Comfortable, but a little TLC required to bathroom

The room itself was basic but perfectly adequate for a one night stop, though it would havd been nice to ha e a proper cup rather than paper for hot drinks in the room. We had evening dinner and breakfast, both of which were fine.
The main let down was the bathroom- when using the tap in the sink it came off in my hand (you had to be very careful when using it). Bathroom generally very tired looking, just 2 bath towels & no hand towel available

Check in fine and staff friendly. Room OK except bathroom. WC difficult to flush; vinyl bathtub with shower over was slippery and no handle. Basin had large cracks and, if lent on when getting out of bath/shower, could shatter. Very dangerous!

Excellent standard of accommodation for the price. Service in restaurant in evening was friendly but poor as a number of options were not available - advised after ordering - and when selected meal served it was cold and had to be sent back. Then due to delays, dessert was cancelled by us but upon receiving bill in morning dessert was still charged. Other than evening restaurant experience, stay was fine.

The hotel is a little tired, and out of town, so not much I. The immediate area. Disappointing that the parking was not secure, missing fencing and the security gate wasn’t in use.

Good, simple overnight stop for travellers

The hotel offers basic accomodation, perfect for an overnight stop en route back to the UK. I've stayed twice now, and it is very well located near the A4 / A26 / N44. The rooms are basic, but the site is quiet, the bed is very comfortable, and the window shutter totally blocks the light - I slept really well. There is a restaurant next to the accommodation which offers simple food, although the buffet breakfast is overprived at €10 - I won't bother next time and will find a cafe.

This Campanile does not ring my bell.

Room internally & externally was scruffy. No hand towels. No waste bin in room. No hot water for shower at 9pm. Refused ingredients for second cup of coffee to make in room. Receptionist muttered to herself when politely asked for a breakdown of the bill.

An in-trip change of reservation date made via the Internet was not processed, either through the fault of Expedia's booking system or the hotel. We tried to change the booking by phone, but were told this was not possible. So Expedia's system was irritatingly inflexible and inefficient. When we arrived at the hotel (a day earlier as arranged, to the best of our knowledge, via the Internet), the staff had no knowledge of the booking, but fortunately a room was available. The staff were friendly and helpful. On signing out, the member of staff neglected to provide a receipt for a cash payment, so we had no proof of payment, but there were no other problems.

This is a good value stopover. You get what you pay for so no complaints. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was no mould in the bathroom! The breakfast was good with plenty of choice considering the price. The coffee was very good too. The breakfast room and reception was very clean . Reception staff was friendly and welcoming and parking was secure . The main building could do with a make over as it has peeling paint and looks shabby but inside it is not so bad. Easy to find, well signposted near a busy road so some road noise with windows open. Good air conditioning.

Convenient and good value for money

A first generation Campanile that offers good value for money and serves as a convenient stopover, close to the motorway and to the interesting town of Chalons - en - Champagne. The beds are very comfortable and the restaurant has already been renovated and there is a promise of refurbished rooms by the end of 2015, which are showing their age. We had a pleasant dinner, but struggled a bit with the new menu which offers various formulae of starters and desserts, but masks a restricted choice for the main courses.

Simple stopover on journey through France. Bedroom block across car park from restaurant/reception. Odd check in, guy looks at me, smiles and then walks off before coming back a few minutes later. Perfectly adequate room but like all French non smoking rooms stinks of smoke! Could do with better signposting for entrance. Restaurant open on Sundays.

We stayed for one night on our route to Italy. This was a typical Campanile but hotel but in desperate need of a make-over. It was convenient for our stay but nothing more - one of the most uncomfortable nights we had throughout our whole trip.

A very good place to break the journey. The only problem is the address - the Sat Nav couldn't find it as the actual road doesn't seem to have a name and on entering Avenue 8th Mai 1945 the Sat Nav took us to the Rue 8th Mai 1945, which is at the other end of town.

But breakfast over priced when a croissant is avabiable for less than 1€ next door at rhe supermarket. Childrens play area not functioning.

We phoned ahead to say we would be late due to traffic and bad weather in Switzerland. Arrived at 21.55 after slogging it out driving for 10 hours. Restaurant closes at 22.00, we couldn't get a beer as they can only serve alcohol with food. Quick shower and tried the other hotels and the local bar, everything was closed so went to bed that night without food. On a positive note! The staff are really nice and helpful but this particular Campanile is not in a good spot.

It's what I expected - close to A4 highway - the attached restaurant had reasonable food at reasonable prices. Nothing spectacular but the room was functional and everything worked. At night, it was a little tricky to find the hotel entrance and it wasn't clear that the restaurant was also the reception. Minor details for a very low priced evening.

Disappointing Campanile

First issue I would have, would be the lack of signs to the hotel, although I thought other Campanile places had been pretty well signposted: yes we had difficulty finding the place.

Second issue, which can't be helped, the weather was cold and wet, but it meant it was awkward to see the entrance to the reception of the Hotel which was obscured, badly lit and did not look welcoming.

Third issue, the outside of the hotel itself was poorly lit; it was fortunate I carried a torch to see the path and the steps to our room which was on the far side of the hotel.

Another issue, the television was fixed to the desk which meant working space was reduced by a considerable amount. If the company is worried about the television being stolen, could it not be fixed to the wall instead.

Sorry, bad experience of this one.

great location as a journey-breaker

We booked this hotel due to it's location about 3 hours south of Calias as a journey-breaker. For this purpose it worked well, however the actual hotel is quite dated and needs a good renovation. The rooms were clean and adequate for a few hours stay and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was quiet expensive and can be had at a fraction of the price at the next motorway services. Evening meal was just ok.
If I was to make this journey again I would look around at other hotels in the same location.

there was a very disturbing noise outside from some machine over the street the whole night....the room was warm and aircondition did not work...no replacement toilette paper roll even the one supplied was almost running out...no small towels or washcloth, only 2 big ones....no tissues! Will not choose this hotel again.

This hotel was clean, safe, affordable and the staff was friendly. All in all, it was completely functional with a good breakfast, but lacked in any memory making charm. It's right off the highway and several miles from downtown. Next time I go back I'll book in Epernay or downtown Chalons-en-Champagne.

Best as an overnighter

This is a motel style place which is a little tired. Access from the motorway is good and there is extensive open car parking directly outside the rooms. Catering is not their strength the breakfast was not well presented or kept topped up (they ran out of bread !!) and an evening hot chocolate was at best cool. The location is on the outskirts of the town and not walkable to the town for an evening meal. Hence best if just passing through. I don't think I would revisit this one

Hôtel très bruyant suite à des camions frigorifique juste en face. Climatisation pas du tout entretenue ( très peu de ventilation car aspiration très sale. Fuite d’eau sous la baignoire, cheveux au sol, tache sur la moquette. Porte d’entrée non hermétique.

Nuit pas vraiment reposante

La chambre est identique à un hôtel Campanile. Elle est plutôt propre et le lit et les oreillers sont de qualité. Pourtant un bruit de ronronnement résonne dans la chambre en permanence. C est horrible. Impossible de dormir correctement. Ce doit être les pompes à chaleur qui font trembler et résonner les murs. Je ne sait pas si les autres chambres rencontrent les mêmes problèmes.

Attention, l'accès aux chambres commence à partir de 14h. si vous avez besoin d'accéder aux chambres avant 13h30, surtout ne pas vous organiser avec l'hôtel. Nous avons demandé à l'hôtel de pouvoir accéder à la chambre aux alentours de 13h (par téléphone bien avant notre arrivée) et l'hôtel nous a facturé 25€, ce service. D'autres personnes que nous connaissions sont arrivés avant 13h sans prévenir et ont obtenu l'accès à leur chambre sans supplément.

Hotel campanile dans un piteux état repris par kyriad qui n'a réalisé aucun travaux. La signalétique campanile est toujours omniprésente. Toute la robinetterie est oxydée, plus d'émail ni brillance. Tout est à refaire du sol au plafond. Cela repousse l'utilisation.Carrelage et moquette usée et fatiguée. Ne merite en aucun cas ses 3* ni même 2*.
C'est honteux de la part de kyriad.
Publicité mensongère.
Surtout à ne pas recommander.
Point positif le personnel est souriant et sympathique.
Je ne les envie pas de travailler dans ce contexte.
