Our room had plenty of space, the bed was comfortable and tea and coffee was available. It had a large bathroom and the shower was excellent. Bottled fresh water was provided every day which we kept cold in the fridge. We had a nice view over the pool with the ocean in the background. However….
I did go around with a screwdriver tightening the door and drawer knobs and some hinges on the cupboard doors. A lightbulb wasn’t working and a USB socket was unusable - obviously these hadn’t been reported to maintenance.

A great reception when checking in but downhill from there.

Apart from reception the staff attention to residents is shocking. The room was poorly prepared, signage said do not drink the water, water is provided, we are still waiting!

Dinner in the bar was a joke, staff pay no attention and when the food eventually arrives it is cold.

We will not be back.

This hotel is absolutely GORGEOUS! Every detail is solidly and thoughtfully constructed, from the chair rail lining the hallway to the sliding bathroom door. But form without function is of little value, and the staff brings the function in spades. Everyone we met went out of their way to answer our questions. Special shout out to Reginald at the concierge desk-he was kind, knowledgeable and generous with his time and helped us to book an amazing outing! He knows the area and the hotel inside out and made our stay even better.

The property is located across from the beach-it’s an easy 5 minute walk to the water and the pier as well. There are many restaurants adjacent-don’t skip Hello Beach! for some truly delicious food. There are also several restaurants and bars within the property, and a gorgeous indoor pool plus a stunning outdoor pool as well. We will definitely be back!

Great location in Summerstrand. Having the mall right beside us for beach and restaurant access was excellent. Enjoyed the pool both days but it really needed to be vacuumed on the second day. Breakfast area was lovely and the food was good but not great.

The staff is friendly, clean but they didn’t clean me room. Reception and kitchen has to co-ordinate as my daughter was denied breakfast I had to fight that she’s in the booking. It needs to improve my toilet flush was not functioning it needs an upgrade . Staff helpful and friendly. Safe environment, security is good, spa excellent

Pretty Georgian style Hotel that was conveniently close to the airport and the shopping mall and across the road from the beach.

We had Large spacious room on the 4th floor overlooking the pool area and sea.

I nearly cancelled this Hotel as I read the reviews but to be fair, it actually exceeded my expectations. I don’t have anything negative to say about the hotel.

We use the spa The treatments were quite expensive for South African prices but we’re from the UK so it was reasonable for us. I did think it was a little bit cheeky that they charge Extra to use the sauna steam room which would double the price of your massage. However, the massage was exceptional experience. The spa is an outsourced supplier to the hotel sitting.

In door pool and out swimming pool there’s also a small gym with a couple of treadmills and a few other machines as useful as also water available.

The shopping mall is very close by and a couple of supermarkets. Lots of restaurants you’ve got children is a cinema and an arcade.

Breakfast was ok - buffet but included in room rate .

Platinum level Expedia members we got a free bottle of fizz waiting for us when we arrived, which was a nice touch.

They were secure car parking facility underneath the hotel with direct access into the list and straight into the hotel.

The hotel was very quiet at night. We had no loud noises which I do and we felt safe.

This was a really nice and really comfortable hotel. The room was beautiful! I did a massage at the spa too and it was wonderful. It’s not on the water but it has great views of the water. They had a mall attached to it that we walked around and at dinner there. It was very nice.

Hotel was lovely. Easy free parking. Situated right night to a small mall where we had dinner in a restaurant on the seafront. This was great. Room was large and so was the bathroom. Windows opened fully to show sea and pool view. Only stayed one night. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was breakfast. This looked like it would be lovely but didn’t taste great, particularly the pancakes and coffee.

Superb location and lovely room on top floor. Outside pool was deserted but indoor pool full of kids. Nice peaceful sunbathing 😎. Staff were so helpful although a little slow at breakfast. Casino has smoking and non smoking areas which is good and I paid for the stay with my winnings 🤑

The standard of the hotel has dropped significantly.
The curtains did not close properly. There some tv channels that were not playing.
The bed side lamps were not working.
All of the above were reported, but nothing was done.
Lastly, at the dinning hall during breakfast you are made to wait because it is full and yet there's a space where they could prepare for more guests.
The experience there was 3/10.

The assistant manger was excellent. She resounded personally to some feedback I gave about the state of the gym equipment. And gladly extended by check out time. I would happily recommend it as a place to stay in PE

The hotel is amazing but on arrival at airport the driver met me .my husband who had been in port Elizabeth for awhile also met me at airport but the driver Would NOT take him to the hotel even though we were both staying their told my husband there was no room (which I did not find out till later) but I was the only person in the car so the business people had to drive out of their way to take my husband to the hotel not very happy wish I had not given him a tip

First time at the Boardwalk. Usually stay at a smaller facility for the ambiance but traveling with kids this time and wanted a safe place to wander around after dark. This worked very well. Enjoyed the heated indoor pool and got a great Foot Massage from Fatima. Breakfast buffet had a nice variety of choices.

The whole ambiance was very good, however it was organised chaos for everything else. We arrived at 13.45 and expected a 15 min wait as check in was 14.00. The room wasn’t ready and we eventually got the key to the room st 14.25. We were also expecting a bottle of wine upon arrival - this didn’t happen so we had to ask for it. The balcony was a communal one and other guests were walking between rooms past ours - no privacy whatsoever. The shower leaked badly, flooding the bathroom floor.

We had a very comfortable night in a duplex room but the air conditioning downstairs did not cool, only blew air, and there were only two feather pillows when we would have liked 4 or 6. We were disappointed not to have dinner at Kiplings which was closed on Friday night but had a great meal at Ginger next door to the hotel.

I had booked a normal room. When I arrived I had a nice surprise. They out of the blue decide to update me in a big suite. Like really big one. Them 5 minutes after I was in the room. A girl just comes to bring me a bottle of wine has a complementary of the house. I could have passed the week there! The attention was exceptionnel. Thanks all the staff of The Boardwalk.

Relaxing colonial modern hotel

Friendly and attentive receptionists. Deep Victorian baths and separate strong hot shower. Luxurious bed with awesome views of the Harbour. Two clear blue pools and a relaxing bar. I left my passport In the safe and one phone all it arrived with the hotel driver at the airport in 20 minutes. Room service hake goujons were not the best. But breakfast was good

Located just across the road from the beach, the hotel is well positioned fo cater for all requirements. Plenty of restaurant choices in the attached boardwalk area means you can safely walk to dinner. Just a short drive away are some lovely fine dining restaurants, and the hotel are happy to provide a readonably priced car to take and collect you from these.

A small outdoor pool provides a cooling dip from the heat of the sun, with comfortable loungers for relaxing.
The room was large and comfortable, ideal for a longer stay.

After spending nearly £400 pounds on a 2 night stay I booked a twin room with 2 single beds I received one double bed for 2 men to sleep in for 2 night
When I went to unpack my clothes the wardrobe had the previous gusts clothes in there so asked reception to remove
One towel for 2 guest had to complain to get more
Toilet roll not replaced second night had to ask for this
It makes me laugh you sent email did I get vip service the answer was no did a get a free something the answer no

A beautiful hotel with a lovely view of the ocean

We decided to get married whilst in South Africa and stayed at this hotel in the run up to our wedding. All staff from porter up to management went out of their way to help us, even decorating our room for the occasion. The hotel was scrupulously clean and nothing was too much trouble.

In general an OK hotel. Only get the service during check in where staffs are eager to take your luggages, and show you how to operate the elevator, as well as where light switches are. Then, don’t expect any service. No turndown service - and we had a big suite. No towel at the swimming pool. Electric outlets in the room are not working. Staffs in the restaurant chatting to each other rather than serving guests. The Food at the hotel restaurant is horrible. We barely touched them, same to their breakfast. We only had some fruits - things not easily go wrong.

Horrible Service and Not Up to Standards

After reading the reviews I thought this would be a great experience, but it was not. Check-in was very quick. The hotel was empty so no wait. The gentleman who showed me to my room was nice, but he kept saying \"welcome home.\" It got annoying after the third time. I stayed in a suite which was spacious, but I found the room to not be very functional. The only outlets that could be used were in the dining room which meant that all charging had to be done two rooms away from the bedroom. The lights had a mind of their own and could only be controlled through a main panel. Even the technician couldn't figure out how to get the lights to turn on in the lounge, so I didn't use that room much. The safe didn't work, so again another call for a technician to fix that. The view was okay, but you had to look over the gas station to see the beach. Room service...cheap, but poor quality. The chicken roll was okay. The drinks in the pool bar were cheap, but absolutely horrible. The fitness center was small and poorly equipped. Valet service was acceptable. FYI: You have to pay to use the refrigerator in the room. I've never seen that before. The worst thing of all: I asked for a late check-out (1 hour only, not a long time) and was told \"no.\" Never have I been told that I couldn't leave an hour late. I was shocked. The hotel was not even remotely full. That tells you the level of service that you should expect. So many other minor problems that you shouldn't have at a 5 star hotel.

Staff tries really hard, very friendly and comfortable hotel. However, too many glitches to call this a 5 Star Hotel. Had 2 rooms - lights all programmed off a central switch in room - did not work properly. Had to be re-programmed. Shower went from hot to cold, hot, cold etc. In second room, the drain from the bathtub not connected properly to the floor, hence a mini flood every time you let the water drain. Several other similar glitches experienced.
