From the beginning, we got there they attended to every day they grabbed our bags, helped us at the reception desk gave us a beautiful room and wanted to do whatever we needed them to do. The staff was above and beyond the dinner was very close to being a top level restaurant. The breakfast was plentiful every morning. I think I was impressed that they always knew my name and they were easy to help us whenever we had an issue overall, I’m giving it a five star experience. I was so excited to say this because we came out of a hotel that only earned one star

A wonderful place to stay.

Just returned from a memorable 5 nights at Borgobianco and can highly recommend it. All the staff were attentive and friendly, particularly Desiree who welcomed us at breakfast each morning and helped us with places to visit and restaurant recommendations. The peaceful location was a highlight as was the traditional Apulia evening. Thanks to all the staff; we will definitely return.

For us this was the perfect choice and base for visiting local places of interest. Free shuttle to polignano a mare ! Short drive to Alberobello, Locorotondo, and Monopoli and Our favorite Matera ! We loved the pool area and restaurant and the AC in the rooms was good ! Clean towels twice a day and All the staff were a pleasure and treated us very very well ! Very grateful for making our visit so memorable ! The resort is a bit out of the way but is so nicely maintained around wonderful old olive trees and farmland ! We loved it !

I raised an issue with the experience on wifi during my stay which was not great. Meant I missed a very important work call.
Hotel is very tired and old. Needs refurbishment desperately. Staff were great and do a lot for you. However, small things like the hotel shuttle you’d assume it’s free but you charge €3 ! That to me is a joke. Not 5 star service. Profile on Expedia is not accurate. The hotel is a lot more tired and old in reality. For the cost of my stay it was very disappointing

I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel and couldn't be more pleased with my experience. The hotel has an authentic italian charm, it was impeccably clean, providing a private and comfortable stay.

The service was nothing short of amazing, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay.

One of my favorite features was the lovely patio terrace, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. The location is also ideal, just a 10-minute drive from the beautiful Polignano a Mare.

I can't wait to return in the future and enjoy this wonderful hotel again!

DONT WASTE YOUR $ NOT 5star. It is def not a 5star hotel. Lobby: completely outdated, old.I was in room 118 were the ac never worked, same as wifi (for 2 days). Pool: area is disgusting, all towels are old and threads are running out the edges. Sun beds are full of sunblock and ruined by dirt. The pool itself is turning black on patches, looks like mold, as if there was no maintenance. The staff never came to ask if we wanted something from the bar, instead they were flirting with other customers. We had to walk to the bar to make them pay attention. Music was a local radio. Unacceptable! The lifeguard was on her cellphone all day long and of you asked her something she would had an attitude . Room: ac shot down at 4 am in the morning. Called the front desk, a representative came to the room said there was nothing to do, that I needed to wait until the next day to make a complain. Electricity was shut twice. Next morning I asked to speak to the manager . The solution, a cooler/fan that was dripping water all over the floor, they had to put a towel beneath the machine to stop the water from running. There was a tooth pick on the bidé that was never cleaned in 48hr. Spa: had a couples Aphrodite massage. They were understaffed. Masseurs had jeans on. Only one massage bed. The other one was a wooden table no space to lay your head on (like a massage table). Was charged 200€ for it. I explained all to the manager twice, solution never worked. Portable wifi, not a 5star hotel

The property is a reminder about the old masseurs and the olive farms around the area, it is a unique setting as the views are the best and the gentle breeze from the ocean is awesome. The hotel is well located, but the bed was like a rock ( no joking) the sheets where super uncomfy and the cleanliness was none existing ! I removed the pillowcases from the pillows and they where all stained, asked twice to the reception to change them ( on an aged dirty phone) and they completely ignored me, literally no one came! I had to go search for the cleaning lady myself, ask her to change the pillows and she did it, but then she told me: “well it happens, we have lots of rooms and your not even on a suite …” When I did the check out I brought this to the guy in the reception and he told me oh sorry, with zero interest.
The sun beds where all dirty and stained, and NO ONE helps you with your luggage upon arrival or check out. So, for the price and the “5 stars rating “ you are far away from getting what you paid for.

Please note I received the spa discount but I didn’t use it. The property was very far from everything and there was no affordable taxis and the shuttle wasn’t always available. The shower drain was slow in both rooms I stayed in and I would expect better conditions for a VIP resort

Fabulous and luxurious hotel.

Having recently stayed here for the start of our holiday, we immediately stared to relax and unwind from the stresses of work.

Our initial welcome was warm, profession and friendly, despite all the personal distancing of COVID-19. This warmth was continued throughout our stay, with every single member of staff helping to ensure we had a great stay.

The room was a good size with all expected faciliies, the pool, bar and restaurant were also fabulous places to spend some time.

The overall look and feel of this hotel was fabulous, with many large and small courtyards to sit and relax with a book, a drink or chatting with companions.

I can recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious stay in the Puglia region.

Abysmal at best

I was really disappointed with our stay after having somewhat high expectations, especially given the Sofitel brand. Upon arrival I felt the location was a bit too remote and the hotel itself was unimpressive. Our room barely had air conditioning and the entire hotel is essentially without wifi. When we asked about the AC the woman at reception was disinterested and did little to offer a solution, never checking in to see if there had been any improvement. Since we were only there two nights we decided to just deal with the heat.
We also repeatedly asked about the wifi and were told it doesn't work well when a lot of people are on it, but there was no effort made to troubleshoot/help improve its' performance. They should not advertise as a hotel with wifi because it is non functioning.
One bright spot in an otherwise terrible experience was their willingness to help us locate a pharmacy when we encountered a stomach bug from bad seafood. They called and spoke to multiple pharmacies on our behalf to ensure we were able to get medicine before they closed.
Overall I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone - the grounds were unimpressive, the pool was frigid (jacuzzi was oddly the same temperature), the rooms were hot and uninviting (our bathroom had a sewage smell), wifi doesn't work, and the service was mediocre at best.

Nice setting and room - service is lacking

Pros: Nice location, rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable.

Cons: Staff let the place down - I ordered water and juice from the pool bar and despite there only a dozen or so people in the pool area and my partner and I lying right by the pool on sunbeds, they waitress said she couldn't find us on the one lap she did, so she let our drinks sit on the bar counter for 20 minutes and I had to walk over to get them. Breakfast food is good and in a nice area but it's riddled with wasps flying everywhere and no covers are placed on the food buffet so every time you go to get food, you have to swat away several wasps - not great if you are allergic! Also, I have an allergy to duck down so requested in my booking that my bedding either be synthetic pillows, duvet or cotton blankets. This request wasn't cared for and when I phoned housekeeping to request this, they said they didn't have any non-synthetic duvets or weight cotton blankets - something I've never come across at a 5 star hotel before when I make this regular request. When I went to the use the gym in the morning, I had to go through a laborious process of having the receptionist read out a liability waiver since there was no staff member to supervise me using the weights in the gym? I then had to fill in the waiver document and sign it - a bit of an overkill just to use some hand weights and a bit of a mood dampener when all you want to do is have a pleasant morning workout.

Beautiful hotel with fab shuttle service

Me and my two daughters shared a 3 bed suite in this hotel - it was so perfect. Everything that you would expect from a 5 star, with great service. The hotel is set in Olive groves, around 15 min shuttle ride from the centre of the town - this makes it so quiet and tranquil, an ideal place to sit back and relax. We combined relaxing with exploring some of the local areas including Arobello and a boat trip,during our 3 days stay, before continuing to Lecce. The staff went beyond what was expected, which added to our already lovely experience.

Surprising place, a haven of peace

Well the approach on unmade roads is not promising and it is certainly out of the hub of polignano but please don’t let this put you off. This is an idyllic place with views over the fields to the sea. It has all the spa facilities ,none of which we used but the pool area is great and the gardens with huge comfy chairs offer all you could want. Breakfast was super with lots of choice and you can ask the chef to cook anything you want . The staff are all helpful and you can ask reception for the shuttle bus into town at any time you want as long as you give a time to return. Dinner is amazing. High quality food at reasonable price. We ate in town and paid almost as much and the presentation ,ambience and quality did not compare. If you want to relax and pamper yourself or even if you want to just enjoy a lovely place to stay then I would say go here and you will leave feeling better.

Donato (Maitre D) (and Vito (the chef) are reason alone to return to this hotel!

Donato charmed us night after night, remembering the smallest details of our group and Vito was the master of Italian Fusion. What an incredible experience of flavor and hospitality.

Facility was clean, indoor heated pool amazing, staff couldn't be better with their eagerness to make our stay memorable.

A definite must for any traveler to Puglia.

Bounced out of hotel with only 3 days notice!

My wife and I booked this hotel earlier this year and were in the process of packing our bags in readiness for the vacation when we received notification from the hotel that they were moving us to another hotel in another part of Puglia without any prior notice or choice.
Their reasons? A large event was due to occur at the hotel that coincided with our intended stay, therefore no rooms would available that we had booked many weeks in advance.
Very little notice; no choice in where we ended up; only compensation was a bowl of fruit and a bottle of Prosecco on our arrival. This sort of customer care & attention is what I would expect from a dodgy 1 or 2 star hotel who wouldn't think twice about inconveniencing their clients for a few extra Euros!!

Tranquillity and comfort among the olive groves

We were looking for a mix of sightseeing and relaxing. We wanted a hotel with comfortable rooms, a pool, a restaurant, no loud music.
We read the reviews of the hotel and were concerned about some unhappy ones. However we thought it offered what we were looking for.
We spent our mornings visiting Alberobello, Matera, Locorotondo,Polignare e Mare, Ostuni, Lecce and Martina Franke. Towns with interesting sights and excellent coffee shops.All easily reached from Borgiobianco with a hire car.
The weather was good so we spent the afternoons by the pool (itself closed as it is unheated). When the sun went in we retreated to the Spa where the indoor heated pool was almost too hot to swim in but was an good jacuzzi.
Reception were very welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived to our departure. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful without exception.
The lounge bar has a television. The bar was open all day for coffee and drinks. They served the most scrumptious canapes with pre-dinner drinks and homemade biscuits with after dinner coffee.
The restaurant served a good buffet breakfast. Dinner was a la carte, four courses each with three choices. The menu of local produce changed every two days when we were there (early May) which limited our choices. We had excellent food, beautifully presented. About 60-70 Euros for 4 courses. Very good Puglian wine was about 20 Euros a bottle.
We had a very enjoyable week.

not a 5 star hotel

we decided to end our stay after 2 weeks of travelling around Puglia in this 5 star hotel. unfortunately it didn't live up to our expectations. this is more a 4 star hotel. the resort itself is very nice and private but it is not up to 5 star standards. I checked in to this hotel on my birthday, to my disappointment no one acknowledged that it was my birthday. I've stayed in Dubai and Bali and the hotel go our of their way to make you feel special. the breakfast was fine nothing special, service quiet slow. it is a 10 minutes drive to the centre on a bumpy road.

1. - it is not on the water as suggested
2. -We paid extra for a sea view room - the sea was 5 mile away
3. -Dinner the firs night fish was not cooked - they didn't care - not taken off bill.
4. - we were ther 5 nights - the closed the restarant for 4 of the 5 nights for a large group. No bar food, no room service. except for breakfast - go out and eat.
5. - The big group partied in the courtyard until late in the evening. We asked to have the noise lowered but no use. We even caled Expedia and asked them to call the hotel & complain. The person from Expedia could hear the noise in the back ground and called the hotel. He said they would not do anything.
6 - We went to the bar and asked if they ahd any bar food such as nuts etc. - No all you can do is drink. There was a table set up, looked like dining for two. We asked what that was for and they said \"Some special guests\" - We sais \"Arn't we special\" and the waiter went off, came back & said they would provide us meals the same as the large group.

We stayed at the Borgobianco for three nights. It was our first stop on our tour of Puglia. Although it was a bit difficult to find it was worth the inconvenience. It is a very lovely spa hotel within easy reach of Alborobello and some of the interesting sites of Puglia. A very tranquil setting and the cleanliness of the hotel was exemplary. Quality of service was excellent. Hotel location was up an unmade road but the sight of the hotel at the end was very impressive. The staff were very helpful and their English was extremely good. Breakfast was absolutely lovely with fruit, hams, etc and the pastries were delicious.

Tranquil and beautiful

A car is an absolute must as the hotel is in a gated complex and some way away from the beach and nearest town of Polignano a Mare. Be prepared for a VERY expensive stay at the hotel - all menus inexplicably are unpriced. When we enquired about a taxi ride into the town we were told it would be thirty euros there, thirty euros return (by the reception staff at the hotel). We did not check with a taxi firm and it certainly seemed excessive for a 10 minute drive. The staff were faultless - charming and helpful and very friendly. The menus were limited though and it would have been great if a more rustic, authentic, down-to-earth Puglian menu was offered with more realistic prices - as we found when we explored the nearby towns of Monopoli, Alberobello and Martina Franca - all beautiful and well worth seeing. I think if the hotel offered a regular, free shuttle service into Polignano for hotel guests, and veered away from the rather stiff, formal (and very expensive) menus, it would definitely be a hotel we would return to - everything else is absolutely gorgeous.

Significantly overrated hotel, belongs in the 3 stars /low 4 stars category. Rooms/furniture are very old, used. Food is around a weak taverna. But the taverna would use fresh ingredients. This hotel (dinner) lives from defrosting. Service peaple are not trained, have low attention to customers. Reception is okay however. Still, no recommendation, far too expensive for what they offer and really to poor food quality for Italy. Don't waste your vacation days.

Service, gentillesse des collaborateurs, propreté ! Tout était là pour passer de bonnes vacances. Les chambres sont agréables et propres, le personnel est au petit soin souriant et bienveillant. Le petit déjeuner est parfait. La piscine très propre et agréable. Nous avons souper au restaurant et franchement c’est le meilleur restaurant que nous ayons fait : qualité des produits et très bonne cuisson.
