We had a one bedroom apartment which was a perfect size for our 3 night stay. Apartment was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the area was very pretty. Would definitely recommend it to friends and would definitely stay again.

Only things that knocked the stay down for me are:
- Dirty or stained towel
- £100 security deposit for a one night stay that can take up to 14 days to be released.
- Someone else checked in and was charged £1 security deposit so I was unsure why I was being charged £100.
- No bottled water or restaurant available.
- Towel rental charges.

We had a great stay — excellent customer service, lovely facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere with birds around the houses. Our six‑sleeper house was good value, and the location made it easy to explore Cornwall and Bideford. The leisure centre was reasonably priced, and the staff were fantastic throughout.

I’m giving 4 stars only because the TVs needed a share code for YouTube (and the bedroom TV didn’t support it), and the lounge sofa was a bit worn. Otherwise, a very good stay.

Restaurant and Bar not open, this was our anniversary but had to do own cooking, site said no cancellations as it was on website, couldn’t see anything on Hotels.com so will challenge this, also so bloody dark and the map to house wasn’t great, maybe light up signs and review lighting levels for walking at night

I needed a two night break to surf, see friends and get some space to recharge my batteries. The staff were most friendly and helpful. The accommodation was perfect and very clean, double bedroom with bathroom and towels, with a living room and small self catering kitchen. It was perfect for what I needed. I didn't actually use the other facilities but they looked nice. I thoroughly recommend this resort. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Beautiful place in peaceful location. Nice view from our apartment overlooking the courtyard & mill pump, which we walked past on the way to the leisure centre & lake. Enjoyed a swim & sauna to top it off. Some areas could do with an update (& deep clean) but areas like the sauna had been updated (balconies on the todo list apparently, as we couldn't use).
There's wasn't a restaurant or bar but a daily food van and Sun eve entertainment. But we were happy with our experience - Staff all very friendly and helpful. My mum loved her birthday getaway. Would return!

We had a wonderful stay following a super warm welcome. The staff members are amazing. The only feedback I would share would be to consider telling guests that there are steep steps and steep slopes to the accommodation and giving people the option to book lower floor properties. The swimming pool wasn’t very warm but was a nice extra. The property smelled really badly when we arrived so we had to buy air fresheners to extinguish the smells. The toilet roll and kitchen roll is very poor quality, so take your own. There was no restaurant onsite and the accommodation was very rural, it’s a real shame as this could have made such a difference. The bar area could have been made more cosy, they’ve tried to balance family games with a bar atmosphere and it didn’t feel quite right. The staff were so wonderful and welcoming and made such a difference. The little shop onsite was very welcome and appreciated.

Great lodge, all amenities for a self catering stay.
They do have a refurb going on in their main building but a temporary bar has been put into leisure centre. Also catering companies come in with mobile vans. Had a lovely curry the first night.

The pool was great. The staff were very helpful and the text message communication was really good. The beds were very comfortable which made up for a lot of negatives. The kitchen was clean and had all we needed.
Downsides - No dining places nearby and the closest was fully booked for our stay.
The takeaway coffee hut on site was closed Sat, Sun & Mon.
The property states no parties, no hen or stag dos and the receptionist reiterated that when we checked in, However for the 1st 2 nights of our stay we were unlucky that all the surrounding properties had been booked up by a very large group of family and friends and they all gathered in one house from 10pm and then continued to be extremely noisy until late. The reception staff sorted the noise for us on the second evening - we didn’t complain on the 1st eve.
The house had seen better days. The stairs and upper floor creaked so badly it sounded like they were going to fall through. The sofas looked stained and there was a lots of old greasy hand marks along the edges of the upstairs doors and hair on the carpet. The ensuite shower was moldy. It looked nothing like the picture used to advertise the property.
Possibly there were better properties on site which had been updated but we got a very tired one. Also, upon arrival the house was impregnated with the smell of curry - took 3 days to clear with windows open, or maybe we just got used to it! Didn’t feel 4 star.
We won’t stay again but did love the pool and beds.

Wonderful weekend

We had a wonderful family stay at the resort! The apartment was very well equipped, spacious, and comfortable, with parking conveniently right next to the unit. The whole place felt like a little town in the middle of the farm area – peaceful, beautifully conserved, and with everything well connected. It was the perfect setting for both relaxation and in-door activities, and the whole family enjoyed every moment. We’d be happy to come back again!

Cosy stay with great facilities

We stayed in \"Sleep 3\" – a compact room with a double bed and a sofa bed. Some in-room facilities shown on the website (like a washing machine or dishwasher) weren’t included, but perhaps not expected for this room type. The small kitchen was good enough for cooking simple meals like pasta or breakfast.

The hotel facilities were great – we especially enjoyed the warm swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and spa (though the opening hours are limited to 9am–6pm). There's also a cosy entertainment room open until 11pm, ideal for relaxing with kids. The surroundings are peaceful, we saw squirrels and even peacocks!

Staff were attentive and responsive throughout our stay, with convenient communication via SMS.

Peacocks /avian animals NOISE

I understand it's part of natural wildlife however guests should be warned with a dray of peacocks that get SO LOUD during the night with a decently warm summer and NO AIR-CONDITIONING hence NO choice but have to open all windows to bear + siffer this noise ALL through the night.

Otherwise I will not mark any complaints and it could be quite a decent stay.

Had a lovely stay. We booked an apartment which turned out to be a lovely bungalow. The accommodation was a little dated but spotlessly clean and very spacious, great little extras such as kitchen roll, tea towels etc. resort was beautiful, highly recommend the leisure facilities it’s a shame there’s no restaurant. The bar is open 5-10pm but it would be good to be able to get a drink or coffee during the day. Came for a rest and it was perfect. I hope to come back one day.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom property, was impressed with how much room there was and very clean. The decor is a bit dated as others have mentioned but thats just asthetics.
The site is undergoing renovation but we were not impacted with any noise or building works.
The swimming pool was lovely, easy to book and free to hotel guests.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, even the peacocks.
The restaurant is closed but we were happy with self catering any way. I think all in all it depends on your expectations. For us it was a great base after days out and about sight seeing and the pool was the added bonus.

Our review is mixed. Booking was easy and a courtesy call was received to say unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open but a bar was and a hot food van would be onsite We arrived and checkin went smoothly, with good instructions about everything but we were then informed that we couldn't use the balcony on our apartment and the french doors were locked.
We entered the apartment to find the radiator value was broken. The heating was on full bore!
Handyman came quicky to resolve but with only one window that opened a bit,a fan and some ice. The apartment was still unbearable.
After some explaining that other propertieson site were available, intense negotiating and an insulting charge of £10 we were able to upgrade to a house.
After a 12hr day we decided to pay it.
The house we were moved to was well appointed, spacious and the bed comfortable . Some areas could have been cleaner (hoover may need emptying)
We were also given access to the pool during members hr as unfortunately we had missed this whilst sorting out the issue.
Leisure access finishes at 7pm.
We were glad things were resolved and

. There was a ‘musty’ smell - probably not been used often over the winter or cleaning products used. Cobwebs on the beams!

Swimming Pool was excellent - really warm.

A lovely relaxing place for most people but not for me. The Peacocks, are everywhere, directly outside the door and windows and on the walls. I guess you either love them or hate them.

Great location and the grounds are lovely but room is a bit dated..We stayed in a one bed apartment. Balcony was being repaired so unable to open the patio doors which meant the heat in the living area was unbearable. Fans provided but due to their only being a tiny window it was just blowing hot air around. Could also do with blackout on the windows in the bedroom.

Myself and my partner stayed for two nights, the grounds beautiful and the apartment was very clean and tidy. We had only one encounter with staff here and this was during check in, they were friendly and informative and even opted us in for their text message service which keeps you up to date with activities going on during your stay.
The downside was that some of the facilities that were offered on hotels.com were not actually available during our stay, which was quite misleading and a bit disappointing, which meant for adults there isn’t a lot to do. It is also situated well out of the way, with no restaurants, pubs, or even towns within walking distance, it is really quite out of the way. We would have perhaps booked elsewhere had we known that some facilities were unavailable during our stay, our booking was also nonrefundable so we weren’t able to cancel.
Overall, I would absolutely stay again providing that all facilities are open for use, I feel we only had half of the experience we would have had otherwise - a great stay for families.

The accommodation was fantastic! Second time staying here and would definitely come again. The peacocks that seemed to come to our window every morning were good fun & the kids loved them. There’s only one slight negative which is the pool temperature which I believe isn’t suitable for children…Adults will be fine but the last two times we’ve stayed here the children have never been able to enjoy the pool due to it being too cold. Regardless of this I would still come again down to the accommodation & I don’t think you’re finding better for the price!

Great budget weekend stay

Really good value for money and lovely place for a weekend. The resort is very rural, and the onsite bar and restaurant are currently closed so we had to make sure to bring food for our stay, or travel further to buy food or eat out. The hotel made sure to make us aware of this before arrival which was very nice, so we were able to prepare better. Waking up to peacocks on our balcony was a surprise. The lodge was very clean and had everything you would need for a weekend stay or even longer if you wanted. The walls were quite thin to the next door lodge, who had kids and we’re running around and stomping and slamming doors until very late, no fault of the resort but bear in mind the noise may be an issue if you have noisey neighbours

Brilliant place for a three-night stay! We had a two-bedroom house for three adults and two toddlers, and it was great—comfortable, spacious, clean, and excellent value for money. We’ll definitely be back! The only thing that could have made it even better would be replacing the old carpet with the same flooring as in the kitchen.
