Overall service was good. Food was average. Would be nice if a kettle is provided in room.
Castle is right beside so it’s great for 1st time visitor. Best to include breakfast when you book your room as nothing around the hotel except the castle. Being high up in the mountain with a great view.
There was no water in the rooms this morning but eventually fixed. The key card did not work so well, lights were all off for 3 times during our two nights stay.

Check in was good. Unfortunately a strong smell of what seemed like sewage in the entrance. There had been heavy rain recently so maybe why?

We booked a Junior Suite which was two huge rooms. Front room was a little bare but had a big sofa bed and a small TV. Bedroom felt warmer and had a nice four poster bed and another TV.

Bathroom excellent with a nice shower and jetted bathtub.
Bathrobes and towels were of a good quality.

We booked half board which is worth it. Excellent dinner with huge portions that were nicely presented and great quality. Patience is needed as our dinner started at 8.30pm and ended at 10.55pm. Pricing for wine and drinks was very good with excellent wine.

We did not use the pool. Views are amazing even on a rainy day. The area of Lorca below is quite modern and built up. I had thought it was in more of a rural area. Parking is free and during the hot summer months has shaded screens. Overall would be happy to stay here again

Excellent location at the Castillo. Good sized room, very clean. Very comfortable mattress.
The main problem is the town is far below and hard work to walk to and from. For this reason we ate in the hotel restaurant as we couldn't face another walk up the hill.
In fact it turned out to be an exceptional restaurant.

Rooms old fashioned but spotlessly clean. Staff mixed. Some really nice, some gave the impression They could not care less. Bar area lacking in any kind of ambience and a bit of an afterthought. Also constantly having to find staff to order/ pay for drinks. Great meal there first time, awful second time. I felt like the chef was on his night off the 2nd visit. Need to work on consistent service in my opinion. Unfortunately I would not return

It c was just what we needed, a complete chill out. After a hectic few months where the stress off life had taken hold we booked this long weekend away. The staff were really attentive in all departments. The spa facilities and treatments were superb. Dining in the restaurant and the cafe were delightful and the breakfast was really very good.

Lovely location, staff excellent and friendly, restaurant food was faultless 5* at least. In general the hotel is wonderful.
Room felt little basic and dull lighting, lacking some of the little touches you expect in 4* hotel, e.g. no free water in room, no bathroom essentials.
Having said that was wonderful experience and would stay again but maybe in upgrade room.

Will become from now on a client for this hotel chain "Paradores" We stayed during the Electric blackout and the generators worked perfectly for everything, elevators, and kitchen. The breakfast is superior with many options and eggs cooked for each guest.

Hotel is beautifully built and is a special in how’s it’s been constructed next to the castle. But there’s aspects we felt let it down - the swimming pool was freezing (it can’t be heated apparently) & so was too cold to swim. A charge to use the spa (which we paid) & it really wasn’t worth the money. Choice of food limited & no nice bar space to sit and have a drink.

Spectacular location, up next to old castl. Our window looked out on castle at sunrise. Staff was helpful; loaned us a cellphone recharger cable for one we had lost and told us where to buy another. Hotel seemed strangely empty in afternoon and evening, but in the morning at check-in checkout there were plenty of people. To get to hotel, take GPS option that avoids mid-town. Both of our GPS options got lost trying to take routes that went by Plaza España.

DISAPPOINTING

This was the 4th Parador of our trip and our expectations were high, because it’s set in the grounds off an archaeological site featuring ruins dating back to the 10th century. Maybe this is why we were sooo disappointed. When you’re in the lobby with all that grandeur you would expect you room to be to par; unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The room was smallish, dark, with tiny windows, cheap-looking furniture, and in dire need of some paint. The bathroom wall and ceiling were a disgrace, and shower glass and hairdryer hook need repair. I must admit that the view was nice. The dining room had no charm and the chef didn’t seem to know what he was doing. My husband asked for a filet mignon medium-rare and the meat came completely raw, (the cow was still mooing). Unlike the other 3 Paradores, this one had no complimentary bottle of water and coffee/tea maker. Nowhere around to buy anything , plus the road to go up and down is very narrow and dangerous with a flimsy wooden guardrail. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Need a courtesy bus down into the town.

Parador Hotel is adjacent to the castle and as such is very convenient for a visit there.
The hotel is of a high standard in both condition and cleanliness. Although we didn’t have time to use them the hotel has both a spa and pool which look great. Note the hotel is not a short walk from the town and the location is steep.

Room not worth the £150+ nightly charge for B & B. Very small room, limited cell like view, no kettle or coffee machine, no complementary water provided, no dressing gowns or slippers. The Spa is a total rip-off at 35 euros when many guests clearly use the facility without paying. The indoor pool temperature was cold. Access to the town only possible by taxi, hotel could do with a minibus service. At breakfast, good range but poor quality on offer. Fried eggs were like rubber and cold. Only branded packaged cereals, no decent muesli. Limited choice on menu for dinner, unimpressed with service or quality of food on offer. Would not return to this hotel at any price!

Unfortunately this could have been a very good stay but the customer service reply to a disappointing breakfast lets it down. The room was nice but some things are aging e.g. the handle in the shower is super wobbly. At breakfast, which isn't cheap at nineteen per head, I asked for just a plate of scrambled eggs (the self-serve buffet is only cold or ambient food), and after 27 minutes I ask if the eggs on the trolley of food coming out is mine and was told it was for another table - the server pointing at the table of 10 which arrived after I had asked for the eggs. It should not take so long for eggs to come. I sent an email to the hotel to explain my experience and was told: "We are so sorry to hear about your experience at breakfast. We will forward your complaint to the restaurant team. We hope to receive you on another occasion." ... I thought I would at least be offered a discounted breakfast on my next stay but instead I will not be visiting again.

A treat at the end of a long climb

This hotel is a real treat, in an amazing location in the grounds of Lorca Castle. Access is gained via a steep, twisty road that rewards you with stunning views across the Murcian countryside. It is a fair distance to the pleasant town centre so it seemed that most of the guests ate in the restaurant where the food was delicious and served by friendly, professional staff. A visit to the castle is a must, just make sure you pack very sensible footwear as there is a lot of climbing to do.

Beautiful Parador

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay as a base to explore the Lorca area. On the whole (apart from one young man on reception for 2 of the nights we were there who was quite abrupt and appeared to present as someone we were interupting) the staff were amazing often going above and beyond to improve our stay. The rooms were spacious, well appointed, clean and comfortable. There were 2 restaurants, one was silver service and one was more bar style meals, both had good menus and were good value for money. The continental breakfast was included in the price of our stay and included an excellent choice of food. The indoor pool was free to use, towels were provided and it was perfect for a bit of exercise. All spa use and treatments had to be paid for. The only thing we were disappointed about was the hotel didn't have an outdoor pool or even a sun terrace which we felt was a shame given everything else it had to offer. The hotel is built within the well preserved ruins of Lorca Castle and the history attached to the ruins is very interesting.

A museum of greatness!

Booked this some time ago based on reputation and friends recommendation. This was a trip for 9 people to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday, so wanted to set up a few surprises in advance which Upon contacting the hotel I found out I could not do until booked it. I was now concerned! Anyway, the stay was great, the staff were great, the rooms were great, bar area and restaurant all great great!! Some aspects of the hotel felt like a museum, in a good wa! The stay has prompted me to look at other parador hotels across Spain for potential future trips.

A truly amazing place. High up on a mountain, modern facility surrounded by an ancient past. Hiking trails were beautiful but the best was the food. We only spent one night at Parador de Lorca. It is a very nice property in an unusual location. The room was very comfortable and the staff was helpful.
The road to this hotel is a little tricky - hard to follow GPS through Lorca and a windy road up to the top where the hotel is situated, but if you are a confident and experienced driver, you will find your way. We did not have dinner in the restaurant, but rather had some small plates and sangria in the bar area. We also did not have the full breakfast, but just some cafe con leche and delicious fresh bread and butter in the dining room. We felt this hotel was reasonably priced and was a good stopping point on our drive.

Spa area costs 24 euros each for 1.5 hours and then it’s not much of a spa, think 1980s leisure center and you are not far off the mark, not luxurious and abit grubby in need of a refit / update as we got bored after 10 minutes in there. The reception staff were not as friendly as I would have expected. Helpful to a point but a bit brusque at times. The map that they had of Lorca was rather pathetic and they didn’t tell us about the best Tourist Info centre in town.
They were prompt however in seeing to a rather nasty smell in the bathroom!
The waitress in the cafeteria was splendid and most helpful.
Our one restaurant dinner was a disappointment with undercooked cod and a pretty tasteless piece of corvina, hence our choice it eating in the cafeteria.
But value for money, it was excellent.

Amazing building on a hill. Great architecture and nice size room with a view of Alfonso tower. We enjoyed the hotel facilities, had a swim and visited the castle. The terrace cafe/bar is lovely and the restaurant good. Restaurant didn’t open until 8.30 so busy at that time. Slow to take order but food came at a reasonable speed and was good. We took a bus ( which ended up being a mini bus taxi) in to Lorca the next day. Saved driving and parking. Great value. Brilliant experience. Lovely place.

The road going up to the hotel could be challenging in the dark and if it rain.

Combines history with luxury in a unique setting, Fantastic views all round and the restaurant is a gastronomic delight. We didn't use the Spa so I can't comment but it looked great. We walked around the Castle using an audio tour and the real life guide around the recently discovered Synagogue was very good. Make sure you have a head for heights!

Commanding 360 deg views from Eagles Nest location

The Parador at Lorca I s located on top of a small but barren mountain top and offer fantastic 360 degree views onto Lorca below and the surrounding countryside. This is a remote location and to access to town and the nearest restaurant requires transportation - hence we ate at the Parador restaurant throughout our stay. The food is first rate - but the menu could do with regular changing to offer variety to longer staying guests.
The Parador at Lorca is once again a first class example of how careful planning can tastefully fuse modern themes with the old. The layout of the modern "hotel accommodation" is first class. The rooms are spacious and modern.
Don't bother about the Spa - this is a major let down and no more than a glass partition to the main swimming pool area. Furthermore access to the Spa facilities come at an additional charge - unlike other hotels that we have stayed at where Spa access to guests is free. A major area for improvement would be imposition of a strict Spa etiquette. Unlike the web-site pictures the Spa is far from calm and sedate. When we were there the Spa pool and Jacuzzi were noisy and over crowded - there were also kids with armbands using the Spa pool. The Spa treatment rooms also leave a lot to be desired. As suggested - don't bother. The pool area is more than adequate.
The staff at the restaurant were wonderful and attentive. We could not have asked for better.
Car parking is provided in an area reserved for Parador guests.

Birthday Celebration

The Parador in Lorca is the best part of any visit. We were disappointed with the local area and spent our time visiting Aguilas on the coast. We returned to the Parador for evening meals. The was no other acceptable option.

Fabulous time in the Parador de Lorca. Beautiful hotel. Views to die for. Couldn't fault anything except one female waitress serving drinks and food on outside terrace. Made a mistake with my drink and when I asked her to change it our service went downhill

Lovely hotel, nice panoramic location.
If you plan to visit Lorca town and wish to leave your car at the hotel, factor in €25 for taxi fares; it is almost impossible to walk down from the hotel.
