We arranged transportation a week in advance as the property indicated. Driver canceled while we were in the air and offered no solution. Property advertises transportation, no one was there to pick us up. Limited lounge chairs for the beach and grass lounge chairs so we were not able to hang out on property and relax. Nice location, clean room and good bay to swim in. Dining room was nice and good food and servers efficient.

They wouldn't let us open the umbrella at the beach...front desk didn't believe that we didn't have beach towels...made my husband run to the room twice because they didn't believe us ..so he brought down the shower towels to prove a point. Maybe wouldn't have been that big of a deal but we were exhausted from traveling.

Our stay at The Pelican Beach Resort was enjoyable. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The grounds are small but nice. We appreciated having our own lounge chairs and umbrella in the garden as well as on the beach. The swimming was lovely, very relaxing in both the ocean and in the pool.

As for the food, we only ate breakfast there once. It's a nice buffet, but expensive. I guess it's worth it if you're a big eater, but if you just want toast and coffee I wouldn't recommend it. The dinner menu was very expensive so we chose to have dinner elsewhere.

The staff are really excellent! Super nice, helpful people at the front desk, staffing the bar, and cleaning the rooms.

The downside: we assumed they would have a parking lot and they don't. Your choices are to risk parking on the street, if you can find a spot, or paying to park in their small garage.

Also, there are not enough electrical outlets in the room. You can plug in the mini fridge or the TV, but not both at the same time.

On the whole, the positives outweighed the negatives by a lot and it's the staff who are the best thing about Pelican Beach.

One thing to be aware of is that they charge hotel guests for the beach chairs which were 20€ each per day. The ‘gym’ is also outdoors, no air con and the equipment is in bad need of repair. There was one working treadmill, there was a set of 5kg dumbbells and I think a 1-3kg but really poor gym.
Staff are super nice, rooms very clean, and the beach is beautiful. You do need a car to get around! And beware, very little on street free parking as the locals park at 7am for the beach! To park in the hotel underground carpark they charge hotel guests 15€ a day (I think this is what we paid) during July.

Nice resort but our party of 4 were not treated very well when we arrived at the hotel restaurant without a reservation. Put in the corner of another room and ignored for most of the evening. Food was expensive and not very good. Would recommend walking down the street to eat elsewhere. Good walkable location for accessing the beach though.

From the moment we arrived, which was late, Selma at reception suggested go to the hotel restaurant eat relax & do check in after.
She continued throughout our 8 nights to book restaurants taxis & more.
The confusion of the sunbeds is, if you are staying in a suite you have the use of sunbeds & umbrellas in the garden & the beach. If you are in the regular rooms there is a daily charge.
Simone was extremely professional & helped us with choice of local wine & couldn’t do enough to make our stay fabulous.
The team at reception friendly helpful & happy.
The beach man was curteous.
Well done Pelican Beach Hotel.

I paid for a “beachfront” room and got a room on the second floor with barely no view of the beach. Davide insisted that it was beachfront. The rooms you pay for are subject to interpretation by the staff.
Hotel needs a lot of updating. However, the beach is beautiful!

The hotel was quite nice and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
What I didn't like was that the weather was exceptionally hot and the tap water was undrinkable. The only source of drinking water was in the bar fridge and guests had to pay 2.5 Euros for a small bottle of water. There are no convenient stores or shops anywhere close to the hotel to purchase anything. A car is definitely required to see or do much.

I stayed at the Pelican Beach Resort in Olbia, Italy with my husband and we were immediately greeted, quick check in. The hotel has a restaurant, part of the hotel which is across the street from the front desk. The beach is also across the street. The breakfast was included in our stay. We had a complimentary late check out. The front desk reserved our taxi back to the airport.
Overall, no complaints.

We had a great trip. The hotel was lovely, we were in the pelican villa part on the beach side. The gardens around the hotel and the restaurant were immaculate and the beach was lovely. the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were all very helpful.
Probably the only small downside was location. There is a small supermarket near by and a couple of other restaurants that are walkable but other wise you need a car or taxi to get anywhere, taxis are very expensive min 35 euro for a trip into Olbia that is about a 10 min drive away. That said we were happy to stay at the hotel and enjoy the beach and relax. Would stay again.

Writing review for others travelers to be “in the know” Hotel needs to be transparent with descriptions & 3rd party sellers.
Call in advance to know exactly what hotel room your getting space, view, location, floor, stairs etc., sofa bed, lounge chairs so there are no surprises. Ask for bills as you go. Do not put the bill on the room and pay at the end, you may find surprise costs that were never mentioned. Ask if the spa is included w spa treatments, bc it’s not. Don’t accept anything “on the house” you may get charged for it. Felt Nickel and dimed. No shuttle to the airport. It’s a 40 Euro taxi the front desks calls. There’s not a shuttle to Olbia. It’s public transportation we missed bc we were never informed we needed a face mask. Be careful w hidden language & descriptions. Make a dinner reservation in advance or you may not get to eat. Ask what lounge chairs are included with your stay. Not all amenities are included, you may have to pay extra. Our massage was not good even though we asked for more pressure. Be on top of what your getting & not getting.

However, the staff is nice and friendly. They try to accommodate their faults. The booker for excursions is wonderful. But cabs are very expensive to get to them during high season. The bartender is very nice & made great drinks. Although, we felt like we were getting ripped off, hotel hires nice staff to hide behind the lack of transparency.
Hotel offered a meal which made up for lack of transparency.

The best thing about this property is the staff. They are amazing. The reception personally walked us to our room and showed up everything. They gave us informatioj for boat rentals and even called us a cab when we needed it.

The rooms are immaculate. Housekeeping is everyday even when it doesn't need to be. The restaurant has amazing, fresh food and superb service. They never let your water cup go empty.

There's private beach access and a garden. The grounds are well kept and relaxing. This place is truly a hidden gem. Not crowded at all. I highly recommend this place. Of note it is adults only.

The beach is surrounded by screaming kids on both sides of the hotel beach. They run back and forth across the supposedly adults only beach. Horrible! Super clean, oceanfront, adults only hotel. I felt that this place must have been recently renovated because it is gorgeous and sparkling clean. Every moment was perfect, the restaurant and bar is incredible. Walk out to the beach and there are additional beaches a 5 minute walk in either direction. Additional restaurants 10 minute walk. There’s also a public bus Line within walking distance if you want to explore more without a car, but I never used this because the hotel staff was always happy to arrange a taxi.

The only down side was that there was nothing within walking distance. No nice shops and bars or a strip to walk along for an evening stroll.

Beach setting great, friendly staff. Restaurant overpriced and over rated. Nothing to do in the evenings shame hotel didn't have entertainment. Very little choice of alternative restaurants, plenty of pizza but other food very rustic. Smoking is a big problem in the outside canopy area no consideration for non smokers as usual, unbearable at times. Taxis in Sardinia very expensive 40 euros for 12 kilometres!

Great hotel & the staff were AMAZING... Nothing was too much trouble & some of the most freindly hotel staff I’ve had the pleasure to meet.

Location is good & we made the most of the buses which are really easy to use.

We hired a car for just one day which was not expensive & really worth doing if you want to see more of the surrounding area.

I would definitely recommend Sardinia as a holiday destination & the Pelican Beach Spar Hotel.

A warm welcome and lovely friendly staff. The hotel rooms are a bit basic (no kettles for example) and on the small side but the showers were great and the beds comfortable.
Would have liked a slightly bigger balcony too.
The sea is literally on the doorstep with crystal clear waters.
Out of season a car would be useful.
Great food in the restaurant.

Really nice hotel, in a good location only 20 mins drive to Olbia airport. Pool is a good size and beach is lovely and plenty of sun beds for everyone. Unfortunately I had hurt my back during our trip to Sardinia and was unable to walk very well, Karina in the spa area did her best to try and help me during our 4 day stay doing a couple of massages , her help was appreciated. The hotel has an amazing restaurant, we were not on half board so used the a la cartel menu, because of my mobility issues we ate there on our 1st night and was very impressed. We tried to book for our last night but they were fully booked, so we had to find somewhere else in the car which wasn't ideal. It would have been nice if they could have accommodated us. A good stay no be the less

Terribly disappointed in a high dollar stay.

We arrived very late due to fight delays, and the initial hotel clerk pointed us to a restaurant that could still serve us food at midnight, we were so greatful. But it seemed to all down hill from here. The hotel staff the next day made us feel like total idiots for acting like we could ask for a tour the next day of anything. So graciously we accepted a tour the following day, even tho that's was our last day. BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART WAS WE WENT FOR DINNER AT POSTED 7-9 time listed in the lobby and we were turned down because we had no reservation. Now if they would have warned us at check in we would have made that reservation. SO we went hungry that night because there is nothing local with in reason except 30 mins of walking to get a sandwich. And of course there was no reservation available for the next night with even a 24 hour warning. The room was clean with ocean views, but the sour taste in our mouth struggling to get food here and the willingness of the staff to tell us NO so many times ruined it. We were left upset on a beautiful vacation instead of wonderful memories. I guess after changing planes 4 times and 25 hours of travel we expected a million times better. But even when we tried to reach the front desk for more than an hour to get a final taxi to the airport the call would not connect or no one bothered. So we had to walk to the front desk and ask for a taxi, and they seemed to say these Americans always want pronto! I cannot recommend!

Beach was very small, busy and nosy with only a rope separating the hotel beach from the residential area. There is nothing else to do in the surrounding area therefore would recommend hiring a car.

First of all this is not a resort! Completely over priced I paid almost $250 a night for subpar service you are basically stuck at this hotel to go anywhere costs you in between 40-80 euros on way. You better off staying at puerto Cuervo, costa Esmeralda or Baja Sardinia. A soda will cost you five euro at this resort. The staff was very rude and completely unhelpful if you booked a tour with one person at the resort no one else knew anything about it or could give you any information. I don't want to sound like a typical American as an avid traveler and I know that and you're I don't want to sound like a typical American as an avid traveler and I know that in Europe things are different than in the states but I honestly felt I was treated poorly just because I was American. You can find a hotel much cheaper or for the same price stay somewhere much better, location was not good.

Amazing hotel and very friendly staff. The food every night was superb, we ate half board and dint regret it, great choice of food except one night when they had a special wine event on with a fixed menu, me and my wife didn't like anything on the menu but that wasn't a problem for them they made us something different.

Relax relax relax

If you are looking for a great place to relax this is it! A nice beach, a chilled out lawn and a great restaurant give you everything you need. The staff are really friendly and no ask is too much. Walking distance to other beaches and cafes/restaurants so our lack of car was no issue. A brilliant few days to recharge the batteries.

disappointing.rooms very small and everything could be heard from neighbours.restaurant was very expensive and the food was poor.dont be fooled by pictures of sun loungers in the gardens,you are only allowed to use them if you occupy a top price suite.would definitely not visit again

The hotel was very nice, staff lovely. Only one niggle, and that was on our first day we arrived early and took a breakfast which we were charged for - not a problem but our last day we left at 6am so didn't take our breakfast on that day so I think it was a little short sighted to charge us.

A mixed bag.

One of our bags was lost on the journey and the taxi transfer organised by the hotel had left by the time we had completed the paperwork. The bag loss was the airline's fault of course, and they were understanding, advising us on where to get clothes and toiletries in the meantime. We didn't get our bag back until 4 days later (the hotel staff had resolved for us to go back to the airport to pick it up which would've cost us €80 so we asked them if we could speak to the airline and they said they could deliver to the hotel after all!).

More broadly, there was a nice beach (although during our stay in September the sun was intermittent) but the lifeguard was frequently unhappy about giving out towels and setting up sunbeds. If you don't like bitey fish, this isn't the sea for you. But it is exactly how it looks on the picture.

There were wasps in the morning and mosquitos in the night so BRING SPRAY. Restaurants were few and far between: the one recommended on Mamma Beach was excellent (if a little more expensive) and we went to La Squino twice but avoid El Ninos. Basically other than a couple of beaches either side, there is not much else to do.

The breakfast was great but sometimes they ran out of something crucial like bread, tea or juice.

But overall we had a great time (i read THREE books). 10 out of 10.

Cute boutique hotel on the beach.

Fab hotel, good location on the beach. Hotel staff were really helpful and friendly. We went at the very end of the season so the vibe of the place was a bit quiet but still a good place. Only thing that we couldn't master wasn't the air con- either too cold or too hot!

Relaxing, friendly hotel

I recently visited with a friend for a 4 night mini break. Just 15 minutes from the airport, this small, intimate hotel has everything you need. Simple,comfortable rooms. Direct access to a private beach, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. On a short break there is no need to leave the hotel as you can enjoy breakfast al fresco; drinks and snacks throughout the day and a small but excellent evening menu.,there are, apparently, a couple of restaurants within easy walking distance ( we didn't try them!) and we did hire a car to travel around the island one day.. As a room tip, book one in the beach house, otherwise you can ONLY have access to beach sunbeds...in the beach house rooms ( a little more expensive) you can also use the loungers in the lovely garden area. Just a little gem of a hotel.

Superb hotel with friendly and helpfull staff

We had a lovely stay here at the pelicano.The total experiance was superb and so was the staff..The facilities are excellent and the beach is very clean and tidy..My girlfriend and muself stayed at the beach hotel and would recommend this as its close to the restuarant jaquzzis and of course the beach..

Loved our stay here! This was a gem of a hotel!

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay. We loved our stay here. The private beach was tranquil and relaxing and well maintained. It is about 7 miles to the centre of Olbia and the bus/train stations so it's easy access. Theres nothing in the area apart from a little supermarket and coffee shop within walking distance. The attraction of this hotel is being pampered and relaxing. If you like reading a book on the beach and chilling in the sun this this a great spot, it's cut-off from the hussle and bussle of cities and towns and you can soak yourself into a unstressful mode of sun sea and sand. It is the perfect long weekender! If you do hire a car there's plenty to see but we didn't and enjoyed our time here. I'd recommend this hotel for solo stayers and couples. The staff are wonderful. So many reviews mention this and it is completely true, every single staff member was lovely, helpful and made this stay memorable. If you make any special requests or requirements ahead of your stay they will make this happen for you.

We really enjoyed this hotel, great location and very quiet. Nice beach and surroundings. We used it as a base for the area. Rooms were massive, and brand new bathrooms. Great breakfast, very nice restaurant food and terrific service. We'd stay here again, although we'd request nicer pillows, they were a little flat.

WONDERFULL LOCATION FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE A CAR

The hotel is located by the sea.The breakfast is served in a patio watching the sea with a full breakfast(you can order eggs and coffee without extra charge.there are several juices meat and cheese as well as fruits and cakes ,as was written before the wi-fi is weak but you can go near the swimming pool and there is OK.They own a parking under the building and if not there there is no problem with parking.The problem in Sardinia that people that are coming with Dollars will have a problem to exchange and even in the bank they limit us of changing max of 500Euro.
