loud noise of people shouting at each other in the hallway. This lasted about more than 30 min... until we called reception and was notified there was a wedding party that morning. Not a single apologies from staff or management team. This totally written off the hotel for us ... the rooms are dark and tired and bathroom needs renovation ... not the usual Westin feel i am afraid.

I honestly can't say I've enjoyed a hotel stay as much. From the spacious room, fabulous food, friendly attentive service to great location this hotel has it all you will not be disappointed. We travel a fare bit and have been a member of another hotel chain for years but will definitely be changing if this is the level of service Westin offers. I hope this is a benchmark followed by other hotels in the group. There staff training is faultless. Will be back.

Sweet accommodation at a fantastic location!

We were supposed to stay at the studio, which was okay, except that it was a little distant from the main hall. So the morning after, we requested to switch from the studio residence to the main hall, where the hotel rooms are. The switch was swift, and the hotel room that we stayed on the second evening was remarkable. The night spot beside the hotel was remarkably lively on a cold winter evening.

As for the hotel, the design of the hotel is a reminder of its oriental heritage, mixed with contemporary style that many are familiar with. Swag to the max.

Nice area that will be even better when surrounding renovations are finished. Having mall opposite was convenient, as well as coffee options at hotel (Starbucks). Room was comfortable and a decent size, and staff were nice. Only comment is that it did feel like room could do with a little bit of a re-vamp, but mostly the bathroom.

Loved the hotel and it is in a great area. Couldn’t be better located. Right across from the Wild Goose Pagoda and this huge new upscale mall. Nice park and places to walk around. The hotel could use a little maintenance and touch up. It’s showing a bit of age. I imagine with all the new stuff around it, it will will refurbish soon. I would highly recommend staying there!

The hotel is near the Wild Goose Pagoda and the fountains so watching the light show at night was easy. Food was more expensive as it was a tourist area.

The hotel is relatively far from the City Walls and its attractions within the walls such as the Bell and Drum Towers. We took cabs which took more than half an hour per ride due to the traffic jams. We tried the subway when it was raining and that turned out to be much faster but the walk back to the hotel was about 10 to 15 min.

The hotel had what I expected of a five star hotel but nothing particularly exceptional. Breakfast was ok. Room service was reasonably priced. Tired the foot massage at the hotel spa which was relaxing.

Nice hotel near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Lots of restaurants around the area. Our room was comfortable, but our relatives who stayed in a room facing the Big Wild Goose Pagoda said they could hear every sound from the traffic and people in the square surrounding the pagoda. The hotel is not close to the subway, so the only convenient way to get around is by taxis which are not easy to find even with help from hotel staff. A small but very nice museum is attached to the hotel. Admission is free to hotel guests.

The hotel was very lovely. I loved the environment of the hotel, my room and how friendly the staffs were. the receptionists gave us a warm welcome when we checked in, one of them also walked us to our room, made small conversations with us and gave us some great tips. the location of Westin Xi'an was also very good. walkable to the Pagoda, train station and lots of restaurants. one more perk was you could take the shuttle bus from the airport and straight to the hotel. very convenient. nice stay!

Very dark hotel in good location

This Westin is not up to the usual Westin standards. It is extremely dark. Although it is only 5 years old, it appears to be an old hotel. The rooms smell slightly like they used to permit smoking. The air conditioning stopped working after two nights. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had very nice fixtures (toilet and shower). The bar was good and the Zen restaurant was outstanding. The location was very good, right across the street from a wonderful shopping district and park area. We checked out one night early even though we had already paid for our entire stay. The staff was good. The hotel was disappointing overall.

The hotel is very tastefully appointed, with historical artifacts in the halls with a museum themed setting. The hotel blends in with historic surroundings perfectly. I was upgraded to the best suite I have ever stayed in (I usually stay in suites). The layout was perfect, with a very private living room. I also liked the shuttered windows. The lighting was very good too (a constant frustration at other hotels)

The hotel staff do their best to make you as comfortable as possible. English can be a challenge with some of the staff. There may be one or two minor hitches but they are due to communication barriers. The reception staff who checked me in was super nice and English literate. It was great to have my room upgraded although I did not request for it.

This Westin was designed to look like a Hotel W but did not quite work. Décor was just meant to be cool but the effect not so cool. The coffee shop lighting is rather poor and if you sit there at breakfast, the big block of blue light from underneath the buffet counter simply does not allow you to see your food clearly. Hotel concierge staff was not knowledgeable at all and failed to give good restaurant recommedations and the info related to the restaurants. Just a name and no address given. We stayed at the Shangrila for one day before transferring to the Westin and must say we were much happier with the Shangrila in all aspects.

Westin sojourn in Xi'an

Hotel is a great base while in Xian. A calm low key location close to a lot of lovely things to see and enjoy. Service is excellent in everyday. ALthough Xi'an is capitol city its is not the power house of business like Shanghai and Beijing. The Staff is little more low key and home spun but still very professional.
Enjoyed the Executive level on the 5th floor. Nice views and a nice spread of food and drink items. It wraps up promptly though.
Room was great. Bath and shower are nice. Dark marble in Bath I did not love.
Buffett dining space is not the best environment but was ok.service was excellent.

Great hotel in a great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. There is plenty to see and do in and around the hotel. The airport is about an hour away. We took a taxi to the hotel at 150RMB. The hotel have a transfer service for 200RMB, take this option as you get a big clean saloon car instead of the small dirty taxi. My only disappointment about the hotel was the executive lounge. Food and drinks come out at 6pm and are promptly locked away at 8pm. A tad stingy in my books.

Best Hotel for relaxation while on business

I have never written a review as I do not see any substantial needs to repeat good/bad experience some travelers have already written.
But Westin Xian deserve a full 5-stars or 10-stars if possible. I travel for business often and all over the world. I will remember this hotel for a long time from the relaxing atmosphere, to the zen-like decoration throughout the hotel and in the room, the comfort in the room, the friendliness of the staff, and wow the food (room service and at their restaurants) are very delicious.

Best rate from Expedia as well. I will stay there and recommend to my colleagues if we are to return to Xian.

Clean & comfortable. The services are absolutely impeccable. The front desk and restaurant staff are knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. The restaurant was able to accommodate our last minute reservation even though it was booked for a private party. One minor drawback is it’s smallish lobby. It does get noisy and busy with endless foot traffic.

The Best Hotel In XiAn

Hands down the best hotel in XiAn - the 5th floor executive suites are worth the money. That being said, the hotel is not perfect. The pool could use an update, really not impressed. The health department requires swim caps, which no western / foreigner is going to bring with them - they did provide ones we could borrow but this is very odd by western standards. In addition they need to police the smoking better. I spent over $400 on a couples massage at the very expensive spa and people were smoking in the spa lobby which is disgusting - like most of China the attitude towards smoking is very light no one cares.

I have stayed here for 2 years for work and finally was able to stay for pleasure. The definitive location for Xi'an to stay as the home base for tourism. The location near the Dayan Pagoda is an amazing location to adjust. The hotel will schedule your trip to any other location for you.

Good location, but very dark inside

This is not the typical Westin in that it only has five or six floors and was very dark inside. The room was clean, but also very dark inside with no views. The hotel has good amenities, but seemed empty inside without a lot of activity in the lobby or lobby bar. There is nothing wrong with the hotel itself, just a little different than we expected after being to many other Westin hotels in the U.S.

Almost everything about this hotel was great. The location was very convenient to a lot of the attractions. My only complaint was that the breakfast buffet was not included in the room and it was $ 27 per person per day which is outrageously expensive even by western standards. This hotel is a little over priced for China.

Knowing The Westin, I had expected higher quality form the Xian location than I received. The location is at the south end of the world renown tourist attraction Da Yan Ta. But the staff provided a service level of local equivalent quality. The staff needs training to keep up with their international peers. The wifi is certainly a joke although free. It is so slow that it reminds me of the speed 20 years ago. I would not recommend this hotel for business travelers.

we just went to Xi'an to visit the terracota worriors, and it was a great experience. The hotel is beautiful, it's located on the best area of Xi'an, you can walk around the hotel, shop, dine and have some drinks. the staff was great, specially Sergio Silva at the lounge bar, excellent host! took his time to explain everything about the location, the hotel, to know about us better and offer us anything we needed at the bar lounge.

리셉션 체크인시 발음을 알아듣기 힘들었고 방배정은 2층의 아주 끝자리에 미로같은 구조에서 엘리베이터 타고 오르내릴때 참 짜증이남.

2층방에서 창문너머로 바로 앞에서 사람들이 지나다니고 왔다갔다 하는 모습을 보며
이런 구조의 호텔은 처음이어서 참...

체크인전 선결제가 된것을 몰라서 메시지를 여러번 보내고 전화를 시도했지만 안받거나 답이 없어서 그냥 체크인전부터 기대하지 않았음.

다만.

바로 앞에 파고다가 보이고 야경이 볼만하고
공원 등 위치적으로는 좋았지만 밤에 시끄러운 단점이 있음.

침대 침구는 마음에 듦.
티비는 옆에 배치되어 티비암으로 움직여서 봐야함.

Property is run down. AC not working, everything is just old, pool and gym area not in great shape.
No information is available in English and general level of English for a 5* Hotel is terrible.
Laundry service does not tell you how much it costs and ends up with prices higher than laundry services in 5* Hotels in Europe (~10€ for a shirt!!!)
