I booked late in busy season. The accomodation was close to everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room, bed and bedding were in excellent order and clean. I haven’t stayed in accomm like it before and was surprised and pleased with it. Would recommend it to anyone.

Overnight stay. Close to centre of town so an easy walk around the shops. Restaurant had a good menu and staff very friendly and helpful. Wednesday night and restaurant was full so this indicates the popularity and quality of the hotel.

Road trip overnight stay

Motel is on the main road but our room did not hear the road noise, however the refrigeration and central air conditioning motors provided a constant hum. Room was a queen with 2 seater couch, tv and bathroom. Our 4WD could not fit in the underground Carpark so we parked adjacent in the street, no problem. Rooms on 2nd floor but no elevator and the stairs are narrow. Nice place to stay. Meal in the restaurant was also very nice.

This was good value for money. Clean and spacious. One of the globes over the mirror needing changing - flashed on and off but in fairness I didn't report it to the Tavern. Bottom sheet was small and not able to be tucked in at the sides, a little troublesome. Was a bit noisy but not excessive - it is a Tavern after all. Would happily stay again. People friendly, dining options very good.

We had an enjoyable meal in the restaurant. Our room was clean and spacious. Check in at the pokies bar was a bit unusual and there was no obvious signage on the exterior of the building to indicate it was the Mitchell River Tavern. Also, the lack of a lift to our room upstairs was an inconvenience for bringing in luggage.

Nice little country tavern

It was a 1-night stopover on our way from the Snowy Mountains down to Melbourne. For the price that we paid, we could not fault it too much. There were a whole lot of stairs to climb from the basement car-park up to our room. Room was a little cramped but was clean and tidy. The bathroom was a good size and had been renovated. So was the corridor. Overall the place was in very good condition.

The street numbers were not listed on the building. Without the expedia photo it would have been much harder to find. The check in desk was unmanned when we arrived, but a staff member was quickly located and provided help.

All in all, happy with our decision to stay at the Mitchel River Tavern.

When we got there we didnt know where to go and check in then we found a sign that said go to gaming room for all enquiries.Then the one and only staff member finally told us to go to the gaming cashier to sign inw which i didnt think was appropriate.Then after a while we got to check in and as we walked in the door there was a sickning terrible smell of moldy wet carpet on the stairs also the bed was very old and hard with springs just about coming through. Overall not a good place to stay for the weekend we will not be going back there.

Central Location

We had a most enjoyable overnight stay at the Mitchell River Tavern. It was so central that we just parked in the undercover carpark and forgot the car. We walked the town in the late afternoon and then had dinner in the restaurant. Good food and very nice service as well.

A service focused business, when they are willing to help us, even after we've left the area. A huge thank you to Anita who took time to find and postal mail an item we had left behind. The room was very clean. A two stair case hike to our room from the carpark which is at street level under the building. Would stay there again.

Nice hotel, close to everything!!

It was a nice room. Rooms were clean and tidy. The staff was really friendly. We asked for ice and they gave us a jug to enjoy with our drinks.

Comfortable and convenient

This is the second time we have stayed at Mitchell River Tavern. Comfortable queen room with a very good bathroom. Convenient to Bairnsdale shopping and eateries. Friendly staff. Back stairs a bit of a challenge!

On my way to see Van Gogh and return

Most enjoyable stay. Well appointed room with a very comfortable and firm bed. Excellent dinner on the inbound trip. All round - Great Value!!

Great value on budget room.

We stayed in room 7. It was a small room, but that was expected for the price paid and the room had almost everything we needed for an overnight stay. Staff were very accomodating and friendly. Room was clean and fresh.

Room is small but tidy and clean, old style yet comfy, but it was a bit noisy in the middle of the night or towards morning when sky was still dark as the truck outside was emptying rubbish bins with glass bottles, took me half an hour to fall back to sleep.
