The country resort is lovely and peaceful. It is very convenient to villa Romana del Casale, which is spectacular and not to be missed. Unfortunately the weather was rainy during our stay so we could not take full advantage of what the resort had to offer (the pool etc). It was very convenient to have the option of a relaxing dinner at the resort. The dinner was abundant, with traditional dishes and local products.

This property is beautiful. Rural. The people are really wonderful. Gated country house. The room was simple but very nice. Two or three seating areas inside and outside well appointed. Mattress and linens extremely comfortable. Great sleep until - roosters and cowbells(? lol) Pool area was great and the patio area is lovely. It’s very peaceful and quiet and after Palermo was wonderfully refreshing. You can walk around the farm/gardens. We had the 4 course dinner with local wine and it was very good. Authentic Italian cooking, served in a beautiful room overlooking garden. Soft piano music. And nice not to have to fight crowds. I really recommend this hotel & the dinner.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Good breakfast, especially the homemade jams and marmalades. A nice setting. Unfortunately, a number of areas for improvement. Swimming pool was not open; there were no other recreational facilities. The soccer field was overgrown; the balls flat; and, the nets had holes. There is an archery area that doesn’t seem to have been used for years. The hotel essentially has an 11 pm curfew, because there is no one at the reception to open the gates — this is quite inconvenient if returning late from dinner or from Agrigento. One of our rooms had a damp odor.
We had issues with laundry. Having sought and received confirmation in advance that the hotel had laundry services, we were surprised to be told at check in that there was no laundry service. Later, another receptionist confirmed that there was laundry service but not on that day. We had our laundry done the next day; some of the items were returned so wrinkled that we couldn’t wear them! 10 Euros per person’s laundry should have had better service.

Beautiful villa in the countryside close to town

This is a beautiful okd villa that has been in the same family for generations which the same family has turned into a bnb. The breakfast was the only thing la lcking- not very good. But the room was a good size, very comfy bed, and the room was heated!!! Its late October and rainy so it was nice to be toasty warm. I would definitely stay there again. Beautiful grounds.

A quirky property - and a quirky reception. Two young African lads are the public face of the property (at least they were when we were there) although the owner's granddaughter also made a brief appearance. Grandma was asleep in her wheelchair with her back to the visitors in what had been the breakfast room earlier each day. A gentleman who might have been the owner/owner's son, who spoke no English, got one of the lads to translate when I asked if we could get our boarding passes printed. Everything very informal - we asked to have dinner on both our evenings there, but didn't know the price until we checked out! (A very modest 27 Euros each, including generous wine - for a 4 course dinner of delightfully simple local dishes).

We had room 102, a superior double, at an equally modest price, which had a comfortable large double bed, a small but adequate shower, and (unusually) adequate storage for clothes. Furnished with an assortment of furniture of varying vintages, with French windows which would have been lovely in the summer.

Provided you are ready for a rustic experience, with good simple food, and don't expect luxury, this is an ideal place to stay to visit the Villa Romana Dei Casale, for the stunning mosaics, a few Km away.

Lovely old building full of character with a beautiful courtyard where breakfast and dinner are served. Great swimming pool and grounds for relaxing. Good location for visiting the Villa Romana - 15 mins by car.

Rooms are spacious and clean with very comfortable beds. The aircon is centrally controlled, and we found it a bit warm at night.

Dinner (27 euro pp) was excellent - 4 courses plus wine. The staff are very friendly.

A lovely respite in a beautiful part of Sicily.

It was a lovely, unique setting that was out in the country, yet only a couple of km from town. Very quiet ,peaceful. Stayed one night in order to visit the magnificent Villa Romana. The hotel is a short drive from the rather uninteresting town of piazza armerina. The staff was very friendly and the villa and grounds are charming. We had dinner which was fine but not great. It was 25 euros per person including wine. Breakfast was good.

Charming, old villa with a warm welcome. Feels like a family home to which you have been invited. Great breakfast, the homemade cakes and pastries being fantastic. Make sure you book for dinner, again a delicious meal eaten altogether with fellow guests, no choice but several courses; would recommend.

Lovely pool area with comfy loungers. Insect repellent an absolute must, as we discovered to our cost!

Oasis outside of the town

The villa is set on a quiet piece of property outside of town. They offer dinner with a fixed menu for 25 euros, including wine, which is a great deal. The room was large and comfortable although wifi was spotty. Also, we were just off the billiard room, which can be a noisy spot. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. However eating breakfast out on the patio was special.

Difficult to drive to but signage was excellent. Beautiful house from 19th century has remained in family. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fixed us a light lunch when we arrived in mid-afternoon. restful and peaceful country house. The building is a beautiful old stone house with a beautiful courtyard garden in front. A fabulous pool and gardens to stroll in, offering various activities such as archery and ping pong. Dinner under the stars (we were visiting in summer!) was good and capacious, although we missed being able to choose our dinner, or the wine, as in a restaurant. Extremely good value.
Secure parking on site.
We wished we could have stayed longer.

The country home of the Tregoni family who paid for construction of the cathedral in Piazza Armerina. We spent three nights there and had dinner each evening. This was a wonderful typical Sicilian five course affair with wine and liqueurs - excellent value! The grounds were also delightful and a lovely swimming pool to cool off.

Villa Trigona Hotel, Sicily

Fabulous quintessential rustic hotel on the outskirts of Piazza Armerina. It was built in the late 1700's and was converted from a farmhouse only eight months ago according to the owner who sits in an armchair beside the entrance. She is in her eighties and blends into the architecture alongside the wall mounted sepia photographs of her relations. It sits on about 3Ha of gardens and orchards on a hillside with a lovely outdoor swimmimg pool. Food is served outdoors in the courtyard with an excellent four course set menu dinner for a reasonable 25€. My only criticism is that to find it you need a car and GPS navigation. Other than that, it's a 'magic spot' to relax and contemplate and I would love to return one day and spend more time there.

The Villa has comfortable antique furnishings throughout that adds to its' rustic charm. Our room overlooked the central courtyard on the ground level and didn't have much ambiance. It was dark inside, had a small shower, and the room had no heating and was very cold for us at night. The grounds could use some TLC. However, the room was clean, the staff was very congenial, and dinner was excellent and very good value at 25 euros. The Villa is in a good location to visit the Villa Romana del Casale.

Perfect location for key visits

Easy to find and warm welcome from staff who showed us to our very comfortable room on the first floor. The place is exactly like the pictures, full of charm and obviously a family home with all its treasures collected over many years.
It was very easy to reach the Roman villa from here, and Caltagirone. Also near to Morgantina and Aidone which make a good day out.
The waiting staff are lovely, brilliantly multi lingual and patient with struggles to try Italian phrases. We were a very mixed group of residents and enjoyed conversation together during dinner over our two night stay.

Definitely need a car if staying here as a little way out of town. Definitely recommend staying here. Charming staff and lovely building and grounds. Some building work underway but did not disturb us at all.

Breakfast was very fresh and tasty. Will definitely stay here if in area again.

Purpose of visit was to see Villa Romana del Casale, which was only a 10 minute drive away and definitely worth the trip to Piazza Armerina

This is a delightful retreat, peaceful and charmingly historic. The breakfast buffet is extensive, the evening meal nice. We arrived late at night (error in Google map directions). We were greeted warmly and made to sit down in the reception lounge and have a drink. We were then shown to our room which was large, clean and generally excellent.
Breakfast in the morning was generous and the freshly home-baked cake was pure temptation.
The man who greeted us the previous night was on duty again and he and the receptionist/manager were very friendly and helpful. The hotel appeared to be full - which is always a good sign. Later on our trip, we met a German couple who had stayed there and they were equally pleased.

This is a true treasure unseen in Europe these days. It's an old villa with home-like service. The venue is an old villa converted into a B&B. I was greeted with an expresso (free). The room was charming and overlooked a field and woods. The 27 euro dinner was a 4 course homemade meal with 2 wines and a digestif. The only snag was the check-out process which required calling hotel.com (I'm still not sure it' right). And my brother had pre-paid, but there was no record of this. All in all, we loved it and the service was amazing.

The hotel was full of interesting family photos, china etc. The room was large and very comfortable. The pool was good, with plenty of loungers. We ate dinner under the trees outside - a magnificent 4 course meal of real Sicilian cooking, with 2 types of wine and a choice of liqueurs.

Great place to stay near the VIlla Romana

Villa Trigona is a farm house recently rebuilt in rather elegant fashion. From the large, nicely appointed rooms and bathrooms to the beautiful pottery and other artwork in the common rooms, the physical environment within the hotel is pleasant and relaxing. Outdoors one finds a shaded area of tables and chairs where you can have your breakfast, have a drink or just sit and read. The pool is large, beautifully maintained and very refreshing. The staff is very welcoming and attentive to guests' needs. The hotel is located about 2 miles from the center of the small town of Piazza Amerina and about 5 miles from the Villa Romana. The town doesn't offer much in the way of food, so eating dinner at the hotel is very much worth considering. They serve a home-style meal that includes bruschetta, antipasto, pasta, meat, many vegetables, and dessert. The price (18 euros) includes wine and after-dinner drinks. Hard to beat.

We stayed one night and it was very pleasant: The place is a bit funky, an old villa that has been restored somewht: We had an excellent dinner with wines and liquers for 27 euros. Breakfast buffet also very good. Convenient to Villa Casa real with its incredible mosaics, which is not to be missed on a trip to Scicily. Staff friendly and helpful.

At first sight this handsome old farmhouse on a family estate promised a lot.But our room was rather small and were disappointed with the evening meal which had been precooked in the afternoon and \"reheated\" in the evening as it was tepid when served. This was an outstanding B&B. Only got to stay one night but would have liked to stay longer. This is a first class B&B that has a marvelous view of the Mediteranean Sea. Right on the coast. Villa Trigona is a wonderful place to stay while touring central Sicily. It was a short drive to the Roman Villa (AMAZING mosaics), Morgantina (expansive and impressive Greek ruins in an unbeatable location), and Caltagirone (ceramics and more ceramics). The room was lovely, and the villa and location were superb. Warning: Piazza Armerina doesn't have many options for evening meals. Fortunately, Villa Trigona offers a fantastic reasonably priced home cooked multi-course evening meal, but only for their registered guests.

Stayed there for 2 nights in February. Nice rooms, very clean. Helpful staff.

Good location for visiting Villa Romana del Casale.

Finding the hotel was simple enough, it is well signed.

Loacted in the countryside, a couple of miles outside Piazza Armerina.

A word of warning, don't even think about driving into the historic centre of town, it is a true traffic nightmare, the worst I have seen in Sicily.

Friendly service. Good food with local produce. Very reasonably priced dinner with matching wines, served in romantic terraced location. New swimming pool will be a fantastic addition when finishing touches in place.

The hotel was remote and quiet which was lovely set in well kept grounds. The staff were very helpful and very honest as I left some jewellery out and it was still there upon my return. The rooms although comfortable were basic. The air con is temperamental! The meals were a bit all the same after a while so a couple of meals there is sufficient.

Country hotel with good food.

The hotel was out-of-town but easy to find and well signposted. We had a big room, typically Sicilian with rustic furniture, and a lounge attached, though the beds were on the soft side. There was a balcony, but not great views. The grounds were rather scruffy.
Dinner was available with 4 good courses, wine and liqueurs at a sensible price. Breakfast was good with home made products, but was a bit of a free for all when the hotel was busy. Service was friendly and hospitable.

An excellent overnight stop.
Very generous breakfast with huge variety of items on offer.
Beautiful setting.
Not easy to find .Piazza Armerina seemed to give our satnav (GPS) a nervous breakdown.
Would recommend using google maps and look for hotel signs.

Villa Trigona -- tranquil and lovely

Villa Trigona is set in the countryside, a renovated old building with lots of atmosphere in the most tranquil setting. There was a roaring fire in our upstairs fireplace, which was most welcome on a winter's evening. The hotel has a fixed-price menu, but when i said I was too tired for a full meal they were most accommodating and served me a light and tasty meal of Sicilian specialties. There was plenty of hot water, and I enjoyed a walk around the grounds before leaving in the morning. Villa Romana del Casale is very easily reached from the hotel.

Peaceful stay in historic villa

We stayed at the Villa Trigona for one night in November. It is out on the edge of Piazza Armerina so more rural and peaceful. Our room was spacious, clean, and simple. The room was chilly but the bathroom was well heated. A double door opened onto a patio which would have been nice in warmer weather. The Villa is old but very well maintained. The staff were welcoming but spoke only a little English. We had a very memorable dinner at the Villa, booked by us in advance. Multiple courses, all excellent, for a very reasonable price. There are no restaurants within walking distance of the Villa since it is in the country but one could easily drive into the town for dinner. We had difficulty finding our way through Piazza Armerina to the Villa and should have used our GPS. Pay careful attention to the signs for the Villa at the roundabouts within the city so you don’t miss a turn. The gate into the Villa grounds was locked but it was rapidly opened by the staff once we signaled our arrival by pushing a button located next to the gate. We would definitely stay at the Villa again.

peaceful rural setting near Piazza Armerina

What a gem this family run small hotel turned out to be. Luckily there were Villa Trigona signs approaching Piazza Armerina and I had printed off a more detailed google also street signs can be non existant! Also street signs are rare. The owners were delightful, the evening meal was cooked by the family and served in the garden courtyard, underneath umbrellas and was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere just delightful. A different wine accompanied each course! Breakfast was a feast again outdoors. Upon arrival we were given booklets and maps to assist with exploring this beautiful town. Thoroughly recommended and may this Villa remain in the family for many more years! Free internet was a bonus and nothing was a trouble. Great find.

A wonderful stay

My partner and I visited Villa Trigona for one night en route from Siracusa to Agrigento. We would really recommend this wonderful villa. The family running it are very accommodating, nice, gentle people who couldn't do enough to help. They gave us a choice of room, all very nicely decorated whilst retaining the style of an old villa. The villa is perfectly located to see the nearby town of Piazza Armerina and the Roman Villa, only a very short and easy drive away. We returned to the villa in the evening for a walk around the grounds, and we ate dinner at the villa in the evening. You must do this. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a real 'sicilian' experience and exactly what we had wanted. There were so many delicious courses and a wide variety of flavours. And it was unbelievably good value at 28 EUR per person including lovely wines. The setting was perfect.

We would really recommend this homely villa to anyone looking for a peaceful break in a rural location.

Hotel near Piazza Armenia, Sicily

We only stayed at Villa Trigona for 1 night. Location was good...about 5 min from Piazza Armenia. The location on Map Quest looked like it was further out from town than it was. It was at the end of May and the weather was not very good so we didn't get to see the surroundings of the hotel. The room that we had was excellent; comfortable and clean. The night staff was very nice and helpful. I asked for dinner in my room and they had no problems doing that for us. The breakfast was delicious and had a lot to choose from. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I could.

Wonderful in all ways

This B & B is a convenient, short distance from Piazza Armerina, the Roman Villa and Morgantina. The owners are very welcoming, the farmhouse has been beautifully renovated and furnished with simple country antiques. Our room was very spacious. The breakfast was very good, but the real highlight was the four course (or was it five course) dinner, cooked and served by the owner with three different wines. Most of the other guests also dined in, and it was a very convivial evening.The most enjoyable meal we had during our week-long stay in Sicily.

a lovely country villa

This is a true Sicilian countryside experience,

We stayed here for 5 nights in July while exploring both the local area and attractions, and also taking day trips such as to Palermo and Agrigento. (That might be more driving than most would prefer but we also wanted to see some of the Sicilian countryside which we certainly did see---and enjoyed.)

We were made to feel like guests of the family at the Villa, and particularly experienced the gracious and congenial hospitality of the place when the brother and sister and families were present for a few of the days. They were also helpful in bridging our Italian-English language gap, and helping us learn more about area attractions. It was quieter when those family members were away as the staff, while helpful and cordial, are busy.

Meals were delightful in variety and quality, and were served in a lovely outdoor country setting. In addition to the lovely breakfasts, Angela and her crew served up memorable multi-course dinners of local fresh fare---a very reasonable prix fixe meal that includes local red wines. Lingering over these dinners out under the trees in the late summer evenings will be a treasured memory for a long time.

While this is a lovely villa, it is definitely a country experience and is for those who find it charming to dine to the sounds of peacocks calling, the occasional donkey braying, and sharing a table with travelers possibly from another part of the world on nights when the house is full.

Lovely, family-run inn with great food

We were 100% happy with our time here. The hosts are lovely and have mastered the art of being gracious and warm, without intruding more than one wants. The villa is beautiful--recently restored and spotless. Our room (for 3 on ground floor)was huge, and had a lovely new bathroom, as well. The grounds are beautiful & the meals are wonderful. I highly recommend booking a dinner--some of the best food we had in Italy (& we've lived here a year). Cook should give cooking classes--she is that good. And the cost is a bargain, considering what you get in your meal. Breakfasts are lovely & served outside in the courtyard. Our daughter enjoyed the play area, the peacocks and playing with the hosts two children (aged 2 and 5). All in all, a wonderful and memorable stay! Highly recommended!

Hotel Trigona

This is a charming small hotel in the countryside near Piazza Armerina. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We stayed for two nights and had dinner at the hotel both evenings. It is a fixed menu of local products and priced very reasonably. There is an outside yard area well shaded by trees with tables an chairs where one can sit and read a book and enjoy the quiet of the countryside - or one can have a cup of tea or a drink if so desired.

Welcoming country villa

This beautifully restored country villa is conveniently located just outside Piazza Amerina and near Villa Casale. After a rainy March day in Caltagirone, we were welcomed to a warm room, wine next to a fire and a delicious dinner that was very reasonably priced. The helpful staff recommended visiting Morgantina as well as Villa Casale since part of Casale is closed for repairs.

Amazing hospitality

Arrived in the dark, glad we had borrowed a sat nav as it helped us find this place. Room good size, ensuite clean and functional corner shower doors no use if you were a large person!!
The aroma and smells of the evening meal were so tempting I went and asked if they had enough for 2 more, was told it was ok. The hosts speak no English at all, they have a young lad working for them and he interpreted for us. 4 courses and 1/2 litre good local wine then a glass of very good Sicilian red wine, after dessert a liquor, all for 28 Euros each, a very good meal with lots of vegetables as well, so the Villa Trigona comes very highly recomended by us. We repeated the experience on our second night and it was equally as good.
