Check in was quick and easy, parking was good. The room was clean, shower pressure was great. Great location, can walk to bars and restaurants. Only complaint was the vanity light did not work and turned on and off randomly. I did not try the breakfast, so cannot comment on that. The motel is older but was great for the weekend.

Checked in, and very disappointed wasnt expecting an exterior door motel. Went to our room and the floor had stains and pulled the sheets back and they did as well. Tried getting our money back and they fought me with it that they gave me a partial refund but wouldn’t give me a full refund although we didn’t stay there as the room was dirty, and
Was a safety issue as I was traveling with young kids and with very unpleasant and unprofessional staff! Very unhappy with this and do not recommend. We camp in tents in the summer and I’d rather sleep in a sleeping bag on the ground than this hotel! Very disappointed in this wingate motel and since we weren’t able to get full refund was disappointed as well. If you stay here be sure to check rooms for bed bugs and try seeing room before checking in-which I was told that was the only way they would have refunded me the full price if I would have checked the room first! Didn’t know seeing the room before checking in was even possible but do this or you will be disappointed in only a partial!

The beds were clean and comfortable but other than that, this hotel was a very poor experience. We had made a reservation for 5 people because we have 3 kids. They had no sleeping arrangements for our 3rd child. My husband had a camping cot in his truck so we used that alongside the two queens in our room. Several of the outlets in the room didn’t work. Had to use the blow dryer across the room from the bathroom. Carpet was so dirty the bottoms of our socks were brown. We stayed 4 nights- each morning breakfast was a disappointment, cereal but no milk, jelly but no bread for toast. When I asked front desk they apologized but no solution. We asked housekeeping to come the second day we stayed and they did not. So we asked the front desk for sheets and towels and trash bags and cleaned our room ourselves. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels/motels, this place was a disappointment.

We needed a place to crash for our ski weekend at Crested Butte! This was affordable, a good drivable distance from the mountain, felt safe and clean! The beds were comfortable, water in the shower was hot! The mini fridge kept our refreshments perfectly cold! Check in and out was very easy. Would stay again.

Nothing extravagant, just a standard room. The mini fridge dod not work, closet wouldn't close completely and a light panel was not on the wall correctly.
Breaking was nothing to write home about. Waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, pastries, coffee, apple juice and orange juice.

This hotel needs an update. I could see light through the door - a significant problem in the middle of winter. Broken tiles in the bathroom. Dirty room - liquid splatter down the side of the bedside table. Smelly and warm fridge. The heater would not remain consistently on. The window above it filled with condensation. The door had clearly been broken into before - the door jam was shattered and poorly repaired. The breakfast was neither hot nor nourishing. Bagels were stale. There was no milk. The waffle iron was on, but there was no waffle batter.

First room smelled awful, and was dirty like they changed the sheets on beds but that was it there was food on the wall by front door, the table was dusty so used a washcloth to dust it and it was brown. They changed us to a different room but host was a bit hesitant. New room didn't stink it had the dusty table tops and furniture too, but they were remodeling lower room so construction noise below. No noise when sleeping so that was fine. The hot tub was like luke warm bath water and it was very dirty like hasn't been deep cleaned in years. Pool wasn't any better. I will not stay here again, breakfast was meh, powdered eggs and patty sausage, waffle machine that does the standard hotel waffles. Coffee was terrible, oranges were like just old you can tell they are putting as little food out as possible. I cannot believe this is a Wyndham property.

The hotel’s basic functions work properly, but the amenities for guests are not adequately provided.
1. A large hole in the wall has been poorly patched, creating a possibility that mice could enter.
2. The heater works, but the noise is so loud that it is difficult to get sufficient sleep.
3. Breakfast is provided, but the quality is very low.

Parking was great as well as check in. We did not eat breakfast. We were here to watch Western Wrestling. Rooms are exterior entrance. You always hear more road noise at these type of hotels. Our room was spacious and clean and the beds were ok. It is an economy hotel and was a good price for the weekend. No complaints.

The male staff member that checked us in was unhelpful. When we told him that he'd given us the wrong room type he kinda just shrugged at us. The food was real bad at breakfast including waffle batter that had turned. The lady that helped us day two was much better. The spa was under construction and she helped us find an alternative at a sister property in town. For the price it was great, but there were issues. The sheets were kinda sandpapery, and the bed had a sinking hole in the middle.

Setup of the suite room was amazing for a family of 5. We got a roll out bed for one kid from the office and everyone was very happy, plus there was a separate room so we didn't have to go to bed at 9 when the kids did. Everyone loved the jetted tub and breakfast was tasty. We would stay here again.

Run down rooms, stained furniture, blood stain on the grout in the bathroom, paint on the exterior is bad, sketchy people staying there, and the breakfast was so bad. You get what you pay for. The beds and linens themselves were very very clean and comfortable though and the people that worked there were very nice and helpful.

Staff is GREAT! Rooms are mediocre. Walls need cleaned in our room, especially in the bathroom and by the sink in the main room. Should try to change the breakfast up a little as if we stay multiple days in a row, which we do several times a year, the same old thing every day and every time we come gets a little old for sure.

Faucet was difficult to turn on. The light over the sink went on and off like there was a short or something wrong with it. Screws were sticking up on the threshold between the room and the bathroom. The mattresses were very hard and felt like springs were poking up.

Parking is very limited. Floors seemed clean, but left bare feet really dirty. Breakfast had everything, but limited on the sides like shredded cheddar for the eggs, whip cream or bananas or nuts for the waffles. Very convenient though on location. I still would stay there again.

They need a maintenance person on duty. There was dirt and wrappers on the outdoor carpeting leading to the rooms and on the stairs. The air vent in the bathroom was filthy with dust. The jetted tub had a broken plug so you couldn't fill the tub and turn on the jets. The pool had insulation falling out of the roof onto a catwalk above the pool. The jets for the hot tub didn't work. There were several lights out in the pool building. It said to shower before entering the pool/hot tub but there was no shower.

We thought the location was excellent in regards to being right in town. Restaurants and shopping were within walking distance with a park nearby to walk our dog. Parking was also very convenient and the staff was very nice.
Kudos for the hot water and excellent pressure in the shower. Our room could have been cleaner with the floor feeling dirty to our feet. There was noticable dirt in the corners of the bathroom and overall there were cosmetic opportunites with our room.

fixtures, squeaky beds) . Our room was located near the stairs leading to the second floor. Consequently, we heard the comings and goings of the other guests. Overall, I would have to say that our experience was just OK when considering the room rate.

Time for a Serious upgrade

I stayed at this property years ago. It is run by different people now and they are not locals. The front desk personnel was a young Indian (from India) woman and is seriously lacking in customer service skills. There is no onsite management personnel of this hotel, the managers and operators do not live in Gunnison.
The outside of the property was dirty and the overall appearance of this property is tired and run down. The room interiors were not much better. They looked the same as when I stated there many years ago.
Also there was a discrepancy in what I thought I was paying and what I was charged for my one night stay. I ended up paying almost $200 for one night. This property was NOT the price I was charged.

It is just blocks from Western Colorado university. There was bugs all over the bathtub, the desk chair was about to collapse, and the air conditioner sounds like a jet engine. It was around 90 degrees so we needed to run it. When it kicks on it wakes everyone up. Thought we'd do laundry here and found only one washing machine out of 2 working. Started drying clothes and one of the 2 dryers stopped working half way through cycle. Ended up having to take clothes to a local laundry mat to finish clothes at 9pm.

Worst bed I have tried to sleep in-ever! Commented on it the next morning at check out. She asked me if there was a foam topper on bed and I told her there wasn't. She said she would check into it but have not heard back from them at all. We were only there 1 night but our backs hurt for the rest of our trip.

Usually stay here once a year for over 20 years to visit friends but will not stay here again.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the annual car show and downtown. The sign states the Wingate provides hot breakfast and the weekend hours are 7 to 10 a.m. When my husband and I arrived at the breakfast room the door was open, but there was nothing for breakfast. We called the number at the front desk since the desk was unattended, and were informed that the breakfast lady was sick and did not come in. A hotel with 64 rooms should have a back-up plan in this case. We had to go downtown for breakfast instead of enjoying a quiet breakfast at the hotel.

The room was clean but felt dated and could use some updating and repairs. The mattress was cheap and overly springy, which made for a less-than-ideal sleep. When we arrived, the cleaning product smell was so strong we had to air out the room before getting comfortable.

Overall, it was fine for a quick overnight, but some improvements to the furnishings and cleaning practices would go a long way in elevating the guest experience.
