This resort was less than expected. At first I did nlt get the room view I picked from Expedia and had to claim. After my claim I felt mistreated based on my race as well. They did not have any birthday courtesies. Later I found out they did but categorized based on ethnicity. I originally reserved as single but later my parents came along. The place did not have ammenities out on beach or water tours for 3 or 2 o 1 person. The place was not spotless but decent clean. Pool lounches have stain spots and also beach towels have stains. Pool became un maintenance on 04/07/26 assuming it was \"low season\" [bizarre]. And main activities start thursdays thru saturday so there is nothing for the other natural days. Restaurants like DUNAS do not offer food all week so its a mislead. It was not worth 100% the price paid. I was dissapointed and expected more.

We booked a one-bedroom suite, which was very spacious and great for traveling with kids. The location is beautiful—right by the Pacific Ocean—with a nice beach and multiple pools, including kid-friendly ones.

However, the experience was inconsistent. Breakfast was okay and service there was attentive, but we had major delays in food service twice (waiting nearly an hour), including at the Japanese restaurant.

More concerning was a serious food safety issue. My wife has a severe shellfish allergy, which we clearly communicated when ordering. Despite this, she had an immediate allergic reaction after a few bites and we had to rush back to the room for medication. Completely unacceptable.

Communication was also difficult, as many staff members did not speak or understand English well. When I reported the allergy incident, the manager only apologized, there was no follow-up, and no one even asked about our stay at check-out.

Overall, great location and family-friendly setup, but service, communication, and safety fall short. Not a luxury experience.

Absolutely stunning property with great staff and service.
Exceptionally clean, great rooms, heavenly beds, great food/restaurants, beautiful beach and pool area. The shuttle service is very helpful for the massive property. Didn't get to golf this trip but the course is in great condition as well. The place is dead after 9pm, which wasn't an issue for us but could be to some people who are looking for some sort of nightlife/bars. If possible fly into the new airport to avoid the 2 hour drive from Tocumen (new airport is 15 mins away) but not a big issue either way. Will absolutely be visiting again!

The first room they gave us was dirty and had a dead roach on the floor. Also didn’t have hot water. The second room was cleaner but still water was not hot and room had very poor lighting. Shower head has to be replaced as it splashes everywhere except directly down. Pool areas were nice.

Wonderful property clean, well serviced, plenty of choice for food including a small market on site. The staff were friendly, service was steady weather at the pool, lounge or restaurants. Overall a great stay, golf was a 5 minute shuttle away and the conditions were great. The property seemed to be around half capacity at a maximum, never an issue for dinner times, chairs by the pool etc.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The room had unforgettable view. Pacific Ocean beach is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Balcony was overlooking the beautiful river and palm trees with golf course. Staff were courteous, friendly and attentive. Our family of 4 stayed for 2 nights and had a great time.

We booked a suite at this beautiful hotel as a couple, hoping to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible due to a neighboring room occupied by a family with several children and a barking dog. We reported the issue that night, but by checkout the next morning, there was no record of our complaint. I ended up waiting nearly an hour while multiple staff members tried to address the situation. For a reputable establishment, I expected more acknowledgment and consideration for the disruption we experienced.

We stayed for 9 beautiful days in this location. The setting is absolutely gorgeous with thick vegetation, beautiful buildings and pools. The grounds are well maintained. The beaches are stunning! The service at the restaurants, reception, rooms, pools and concierge desk is fantastic. The food is great eventhough not all restaurants are open due to visiting in the winter season for Panama. The tiramisu and red velvet cake were amazing! Probably the best we ever had! There were too many people that offered excellent service but Juan Carlos from Criollo stood out for us. Always there, with a smile and excellent service every single day! The spa has excellent service and the massages we got were up there with the best! Great facilities too with a hot tub, sauna and showers as well as a fabulous quiet waiting room. Lots of activities can be arranged depending on what you want to do through the tour desk. The city is easily accessible by car or tour. We had a fabulous time visiting Casco Viejo, Panama Viejo and the canal on a private tour. Also had a great rum tasting at El Galante microdistillery. The only thing that could use a little bit of improvement is the rooms (they are a little tired) but the room service and cleanliness are top notch! The hotel has a very reliable internet service throughout the property. Overall a 10/10 for us. Loved it here and would recommend it to anyone.

Our experience at Beunaventura was nothing short of amazing. The property is so beautiful, it’s basically a botanical garden. Everything is meticulously taken care of. The property is massive with unparalleled beauty at every corner. The staff is attentive and discrete. They seem always available and attentive to your needs. People greeted me by name. Awesome facility, clean and neat. Well laid out, beautiful pools and landscaping. Very nice beaches private with lifeguards. Only down graded on condition because our shower door seal leaked, once reported maintenance kind of fixed it. But staff was super responsive. Oh, but don't drink the water.

What an AMAZING oasis!

From the moment we walked in, Arnold at the desk warmed our souls with his radiant smile and very personable demeanor.

Ivan in the bar/lounge was just as gracious and poured us several great cocktails.

We had a blast with Luis who drove us to a nearby restaurant on the resort property. His English was wonderful, and his stories were welcomed.

EVERYONE at the facility was warm and greeted us with smiles.

Our room was clean, the views spectacular, and the prices fair.

If we ever make it back to Panama, we'll DEFINITELY visit again.

My daughter and I spent three nights here in Feb. We absolutely loved it! The grounds, pools, and beach are beautiful. We loved the Japanese restaurant - and the store on site has a TON of food options. During our stay, we were able to use the cute bicycles to ride around - and we took a van to the Buena entura Zoo too. If we stayed an extra day, we would have done an adventure -type activities (lots of options for fun things to do!).To get to the hotel, we took an Uber from Panama City and the hotel helped us arrange transport to the airport. All very easy. I highly recommend this gem and can't wait to return someday.

The grounds around the hotel are stunning, golf course, zoo, big villas. The room was very clean. the staff were very helpful and pleasant. But the facilities, especially the pools are in extreme need of repairs. Half the tiles were coming off or crumbled. The towels at the pool are extremely small. I had the worst tasting pina colada at the pool. All that said I would stay again, but I wouldn't give it 5 star.

Ok but not worth the price tag, outdated

Common grounds are beautiful, however it seems that rooms haven’t been updated in many years, and need major improvements. The rooms for 4 are sold on 2 full beds, really hard to sleep for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. It’s completely overpriced for how bad the quality of the rooms currently are. It’s not a 5 star hotel for the price tag.

The property is nice but service is terrible if you need towels or anything delivered to your room it will never get delivered. We were at the pool and they had no towels. Basically the entire hotel had no towels and we were told they were in the laundry. Really don’t expect that from a Marriott.

We had a wonderfulr time at Buenaventura and will come again soon. Our only concern was that the property could use some well deserved repairs. The pool close to the hotel was in disrepair and roof tiles were broken all over the property. We loved the El Faro pool area.

There is so much to do on the property and the proximity to restaurants, beach, and pools is great. We took a shuttle to the other side of the “campus” to eat one night. El Valle an hour up the mountain; would love to come again and check out the area more, fishing, golf, etc.

Absolutely loved my stay here.
Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
The pools were clean and although at times busy, wasn’t too noisy.
Many great food options without having to leave the property.

Rooms and balcony are spacious. Beds & pillows super comfortable. Amenities in the rooms were great.

The property and rooms were clean overall, but definitely aged and could use some refreshing.

A little slice of paradise. The staff were amazing. It was nice to have staff that could also speak English as we know very little Spanish. The grounds were immaculate. The room was spacious, comfortable, and luxurious. The staff was also most accommodating when I accidentally left some personal belongings in our room after checking out in going back to the room and retrieving them for me, including the jewellery that I didn’t even realize I had left behind. There was a wide variety of restaurants to choose from on-site and a variety of pool options, as well as areas on the beach. A most beautiful complex.

We noticed deterioration to pool areas. Beach club is long ways for seniors to get there. Beach area is steep to waters edge ....older people can forget accessing it. The bed was not that good for a 4 star Marriott property. As a previous platinum member I expected better. The shower head needs updating. One last thing the room serviceprinted menu steak price was out of date; it showed $22 yet each yet we were billed $32. When I brought it up to front desk upon check out I was told a manager would have to be summoned who they couldn't seem to find. We had to leave so it never got resolved. We thought performance would be better from a resort advertised elitely.

While a very pretty resort with a friendly enough staff, the service and dining options were seriously lacking for a resort in the Autograph Collection. Non-meat eaters in our party had very limited options (pasta or mediocre pizza for the most part) with dining. While I appreciate this is a Central American country, if there are a significant number of Americans and Canadians on property, it would help to have menus offered in English as well. We were grateful our kids’ take Spanish in school and were our translators for the trip. Service was hit or miss. Waiting an hour plus for room service or for a response from staff was not a one-time event. Booking water sports was a challenge as no one in the office spoke English (thanks again to our kids and a couple of very kind staff members) and more than once they did not show up on time—even over an hour late—despite confirmations of day and time the morning of.
Still, the resort is clean. The rooms are lovely. The views are beautiful. The water is relatively calm and the beach is spectacular with its black sand. The water sports were great fun. And the value was high.
If they are hoping to attract more US and Canadian tourism, which many said they are, there are some kinks to be worked out which could be easily done if the time is taken. Overall, it was a positive experience just don’t know if we would go back given the multitude of other options.

The property is very remote with a beautiful beach and oceanfront lounge chairs. This was a perfect place to get away from the city. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and kind! Although when you are there you have to eat at their restaurants if you don’t have a car, as there isn’t a town with restaurants nearby. Thankfully their food is good at the resort, so that was fine! Our favorite meal was at el Faro. There is an omelette station every day for breakfast and breakfast was included in the rate. There is a store on the property with groceries, wine and beer, coffee etc. The rooms are nice, but could use some paint/updates. The gym is fine but if you ride Peloton, there isn’t a good bike to use which wasn’t ideal. Overall it was a great escape.
