Chic Alesund Residential Hotel

Hotel was in a beautifully restored turn of the 19th /20th century gray stone building with a very stylish 21st century interior in the lobby, the hallways, the restaurant and in the individual room. Eventhough I paid for standard room, we must have been upgraded to small suite as it had an amazing bathroom with bathtub and shower. The bed and linens were very comfortable; it was hard to get up early from the bed for early Fjord boat trip. There was a table with four chairs.

Norway Fjord Adventure

Alesund, Norway is absolutely picturesque! A Norwegian fairy tale of endless Fjords, majestic mountains and beauty beyond words. Our planned one night turned into three because we loved it so much! The scenic route from Geiranger to Trollstigen to see waterfalls, canyons, trolls & crystal clear glacier lakes is well worth the time—it’s a must to fully appreciate the beauty of the Fjords. Winding down at night with Sauna & Cold Plunging is just the Nordic way. Our stay at the Quality Hotel Waterfront Alesund was perfect. Great location, clean rooms, hospitable staff, excellent free full breakfast and I’ll say it again, every employee was SO nice, SO accommodating and that is not always the case these days.

A lovely hotel with lovely staff - particularly in the restaurant and bar. We had a great waterfront room which had a fabulous view. Breakfast was fantastic. Only negative is that the parking for hotel guests is so expensive, so would recommend to try and find somewhere else to park

Clean & comfortable. Access to floors 3 & 4 odd, have to take 2 elevators. Public parking in front is based on 24 hour periods, can get stuck paying more than necessary or get a ticket if you miss adding time by just 5 minutes. Weekend breakfast didn't start until 7:30, a challenge if you need to get going early.

The hotel location was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. There were issues with the fire alarm on our last night there and we were awakened by more than 20 minutes of sirens and announcements after midnight which was not pleasant.

Poor customer service! Was told I can have free early check in at 12noon whatever room they have available and specified I need a room with city view. Went out and came back late 5pm and only 2 options are there. One with ongoing construction and accessiblity room. Chose the latter but change my mind if I can have a room in the new bldg . I waited for more than an hour . Had I not call the reception, I will be waiting forever. Clogged shower drainage, flooding the bathroom floor-ask housekeeping to check to find oit there were tons of hair down there even she was surprised to see it-“looks like a rat” quoting her. Facial tissue empty, do not refill coffee/tea and did not wash the glassses used! Need to re orient staffs and interns-inform guests about housekeeping policy(not everyday) and customer service. I was surprised that when I came back late the room was not made and clean and refreshed. In all my 3 day stay I only hot 1 housekeeping service. (8/10-13)
Hotel is nice by the waterfront, breakfast buffet good spread but same everyday.
A nice guy on checked out day was nice to offer a free coffee while waiting for my cab at 6am. He was the only nice one there-8/13.

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, quiet and clean. We had a late night ferry departure and the hotel was gracious enough to allow us to use their lounge area for an extended period. And, their breakfast buffet was great as well.

We loved this hotel and Alesund! Its got a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great decor. I use a mobility scooter and we were given a very big room that made it easy to drive and park my scooter in without it being a trip hazard for myself and my blind partner. The wet room was great with a shower chair.
The view from the hotel bar and restaurant is absolutely incredible across the river to the stunning snow topped mountains and the food is great too. Delicious and varied breakfast buffet and excellent evening meals. Its five mins walk to the stunning art noveau centre of Alesund and the buses and dock where we got the boat for our Geiranger Fjord day trip.

A few small things that could be changed : Could have done with a little platform for my toiletries in the shower as nowhere to put them which was difficult and some more wardrobe space as it was very minimal. Also there was no room service which would have helpful esp as both have disabilities.
Overall a fabulous experience and would highly recommend if going to beautiful Alesund!

Good location expensive parking

The hotel was in a good location just a few minutes walk from the centre. Parking was expensive at 250 NOK a day and no concession at the hotel. Madeleine on reception was a real star ⭐️

Be careful when selecting room

Disappointed about the room, whose windows face inside the stairwell of the hotel (no windows facing outside the building).

Part of the window is not transparent, but the top part of the window is transparent and can be seen through by people walking in the main staircase outside, unless curtains are closed.

We asked the staff about this, but they declined to give us a new room, as the room information is stated when booking. The part about people being able to view inside the room is, however, not stated.

Only later did I see that it is indeed stated that the "room has no windows", but in a very inconspicuous way on the hotels.com website. My take-away from this is to always look very carefully at room description when booking from now on.

Har mange allergier og hadde med eget brød. Typisk norsk hotellfrokost med stor variasjon og generelt dårlig merking for allergener. Men fersk røykelaks i god kvalitet og norsk majones er nok for meg.
Resepsjonisten var imøtekommende, vennlig og litt spøkefull, akkurat slik det skal være.
Rommet var rent og pent, fine bilder og heilt vanvittig fullfasade utsikt mot Hessa og Sula.

Mooi hotel, dicht bij het centrum.

Mooie kamer, alles tiptop, makkelijk om te parkeren onder het hotel. Wel een ticketje nemen, en de parking is heel duur. De reuzachtige cruiseschepen meren wel aan voor het hotel en belemmeren zo het prachtige uitzicht. Zeer jammer, want je betaalt extra voor een kamer met zicht ... op een cruise-reus ...

Das Hotel ist sehr schön renoviert. Es gibt ein paar zusätzliche Aktivitäten. Der Fitnessraum ist sehr gut. Lobby ist toll hergerichtet und man fühlt sich sofort angekommen.
Bei unserem Zimmer hatten wir einen tollen Blick in den Hafen. Leider gabe es im Badezimmer einen Bewegungsmelder, der ewig brauchte um wieder auszugehen. In der Nacht etwasnervig. Wenig Möglichkeiten etwas aufzuhängen.

Rundtur på Vestlandet

Helt greit.
Trang dusj med glassdør som hadde fast stilling inn i dusjen som gjorde dusjrommet enda mindre.(Sikkert ikke generelt)
Positivt med kjøleskap på rommet.
Gode senger .
Dyrt å parkere bil (ca. Nok 300,- pr. døgn.
Sentrumsnært.
(Regnvær, men det er ikke hotellets skyld)

Flott og vennlig hotell .

Veldig god service ved innsjekk. Fikk et flott rom med to soveavdelinger, noe somnpasset fint da vi reiste med to barn. Dette for samme pris som annet rom. Nydelig frokost, fin beliggenhet midt i sentrum. Rolig nabolag.
