Customer service was lacking with the lady at check out. She ignored my question and was rude.

Maintenance was very helpful to fix issues related to my room. Service at the restaurant and bellboy service was nothing to write home about.

Matabungkay has established itself as part of Lian's heritage. It has been around for years and has been itself a regal reputation.
Though the place looks a little dated, it keeps the Philippine heritage alive and well.

The deluxe room we asked for was basic and should have been a lot cheaper, and we demanded a change. We were still charged most of the cost for the original room, NO SIGN OF GOODWILL! We took 9 family members to this over-rated resort, and NONE WERE IMPRESSED.
Our advice, give this place a serious MISS!

For a wonderful getaway

Staff are friendly and polite. Fast check-in (maybe because we came in a weekday and lean season). Rooms are clean and well prepared. The breakfast we had is plated and it tastes good. Water activities are at a reasonable price too

We wanted to dive, but they weren’t available for a discover scuba, and we wanted to get massages but the availability was limited for both the massage and sauna times.

Matabungkay Beach Resort is not worth it.

We are not happy at all. The hotel is very old yet pricey. Every corner of our room smells old and the air conditioning is horrible. We're made to endure the remote third floor room during our stay. We are never going back to Matabungkay Beach Resort. Not even if they pay us to do so.

I regret this place. old and poorly maintained A waste of time for my family vacation where we all came from California
Staff was greedy too adding extras every time but did not provide extra service
Also those 35 year old jalousie windows let smoke from locals burning leaves and trash teice a day morning and night and made us dizzy inside a risk of carbon monoxide poisonong

Front desk clerk insisted to see confirmation on my phone when she was already ready to give us the room keys. She just wants to give me a hard time. She said we are not allowed to use hotel facilities-water activities because they have 3000 hotel guests who already reserved them and will be in use all day...not apologetic at all..more like flaunting it..oblivious that we too are hotel guests and are entitled to same amenities. This is not a 3 star hotel..more like 2. Very noisy starting at 7:00 am.

Faded glory

This is faded glory. While we were there several corporate outings took place with loud karaoke drowning out any sense of peace and quiet. We cut our stay short to look for something more peaceful.
We booked a suite but not a single window offered a view. We might as well have been on Mars. The staff were friendly but that did not compensate for the utter disappointment of the place.

Lack of complete information on the internet

The information on the internet is not totally complete because nothing is said about the facility not having any elevator. It is difficult especially for senior citizens with mobility problems to navigate three flights of steps going to the rooms on the third floor. The picture of the beach was nice online, however, we could not enjoy the beach because the three days spent in this resort was awful not being able to swim due to very low tides everyday. We have to rent a canoe to bring us to a deeper part of the ocean and walking on the rocks just to board the canoe was too inconvenient and painful to our feet, We specifically booked this resort because we wanted to swim in the ocean and unfortunately, we were unable to do this because renting a local boatmen gets kind of expensive and walking on the rocky sand was too painful. The restaurant onsite, however, was nice and despite a lack of a list of menus, the food was good, not too great especially the breakfast. For Americans, wanting a western breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon is a disappointment, pancakes were doughy and chewy, eggs not cooked right and bacon was replaced with local longanisa. If you are looking for a great beach resort, this is not the place to go or visit, you will be disappointed by the regular low tide and the water does not get in until very late in the afternoon and the ocean coming in was not blue and clear as shown on the website. We had to settle for the swimming pool.

Facilities were ok, restaurant only had limited menu, rooms could do with much improvement for the price paid, beach was ok but unable to swim in the sea as sea level is very shallow at all times.
Staff were nice and polite.
Nothing much to do in local area, I checked out early as I was bored and felt a little disappointed.

The hotel staff from dining to reception to housekeeping are all very nice and efficient. The villa rooms lack slippers, curtains old and dirty, pillows not soft and no blanket, just the very thin mattress cover.

The hotel was a quick getaway from the city. It has its own clean beach front. Seems to have low tide the whole of the day starting from noon until night.

The room is great, airconditioning is so good, housekeeping in toilet leaves bad odor, restaurants foods did not describes actual dish ingredients and seems has been cook for many times like sinigang na pork spare ribs there is only one spare ribs rest are pork meat vegetables seems been cutted long time ago leaves rotten part at the ends of the kangkong ladyfinger are too much old, lechon kawali seems to be cooked so many times, pizza is ok and lovable to eat as well as buko shake and halohalo...swimming pools smells dirty and looks dirty specialy kiddie pool...

great place , clean, comfortable , accommodating, new menu in restaurant, friendly staff, great pools, great prices, stayed for 5 days, early season march 3 to 8 , only disappointment was no grilled sea food , manager told us the playa grill opens at holy week, but still excellent place to stay, don't expect credit cards to work with the phone system and internet of the Philippines, take a boat tour, and you will want to come back

Not worth the price

Booked two deluxe rooms for our family as we basically need a place to stay for the night for our grandfather's funeral (Nearest hotel that we can find) and we came straight from the airport with young kids. The room is big with a wardrobe and 1 single and 1 queen bed. There is a tv that we never used anyway. Shower has water heater, I think for the sink faucet as well. But the sink is clogged! No tea/coffee making facilities, we requested for hot water and they brought a thermos about 4 cups of water for Php50.

We were allowed to check out at 3 given the fact that we checked in at almost 10pm. The hotel is outdated, really! But the view from the balcony as well as well as the fact that a few steps only and you can enjoy the beach kinda makes up for it.

it was a very nice place to stay. quiet. relaxing.

the food was good. it is a place you can go and enjoy spending time with your family. remote and secluded that you don't have to worry about any noise. the facilities are great. the rooms are too big that you could easily invite your whole relatives. staff are friendly and very accommodating that make you feel at home. we would definitely come back because it was one of the best place we have been when we visit our relatives in batangas. i would highly recommend it to whoever wants to enjoy and find a relaxing place to unwind. its worth any penny. the most important part of the whole experience was the cleanliness of the rooms and its surroundings. keep up the good work and we will be back

It was a wonderful stay with my family. The swimming pools are great and the food is terrific. My kids enjoyed the other amenities like billiards, pingpong, basketball and volleyball. We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends and family.

nice hotel close to the beach.

we have fun with my relatives and my husband.... the only thing is the water from the beach is not quite clear....
We love the pool ....we have enough space to swim ...the hotel has 3 pools which is cool not too crowded....
My comments is that the food need more selections.... bad experience when i ordered my asian salad it was not quite
presentable.....not good at all i just paid for it but not satisfied at all....Food is quite expensive but not impressive....

Nice Hotel and Facilities

The main attractions in this hotel are the facilities - pools, restaurants and overall ambiance. Outstanding are the hotel rooms with a veranda (with a round table and 2 chairs) overlooking the pool and the beach. The AC is super cold which is nice :) Washroom is ok with 2 toothbrushes, soaps, shampoos and clean towels. The bed,linen and pillows are clean and comfy. I have to say that the food we had wasnt that good. The crispy pata was crispy but bland in taste and could have used good seasonings before cooking :( There was a couple of reports that rooms were broken into in 2 successive nights. First night it was one room. The second night, there werer 4-5 rooms broken into and this had caused quite a scene at the front desk. The korean guests reportedly lost about 10K php :( Police were called in to investigate but could not do anything because the manager was not around and was not available and unreachable. This is not acceptable. No word on who was behind the break ins. Could be the staff, other guests, or the pinays with the koreans :) who knows !. Other than that, I still would recommend this hotel.

Great place,, had so much fun with my family.

The pool was nice because its new and its style is common to the pool i've tried in countries from asia, awesome design and the beach is amazing had fun riding a boat with my family , my husband and son tried snorkeling and had a great time, the food was good, had my favorite steamed tulingan fish with coco milk, the price is quite expensive but its all worth it, i saw the buffet meals but it's not quite appealing to the guests maybe because it also cost that much, over all the staff are nice and the place is funtastic when we enter the brgy where the resort is they collect 5 pesos for each person and visitors of their towns which not cost much but quite apprehensive as to why do they have to collect, we've been to other places and beaches but no such hassle took place.
