The room was good. Checking in took a long time. The staff was dealing with a violent incident between two others who were staying at the hotel due to being evacuated from their home community. Wish we had known in advance the hotel was housing evacuees. There were people everywhere lounging around and walking the halls at all hours. My husband could not go out for a smoke or to warm our vehicle without being asked for change or smokes. Not what we wanted to deal with when arriving later in the evening after travelling home all day from our holiday. We just wanted to check in but had to wait 20 minutes and get some quiet rest before we continued travelling home.

It was a very bad experience. A couple was fighting and screaming in the hallway. You can basically hear the next room talking. I was drying my hair at 6 am getting ready to for work training. Someone knocked basically telling me to keep quiet.

It was quite stuffy in the room, air conditioning is quite loud so its hard to sleep. Flushing the toilet was pretty loud too. Soap holder on tub was broken so nowhere to put it on and some black spots on the caulking!

The AC is not well maintained - it produces such loud noise that I couldn’t sleep well during my stay of 2 nights. The cleanliness in the room was barely okay, as there were spots and dirts on the wall.
When it comes the free “continental breakfast”, I believe it’s a universal standard to provide at least a piece of meat/bacon and options on eggs. There was only toast, bagel, coffee, water and hard boiled eggs. Per my experience in more than 100 hotels, it is just misleading to call that a continental breakfast (maybe call it an American breakfast would be more appropriate as it just look sad).
When I checked out at 10am, a typical peak hour, there were no staff at the reception at all. I waited for a while and eventually I had to get into one of the staff rooms behind because I had to catch up the flight. Apparently a few staff were there chic chatting. I believe resting for staff is important but would you at least keep 1 person in the reception during the peak hour?
I still give it 2 stars because it’s close to the airport. That’s it. But Mainstay is not the only option nearby. Definitely do not suggest to anyone due to the poor management.

I travel at least once a month for personal or business to Winnipeg. I've tried many hotels, but Mainstay is my preferred choice. The beds are comfy, it is quiet, has a kitchenette, secured parking, and the rooms are larger. Bonus that the price is great!

I arrived and had to wait 5min as the only person manning the reception was helping a customer somwhere else.
While I was waiting a customer came to complain about the state of their room
and ask to cancel his booking. Another customer explained there had been some sort of fire amd the receptionist followed that up with saying there was some sort of flooding.. suffice to say it was not the best start! I decided to still give it a chance.
Despite having a room right in front of the lifts and being worried about noise overall it was not too bad. Room was clean and spacious enough and bed was comfortable. Only issue was the bath plug was broken so was not able to enjoy a soak in the bath after a long drive. Other than that room was ok. Breakfast was a little meager as they had to move it to their meeting room probably due to the above mentioned issues and so it was a little makeshift and sparse.
Overall rating: could have been better for what I paid but, considering the issue they had unexpectedly experienced overall it was fine.

and ask to cancel his booking. Another customer explained there had been some sort of fire amd the receptionist followed that up with saying there was some sort of flooding.. suffice to say it was not the best start! I decided to still give it a chance.
Despite having a room right in front of the lifts and being worried about noise overall it was not too bad. Room was clean and spacious enough and bed was comfortable. Only issue was the bath plug was broken so was not able to enjoy a soak in the bath after a long drive. Other than that room was ok. Breakfast was a little meager as they had to move it to their meeting room probably due to the above mentioned issues and so it was a little makeshift and sparse.
Overall rating: could have been better for what I paid but, considering the issue they had unexpectedly experienced overall it was fine.

This property is ok, there was a dirty frying pan in the cupboard, ( this room had a stove and full size fridge) possibly just overlooked by housekeeping, however not having much lighting and no usb ports to charge devices sucked. I had to put my phone on battery saver mode to make sure it would have enough life to show my boarding pass in the am. Other than that, it’s ok, maybe a 3* at best
