Lovely riad accommodation in a passageway just off one of the main streets in the medina at Essaouira.
Breakfast in the central atrium was a lovely way to start the day.
A relaxing place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the medina. Room was compact with two single beds but was an authentic road experience.

It was perfect!
The riad was in a perfect location, it was in the centre of the medina with everything so close by. The room was clean and had all the amenities needed.
The breakfast was great and the staff were responsive - Rita was brill!
The riad itself was gorgeous, with a lovely rooftop and a great lounge area. We got some great restaurant recommendations from staff too.
I definitely will be coming back to this beautiful riad and Essaouira ❤️

First of all, we were supposed to stay at the Riad , once we got there, we were told that the room we reserved they are doing construction on it , we were given an apartment outside of the Riad in a scary neighborhood, the apartment sheets , blankets and pillows so stinky! When we ask the lady that we don’t want to stay here , she simply responds with you can cancel if you want, on the top of that , they asked us to pay fee that it’s called a property taxes cash , which it’s already paid in the beginning that I have it in the confirmation invoice! They are scammers, not honest, they zero customer service ( not recommended at all )

Excellent location, clean, friendly staff, nice rooms. Breakfast is included. We got it for an extremely low price, which made it a superbe deal.

Located directly in a small alley off one of the main streets in the Medina. The alley looked dark but don’t get fooled, the Riad is lovely. There is a roof terras with good to catch some sun. No view though.

Within the Medina you go by door and there are steep stairs so not great if you travel with a bulky suitcase. Better with a backpack only.

Only the shower was not warm consistently in our room on second floor.

Otherwise highly recommend for the prize.

We arrived early so our room wasn't ready. We did check in a drop the bags. When we went to collect the bags there was a whole family at the reception ( the owners i guess) and the french man wouldn't even get up from the couch the get the bags as he was lying down watching tv. After making some gestures he did. We were never informed about breakfast so we paid for breakfast outside the premises ( my bad for not checking my booking but I would have expected to be informed about at the check in). We were on the first floor and at night it got so loud as people was chatting in the reception until about 11 and some others coming and going. The lack of a water fountain makes the riad quite noisy. But overall is a good place to stay, clean and cute room and very well located.

Convenient and a nice receptionist/host. Cheapish. However, room was dilapidated, small and smelt a bit damp. Don't pay for a superior room, they all seem basic and small, with the possible exception of the 6 bed room which I didn't see. Not a room to sit in and enjoy: bed, table, no space or view. Functional at best. Floor was clean but fixtures (shelf, taps, toilet seat) all run down, scratched and stained. Breakfast VERY basic. Quick, cheap sleep maybe, but it's not a place to enjoy in itself.

Please visit Essaouira and this riad!

Very nice place to stay, good location and the hosts (french couple) extremely friendly and helpful. On our last day we needed to catch an early bus, and would have missed breakfast but the owner was nice enough to have breakfast served earlier for us. That was much appreciated before our long journey on the bus.

It was a very simple riad. The beds were clean and the staff was nice and helpful. Shower was a tad on the small side and wasn’t really powerful and the first day we had no hot water. It was fine for our stay though. The beds were clean and fairly comfortable. The room seemed a bit dusty but it was otherwise clean

Well located, bang in the centre of Essaouira medina, but quiet, in a side street. Fairly simple and a bit dark room, but if you plan to spend most of your time outside, it provides all necessary at a good price.

Nice Riad, don't pay anyone who shows you the way

This is a very nice riad, within easy reach from Guleiz and the square. We were happy with our stay and the price was very good.

I was happy that I was able to leave our bags in the riad for several hours and I was also able to charge my power bank.

The only thing we didn't like, was that like so many riads in Marrakech, it was a little hard to find, a Morrocan asked us the name of our Riad, took us there and demanded $20, just for walking with us for 10 minutes or so, something we would do, without expecting payment. Just be a little careful and do not give in to these demands.

Good budget choice in Essaoiura

Lovely Riad. Very good location in the medina. Very comfortable and well appointed room. Good wifi. Friendly and helpful staff. Only minor gripe - the listing implies the rooms are made up daily, but they weren't during my three day stay. But I enjoyed my stay and I'd happily stay here again.

Comfy and clean... very central good location but not too noisy... very impressed to be able to pay €5 to get a load of washing done very needed after 3weeks of hand washing with a 2year old... found the bedding to be extra soft and cosy real duvets ... no fuzzy fleece blanket like you find in a lot of Moroccan guest houses... staff were approachable and friendly

Riad Magdoul. An excellent place in Essaouira!

Excellent! 5 stars. Lovely helpful and beautiful riad.

If you want a simple yet very traditional Moroccan experience that is quiet yet in the centre of the town then Riad Sidi Magdoul is the place to stay. Local knowledge is good, 10 mins walk to the beach and 3 mins walk to the local medina for local shopping for fruit, vegetables, restaurants and gifts. It's a very safe area and with friendly local people!

There is a reason why it is cheap!

Its located in the center of town, however its down a dark alley, which does not make for the most comfortable walk home at night.
The rooms are clean but very damp, and somewhat smelly. Our bed unfortunately also had bedbugs. Which the owner refused to acknowledge, did little about and managed to insult my wife in the process (not a great to badmouth your customer in french when your they understand what your are saying!).
The breakfast was nice and so was the staff, but after this experience we will not be coming back.

Great value.

The room itself was cute and comfortable. There's no a/c which is not a problem during this time of year. I've been to essouira in both October and April and both times it's been chilly at night. The wifi in our room was non existent, which sucked. You had to go to the lobby to get decent internet. The hot water for the shower was not very long lasting, either. The towels on the other hand were quite nice. The breakfast was typical. Tons of bread options with fresh juice and coffee. The overall experience in my opinion was what I'd call 3 stars for a 2 star price, so I'm quite satisfied.

Cold and dark room, staff rather unfriendly. Also pretty noisy, as the room faces a central courtyard, very little sound insulation. Shower scorching hot for 2 minutes, then ice-cold for 5 minutes, then hot again.

Also, I was there off-season, literally every single room, including mine, was empty and cleaned. I arrived at 14h, but even though the room was available they tolled me that check-in only starts at 15h and made me wait.

Overall, not recommended.

A la réception accueil correct. Escalier raide pour monter à la chambre. Dans ce riad la déco est absente. Atmosphère froide. Idem chambre. Peu de meubles mais fonctionnel. Couette chaude. Propreté correcte. Très calme sauf les chatons qui miaulent en pleine journée. Nuit ok même s'il n'y a pas de chauffage. Douche spatieuse mais rudimentaire. WC vieillot. Évier très étroit. Serviettes en nombre et qui sentent bon. Par contre le petit déjeuner est indigne beaucoup de bouffe industrielle et il faut réclamer des œufs sinon ce serait très médiocre. Café ok. Aller prendre le petit déjeuner ailleurs. Étrangeté la porte principale de l'hôtel reste ouverte la nuit même s'il y a un gardien.

My family and I recently stayed at Riad Sidi Magdoul for a week in the “superior apartment”.

On the positive side, the apartment itself was stunningly decorated, showcasing beautiful interior design (typical Moroccan) that made it visually appealing. It was also much bigger than what had been advertised (I would guess appr 80 square meter). The reception area also looked very nice and welcoming, and the location of the hotel was convenient. We only had breakfast once at the riad but thought it was ok and decent priced.

However, there were unfortunately several significant issues that overshadowed these positives. Firstly, cleanliness was a concern. The apartment was unusually dirty, even by Moroccan standards, as we have visited Morocco and Essaouira five times before and have never encountered such standard in a riad or apartment (we have a relative living in Essaouira and have also been staying in her apartment). During our stay, we for example encountered at least 10 cockroaches, which was absolutely unacceptable.

Moreover, the service was extremely poor. It felt like our apartment wasn’t truly part of the hotel; we weren’t offered any housekeeping whatsoever, although other guests in the hotel received daily service. This was not something that we had been informed of and therefore took us by surprise. To make matters worse, we were charged appr. 10% more for the room than what was agreed with hotels, and the hotel only accepted cash payments. While this is not uncomm

Sehr nette Gastgeberin und das gesamte Personal. Riad- Inhaber kümmern sich selbst um die Gäste und sind sehr aufmerksam. Merken sich wie man den Kaffee oder welche Teesorte man bevorzugt. Ich bin erkältet angereist und würde sehr gut mit Tees versorgt oder heissen Wasser für die Medizin. Ein schöneres Zimmer würde frei und ich dürfte einziehen. Das Haus ist modern und puristisch eingerichtet. Mann kann eigene Wäsche waschen für einen kleinen Beitrag und am Dach Sonnenbaden.Das Riad ist an bester Lage.

Très propre, personnel sympa et riad bien situé.
Seul bemol est que le petit dejeuner n'etait servi qu'à partir de 8h30. Pour des lèves tôt et si on souhaite partir tôt pour une escapade c'est dommage mais ça nous a permis d'aller le prendre dans un petit bouiboui proche avec les locaux et c'etait super bon et pour des clopinettes.

予約した宿がWブッキングで宿泊出来ず、急遽予約し宿泊しました。予約後5分後位に到着しましたが、暖かく迎えていただきました。部屋はWベッドが四畳半から6畳くらいの部屋に有り窓を開けると部屋の中が丸見えで閉めると暗かった。因みに備品は手洗いソープとタオル位です。ドライヤーシャンプーボディーソープは持参が必要です
一番の問題はトイレの水が流れないことです。通常タンクの水が減ると、自動で配管から水が給水されますが、給水されずシャワーの水を自分でタンクに入れて使用しました。
シャワーの湯は不安定で使用中突然湯だけになったり水だけになったり注意が必要です。場所は非常にいい場所に有ります。
値段相応の宿だと思います

La ubicación es muy buena, pero la atención no tanto. Los pusieron una lavadora que aparte de cobrarnos 10 euros por lavadora y secadora, la secadora ni la utilizaron porque la ropa quedó muy mojada y \"desaparecieron\" prendas de ropa de mi hijo que despues ni se molestaron en buscar ni les importo mucho y eso me hizo pensar... Hace mucho frío en las habitaciones! La verdad esque no nos quedamos con buen sabor de boca, el desayuno tampoco vale nada.

Rustic charm and basic. Like a beach house that has been left unused for a couple of months (I'm talking about the decor and fixture). Don't get me wrong, my room, bed and toilets are clean and well dusted. The staff are very helpfull and welcoming. Nothing to complain about my stay. It's just a tiny bit low on the price vs quality curve, especially against other riads that I stayed in Morocco.
Essaouira is literally next to the sea. If your room is not air conditioned, expect dampness and humidity.
All in all, I would stay again.

La nostra esperienza è stata in parte positiva e in parte negativa. La posizione è ottima, in pieno centro a pochi passi dalle mete preferite e dagli splendidi vicoli della medina, ad un prezzo davvero molto contenuto. Arrivati al riad con diversi bagagli, visibilmente in difficoltà nell’entrare dalla porta, il ragazzo alla reception non si è degnato nemmeno di chiedere se volessimo una mano, è rimasto a farsi i fatti suoi finché non siamo riusciti a raggiungerlo. Non ci è stato offerto io tè (lo dico perché in molti riad è abitudine offrirlo quando si ricevono i clienti). Le camere con vista sulla città si trovano al 3 piano, quindi se come noi avete tanti bagagli attenzione a scegliere bene; non vi erano saponi o kit per il bagno. La prima notte siamo stati in una delle due camere al 3 piano, bello il panorama dalla terrazza che era praticamente a nostro uso esclusivo visto che l’altra camera era vuota (ci sono anche setendini per appendere i costumi bagnati). Purtroppo qui non c’era acqua calda. Abbiamo chiesto se fosse possibile riparare il guasto, ma non è stato possibile. Bisogna dire però che lo staff è stato molto gentile nel provare a risolvere il problema e a sincerarsi il giorno dopo se ci fossero stati problemi. La seconda notte ci siamo spostati al 1 piano, dove arrivava l’acqua calda e la camera era curata meglio, nonostante l’odore di umidità proveniente dal bagno, lo staff dice di lasciar porte e finestre aperte, ma non mi sembra la soluzione migliore.
