1st time staying at the hotel; place looks pretty well renovated/maintained in common areas.

Rooms although clean, weren't as well maintained.

Cafe was comical! Toaster caught fire and non of the staff present were bothered with attending to it.

Hotel claimed not to accept credit cards and insisted I went to a nearby ATM to withdraw cash to settle my bill. Took them close to 30mins before my check out was completed.

Overall stay was still acceptable, but will not return in future.

Good location with food stalls nearby, They have a rather ridiculous policy by requesting guests to sign a gurantee to ensure thier visitors do not smoke in the room, otherwise a penalty is imposed, It should be the other way round since it is a non-smoking hotel, Value for money

Pros: convenient for food, transport, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, cheap price

Cons: Lack of facilities such as gym and pool. The mini gym condition is nt good enough for a proper workout

Conclusion. If u just up for sleeping, then its the best thing u can get. But if u need to hit the gym, enjoy in hotel. U might need to consider another hotel.

Clean, friendly, but noisy

Basic corporate stye hotel. Large breakfast buffet. Clean and presentable.
However, it was very noisy; they play loud piped music into the corridors outside the rooms until 10pm, which can be clearly heard inside the room. Also the hotel is designed with a central atrium going all the way up the inside of the building which means all noise made on the ground floor (people arriving and departing / reception / checking in / checking out / large groups at breakfast) carries right up throughout the building to all floors.
A minor point - the room was booked with a "City View" - but instead of curtains the windows in all rooms are painted out for privavcy, so there is no view, city or otherwise.

Best Medan city hotel

We took the airport shuttle train into Medan which was easy and quick . Our stay in Medan was just for two nights as a transit stop over. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet was amazing and we were able to leave bags in storage while we went to Simeulue.

Noting special.. the only convenient is eating place right at the back of the hotel.
The hotel was advertised for SGD32 per night... I booked for 2 nights:-
Therefore SGD32/- X 2 nights = SGD64/- plus Govt tax x Amt = SGD72-79 or something.
But I was charged for Rp1.100.000 or about SGD106/-
So, I thought it could be including deposit.. but it was not. Total paid Rp1.100.000 + refundable Rp400.000.
Very misleading pricing system .

Firstly the counter check in staff weren't friendly and no smile on her face. I felt like she is forcing herself to be polite.

King Bed and toiletries
The bedlinen wasn't clean. Not sure whether the hotel change the bed sheets and the pillowcase. I still can see the yellow and black stain under the blanket. Lucky I brought my own body and hair shampoo. Hotel has provided shampoo but didnt mention for body or hair.

Air-Conditional
The aircond blower is very noisy. We can hear the noise is getting louder if temperature turn to low.

Breakfast
You get the standard breakfast in 3 stars hotel. Acceptable but I think hotel can do better to provide more choices. Reduce the sugar in food such as desert, cake and yogurt.

Sufficient for what we wanted

We only stayed for two nights so this was fine for what we wanted. Rooms are basic and clean, shower was really good. Towels provided. There was a big buffet for breakfast and it was very delicious.
Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The only negative was our driver for our tour we booked did not show up so we asked at reception to use their phone to call up to see where they were. They said we had to use the phone in our room and were reluctant to help us. They charge you to use the phone in your room. I found it a little unfair under the circumstances. It was only a couple of phone calls.

Not really ok.

Having paid for the rooms in advance online, the staff insist on a deposit while checking in, one has to pay again. It gets refunded upon checkout.
Unfortunately, we forgot a few toiletries and expensive chargers in the room. 2 hours later we call, the staff simply claim it isn't there. I hope Grand Swissbell will be better when I travel to Medan next.
Breakfast isn't just worth mentioning. Better stick to omelettes and bread.

Overall, the stays for 3 days 2 nights are perfectly fine... suspicious room... just the room which we stayed without window... a little uncomfortable smell... and need improvement for the front line where some of them can't understand english... required bell boy service to remove the luggage, waited for 15mins after the call to the reception, nobody turn up and I have to remove the luggages ownself..

Hotel does not provide face cotton. But the plus side is the staff is friendly, when request for hair dryer, delivered within 5 minutes, the location is near very good food and walk distance to Semarang. The room is big, there is connecting room for family, clean and comfortable bed to rest yourself after whole day shopping.

Nice and cheap hotel in city

We stay one night only.Fast check in.Location convenience in the centre of city.Twins big bed. When enter the room ,room smelly due the air conditioner is slow to cold.The shower drainage need to repair due the water cannot go fast.The water tab is dirty,yellowish water.We need to do early check out at 4 am,the staff is very nice offer us if we take out the breakfast or not.location near Semarang Street which sell many food.There is a convenience store downstair.

For the length of 5 nights I stayed there they didn't clean the toilet.

I used taxi a lot and it was not comfortable with the process of getting into the taxi because every time my taxi that was ordered arrived they were asked for money by the local illegal parking guy.

I understand it is the way it is in Medan but certainly the hotel management can do something to make the guest feels comfortable.

Good locations for foods, located right in the chinatown of medan.

Budget Hotel and Good Location for food lover

We are satisfied with the hotel services - especially the young driver- Prima who fetched us from the airport, took us around in Medan City tour and also our trip to Taman Simalem n Brastagi. A v responsible driver n caring. The desk front staff was friendly. The 3 superior rooms we booked, 2 had strong damp smell. On the 2nd day of our stay, my sis was given a v stain bath towel, the floor towel was much cleaner than that. But upon complaint, a clean one was replaced.

Good Hotel for quick adaptative people

The stay at the Hotel was good, but some negative points go for it. First, the room was smelly. for initial time it was bothering after some time, we got used to it. Second, there was no window for outside in most rooms. Third, the tiles and marbles were come in black color that passed us a negative energy. Forth, There was no any drainage at toilet and on the floor, so always the floor was wet and consequently the room became wet.

The Hotel its OK , but most of all its paradise for food seeker like us ,
Near to Jl Semarang (food street center) and Selat Panjang (behind this Htl) famous food stall in Medan .
Its not far to some interest places like Tjong A Fie Mansion , Tip Top bakery & ice cream , Mesjid Raya & Maimoon Palace , Train Station .

Great for someone looking for a comfy bed and minimal amenities. The food stalls nearby has some good street food. Access to shopping centres would be by taxis. Medan Mail is nearby but limited shops and is an older mall. Access to train station for airport transfer is good. Overall, location good for someone who needs to stay within Medan City Centre. Aircon works and stays in range of 23-24 degrees. Buffet breakfast is sufficient and food gets replenished as needed. Service is good and staff speaks sufficient English.

Nice and good hotel but the traffic so congested.

Because of the heavy traffic around, you will waisted your time for about half an hour in the taxi for doing nothing. So bad and useless. But that's is normal as they said.
There are a lot of taxi just in front the hotel. You will not find any problems about transportation. Becareful about the taxis rate.

First time in Medan

The Swiss belinn Medan was centrally located within the city, with tourist attractions within walking distance.
Breakfast had wide choice of Asian food as well as toast, cereals, waffles, pancakes and omelettes cooked to order.
There is a night food market nearby with plenty of choices for dinner if you are looking for good cheap street food...we had the best satey chicken.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here.
