Great place to completely disconnect and relax.
The room was clean and with all the necessary amenities to make for a memorable stay.
The agriturismo has a relax area with sauna, jacuzzi, hay, firepit, lots of chaise longues to enjoy the sun.
Breakfast is diverse and tasty, homemade products with vegan or gluten free options.
The ladies of the staff were all very friendly and accomodating, ready to answer any questions and give indications of good restaurants and places to visit.
The property is a little farther from the city center, but using the walking paths you can get down in the city within 20min. Or driving within 5-10 min.
Really enjoyed our stay here. The only downsize is, if you have a very light sleep, you might get bothered a couple of times during the night by the trains passing behind.

A great weekend

Perfect base for a long weekend, the staff were excellent throughout , assisting in making bookings for taxi, boat hire and more.

Couldn’t fault the accommodation and breakfast each morning was freshly prepared and baked goods varied from day to day.

Can't imagine a better place to stay

This place is a gem. It is authentic to the Lake Orta area (near train station and a reasonable walk to the lake), but it is also welcoming to visitors from around the world. Nice family vibe but also would be good for a couple. The restaurant next door served a perfectly memorable dinner, and they also provided a delightful picnic lunch. Breakfast is regional--farm fresh. The room is modern, simple, clean. We would love to return.

One of a kind

Lovely hotel, full of character, layout and decor was excellent. The room was lovely size, big bathroom and balcony. The whole place was full of quirky charm.

Breakfast with all the home made food was incredible, homemade bread, yoghurt, honey and cake.

It's a bit of a walk to the town of Orta San Giulio but worth it. One of the prettiest and unspoilt places we have ever been to.

Only a couple of things to be aware of that are out of the owners control. First is that it is located next to a railway line. We personally didn't find it a problem, actually was quite interesting seeing the freight trains go past, but I can imagine this could be an issue for some.
Second thing to be aware of is the next door hotel seems to be a male refuge centre. We had no issues walking past and felt quite safe. Maybe female travellers might feel a bit uneasy.

Definitely recommended, for a variety of reasons.

This is a really pleasant place to stay: the staff are courteous and very helpful; our room - and bed - very comfortable, and we very much enjoyed the tasting menu at dinner in the restaurant. It's located on the edge of St Guilio, the main town on Lake Orta. The town and lake are lovely.

Outstanding Stay

Our stay was outstanding. The rooms are charming & comfortable, and the staff is outstanding - kind, friendly, and helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty. One of the women who owns and runs the hotel gave us 2 rides so that we wouldn't have to hire a taxi. ( I think her name was Jessica ). The breakfasts were delicious and included homemade food. Unfortunately we were not there on days when they served other meals.

Great memory

Wow! What a gem, an incredible find. Loved everything about this place: impeccable rooms, warm and friendly service, cleanliness, authentic and fresh baked breakfast and most of all the warm smile on everyone's face. The beds were super comfortable, the smell of fresh baked cookies every morning was incredible. Book a dinner, it's well worth the experience.

Excellent choice a little off the beaten path.

This was an excellent stay. They have a new building with 10 rooms that is very plain but lovely. Bathroom is large and bed is comfortable. The staff goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast though simple is of excellent quality. Finally the restaurant is not to be missed. It will be one the best meals you will eat in Italy.

The neighborhood is fine and it is about a 20 minute walk to the lake.

Lovely Family getaway walking distance to Orta

We loved Il Cucchiaio di Legno! The rooms were beautiful with great amenities including beautiful wine glasses in the room and gorgeous coffee cups.
The breakfast was to die for every morning with great staples and a nice variety each day!

Nice hotel 20 mins from town

We had a family room for 1 night and enjoyed sitting out on the terrace enjoying a drink from the mini bar before driving 5 minutes into the pretty town. Rooms and bathrooms were very spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and pleasant. On site parking. Only negative was that the property backed onto train station.

Comfortable stay, but come for the food

Clean and comfortable, simple Agriturismo with a fantastic attached restaurant serving spectacular local cuisine. Staff are friendly and eager to help, though somewhat limited in English. It's located a short walk from the Orta-Miasino train station - closer to the station than the actual town of Orta San Guilio, though in the opposite direction.

Wonderful, modern hotel

Really enjoyed our long weekend at Il Cucchiaio di Legno. It was a pretty easy drive up from Milan Malpensa. We received a very warm welcome from the friendly receptionist who couldn't have been more helpful and was able to converse with visitors from all over Europe in their own languages. The hotel was modern and bright and the room was clean and spacious, with a nice balcony overlooking the garden. Included was a simple but delicious breakfast each morning. The attached restaurant served an excellent tasting menu and huge selection of wines for a very reasonable price. The location was a short distance from Orta San Giulio, easy if you have a car but a little far out if on foot, especially as the roads have no pavements so feel a little dangerous to walk on.

Unique design, 20min walk from Orta San Giulio

Located just 20min walk from Orta San Giulo centre (use the shortcut through the woods, else it will take you 35 min on a road with no sidewalk), we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cucchiaio di Legno.The building is brand new, great design, large rooms (definitely noteworthy!). Add to that a friendly and helpful staff and you can only have a great stay. The restaurant is well worth a visit too, provided you plan ahead and book a table. We got served a delicious 7 or 8 course meal for a ridiculously cheap price... It went straight to our top 3 list of restaurant in Orta, along with l'Olina and La Locanda del Buon Riso (which you'll find in the town centre)

Great hotel for a quiet few days away

This is a fantistic hotel for a stay in Orta. The rooms feel very modern and each one has its own access to either the garden or a balcony. The beds were very comfortable and a mini fridge, kettle and tea are also provided. On top of this, you receive a flask for the duration of your visit to keep filling with water from the dining room, which is really useful, particularly in the summer when it gets extremly hot.
The breakfast provided offers a wide range of foods such as cakes, pastries, breads cereals, meats, cheeses and an excellent fruit salad. There are also juices and hot drinks available from the coffee machine. The only thing I would have added would be offering bread rolls too rather than only just slices of bread.
The hotel is also situated just up the road from the train station - approx 500m, so travelling by public transport is convenient. In relation to the main square of Orta, the hotel is a fair walk away, about 20mins, and slightly longer on the way back as it's much higher than the town. The walk takes in some really nice scenery and you can use a shortcut on the way down and back up if it's still light. The hotel also offer bike rental for €5 per day which I would thoroughly recommend as they are basically brand new bikes and are very good for cycling back up.
All in all, we would recommend this hotel to anyone, it was an enjoyable experience and the staff constantly went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We would definitely stay again.

New accommodations next to an older restaurant in the hills above Orta, near the train station. Very modern, roomy facilities -- large balcony, large bath, large room. Excellent and bountiful dinner (set menu, some choice per course) at restaurant, at astonishingly moderate prices for meals and wine. Full breakfast menu. Easy walk downhill into the town of Orta -- more effort to return uphill, but a small tourist tram ('trenino') will pick up passengers near town center and take them as far as the train station, close to the agri-turismo. Highly recommended; staff are unfailingly polite and helpful.

Hotel immerso nel verde, poco distante dal centro di Orta San Giulio. Ideale per godersi un momento di relax. Massaggio ottimo, area spa molto bella e pulita. Colazione varia e molto buona con anche prodotti locali. La camera molto spaziosa, pulita, e letto molto comodo.
Unico neo il treno nelle vicinanze che magari può dar fastidio a chi ha il sonno leggero.

Posizione logisticamente perfetta, ci sono tutti i servizi e le attenzione per un soggiorno all’insegna del relax, compresa una prima colazione curata e per tutti i gusti. Unica sorpresa la vicinanza della ferrovia, ma attenuata dagli ottimi serramenti, consiglio regolazione della climatizzazione per non dover tenere le finestre aperte la notte./

Un bel weekend sul lago d'Orta

Abbiamo soggiornato una sola notte in questo agriturismo molto bello, che vale il suo costo (comprensivo di alcuni graditi omaggi). La struttura è davvero bella, nuova, pulitissima e con tutti i comfort. L'accoglienza delle ragazze che lo gestiscono è delle più gentili e premurose. La posizione è eccellente, permettendo di arrivare a piedi nel paese di Orta San Giulio con 15, max 20 minuti di passeggiata, lasciando tranquillamente l'auto nel parcheggio interno. Ci siamo congedati con una buonissima colazione, che ha fatto il paio con l'ottima cena gustata nell'adiacente ristorante a base di bontà del territorio. Unico dispiacere, il tempo piovoso non ci ha permesso di goderci la parte outdoor della struttura. Peccato, ma sarà per la prossima volta!
